Kati Morse LeBreton
Kati Morse LeBreton, Vice President and Director of POWER at Fidelity Bank, is on a mission to empower women entrepreneurs to achieve their dreams. Taking on this role in August 2023, Kati embraced the opportunity to lead a program that supports women business owners with financial guidance, educational resources, networking, and professional development. “POWER is all about realizing the potential of women entrepreneurs,” Kati shares. “We aim to build a thriving community that empowers women to grow, innovate, and succeed.” Under her leadership, the nearly 2,000-member program has become a lifeline for women across Southeast Louisiana, connecting them with opportunities that help them reach new heights.
Kati’s journey to this role is a testament to resilience, adaptability, and the courage to follow her passions.
A self-described “portfolio professional,” Kati’s career has spanned several industries, each leaving an indelible mark on her journey. A scholarship athlete at Southeastern Louisiana University with dual degrees in Communication, she started out in sports broadcasting, then became Tulane Football’s first Director of New Media. “Those years were formative,” she reflects. “I had the privilege of being part of something big, helping to shape Tulane’s brand with a phenomenal coach and team.”
In 2020, the pandemic brought new challenges and an opportunity to reconnect with her roots in Ponchatoula. Undeterred, Kati pivoted to community roles with the Hammond Downtown Development District and Southeastern’s Alumni Relations.
“Looking back, every role prepared me for the work I do now—giving back, lifting others, and creating opportunities.” Whether she’s organizing events, applying for grants, or mentoring, Kati’s broad skill set is driven by her desire to make a difference.
“We aim to build a thriving community that empowers women to grow, innovate, and succeed.”
Despite a packed schedule, Kati pours her heart into everything she does, including her two businesses. “The Redhead Method” empowers people of all ages to thrive in the digital space, and her podcast “The Big Bad Boot,” co-hosted with her brother, brings laughter as they explore Louisiana’s quirkiest tales. “Balancing it all can be a challenge,” she admits, “but I believe that when you’re passionate about something, you find the time and energy.”
What keeps Kati moving forward are the relationships she’s built. “The women I meet through POWER have enriched my life in ways I could never have imagined,” she says. “Each day, I’m reminded that we are stronger together, and that’s what motivates me to keep pushing forward.” Known for her authenticity, humor, and optimism, Kati strives to inspire others through her actions. “My goal is to meet people exactly where they are, make them feel seen, and help them find a path forward. If I can do that and make them smile, I’ve done my job.”
A proud Northshore native, Kati celebrates the area’s uniqueness, from its local gems to the welcoming community spirit. Alongside her husband, Michael, she finds joy in simple moments—whether on the tennis court, at the theater, or exploring Louisiana’s beauty. As a leader, mentor, and champion of women, Kati believes in the power of connection, community, and courage. Her story reminds us that with an open heart, a positive mindset, and a willingness to serve, we can make an extraordinary impact wherever we are.

Direct FROM THE GROWER
The idea for Garden Spot of Mandeville began decades ago when Judy King started growing ferns in greenhouses on her property, in Bush, Louisiana. Ferns take a while to grow to a size in which they are sellable and so Tommy, King’s husband, started growing vegetables to sell since they are faster and smaller. It was at this time he realized the potential of growing annuals and perennials and selling them to friends.
Word began to spread and people from all over started coming to the greenhouses in search of beautiful plants. They eventually had the idea to open The Garden Spot of Franklinton, an outdoor store created to sell locally grown, quality plants. The store became very popular, enticing people from all over and so the King’s decided to open a store in Mandeville to reach a larger audience.
Thus Garden Spot of Mandeville was born and today both locations are run by Tommy and Judy’s daughter, Sandy, and her husband Tony. Just as they started, annuals and perennials are still grown at the local greenhouses and both locations continue to serve their communities well with high quality, locally grown plant materials and expert customer service.
