October is packed full of fun and exciting events for Key Club members, the biggest one being Fall Rally North! Every year Key Clubs from all across Northern California gather at Six Flags Discovery Kingdom in Vallejo to cheer our hearts out, show our spirit, and raise money for the Pediatric Trauma Program! The spirit rally is a great way to meet and bond with other key clubbers whom we’d otherwise never have met and new Key Club members often times cite this event as their defining “Key Club Moment”. This year the event falls on October 21st, if you are interested in attending please ask an officer for further details and we'll get you onto the list ASAP! It’s truly an amazing opportunity to contribute to a good cause as well as have fun with your Key Club friends!

Two players battle it out for the ball at the annual Grassroots Soccer Tournament
On September 10th, Franklin Key Club hosted our annual Grassroots Soccer Tournament to raise charity fund for the Grassroots Soccer foundation, an organization that works to kick AIDS out of Africa through sex education and group programs that help youths understand the ins and outs of sexual health. We are proud to host this event for the 9th year in a row and to support the effort to kick AIDS out of Africa! This year we had twenty teams compete for a variety of prizes; gift bags and gift cards, which were donations from the members and businesses of the community. The day was a lot of fun, full of good soccer games, barbequing, and people of all groups coming together to get to know each other for a good cause. A big thank you to everyone who attended this year and helped make our annual event such a success, it means a lot to us as a club and we hope that you’ll join us again next year!
“Thank you to everyone who showed up to Franklin Key Club’s Annual Grassroots Soccer tournament. This event was something I had been planning since summer started it probably was one of the most stressful things I had to do. From the many long nights of spamming my officer group chat to help getting everything ready for the bid day and constantly messaging people at 2 am, I am very thankful for my board because without them this event wouldn’t have been possible. On the day we were all scrambling to get everything and in the end, we were able to pull everything off. After the many sleepless nights and there were many times I felt like breaking down, we were able to pull of this amazing event. Although the event didn’t go exactly how I wanted it to, we were still able to raise $300 for the Grassroots organization. Once again thank to everyone who came and supported and believed in us. I couldn’t have done it without everyone” - Cassandra Woo
“At RTC I learned a lot about Key Club and I got to learn about the other divisions. I learned the most from Laguna Creek President’s presentation about time management” - Emily Chau
Our club snapped a shot together at the Region 16 Training Conference; look at all that spirit!
“I had fun at my last RTC. It was amazing to see all of the spirited key clubbers chant and battle to see who was the loudest. I cannot wait to see everyone again at FRN. The workshops were great because my favorite people were presenting” - Cassandra Woo
“RTC was a lot of fun; this was my first real Key Club division event and I thought that it was cool. I got to meet a lot of new people and I learned a new thing or two about what Key Club is about” - Justin Santos
“I thought that [RTC] was very fun and very educational” - Vincent Tran
“ RTC was a lot of fun and I think that it is a good opportunity for new and old Key Club Members” - Ronald Zhou PC: Dale Matias

Within the month of August once school finally hit, Darren Huai has attended many volunteer events accumulated quite a bit of hours. Other than the month of August, he has been attending service events actively. He also enjoys Key Club as he can spend time with his friends and also help out the community at the same time. 1) What was your favorite service event and why? "turkey trot". 2) What are your hobbies? "Don't have any". 3) What do you enjoy most about Key Club? "when they give out candy at meetings". 4) Why is volunteering important to you? "I like volunteering actually because its funs with friends and I like visiting and experiencing the different types of jobs I get at volunteer events".
Do you want a chance at being our next member of the month? Our Member Recognition head Irene Dich chooses member of the month based on hours and member participation, so if you want a shot at it BEE an involved member! Start signing up for events, attending club meetings, trying out a few division events, and you WILL be rewarded! We hope to encourage more Key Clubbers to be involved to see that Key Club is more that just community service, we’re a family proud to be working towards good causes! Thank you to all the members who are already very involved and to the new members who wish to be more involved, we’re cheering for you! If you have any questions on how to get more involved with Key Club, feel free to ask any officer and we’ll give you the help you need!
