She received her degree in medicine from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey at Robert Wood Johnson Medical School in New Brunswick and completed residency training in internal medicine and pediatrics at Morristown Memorial Hospital in Morristown, New Jersey.

“The doctors overall are amazing, and they have a wonderful team at Children’s Hospital. I want to thank each one of them for the care that they gave my child.” BY LIESEL SCHMIDT

Every baby is beautiful in the eyes of their parents, a gift that embodies the love between two people. While no one ever imagines complications, it is the unexpected that most tests our faith and our belief that, no matter what, the tiny life just beginning will be one filled with love. Born with Treacher Collins syndrome (TCS), Jonathan Shaw, Jr., was faced with a multitude of medical issues that no one could have foreseen during all those happy ultrasounds, watching a growing baby float around on the screen. It was his mother, Briana, who first realized that there was something wrong; and that fear was confirmed when he was rushed off by the attending doctors and nurses mere minutes after birth. Shortly after, Briana and her husband, Jonathan, were given the news of his diagnosis of TCS, a genetic disorder characterized by deformities of the ears, eyes, cheekbones, and chin. While the degree to which a 10

SOCIAL NORTHSHORE

person is affected may vary from mild to severe, complications often include breathing problems, impaired vision, cleft palate, and hearing impairments. After being transferred from Touro Infirmary to Children’s Hospital New Orleans, Jonathan Jr. spent the next 100 days in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), under the care of pediatric medical experts. At two weeks old, Jonathan underwent a tracheostomy to help his breathing. Two months into his life, a G-tube was inserted into his stomach to aid in feeding him. A jaw distraction surgery was performed in the summer of 2020 to reshape his jaw so that he can eventually breathe on his own. “The doctors overall are amazing, and they have a wonderful team at Children’s Hospital,” says Briana, who has learned how to manage Jonathan’s care. “I want to thank each one of them for the care that they gave my child.”

Now two years old, Jonathan Jr. is drinking from a bottle and potty training, two things that his parents and doctors consider great signs of progress. “Some people use to say that he will never be able to do certain things, but he’s doing really well. We’ve been through a rough time since he was born, but he is doing wonderfully,” Briana says. Their hopes for the little boy continue to be high, and plans are in place to remove the trach, which will enable him to talk for the first time. And while his hearing impairment may require a hearing aid, Jonathan Jr. still loves music. “He dances,” says his mother with a smile. Overcoming the challenges before him, the tiny dancer is a beautiful reminder to believe.

BY LIESEL SCHMIDT

hile the County Clerk of Court’s office may be a government entity, Melissa Henry does something quite unique: she runs it like a business, complete with a friendly staff who offer a friendly greeting and an eager willingness to help.

Holding the position of St. Tammany Parish Clerk of Court since the summer of 2016, it was the ten years that Henry spent in the mortgage industry that first exposed her to many of the functions of the Clerk’s office. “I was doing things like recording mortgages, getting abstracts for properties, and researching land records,” she says. “The Clerk’s office seemed a natural place for me to use all of my skills and experience. I also earned my Notary Commission, which is a great asset to the Clerk’s office.” Naturally, her job entails a great many things, as she oversees all of the various departments in the Clerk’s office, including Civil, Criminal, Elections, Finance, Human Resources, Land, Personal Documents, Recording, Records Management, and IT. She is also Secretary of the LCRAA Board, serves on the Board of Directors (1st District member) of the Louisiana Clerk’s Association, and is acting President of the St. Tammany Board of Elections—an especially important role in Presidential election years. “It’s my job to ensure that elections are safe,

Born with five congenital heart defects (CHDs) including hypoplastic right heart syndrome, dextracardia, bilateral superior vena cavas, coarctation of the aorta, and transposition of the great arteries, Dylan Dishon was in danger from the moment he took his first breath. NEW YEAR NEW YOU

January is the perfect time to reset your eating habits and get back into your workout groove. It doesn’t matter how naughty

you were during the holidays or how far you’ve fallen from the wagon, you can restart your healthy habits anytime! Here are

10 tips for getting back into shape in the New Year:

1

DRINK LEMON WATER. Start the day by drinking a cup of warm water with 1/2 of a lemon and 1 tsp of apple cider vinegar. This will help kickstart your metabolism.