Garden Spot of Mandeville is a family-owned retail garden center, offering customers a wide selection of high-quality products. Our annuals and perennials are grown at our nursery located in Bush, Louisiana, and our shrubs and trees are sourced from local nurseries so you can rest assured that your plants are coming directly from the grower to you.

SARA AND SAUL RUBIO’S DREAM HOME
WHERE MODERN DESIGN
In December 2020, Sara & Saul Rubio completed their dream home, a breathtaking 10,000 squarefoot mid-century modern masterpiece that perfectly blends cutting-edge design with the charm of nature. Nestled among stunning live oaks on a hilltop, this two-level haven took a year to build, and every inch of it is a reflection of the Rubios' personal style and love for family.
With 15 rooms, including seven spacious bedrooms and eight luxurious bathrooms, this home has been meticulously crafted to be both functional and awe-inspiring. Separate from the main house, the pool house and casita provide extra spaces for relaxation and entertainment. But the heart of the home is undoubtedly the outdoor kitchen and expansive backyard, where Sara and Saul love hosting friends and family for cookouts and lively gatherings. “It’s where we spend most of our time when the weather is nice,” Sara shares. “It’s truly a space built for fun and connection.”
One of the first things guests notice when they arrive is the striking architectural style. It’s bold and modern—a real showstopper in the Northshore area—but it’s the way the home embraces the towering live oaks that really sets it apart. “The trees were the reason we chose this property,” Saul explains. “Our architect, Tom Pistorius, made countless visits to make sure everything was perfectly designed around them. It was important to us that nature was part of the home’s story.”
Inside, the Rubio home radiates a laidback, lived-in vibe that balances modern elegance with cozy comfort. “We didn’t want a showpiece; we wanted a place where people feel at home,” says Sara. From the white oak flooring to the carefully selected décor—courtesy of design teams Casey from Chaleureux in Ponchatoula and Erin from Eros in Madisonville—the space is an effortlessly chic mix of neutral tones and personal touches.
“We didn’t want a showpiece; we wanted a place where people feel at home.”
The kitchen, though, is where the magic happens. It’s an entertainer’s paradise, with a large island, Viking appliances, and quartz countertops. “Saul and I love to cook together,” says Sara. “We’re always hosting, and this kitchen is the heart of it all.” The master suite is equally luxurious, featuring white oak flooring and marble tile in the bathroom, creating a serene, spa-like escape.
For the Rubio's, this house is much more than just a home—it’s a shared project that symbolizes their partnership and love. With breathtaking views of their lush garden and a space designed to bring people together, Sara and Saul have truly built a home filled with heart, laughter, and unforgettable memories.

Holly Baudier
Holly Baudier’s life is one of love, faith, and dedication, as she pours her heart into both her family and her work. A stayat-home mom to four wonderful children and the right hand to her husband, Tim, in his real estate and accounting businesses, Holly has mastered the art of balancing it all. Her days are filled with the responsibilities of being room mom at Northlake Christian School, cheer mom for her daughters’ competitive team, and managing the family’s daily operations. But amidst the busyness, Holly never loses sight of what matters most—being present for her children and fostering a home filled with love and faith.
Holly’s journey with Tim, her high school sweetheart, began when they met at church as teenagers. Seventeen years later, their love is as strong as ever, and together, they’ve built a beautiful family with their four children—Asia (9), Penelope (7), Pascal (5), and Adeline (3). Holly describes her family as the heart of everything she does. “I want my children to remember having dinner together every night, movie nights at our farmhouse, and waking up early to see my Bible and coffee on the kitchen counter. I want them to know that family is everything.”
The flexibility of helping run the family business has been a blessing for Holly. She cherishes being able to attend school events, take extra photos for parents who can’t be there, and ensure her children always feel her presence. “As a mom, I have the gift of being present,” Holly says. “It’s something I didn’t fully realize the importance of until I became a mother. I’m grateful for the opportunity to be involved in their lives in a way that wouldn’t be possible if I worked a traditional 40-hour week.”
