US Presidents Visit Worcester City
Worcester is home to the first and final battle in the English Civil War (1642-51), as such the county sparked the curiosity of Thomas Jefferson. In 1786 along with his colleague John Adams, they visited Fort Royal Hill to see the site where ‘liberty was fought for and won. Visit The Commandery and learn about the English Civil War. In 1651, it formed King Charles I headquarters for his troops before the final battle. Find out how the wars shaped England’s politics and the concepts of liberty and democracy. Just two years after Jefferson’s visit, the experience helped draft the US Constitution.

The D-Day Landings were the largest seaborne invasion in history and the pinnacle of our special wartime relationship with the US.