2

STAY HYDRATED. Drink at least 2 liters of water every day. Staying hydrated is really important for many reasons, one of which is that it helps curb hunger. Sometimes, when you feel hungry, you are actually just thirsty. If you drink enough water, you’ll be able to better listen to these cues from your body.

3

FOLLOW A MEAL PLAN. Have your health coach or nutritionist create a 7-day meal plan that is easy to follow, delicious and won’t leave you hungry.

4

EXERCISE Keep up with your Physique 57 classes in studio or On-demand. Aim to take class at least four times a week.

5 6

MIND PORTION SIZES. Make sure the protein and carbs on your plate are no bigger than the size of your palm.

7

EAT EARLY. The earlier you eat dinner, the better. Try to finish by 7pm and slip in a mini overnight fast of approximately 12 – 14 hours. This will give your overworked digestive system a rest.

8

GET SOME REST. Try to get at least 8 hours of sleep each night. If you are sleep deprived, your metabolism will slow down which can lead to weight gain.

9

EAT SLOWLY. It takes about 20 minutes for your brain to get the message from your stomach that you are no longer hungry.

10

28

FILL UP ON FIBER. Ensure you get enough fiber each day by increasing your intake of dark leafy vegetables, berries, oats, chia seeds, flaxseeds, and psyllium husk.

STOCK UP YOUR KITCHEN. Shop for the week ahead during the weekend. This way your fridge, freezer, and pantry will be full with healthy foods and you won’t be tempted to order take out.

reating a family can often come with a lot of ups and downs, especially when it comes to the expectation of having children. While there may be an abundance of highs and lows throughout the process, the rollercoaster ride is still one filled with incredible blessings.

For Stacy and Josh Morris, those blessings were what inspired them to adopt a baby after they had two little boys of their own. “I had always known that at some time in my life I wanted to adopt a baby,” says Morris, who is the third generation owner of White’s Steak and Seafood with her husband as well as working as a makeup artist for SEINT. “I was not really sure how that would happen; and then one day out of the blue, I got a call from a family member saying that there was a three month-old baby that needed a foster home. After talking to my husband and praying about it, a beautiful baby girl was placed in our home.” The next three years continued the rollercoaster ride, bringing with them the uncertainty of whether they would be able to adopt the little girl as well as the intense grief that follows the joy of pregnancy. “During all of this, I’d gotten pregnant again and then found out at my 20-week checkup that I’d lost the baby,” Morris recalls. Naturally, it was an extremely difficult time for the young family; but their faith in God and love for one another saw them through. Eventually, their faith was rewarded with the news that the adoption was going to go through; and the three year-old toddler that had been with them since infancy was officially made a part of their family forever. Now ages 16, 13, and 11, the three Morris children are in the midst of the teenage years and have more independence; and the mother who stayed at home with them for eight years has gone back to work. That means a division of attention and 38

“I feel like the one thing in my life that has truly benefited me—especially as a mom and business owner—has been my salvation and my close walk with Christ. A person can never be perfect at everything in life; but if Jesus is in the lead of your life, it makes a huge difference.”

The Love Parade By Liesel Schmidt

With as many parades as the New Orleans area has, there’s no shortage of opportunities to meet new people. Little did Casey Fredrick know when she met Paul Demma at a St. Patrick’s Day parade in 2010 that she’d found the love of her life. Like all good things, theirs was a relationship that took time; and it took a few years of hanging out and hitting the parade circuits before the two actually started dating. It only took a year of dating, however, for Casey and Paul to realize that they never wanted to celebrate another big event without one another.

“Paul proposed after we closed on the house we built together,” Casey says, recalling the day in May of 2018 when her life changed forever. “His sister and my best friend set up the house with pictures and roses and hid off to the side to document everything as we entered the house.”

ust short of 18 months later, Casey walked down the aisle at St. Peter Catholic Church in Covington on October 5, 2019. Wearing a mermaid style lace gown with a sweetheart neckline and thick, scalloped lace straps with a beaded belt, the blushing bride met her groom at the altar. After exchanging vows as 150 of their closest friends and relatives looked on, the couple were pronounced man and wife; and the newlyweds walked back down the aisle in wedded bliss—the first in line to lead their very own parade.

