A DOGS

#AdventureInLancashire A while ago my humans decided to book a short break in Lancashire and guess what? I was invited along too!

The Golden Ball of Longton

I

must admit I was expecting to be put in the worst room, with lots of waiting outside or being left in my bed, while my humans ate out and did lots of fun things, but the folks in Lancashire are genuinely lovely people and I was treated like a VIP (very important pet).

First thing was to book a hotel that would make me feel as welcome as the humans. There were lots of fancy looking places to stay, from luxury glamping to gorgeous boutique hotels or secluded self-catering, which would guarantee me lots of lovely new sniffing adventures. We finally settled on dog friendly Mowbreck Holiday Park. It seemed like forever waiting to pack up and head out, and when the day eventually came, I was so excited I couldn’t settle in the car, so my humans decided this would be a good excuse to stop off at Gisburn Forest and stretch their legs. An excellent choice by them as I loved it, with so much to explore and the hills were great to run down. All that running was hungry work, so we decided to stop off for lunch at The Golden Ball of Longton. Not sitting outside for me! I was given a treat on arrival and a bed to rest my paws in, although I didn’t rest long before the delicious scent of food filled my nostrils, and guess what? It was for me! Not just leftovers, but my very own doggy meal 56 |

#AdventureInLancashire

|

from the dog menu, it was so tasty, I wish we could come here all the time. With full bellies and happy hearts, we headed for an afternoon on the beach at St Annes. We don’t get to go to the beach a lot, so I was very excited! My humans had arranged for us to rent a St Annes Beach Hut, which all well behaved doggies, which I am, are allowed in. It was great to chill out and get the occasional snuggle but I much preferred being out on the beach where I could dig, run and play frisbee! I even met some new friends and got the chance to splash in the sea with them. Totally worn out, we finally headed to Mowbreck Holiday Park, and it really was fabulous. Lots of grass and woodlands to explore and ALL the staff loved me and promised lots of good walkies in the area. The caravan was lovely and spacious, with two big decking areas to sunbathe on. All that exploring was tiring work, so I went to find my bed to rest my paws and catch some sleep before another busy day tomorrow.

visitlancashire.com

The next morning, we packed our bags, got in the car and set off for another adventure. Riding in the car is so much fun, especially when my ears flap in the wind, and after a short journey we arrived at Samlesbury Hall.

Railway, Rawtenstall station. Jumping on the steam train from here, I loved looking out the window and so did my humans! The countryside views were beautiful, and I saw lots of cows and sheep.

Dogs aren’t allowed in the main hall, but we were able to explore the beautiful grounds, with lots to see and sniff. We then stopped at the brand new Heritage Café where my humans enjoyed a delicious afternoon tea whilst I caught up on sleep.

Riding the train to Heywood and back, we got off at Rawtenstall and went to find something to eat, we decided to check out the newly extended Rawtenstall Market. I am not normally allowed to go shopping so this felt like a real treat, and there were plenty of delicious street food vendors for the humans.

Snoozing over the adventure continues, this time we were heading on a circular walk from Nabs Head, it was so much fun! There was a river, woods and plenty of hills, my humans loved the views too, but I was more interested in playing fetched with my ball. After the walk we were all super tired, so decided to head back to the caravan for some tea in front of the TV before heading to bed. Our last day was very exciting as I got to go on my very first steam train! After packing our bags and checking out, we had a short drive over to the East Lancashire

St Annes Beach Hut

Because I had been such a good boy my humans decided to go for one final walk, up to see the spectacular Halo. You can see it from the car window, but it is so much better close up! Then it was home time. I walked so much on our little break so was definitely ready for a good snooze, but I do hope we have another trip to Lancashire soon as there were so many places we couldn’t fit in. Woof!
