ackyard spaces are front and centre this season, as we are faced with new pandemic restrictions. With the recent price increases in lumber, furniture and all things outdoors, I want to give homeowners some tips on utilizing what they have by adding a few new things to change the look of the outdoor space, while keeping things budget-friendly.
When it came to my clients on this project, they really didn’t like their original space; it was cluttered, there were no defined zones, and it lacked inspiration. Although the deck needed to be replaced, like many others, these clients were not ready to pay double the lumber price, so a fresh coat of paint modernized this dated deck. Paint goes a long way to freshen things
up. The conversation set is more than 15 years old, but the shape and cushion colour were still perfect. With a bit of elbow grease and a can of matte black spray paint, they were able to freshen it up to look sleek and modern. I wanted this outdoor space to work from day to night, so lighting was essential to take afternoon drinks into the twilight hour. I grabbed these Edison LED string lights and Hurricane