Ready to party, the Demmas joined their guests for a reception at the Southern Hotel, where everyone enjoyed a cocktail hour of smoked oysters before dining on Southerninspired favorites that included shrimp and grits and a carving station with smoked turkey, accompanied by new potatoes and a vegetable gratin. Fueled up for the dance floor, the crowd busted a move while the DJ played the anthems of the early years of the 2000s—boy bands included. “It was such a fun night, and the dance floor stayed packed,” says Casey, who works as an accountant for a payroll company. “Paul and I are five years apart, but we went to the same elementary school, grew up close to each other, and had many mutual friends. A majority of our guests knew each other because of that, so it brought a lot of people together.” As perfect as the night was, there was one little hiccup…“Paul is a foot and a half taller than me, so I had a pair of six-inch heels custommade so that our height difference wouldn’t be too bad in pictures. Some time at the end of the night, they went missing!” Casey laughs. Height differences aside, Paul, who works in customer support and software implementation for PB&J TV, is Casey’s perfect match— complimentary, like the lemon and raspberry fillings in their wedding cake. Decorated with paisley and wisteria, the elegant confection was four tiers of wedding cake flavored crumb with alternating layers of raspberry or lemon filling that the couple couldn’t wait to cut into. Sweet bites exchanged, the night came to an end, sending the happy couple off to honeymoon in Grand Cayman. A year later, they’ve celebrated their first anniversary and look forward to all the parades they will go to, hand-in-hand, as the years march past.

As he grows bigger and stronger each day, his chances of withstanding any surgeries in the future increase.

At a mere five days old, Samuel Case was diagnosed with a heart murmur. The next day, his doctors found something even more troubling: an L-transposition of the greater arteries, pulmonary stenosis, and VSD. Simply put, the placement of his ventricles and arteries were switched, the blood flow from his left ventricle to his lungs was being blocked, and there was a hole between the right and left pumping chambers of his heart. So many complications for one tiny little heart.

With all the hospitals available in the area, Sam’s parents are thankful for the care they received at OLOL. “We’ve seen excellence, and Dr. Mangat went out of her way many times to ensure that Sam had the best care

BY LIESEL SCHMIDT They say that love makes a house a home, and the saying couldn’t be more fitting for the home that sits at 588 Northwoods Drive. Perfectly situated with a view of the 16th green and the 17th tee in the golf and country club community of Money Hill, the property also overlooks a lake bordered by pine trees, giving it a sense of peace and serenity that is often hard to find—and an idyllic charm perfect for creating a sanctuary.

t was with the future in mind that Cindy Piazza Schick and her husband, Allen, built their house, completing construction of the 10,403 square-foot home in 2016. A golf lover, Allen appreciated the location of the property and dreamed of retirement, while Cindy had visions of large family gatherings. “We built the house with the goal in mind to make it a comfortable home for our children and grandchildren for the holidays and long weekends,” says Cindy, who formerly owned a Pilates studio and currently owns Annunciation Restaurant in the Warehouse District on the Southshore.

“Five of our children live on the South Shore, and one is in Lafayette. I love and enjoy having them come here and spending long weekends, especially at Christmas and Thanksgiving. Two of our sons enjoyed playing golf with my husband; and while the guys played golf, my daughters and daughters-in-law would hang around the kitchen with me, cooking and sharing a bottle of wine (or two) and talking.

56

The grandkids enjoyed riding in the golf cart, playing in the fountain in front of the house, using our large Jacuzzi as a swimming pool. Their favorite thing was to have sleepovers in the media room. We’ve also held engagement parties here for nieces and nephews along with having my entire family come over for Father’s Day and Thanksgiving. I come from a very large family with eight siblings, so we’ve hosted gatherings of over 50 people.” With so many memories in one place, the home is truly built on love. It echoes from every room; and now that Allen has passed, Cindy treasures those memories even more. Determined to continue the traditions that have made the house come alive, she still hosts her family and has those happy gatherings that remind her of the blessings in her life. While the house may now be hers alone, she can still look around and see what she and her husband built together.

Boasting 4 bedrooms and 5 ½ bathrooms, the two-level stucco home is spacious enough to accommodate large family gatherings and special occasions. Two home offices, a gym/sunroom, media room, breakfast area, and open concept living room and dining/ kitchen area with an adjoining wine room. The two laundry rooms and two garages complete the floor plan to create a truly magnificent house built for entertaining, with an elevator to help make traversing the two levels more convenient.

Naturally, Cindy has favorite areas of the home. “When it’s just me, I love sitting on the back patio, enjoying the beautiful view. When all the family is around, I love being in the kitchen,” she says.

