get their hands messy and exploring how fun glue water and newspaper could transform into such amazing masterpieces. The kids were so proud of their art when they were all complete. We had a celebratory dance party! Marnie has taught numerous classes and has seen so many young artists grow over the years and progress with their art. She’s shared so many laughs and lessons with the Artist Focus Classes. Learning and creating about famous artists and teaching kids the fun facts about them.

A Heartfelt Farewell from Lisa and Marnie as they close up the 4 Cats Art Studio on March 31, 2019 We asked them some questions as they bid a heart warming thank you to their community, customers, family and friends for years of happy memories and support.

What was your favorite part about being in this community? We’ve loved being part of the downtown community. There’s a certain small town energy that brought us here. We wanted to contribute to the arts and providing local children and families with a wonderful art experience here in Port Coquitlam . We made it a priority to promote our community and our business with pride and joy.

What will be the hardest thing to say goodbye to? Goodbyes are always tough. We’ve devoted many years of building our business but the customer friendships and relationships that have developed from within our creative space, is what we will miss the most. We extend a heartfelt thank you to everyone that has supported

our studio. Closing will be a very emotional time for us. We will truly miss our business neighbors and the wonderful residents of the Villagio building.

What was the best memory you’ve had since being open? We take with us so many great memories!! From the day the building sign was put up, to creating hundreds of art demos, to the ribbon cutting opening day party, to the long days and evenings of classes and workshops of all mediums, to being painty all the time and not caring how many paint splatters we had on our face at the end of the day. We were fortunate to be able work together as business owners and cousins. The success we have achieved as franchisees and navigating our way through the ups and downs of small business.

What class brought the most joy to teach? Lisa taught a mixed media class for ages 6-10 in the fall of 2015. One of the projects we created was paper mache masks. They had such fun

What was the proudest part of running 4Cats Art Studio? The proudest part of owning and operating 4Cats Arts Studio has been the experiences we brought to so many. We hosted over 6000 parties at the studio and we’re Honoured to be a part of our customers special occasions and memories made.

:KDW LQÁ XHQFH GR \RX KRSH WR leave behind? We hope we have left a lasting LQÁ XHQFH RQ WKH DUWLVWV WKDW KDYH created with us. Encouraging the love of art and expression.

Any Extra words? Thanks to our amazing helpful husbands and children who have been by our side and allowed us to go on this creative journey for the past 8 years.

Please check the What’s On Port Coquitlam Magazine’s website or phone app for special closing events.

Aster Wellness Centre

Aster Wellness Centre focuses on both mental and physical health. Currently we offer Clinical Counselling, ng, Massage & Craniosacral Therapy, Naturopathic Medicine, Nutrition Counselling, and Bowen Therapy. We believe in the holistic approach and are motivated to provide the best care for our clients. Ideal clients: Ideally, we would all like to create personal goals that lead to a more fulfilling and stress-free life. Sometimes, it is hard to commit or to achieve these goals on our own. Anyone who is looking for guidance and support will benefit from our services. Goals can include: working on skills to cope with stress, making healthy life choices, physical rehabilitation, etc. Most popular product or service: All of our services are equally important. However, one thing that is very popular about our business, is how easy our online booking and payment system is. We know that for some clients it is difficult to take the step to make an appointment. Through our online booking system, this eliminates the stress and gives the client more control over their bookings. How did you get into this business? James and I are both Registered Clinical Counsellors and our dream was to work together and begin a wellness center. When we found our office space, we decided to jump in the unknown and quit our other jobs. Best decision we ever made! Our proudest moment: Aster has been in business for almost 2 years. We are so incredibly proud how far we have come since the start. Other business owners might remember the countless long days as well (even building Ikea furniture after business hours into the night!). Starting a business is stressful but jumping through obstacles together made our business (and relationship) even stronger & more rewarding. Our teamwork is our point of pride! INTRODUCING

FLOH A youth-led organization who aspires to make a change... One thing we lack in the City of Port Coquitlam is the conversations regarding the foster system, life promotion, opioid dialogue, harm reduction, and homelessness. Imagine having a roomful of adolescents who are interested in creating dialogues regarding WKHVH GLIÀFXOW WRSLFV How much of an impact would that make?

We are Tri-Cities FLOH. A youthled organization created by youth within your community who aspires to make a change. FLOH is an acronym referring to foster system, life promotion, opioid dialogue, harm reduction, and homelessness. Our job is to create dialogued discussions regarding, what these topics are, and how we can make logistical changes within our community to better and strengthen our mental health and the environment. Our mission is to make a safe, welcoming and accepting community for not only youth, but for anyone who suffers from problems regarding the foster system, life promotion, opioid dialogue, harm reduction, and homelessness.

What’s On! • www.whatsonportcoquitlam.ca

Jeffrey We also bring in indigenous teachings of respect for youth in hopes of encouraging youth to be respectful to the youth of all identities. As a society, we are currently developing social recreational activities that promote a mentally healthier lifestyle to all youth such as, Coco's and craft, Mental health leisure time, and many more. Tri-Cities FLOH is also constantly looking out for volunteers, who have a passion to jumpstart their community service career. Organizational Spreads

l a n r u o J Bullet No matter what you’re doing, life can get crazy sometimes. The “To Do” list grows longer, tasks pop out of seemingly nowhere and before you know it, deadlines and events are upon you, and you completely forgot. Combat the stress of getting off track by keeping things organized in your bullet journal. There are three VSUHDGV WKDW , À QG WKH PRVW XVHIXO

1. The Task List: Create a page in your journal that is solely for “To Do” items. Have you ever Á LSSHG WR \RXU ZHHNO\ VSUHDG DQG realized you have something due in a few days that you haven’t even started? Noting things week to week is great to do as well, but keeping everything you have to do in one neat place avoids deadlines creeping up on you. You can either make “To Do” list pages and create new spreads

regularly, or you can make a reusable one using this hack. Take one page from your bullet journal and decorate it however you’d like. Next, either put it in a page protector or cover it over (carefully) with clear packing tape. Now all you need is a dry erase marker and you can easily update and revise as needed.

2. The Master Spread: If you’re new to bullet journaling, or you are someone who struggles to keep organized, having too many spreads to check can be overwhelming. Maybe you have an appointment next month, or a birthday that you didn’t import to your weekly spread. By making one big year at a glance spread with everything on it, you have one clearly laid out place to check what is upcoming. Document birthdays, appointments, deadlines, and

events however is easiest for you. My approach uses colour coded categories, but feel free to do what works for you.

3. Important Information: Now that you have a handle on things from a schedule perspective, what about keeping miscellaneous things organized? Create a miscellaneous page where you can stick any important information by pasting envelopes, a few sticky notes, or folders on a page. Next time someone gives you their card or an address, put it here for safe keeping.