One of Holly’s proudest accomplishments is teaching her children the importance of humility and ownership. She’s worked hard to instill in them the value of apologizing when they’re wrong and learning from their mistakes. “Hearing my children apologize without being prompted makes me so proud,” Holly shares. “I know they’ll grow up to have meaningful relationships because they’ve learned to take ownership of their actions.”
Holly also finds great joy in the simple moments with her children. From birthday traditions, where the kids choose between a trip or a party, to teaching them the importance of listening, each moment is an opportunity for connection. “My kids have taught me the importance of slowing down and truly listening,” she says. “Their stories may be long, but they matter. I’ve learned that if I ask how their day was, I need to be prepared to listen, because those little stories are where I’ll hear what’s in their hearts.”
As Holly approaches her 40th birthday, she reflects on her journey with gratitude and grace. “Turning 40 feels like a joyful ride,” she says. “I’ve learned to relax, give my worries to the Lord, and trust in His plan for our lives. My family is my greatest blessing, and I’m thankful for every moment I get to spend with them, growing together in love and faith.”
At Dr. Todd S. Brasuell Pediatric Dentistry, our mission is to treat each child as if they are our own, to deliver the highest quality dental care, to introduce dentistry to children in a fun and entertaining environment, and to emphasize pediatric dentistry at a young age that will last a lifetime!

CRAB & SHRIMP
STUFFED MIRLITONS
Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday, and I am excited to share one of my favorite dishes that are always on our table during the holiday. Crab and Shrimp stuffed mirlitons are always a hit, and it is a perfect time to showcase our fresh, local seafood.
INGREDIENTS:
4-6 mirlitons
1 lb of peeled and deveined shrimp
1 tbsp Slap Ya Mama Cajun seasoning
1/2 stick butter
1 large onion diced
1/2 cup celery chopped
1/2 cup bell pepper chopped
3 tbsp garlic minced
1 tsp salt
1 tsp pepper
1/2 lb crab meat
1/2 cup Italian bread crumbs
DIRECTIONS:
In a large pot, bring the mirlitons to a boil and boil until you can poke easily with a fork- about 25-30 minutes
Drain and cool
Chop up the shrimp and place in a bowl, season with half of the Slap Ya Mama seasoning
Cover and refrigerate until use
Remove the seeds from the mirlitons
Scoop out the pulp and reserve (leave the shell about 1/4 inch thick if you want to stuff the shell with the dressing)
Preheat oven to 350
Melt butter in a large sauté pan
Sauté down the onions, celery, and bell pepper until tenderabout 5 minutes
Add mirliton pulp
Sprinkle remaining Slap Ya Mama seasoning, salt & pepper
Cook for 8-10 minutes on low heat
Add shrimp and cook until pink
Add breadcrumbs
Adjust seasoning
Stuff shells or bake in a baking dish for about 25 minutes
IMPACT & GIVE BACK
In the heart of St. Tammany Parish, Habitat for Humanity St. Tammany West (Habitat STW) has been quietly weaving hope and resilience into the fabric of the community for over four decades. Founded in 1981, this 501(c)(3) non-profit organization began with the vision of a few local changemakers inspired by Habitat for Humanity International’s powerful mission. Reverend Stephen Holzhalb returned to Covington after attending a conference, ignited with a vision from Americus, Georgia, where Habitat’s founders, Clarence Jordan and Millard Fuller, were pioneering the concept of partnership housing. Upon his return, he joined forces with activists like Emily Diamond, Sister Cathy Kent, and Peggy Guidry, who were determined to address the area’s pressing housing needs. Together, they laid the foundation for what would become Habitat STW, a beacon of hope for families seeking not just homes, but a secure future.
Through years of dedication, Habitat STW has grown to help hundreds of local families—312 and counting—find stable, affordable housing, each home representing a fresh start and a new chance. Families in the program work alongside Habitat’s construction team, contributing “sweat equity” that not only reduces the cost of their home but deepens their connection to it.
