More About Cottonwood Auto Glass: My name is Corey Larricq, I started in the automotive glass trade in 2007 as an apprentice for a corporate owned glass shop. For the next several years, I worked as a technician exploring all facets of the industry and its related fields, slowly expanding my knowledge of the business and working my way up to Shop Manager. I was quickly able to become a valued team member by spreading my role into the office, while learning the full cycle of how an automotive glass shop operates. I also spent a short period of time working for the USA division of the company, as a mobile technician.

At Cottonwood Auto Glass, we are an ICBC Glass Express facility and can process all types of insurance claims in our shop. Call us or stop by to see how easy it is to replace that cracked windshield! Only have a rock chip that needs to be fixed? Ask me how it can be done for free, or for as little as $20.00!

After 10 years in the automotive glass trade, and receiving my certification as an automotive glass technician, I decided it was time to open my own shop, to serve the wonderful community of Chilliwack, that my family and I call home. Cottonwood Auto Glass was established in 2016 and is here to service all your automotive glass needs, for any make and model of vehicle on the market!

Building Bridges By Adam Louis

Among Chilliwack’s ever-developing cityscape stands a constant beacon of hope for hundreds of lives in the Fraser Valley and beyond. In the beating heart of the downtown core is A Bridge to Better Living Society, fast approaching its second year as a business. Just two years ago, two local retirees - Shirley Cahoon and Bryan Crogie - brought their deeply personal missions together in one wildly successful fundraising effort. Shirley had a heart for those struggling to live with juvenile diabetes after her great grandson was diagnosed with the debilitating condition when he was three years old. Bryan sought to help the less fortunate and bring those who were downtrodden due to their circumstances, passionate to bring them a new, better quality of life. In June 2016, both Shirley and Bryan were participating in an annual yard sale in Clinton, BC, hosted by the Miller family. In a mere 5 hours of operation, the Miller family and their fellow participants raised more than $3,000 for juvenile diabetes research. After such incredible success in such a short period of time, inspiration struck - if they FRXOG DFFRPSOLVK WKLV LQ À YH KRXUV RI RQH GD\ ZKDW FRXOG they do with a yard sale like this every day? Spurred on by their success and driven by their passion to improve the lives of those around them, Shirley and Bryan VHW WR ZRUN FROOHFWLQJ VWRFN À QGLQJ D VLWH IRU WKH VWRUH gathering board members and locating a site that would one day become A Bridge to Better Living Society. On November 21, 2016, the society opened its doors to the public and have been hosting their version of the yard sale for great causes ever since. The community has wholeheartedly embraced A Bridge to Better Living and everything they stand for. The society is dedicated to multiple charitable causes across Chilliwack and beyond, including a women’s recovery centre, aid for camps for children living with Type 1 diabetes and the local prison ministry as well as coordinating volunteer efforts and opportunities with various groups and schools all over the Fraser Valley.

In the short time since it’s been open, A Bridge to Better /LYLQJ Ă€ QGV LWVHOI GHHSO\ HQWUHQFKHG LQ &KLOOLZDFN¡V PRVW charitable organizations, and Shirley and Bryan couldn’t be more proud. “We’ve impacted a lot of lives in a very short period of time,â€? Bryan said. As for the store itself, it is clean, wheelchair accessible and full of useful items and clothes not often seen in a lot of thrift stores, particularly a healthy supply of menswear and clothing for young children. A Bridge to Better LIving also houses a high-quality hardware/DIY department, further elevating everything a thrift store can be. As much as Bryan, Shirley and a dedicated team of employees and volunteers have accomplished so far, they’re always looking for more volunteers. A Bridge to Better Living is particularly looking for volunteers with NQRZOHGJH RI Ă€ QH FKLQD DQG FU\VWDO VNLOOHG LQ HOHFWURQLFV part-time truck drivers, furniture movers and cleaners. In terms of item donations, there isn’t much A Bridge to Better Living will refuse. As long as the item still has some use, it has a place in the store. Bryan said. “We want to leave a model other seniors and retirees can follow if they are so inclined. We would like to walk away knowing full well we actually accomplished a good thing in giving back to the community.â€? A Bridge to Better Living Society is open from 9 to 5, Monday through Saturday and is located at 45873 Wellington Avenue in Chilliwack. Yarrow Pioneer Park Downtown Yarrow

