FAMOUS FACES Local Lad Kit Harington
• Kit Harington moved to Worcestershire at the age of 11. "I love Worcester for its size. It isn't a large city but it isn't small enough to be claustrophobic”. • He left for a London drama school at 18 having developed his skills at Worcester Sixth Form College. • He regularly returns to home to visit his parents, friends and local charities he supports . • He completed training in ice wall climbing and rock climbing for his best known role as Jon Snow in Game of Thrones. • He prefers filming in open locations compare to a closed studio. • A fan of Worcester Warriors, Harington played rugby at high school. • Kit enjoys writing in his free time, he co-wrote a series called Gunpowder for the BBC based on his ancestor Robert Catesby on his mothers side, conspiring to kill King James I, an ancestor on his fathers side.
Jenny Lind & The Greatest Showman • The Swedish Nightingale, Jenny Lind was born in 1820 in Sweden. • She became famous as an opera singer before retiring aged 29. • In 1850 Lind sailed to America to tour after being approached by P.T. Barnum, as portrayed in The Greatest Showman. • Lind donated money from the tour to charities to ensure free school education in Sweden. • Lind lived her final years at Wynd’s Point on the Malvern Hills. • Her final public performance was on 23 July 1883 at the Royal Malvern Spa Hall, West Malvern • She is buried in Great Malvern Cemetery.
