I did manage to catch some of the action from the World Indoor Championships on television. That is played on full size rinks unlike our own 12.5 metre rink. It is amazing to see the skill they have, to put a bowl within a couple of inches of the jack from around 30 metres away and judge the swing of several metres due to the bias on the bowl. Although we are closer in our short match game, we have to bowl round a block of wood half way down the track. The technical term for the block is the block, which shows what incredible imaginations bowlers have. Mind you, it is frequently given much more colourful names as the slightest touch voids the shot.
Chief Scout’s Commendation for Good Service - Awarded in respect of not less than five years good service, which stands out. It should be regarded as the Chief Scout's recognition of the very real contribution made to the Scouts by the individual concerned. Fingers crossed that time and the vaccine will slowly get on top of the virus and we will be able to enjoy the game and the company of our friends that we love. Meanwhile keep safe and look to the future. Don Knight

Despite grumbling about having nothing to do in lockdown time seems to fly by. No sooner do I send in one report than it is time for the next. Sadly our indoor season didn't happen this year, like so many other things, but the committee have been contacting other clubs to sound out if there is a possibility of some sort of outdoor activity in April when the outdoor season starts, Virus permitting!!

Planning for the season continues in the hope that it will be able to start on time, but is obviously dependent on Government announcements. There will be the usual full range of activities including junior and senior cricket and the Village Cup. Additionally, the club has signed up to the ECB Dynamos programme and is using it for a girls only section in the 8 to 11 years old age group, with sessions planned for Sunday mornings. The ECB launch through which one registers has been delayed for the Government’s Covid update in March.
We have an amazing leader team at 1st Wendover and as Scouts we want to thank them all as volunteers for their contribution. One of the ways we thank them is by recognising their achievements and Good Service Awards are one way of doing this. This year the group have had a number of Leaders awarded for outstanding HS2 continues to frustrate and no meaningful start has yet been possible on planning for the new service given to the group. ground. February’s top winner of the 200 Club Bar to the Award for Merit - Given after at least was Jonathan Seabrook.