Working with builder Norris Grimillion of Grimillion Homes and talented decorator Erin Schaumburg of Eros Home and Clothing, Cindy planned every inch of the home, with carte blanche on everything except a few key areas: “The only input my husband wanted was the exterior of the house, the landscaping, the wine room, and the media room. He did insist that the bathroom in his home office be more manly, so I had to go with darker colors,” Cindy recalls. What resulted was beyond Cindy’s expectations. “Norris and Erin both saw what I wanted, and we created the perfect house that I eventually made a home.”

PEOPLE YOU SHOULD KNOW STORY BY KAYLA BERTUCCI

G

listening lights adorn storefronts, every radio station blasts jolly music of Old Saint Nick, and the magic of Christmas is in the air for many.

However, there is a small demographic in St. Tammany Parish that won’t be gearing up for this holiday like others. While cash flows from the pockets of many people like an endless supply for trendy gifts, some families don’t have the means to provide the type of Christmas they would like for their children. That’s why in 2002, a group of cheerful givers gathered together to form St. Tammany Project Christmas. It’s a mission that is dear to the heart of Jewell Bayhi, a volunteer who has given 18 years of her life to this cause. “My church, Mary Queen of Peace, already played a major role in this ministry and I asked the pastor if I could handle Project Christmas for our parish,” says Jewell, “Each year we adopt 200 children and provide gifts, food, and even clothing items and deliver it to Project Christmas. Then, they are the ones who handle the distribution.” Jewell’s impressive resume keeps her busy in many ways.

Board members and other volunteers work diligently throughout the entire year to ensure donations are coming in as well as other gifts from in-kind partners. Last year, over 400 partners helped Project Christmas by purchasing gifts or donating food & money, including churches, schools, government offices, foundations, civic organizations and over 240 individuals. “Every year, we give the kids three wishes on their Christmas list. Then we meet their wishes as well as gather clothing items in their sizes, so they receive 4 to 7 gifts from Project Christmas,” explains Jewell. “As far as numbers go, we have registered 500 families and 1500 angels (meaning children and seniors). Each family receives a food basket which includes 25-30 selections of dry goods to cook a Christmas dinner and a food certificate to Rouses to purchase perishables such as ham, turkey, or whatever they choose.”

GRACIOUS

LIVING

Reflecting on Christmases from years past, Jewell finds magic and beauty in every memory that comes to mind. There was only one piece missing from these memories, and that’s Jewell’s biggest passion.

Mission work. “You know, I used to be a really big spender during Christmas when it came to my children and nieces and nephews,” she recalls. “I thought you know, this is silly. They have a lot of this stuff already. What’s so great about Project Christmas is I know now there is going to be even more smiling faces on Christmas morning. This selfless act feels more like Christmas than anything else I can do just focusing on my family alone.” “I don’t want any child to do without. No matter what the parent’s circumstances are. I want to give them hope.” Project Christmas allows kids to unwrap hope and have a little faith in a brighter tomorrow.

WYATT

BY LIESEL SCHMIDT

T

wo year-olds are notorious for their temperament…the tantrums, the contrary manner, the constant use of the word “no,” the testing of boundaries. But those are just some of the makings of the age famously referred to as the “terrible twos.” There are also the things that make it a wonderful time: the intense curiosity about the world, the forming of a unique personality, the sponge-like soaking-up of their surroundings. All of it culminates into one tiny little package with so much potential…and so much life.

For Wyatt Chauvin, two has been an age when the future suddenly became uncertain. Noticeably pale to the point of alarm, he was diagnosed with severe anemia after his pediatrician ran tests on his blood to see what was causing his unusual pallor. After being taken by ambulance to Our Lady of the Lake, Wyatt received three blood transfusions to get his dangerously low hemoglobin levels back to normal. “The staff there was unbelievably amazing,” says his mother, Heather, of the care they received at OLOL. “He has a developmental delay and was displaying autism symptoms at the time, and the staff was amazingly patient with him—so calm and reassuring through everything, even when he had ripped out his IV. They explained each step and what to expect. I couldn’t have asked for a better experience.”

