The Voorheesville Key Club Newsletter March 2017 March was a busy month for Voorheesville Key Club. During the meeting on the 1st, we held a short Movie Night planning session followed by making “No-Sew Blankets.” Our four completed blankets were donated to Albany Medical Center's NICU/PICU units. Later that evening Vice-President Kaitlin Murphy, Webmaster Dante Gil-Marin, and Mrs. Bintz attended the Division 16 Lieutenant Governor Election at the William K. Sanford Library in Colonie. We extend our congratulations to Samira Ahmed, our newly elected Division 16 2017-18 Lt. Governor. Our next meeting was originally scheduled for the 15th, but due to the blizzard, was postponed to the 16th. This meeting was dedicated to the final planning of the VES “Movies in Your PJ’s Night” which was scheduled to take place the next day! This year we decided to show the movie Moana. Despite the recent storm, school closings and it being St. Patrick’s Day, about 75 people attended. Everyone who attended enjoyed the movie and all the tropical fruit give-aways. A big thanks is extended to the VES custodial staff and everyone who came out to volunteer that evening. As always, please remember to log your hours on Passport For Good. On the 29th we held a board meeting to review upcoming events and activities to help us close out our 2016-17 volunteer school year. In addition it was decided that our club would give the VCSD Board of Education a presentation on our year of service at their next meeting on May 8th.

A new Dave and Buster’s fundraising idea was presented by Mrs. Bintz. We can make Power Cards available and hold a Spirit Night, or both. Plans for the Throwback Gym night were discussed. The date was set for May 31st with a rain date of June 7th from 3-5 at the VES. Plans were also put in place for the continuation of bottle collections for the Thirst Project. A review of expectations with the 12 members attending the upcoming Leadership Training Conference (LTC) were presented and discussed. During LTC, March 31-April 2nd, Voorheesville Key Club received two awards and four recognitions.