May 11th to Sept 14th 5pm to Dusk Yarrow Farm Market is a seasonal market founded in 2016 in Yarrow, a small community near the foothills of Vedder Mountain. When my family and I moved to Yarrow from Vancouver Island in the summer of 2015, I was surprised to learn there was no market. As an event coordinator who had established a thriving market 2 years prior in Parksville, BC, I knew the benefits. Farm markets create financial support for small farmers and artists and connect them with their community. Yarrow prides itself on community living, small agricultural farms, and neighborly support, which made embracing a farm market quite natural. In the center of downtown, Yarrow Pioneer Park is the perfect venue, and with over 35 vendors, fabulous live music, and food trucks, the market welcomes visitors from all over the Lower Mainland (we love visitors in Yarrow.) The support over the past two years has been overwhelming, and I look forward to many more fun-filled days ahead at the Yarrow Farm Market.

Behind the Scenes Tours Every Friday Afternoon at the Chilliwack Archives By Tristan Evans, Archivist, Chilliwack Museum and Archives Starting this year we have been having free behind-the-scenes tours of the Chilliwack Archives. The free tours are open to everyone and take place on the last Friday of the month. Each tour runs between 45 minutes to an hour. Are you curious what we are hiding behind those secret archive doors? Ever wondered where I disappear to when you request to view a fonds or photograph? Are you a long-time history nerd with serious questions and you want to know more about our local collections? Come to the tour. Are you brand new to the history field and just looking to see what all the hype is about at the Archives? Come to the tour. The tour is open to everyone, no previous research experience required. Price: FREE!!! Where: Evergreen Hall, Chilliwack Archives, 9291 Corbould Street, Chilliwack, BC V2P 4A6 When: Last Friday of every month at 3:00 PM RSVP: Not required! All you need to do is stop by the Archives at 3:00 PM I know that I’m not alone when I say I love visiting archives. Sure museums are fun, but how often do you get to see behind the scenes? You will be rewarded with the opportunity to explore how we catalogue and preserve archival records and cultural objects. At most institutions you are lucky to peak behind an archive door and glimpse a view at the secrets of the archival world. These glimpses into the mysterious world of an archivist are usually reserved for special occasions such as “archives week” or “culture week.” Not here at the Chilliwack Museum and Archives. We are very fortunate here in Chilliwack to have a large and diverse collection of archival records, artifacts, and cultural objects for a community of our size. My job is to preserve these archival

Generally speaking, the public is forbidden to go behind-the-scenes of an archive. These tours tear down those restrictions. They make the Archivist’s job less of a mystery to you, the public, and they are a perfect opportunity for you to ask questions you may have about our collections or general Chilliwack community history. I really hope to see you on the last Friday of the month. For more information, contact Tristan@ chilliwackmuseum.ca

Angela said it was her husband that ultimately spurred her on to ride the Tour de Valley, saying it would help her challenge herself. “The ride last year was demanding - Over 800 kilometers in a 9-day period, that included a lot of stops along the way,â€? We are all singing the tour theme songs and the kids seemed to love it.â€? Angela added she loves the bonds of friendship forged along the way. “There are good friendships that are formed throughout training and while on the tour,â€? she said. “It’s great getting to know other riders and their stories.â€?

For every $1,500 she raised, one child gets to go to camp. She said it was such a great feeling every time she surpassed that mark. August 2018 will mark the 108th Abbotsford AGRIFAIR. A lot has changed in the past 108 years! Family dynamics have changed – no longer is the nuclear family considered the “norm”. Now there are blended families, working parents, co-parenting, an entire generation who values volunteerism and community participation. This is the family of today, and Agrifair is an integral part of enriching family life in our diverse and inclusive community. Community neighbors are coming closer together, feeling the need to be a part of something bigger, something important. Agrifair takes the role of community leader very seriously and celebrates our past and embraces the future through fun, family events and education. People are bombarded with so much negativity in the world – day to day and minute to minute, Agrifair’s board of directors and staff felt that after celebrating Canada’s 150th last year – we still have reason to celebrate!

multitude of 4-H exhibitors and competitors, LEGO and Shooting Star Midway. NOT enough? How about evening concerts? Friday is a showcase of Multi-Culturalism, Saturday headliner JoJo Mason, Sunday a Praise in the Park time closing with Citizen Way. Still not satisfied; how about all our strolling entertainment?