This mutual investment extends far beyond the closing of the sale. Habitat STW’s commitment to these families continues for as long as they need, offering post-purchase support that includes guidance on homeowners’ insurance, property taxes, and financial stability to ensure they’re secure and supported.
The story of Heather Levin, one of Habitat STW’s successful homeowners, is a testament to the profound impact of this organization. Once homeless, Heather learned of Habitat through her work at Family Promise of St. Tammany. After seeing another Family Promise client achieve homeownership through Habitat STW, she began to believe it could be her reality, too. By October 2020, Heather entered the Habitat program, and just two years later, she and her four children moved into their own home. Since then, Heather’s life has been transformed. She has advanced to the position of Associate Director at Family Promise, saving for her family’s future, and is even dreaming of continuing her education in business. Her story is just one example of the many lives Habitat STW has uplifted, creating a ripple effect that extends across generations.
Habitat STW faces formidable challenges, especially as the cost of construction has skyrocketed and affordable homeowners’ insurance becomes scarce. Even in the face of these difficulties, Habitat STW presses forward, advocating for policies that make homeownership accessible and sustainable. Their ReStore—a thrift store offering donated furniture, appliances, and materials— supports this mission by generating revenue for their building projects while providing affordable items for the entire community.
Habitat STW thrives thanks to the unwavering support of volunteers and community partners. Whether it’s Chevron’s consistent sponsorship and volunteer days or partnerships with organizations like Family Promise and United Way, these collaborations amplify Habitat’s impact, connecting families with the resources and opportunities they need to succeed. Through initiatives like the Community Partners Breakfast, Habitat STW invites the community to see firsthand the difference that affordable housing can make, offering an inspiring glimpse into their mission of building homes, hope, and a better future.
For Habitat STW, affordable housing is more than bricks and mortar; it’s about dignity, security, and the chance for families to grow without the fear of instability. It’s about providing children a safe place to thrive, breaking cycles of poverty, and building communities that are as resilient as the families they serve. As St. Tammany Parish continues to grow, Habitat STW remains a steady force, ensuring that everyone has a place to call home, where new stories of hope and possibility are written every day.

Brigitte Ryan
From New Orleans Adventures to an African Dream Honeymoon
Brigitte McAtee and Ryan Joshua Yates’ love story is one woven from life’s beautiful simplicities and enduring moments. Their journey together began just before the world changed with the COVID-19 pandemic, and through every twist and turn, their bond only deepened. After nearly four years of love, laughter, and shared adventures, they exchanged vows on October 7, 2023, surrounded by family and friends in a celebration that perfectly reflected who they are as a couple.
For Brigitte, keeping her maiden name was important, as she had already established a successful career as a veterinarian. Though she didn’t officially take Ryan’s last name, they affectionately refer to themselves as “The McYates.” This lighthearted spirit is a testament to the joyful, down-to-earth connection they share.
Their engagement story, like their love, was full of simplicity and authenticity. Ryan proposed right before Hurricane Ida, making the moment both unexpected and unforgettable. The couple, known for their love of biking around New Orleans, had stopped by the lakefront for a casual picnic of margaritas and Mexican food—two of their favorite things—when Ryan popped the question. With the sunset glistening over the water and the comfort of their shared passion for the city surrounding them, Brigitte said yes to a lifetime of love and adventure. It was a moment that embodied who they are—no grand gestures, just a genuine, heartfelt expression of love.
Their wedding at Paradigm Gardens was a beautiful reflection of their personalities. Intimate and full of warmth, the venue's natural charm, with lush greenery and a cozy ambiance, provided the perfect backdrop for their special day. The couple chose a layout where they were surrounded by their loved ones, creating an intimate circle of love. The ceremony was simple yet deeply meaningful, with every detail thoughtfully planned, from Brigitte’s lace-covered, form-fitting gown with its elegant train to the soft autumn colors of eucalyptus, sage, and rust that adorned the space.
