Voorheesville Key Club | September 2016 Newsletter

The Voorheesville Key Club Newsletter September 2016 Key Club got an early start to service this year, with volunteer opportunities beginning before school started. On September 3rd, Key Clubbers staffed the football concessions stand for the first home game of the year. Although many aspects of our concessions have stayed the same, there are a few changes this year. Through our partnership with Coca-Cola we received a brand-new fridge in which to store the Coke beverages we sell. In addition, we sold a few purple-and-gold Key Club bracelets to support the Blackbirds and our club. We also encouraged football fans to recycle in the new recycling bin outside, in keeping with the school’s push to go greener this coming year. Overall, the first game was a success —the football team won and Key Club did well at concessions. On the 14th, we held a meeting in the library for students interested in joining our club. President Emily Rose gave an informative and engaging presentation while officers introduced themselves and were available to answer questions. The turnout was great—we handed out over one hundred membership forms—and our club should continue to grow this year.

For the second home football game of the year, on September 17th, more Key Clubbers signed up to help run the concessions stand. This Saturday spent volunteering found just as much success as the previous one did. After school on September 21st, officers were in the library to collect registration papers and dues. Many Key Clubbers have signed up already and are good to go, but many haven’t, so please remember to turn in your signed blue registration sheet and $15 to Treasurer Annie Scherer as soon as possible. Also, if you have any summer hours, please turn those in as well. On September 22nd, some officers attended a Kiwanis dinner and meeting to congratulate our superintendent, Mr. Hunt, on his induction to the organization. Congratulations to him again! In keeping with a tradition started last year, every month we like to take notice of one certain Key Clubber who went above and beyond in his or her service, called the Member of the Month. This month, that person is Justin Cunningham. Justin worked very hard at football concessions on both the 3rd and the 17th. Thank you and congratulations, Justin! This month, as always, we have many thanks to give. First, we would like to thank our advisor Mrs. Bintz for everything she does for our Key Club. We appreciate you so much! Thank you to everyone who volunteered at football concessions

September 2016 and to those who are signed up to volunteer in the future. Finally, thank you to everyone who joined Key Club this year and to our returning members— we couldn’t do all we do without you! Thanks to everyone’s hard work, we have already been honored as Key Club of the Month in Division 16. We’re looking forward to the promising service year ahead.