Now nearly three years old, Wyatt is doing much better, though he must still be monitored to prevent his hemoglobin levels from becoming too low. “We have to watch what he eats because he has to have plenty of meats and foods with iron,” Heather explains. Still nonverbal, the toddler is nevertheless a tiny ball of personality who inspires his parents every day. “Wyatt’s a tough little guy,” says Heather of the little boy who loves to play outside with his trucks and adores his siblings. “He’s had a rough go at it these first two years; but through everything, he smiles and keeps a positive attitude. Even in the hospital at the end of three long transfusions, he was wanting to play and get into everything. He’s just a strong kid.”

SMILING

THROUGH THE GRIEF

W

hile death may be an inevitable part of life, there’s a certain order that’s expected, an acceptable timeline that everyone seems to anticipate. Birth, childhood, adulthood, then the inevitable end that comes after the greying of heads and the waning of vigor. In between, we live those life experiences that define us and make us who we are…and when those lives are cut short before those experiences can happen, death seems all the more tragic.

At nine years old, Savannah Scharfenstein became one of those tragic stories. Amazingly, when her parents look back on her, they see the little girl who was such a light in their lives during the time that they had her, rather than the child who was taken away from them. It’s a remarkable perspective to have, especially in light of the circumstances that cost her life—but it’s one that has also helped them heal. “She was really full of life,” says her mother, Jennifer. “She was creative, funny, dramatic, and she loved to be in front of a camera in the home movie productions she and her sisters put together. She did gymnastics and dance and loved playing with her sisters. She was also compassionate and liked to play quietly alone. She absolutely loved her sisters and her friends and Jesus. She was also 78

a singer; and one week before God took her home, she sang ‘Happy Birthday Jesus’ in ‘big church’ in front of hundreds of people. She was nervous and a little scared that she wouldn’t be able to do it, but she did fabulously. Only in hindsight did we realize what a gift that was, because the very next Sunday, she was face-to-face with that same Jesus she sang to a week before.” That Sunday, December 10, 2006, was the day their family changed forever. As the excitement of the town Christmas Parade hung in the crisp air, the Scharfensteins joined the crowd, happy to be part of the occasion. It took only a minute, however, for the festivities to turn disastrous when Savannah’s foot was caught in the wheel of a moving trailer and pulled her under, causing fatal injuries. With the help of a memorial fund set up by Jennifer’s cousin at a local Whitney Bank, the Scharfensteins buried their little girl, wrapped in grief but thankful for the knowledge that Jesus had her safely in his arms. Miraculously, they found themselves with an excess of $7000 and a burning question of what to do with it. Seven months of praying later, they had an answer. “We’d felt such relief in not having the financial burden on top of the sorrow that we decided to try to help other parents grieving their child.”

Using that $7000 as a foundation, they started Savannah Smiles in August of 2007, creating a non-profit organization whose main mission is taking daily calls from families who have lost a child to provide them with emotional support as well as help with funeral costs. In addition to the main ministry, they also established Savannah Manor to help hurting families, offering a program and the use of apartments in Slidell specifically for families who have fallen on difficult times and need help getting back on their feet. Another ancillary ministry is Camp Savannah, a three-day event which gives children grieving over the loss of a loved one a chance to lose themselves in fun and find solace in other children experiencing the same thing. “I wanted to create an environment where children could be around other children who were grieving so they would see that they are not alone. It’s centered on healing with the help of Jesus because He’s that only place where true comfort can be found.” Since 2007, Savannah Smiles has helped more than 1600 families, most of which are in southeast Louisiana. Funding comes from their annual golf tournament and corporate grants including a core funding grant from BCM (Baptist Community Ministry) as well as Individual donations.

SINCE 2007, SAVANNAH SMILES HAS HELPED MORE THAN 1600 FAMILIES, MOST OF WHICH ARE IN SOUTHEAST LOUISIANA. “My husband describes grief using the analogy of the towers falling in New York on 9/11,” says Jennifer. “All of a sudden, you are surrounded by darkness and you CANNOT see your way out. You just take one step at a time because you can barely see your feet in front of you until the dust begins to settle and you can make out the voice of someone just ahead of you, calling for you to follow them. Through Savannah Smiles, we are the ones reaching out to those in such a dark place saying, ‘This is the way towards healing.’”

