Gift of Service is an annual Division 7 South event that is a day full of service held at Sacramento State University where Key Clubbers from all across the division gather to work on several different projects in a variety of workshops. This event holds a special place in the hearts of many Key Club members because it’s a special opportunity for members to meet with Circle K members from Sacramento State. The day is not only meant for service but it also is an excellent chance to meet new people and make new friends! The service projects that are featured at this event usually revolve around making gifts such as hats, scarves, or cards with well wishes for the local hospitalized children in light of the holiday season. The date for this event will be announced soon so please look forward to it!
Throughout the month of October Franklin Key Club has been promoting our charity fundraiser and service opportunity Trick or Treat for UNICEF! UNICEF ( United Nations Children’s Fund ) is a program that provides humanitarian and developmental assistance to children and mothers in developing countries. Their purpose is to protect and defend the rights of every child. The Trick or Treat for UNICEF fundraiser is meant to help children facing hardships from the recent natural disasters that have occurred around the world such as the hurricanes that struck Haiti and the Caribbean, the earthquakes in Mexico, and many more. We are proud and honored to be partnering with UNICEF and we hope that you are making your best effort to pick up a box and give donations to this amazing program! Boxes are due November 2nd to any executive or extended board officer so please turn them in promptly in return for community service hours! Thank you!

October DCM + Spirit Festival
The focus of the October DCM and Spirit Festival was to prepare Division Seven South for Fall Rally North! Once club updates and division updates were given, our Spirit Team Coordinators got right down to training everyone on the cheers. Our club’s spirit coordinators Jason Lam and Emily Chau helped to lead groups through all the cheers from “Monster Pride” to “Dynamite” ! After a few practices everyone was getting pumped for Fall Rally. The DCM ended with a big spirit battle between the two halves of the DCM attendees. The DCM overall was a great success and the spirit festival played a major role in advancing Division Seven South all the way to the final round at Fall Rally North’s cheer session! Thank you to everyone who worked to plan this meeting and to all attendees!

Fall Rally North
Fall Rally North 2017 was an event to remember! 45 members of Franklin Key Club took a bus to join the rest of Division Seven South in Vallejo at Six Flags to show our spirit and raise money for PTP! We as a division were able to raise $2,100 towards the Pediatric Trauma Program. These funds will got to raising awareness to the major issue of pediatric trauma, which is the number one leading cause of death in children ages 14 or younger. We cheered our hearts out at the rally and made it all the way to the final round! Though we didn’t win the spirit stick this year, I couldn’t be prouder of what we monsters accomplished. The day was fun and a great chance for members to meet Key Clubbers from all different places! It really goes to say that Key Club is a family after all.
Fall Rally North
“Thank you to my home club and for Division Seven South for an amazing Fall Rally. I had so much fun spending time with all of you at Six Flags and I love you all so much. I can’t wait to see you again at the next fall rally!” - Emily Chau ; Spirit Coordinator
“This last Fall Rally was definitely one for the books, from cheering my heart out with the rest of my division and spirit committee to meeting all these new KEY-UTIES, it was BEEyond amazing. I made so may new friends and met so many people from all over Northern California. Hope to see everyone at DCON!” - Jason Lam; Spirit Coordinator
Urban Cow Half Marathon
The Urban Cow Half Marathon finds its roots in the historic cow town of Sacramento where the first race was held in 1976 with nearly 1000 racers. The tradition in Sacramento has continued till today where every year racers gather to run a 5k run, half marathon, or a partner run. This event is a big part of our community and many community members and families come out to this event. Key Club is happy to serve at the Urban Cow Half Marathon to help runners while they run and the event coordinators so that the event goes smoothly! This event is very popular amongst our members and we hope to serve here more in the future!
Sheldon High School Vendor and Craft Fair
“[At this event] Sophia, Joia, and I attended Sheldon’s third annual crafts fair. There, vendors sold items such as assorted foods, jewelry, seasonal apparel, and homemade crafts. Throughout the fair on display were paintings and smaller trinkets for visitors to observe and buy. We spent our time setting up tables, hanging posters, and directing guests if they had any questions. The event was successful and those who attended had a good time” - Jai-Ren Bernardino McGuiness
Sacramento Aloha Festival
The Sacramento Aloha Festival is an event held to commemorate the history and culture of the Polynesian and Hawaiian people who come together on this day to celebrate with poly dance performances, educational exhibits, workshops, and educational speakers. The activities that are offered range from arts and crafts to learning the native Hawaiian language so there’s something for everyone. Franklin Key Clubbers volunteer at this event to help in guiding attendees and setting up the event area so that everything runs smoothly. We are happy to partner with the event managers for the Aloha Festival in order to serve our community at this exciting event! Many Franklin Key Club members attended this year, thank you to all who served!
Night Nation Run
“Volunteering at the Night Nation Run was really fun because there was great music, the energy was positive and hyped, and volunteers were able to have fun as well. I think it’s always memorable volunteering at Runs because after you always get to see everyone happy and fulfilled faces after completing the race. It was also exciting seeing all the participants get ready while dancing during the before party in their bright, neon outfits. This run was very different from most runs I’ve been to as it incorporated a concert and was held at night. I’m definitely looking forward to volunteering for this event again next year, and perhaps even signing up for the race myself” - Jackie Yu
