NARCISSISM AND ALCOHOL
Socially, wine is a sign of prestige and wealth, and narcissists drink it in larger quantities than other people to increase their chances of flirting, even when they don't like wine.
Narcissists are people with an excessive and constant need for attention and admiration. They are very concerned with achieving success, power and beauty, those things that are precisely associated with wine. A new study indicates that narcissists drink more wine than other people, even if they don't like the taste of it, just to appear more attractive. In a previous study from 2015, the University of Bristol in the UK found that people who had consumed low doses of alcohol were considered more attractive than sober people. Possibly, the result is due to the red coloration of the cheeks that occurs after drinking alcohol and that gives us a healthier appearance. This appearance, coupled with wine being associated with greater wealth and prestige, indicates that wine drinkers are more likely to succeed on a date. The first part of the newly published study on narcissists and wine involved 654 French adults. All answered questions about their level of wine consumption and their level of narcissism was also measured through a test.