NEW & noteworthy Three North Oaks Clinical Pharmacists among Elite Group

Jennifer Bowles

Sabrina Moragne

Whitney Rogers

[HAMMOND, LA.] — Pharmacists play a vital role in any health and recovery plan. It is the pharmacist’s responsibility to obtain and evaluate medications specified for each patient’s medical conditions or status in order to help optimize medication management and prevent errors. Given the complex nature of some insurance and reimbursement plans, pharmacists also are tasked with making sure that these same medications are readily available as effective and affordable treatment options. At North Oaks, patients benefit from the knowledge and expertise of an entire department of pharmaceutical experts, three of whom recently achieved additional certifications through the Board of Pharmaceutical Specialties (BPS). Clinical Pharmacists Jennifer Bowles and Sabrina Moragne earned board certification in Pharmacotherapy, which involves the treatment of disease with medications, and Whitney Rogers earned board certification in Critical Care Pharmacy, which focuses on managing the safe and effective use of medications in critically ill patients. By earning BPS certification, Bowles, Moragne and Rogers join an elite, worldwide group of 46,000 pharmaceutical professionals, of which only 161 are certified in Louisiana. Board certification through BPS is recognized worldwide as the gold standard for determining which pharmacists are uniquely qualified to contribute at advanced practice levels.

The hospital’s verified and certified Level II Trauma Center will remain under Brignac’s auspices as it has for the past four years. He will take on the added responsibility of leading the Ortho/Neuro, General Surgery and Surgical Intensive Care Units. As director, he will oversee staff education, clinical practice supervision, maintenance of appropriate care resources, budgeting and compliance with applicable regulations, policies and procedures. “Tyler has forged strong working relationships with our staff at large and excels at coordinating patient care across multiple areas of the health system. No doubt, this will continue to serve him well in his expanded role,” affirms Terri Lewis, vice president of Emergency and Surgical Services at North Oaks Medical Center. “He is truly dedicated to our patients, his profession and improving lives.” To learn more about North Oaks Health System’s surgical services, visit www.northoaks.org.

FMOLHS Hospitals Recognized for Efforts to Increase Organ, Eye and Tissue Donation Awareness

Moragne adds, “Ultimately, the goal is for patients to benefit from improved health, outcomes and experiences, and decreased medication costs.”

[BOGALUSA, LA.] — Franciscan Missionaries of Our Lady Health System (FMOLHS) hospitals in Louisiana and Mississippi earned platinum recognition for their efforts to increase organ, eye and tissue donor registrations and awareness of the need across both states. This award was presented by the Louisiana Organ Procurement Agency (LOPA) and Mississippi Organ Recovery Agency (MORA) as part of the Workplace Partnership for Life (WPFL) - a national initiative uniting the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and the organ donation community with workplaces throughout the nation to spread the word about the importance of donation.

“We look forward to using the knowledge gained from these certifications to forward the health system’s mission of improving lives every time and with every touch,” affirms Rogers.

“Increasing awareness of organ donation has an incredible impact on patients and their families,” said Steven Gremillion, MD, Chief Medical Officer of FMOLHS. “In each of our communities, thousands of people are in need of organ, eye and tissue transplants. By raising awareness for the need, we are increasing recipient matches and highlighting the selfless actions of these silent heroes.”

“Having and maintaining these specialty board certifications strengthens our ability to collaborate with each patient’s overall care team to provide safe and comprehensive care – even in complex cases,” Bowles explains.

Goings Promoted to North Oaks Hospice Director [HAMMOND, LA.] — Lisa Goings, RN, has been promoted to director of North Oaks Hospice. A 27-year veteran employee of North Oaks Health System, Goings will guide clinical specialists in attending to the medical, pain management, emotional and spiritual needs of hospice patients facing life-limiting illness, as well as bereavement follow-up for their families and caregivers. She will drive all aspects of hospice operations, including but not limited to, staff education, clinical practice supervision, maintenance of appropriate care resources, budgeting and compliance with applicable regulations, laws, policies and procedures. From bedside care to management and health care finance and compliance, Goings has garnered a broad spectrum of experience in many aspects of the medical field during her North Oaks tenure. “Lisa’s compassion and personal belief in living life to the fullest are sure to set our Hospice team up for success now and well into the future,” asserts Chief Nursing Officer Kirsten Riney, MSN, MHA, RN. “After all, making the most of every day is at the heart of Hospice’s philosophy.” Goings earned a bachelor’s degree in Nursing from Southeastern Louisiana University. If you know someone coping with a terminal illness who may benefit from hospice care, call North Oaks Hospice at (985) 230-7620 for a complimentary consultation with no obligation.
