August 2018 will mark the 108th Abbotsford AGRIFAIR. A lot has changed in the past 108 years! Family dynamics have changed – no longer is the nuclear family considered the “norm”. Now there are blended families, working parents, co-parenting, an entire generation who values volunteerism and community participation. This is the family of today, and Agrifair is an integral part of enriching family life in our diverse and inclusive community. Community neighbors are coming closer together, feeling the need to be a part of something bigger, something important. Agrifair takes the role of community leader very seriously and celebrates our past and embraces the future through fun, family events and education. People are bombarded with so much negativity in the world – day to day and minute to minute, Agrifair’s board of directors and staff felt that after celebrating Canada’s 150th last year – we still have reason to celebrate! We invite you to celebrate Family and Community with us August 3-5. Come and see the RCMP Musical Ride perform daily with Salutes to various first responders, the new Dock Dog show where YOU can enter your family pup in a water competition, watch the new Dally & Spanky show where best friends (a Jack Russell terrier rides a Shetland Pony) perform as part of the Horse show, try your hand a being a “lumberjack” while watching the Laughing Logger show and on Saturday only the Logger Sport Competition. We haven’t forgotten about the family returning favorites featuring the Racing Pig & Duck show, Motorsports Arena action with demolition derby and the thrilling FMX bike guys, Pro Wrestling, Antique Farm Machinery demos, the

multitude of 4-H exhibitors and competitors, LEGO and Shooting Star Midway. NOT enough? How about evening concerts? Friday is a showcase of Multi-Culturalism, Saturday headliner JoJo Mason, Sunday a Praise in the Park time closing with Citizen Way. Still not satisfied; how about all our strolling entertainment? There is just too much to write about. Check our website for details and keep watching because we keep adding to the CELEBRATION for FAMILIES and our COMMUNITY!

Just ask Andre ... Thanks to Pinterest, photos are a great way to communicate ideas with your hairstylist. Bring in one photo and your stylist may become focused on giving you the exact look, bring in more and the stylist starts to focus on your hair and the common elements you like in all the photos. It also helps to identify what you like in descriptive terms. Are you a romantic, sophisticate or rebel with your looks? Dont know? Just ask your stylist.A hairstylist can be very effective of knowing how a hairstyle or length can visually frame a face while working or negoiating someones natural texture. Personal identity and lifestyle suitability are more elusive for stylists and it helps if you share those ideas. We are interested in you. You want something new but you’re afraid of not being able to style it. Just ask how.

Fall and Winter... Darker more Jewelled and Fruity tones will add depth and excitement to balayaged lengths and give those beached/bleached out ends a healthier look. Its always a good time to do an Olaplex treatment to restore damage. Crank up the moisture treatments, hot oil treatments, leave-ins and end menders to protect hair from indoor heat and irons.

Perms are back in style! Ok, not really, unless you can easily style your curls to look like an 80’s perm, then its hot. Celebrate it! Longer pixies, and shorter bobs are a nice way to update or change your look. Autumn is always a great time for change.

Fall Winter Must-Haves for hair: Unite Boosta Thickening cream, curl creams with salt sprays, volume spray Facebook - And K Hairstylist re and hairspray, leave-ins and end-menders to protect hair from indoor heating and increased use of irons.

TOURISM INDUSTRY Google My Business As the Mission tourism business plan takes shape, we are pleased to announce an immediate win for the local tourism stakeholders as we implement the Google Destination Marketing Organization Partnership Program. This will allow any business that has a direct or supporting connection to the tourism industry to immediately claim their business via Google, maximizing their search potential with visitors. $V D 7UXVWHG 9HUL¿ HU DQG ZLWK RXU hands on the latest technology, Tourism Mission will also provide a 360° image inside the business to ensure maximum Google search optics and to give potential customers a sneak peek of the interior of our local businesses. Much of the data currently available via Google maps and local search is supplemented through the Google My %XVLQHVV SUR¿ O H SURYLGLQJ additional information such as opening hours, phone number, photographs and website details. In order to keep this information relevant and up-to-date a business must claim their listing by verifying ownership. This process takes on average 6-8 weeks for written QRWL¿ FDWLRQ WKURXJK WKH P DLO ZLWK 7RXULVP 0 LVVLRQ \RX DUH YHUL¿ HG on the spot!

So who can use this service? Pretty much the majority of businesses and events organizations in town, as many either directly or indirectly serve the tourism industry. So whether it is a direct tourism attraction such as Mission Raceway Park, an event organizer such as the Mission Folk Music Festival, or a unique store or restaurant, all are eligible. “This will help to build our FRP P XQLW\ SURÂż O H DQG LQFUHDVH the visibility of those businesses who do not currently have a strong online presenceâ€? advised Clare Seeley, Manager of Tourism, “It also ensures visitors and locals have access to accurate business data and forms part of the long term strategy of ensuring visitor service information can be accessed through a range of multi-media platformsâ€?.

DID YOU KNOW? • There are more than 1 billion monthly active users of Google Maps • On average 41% of searches result in an on-site visit • Listings with photos or 360° imagery are twice as likely to generate interest.