A unique and touching element was the inclusion of their beloved dogs, Calvin and Ellie Mae, who donned tuxes and floral collars, bringing a sense of home and family to their celebration. Family was at the heart of their wedding, with Ryan’s relatives even traveling from Germany to celebrate. They brought custom wedding beer steins, adding a personal and heartfelt touch to the occasion.
The reception was filled with laughter and joy, especially when Ryan and his friends upheld their tradition of shotgunning beers. The night grew even more memorable when Ryan took to the dance floor, showcasing his Magic Mike moves to “Pony” by Ginuwine—just as his grandmother made her graceful exit. The evening was a blend of elegance and humor, with guests enjoying delicious food prepared on-site, goats to pet, and even temporary tattoos bearing the phrase “Take a shot, we tied the knot.”
After the festivities, Brigitte and Ryan spent time with loved ones in Gulf Shores, Alabama, for a quiet minimoon. However, the couple just celebrated their official dream honeymoon in South Africa and Malawi, a trip they had long looked forward to. The stunning landscapes and once-in-a-lifetime experiences marked the perfect start to their next chapter together. Now back in New Orleans, they continue to explore life, always ready for their next adventure, hand in hand.

Mr. Christian MONSON
Who, specifically, in your life influenced your decision to pursue a career in educational leadership?
My decision to pursue a career in educational leadership was influenced by several coaches throughout my athletic journey. Henry Rando, my high school football coach at East Jefferson, instilled in me the values of hard work, attention to detail, and a no-excuses mentality. His emphasis on these principles not only shaped me as an athlete but also laid the foundation for my approach to leadership.
As I chose my degree, I realized I wanted to make a meaningful difference, and education was the perfect fit. The leadership skills I developed through sports have directly influenced my vision for the roles I aspire to hold in educational leadership. I am committed to embodying the same values I learned from my coaches, inspiring the next generation to reach their full potential.
What is your biggest challenge as a principal?
As a principal, my biggest challenge is communicating that college is just one of many viable pathways for our graduates. While pursuing higher education is important, our local workforce offers numerous opportunities that don’t necessarily require a college degree. Many of these positions come with competitive salaries and only require specific certifications, which can be obtained right here in our community.
What do you feel is the biggest reward in your role as a principal?
The biggest reward in my role as principal is hearing how much students enjoy coming to Mandeville High School. While I acknowledge the importance of ACT scores, what truly keeps me awake at night is ensuring our school environment is safe and supportive. When students share that they feel secure, have fun, and see opportunities for personal growth, it reaffirms my commitment to our mission.
How do you foster a positive and engaging learning environment within the school?
To foster a positive and engaging learning environment, I prioritize listening, visibility, and collaboration. Each spring, I meet with the newly elected Student Council board to discuss the positive changes they envision as key stakeholders. Their insights drive our initiatives and help shape our campus culture.
I’m fortunate to collaborate with an incredible staff who provide valuable feedback. I thrive on collaborating with them to translate this feedback into actionable steps, continuously improving our environment for both students and educators.
If you could leave your students with one lasting message as they graduate, what would it be?
At Mandeville High, our motto is “Seas the Day!” I want students to carry this message with them throughout their life: Every day presents a choice— you can either get better or get worse. Strive and fight each day to be a better student, sibling, friend, and person. This motto encourages you to embrace each moment and live life to the fullest, without regrets. Remember, it’s the small, daily efforts that lead to a fulfilling and meaningful life.
The Annual Fall for Art event was a resounding success, featuring live music, delicious food and beverages, and a thrilling dance performance of “Thriller” to capture the Halloween spirit. With over 30 booths and every Downtown Covington gallery participating, it became a vibrant celebration of art and creativity for all.
PHYLLIS BEISER
Growing up in the swamps and marsh lands of South Louisiana provided me with a vast and unique world from which to create. It is my love of nature and wildlife, mostly coastal birds and treasures from the Gulf of Mexico that inspires most of my art. My art can be found at Saladino Gallery in Covington as well as and several other galleries in South Louisiana, South Mississippi, South Alabama and South Florida.
