Venture Melbourne The New Wave

The New Wave

Take a day or stay overnight to check out all that’s happening in Melbourne’s north. In the Park

If you’ve already mastered surfing, go directly to URBNSURF’s 33 the Point. With both right and left breaks there are sessions for everyone, from an intermediate surfer to expert. Each session is an hour long, the waves range from one to two metres, and numbers are capped so everyone gets a fair go. Haven’t got a board or wetsuit? Don’t worry, you can rent them.

Families could easily spend all day in the pools and landscaped spaces at the water park. Book a lagoon-side cabana, hit the hot tubs or browse the surf shop. Plus, this is the home of Melbourne’s first Three Blue Ducks restaurant, serving an all-day menu featuring local produce, including herbs from the kitchen garden. If you want to stay close and extend the fun, book a room at nearby Quest Melbourne Airport 34 . Its apartments are great for families. + urbnsurf.com + questapartments.com.au

For Beginners Never surfed before? That’s not a problem. The Bays is the calmer pool at URBNSURF and it’s here that beginners with softboards either have a crack themselves or join a lesson. Even if a board doesn’t appeal, you can buy a two-hour swim session and take to the crystal blue water for a splash.
