Know Your Insurance When was the last time you opened up your vehicles insurance papers and checked your windshield coverage? My guess is, not too recently. Just like everything we do in life, we tend to hit the cruise control button and don’t pay attention to the small details that can make a difference when the time comes. We all pay for insurance, so let’s get to know what we are paying for, so when the time arises and we need to use these coverages, we know how it all works, and more importantly, what it costs. Do you know what your comprehensive and collision deductibles are with your insurance provider? Did you even purchase either coverage?
windshield chip repair? And with no penalty or adverse affect to your policy or coverages. Or, maybe you’ve been dreading replacing your broken windshield with the fear that you’re looking at a cost of several hundred or thousands of dollars? This is where having insurance can save the day. So, instead of worrying that your repair or replacement is going to cost too much money and you can’t afford it, check your insurance papers, give us a call, or stop on by. Most likely it’s much cheaper than you thought. We’d love to help!
All to often we are asked by customers, “How do I know if I’m covered for my new windshield?” “How much will this cost me?”. Insurance paperwork can be confusing and hard to understand. Many times, I’ve asked, “Do you carry comprehensive coverage with your insurance provider?” And in many cases, people just don’t know. And that’s no problem, we are here to help you! When we are assisting you in the glass replacement or repair for your vehicle, it’s also our job to help you understand how your insurance works. In most cases we do this so that we can provide the most cost-effective advice. Did you know that your insurance provider will pay for your

Childhood obesity puts kids at risk for health problems that were once seen only in adults, like type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure, and heart disease. https://www.heartandstroke.ca/-/media/pdffiles/ canada/2017-heart-month/heartandstrokereportonhealth2017.ashx
The good news is that childhood obesity can be prevented. • Get active outside: Walk around the neighborhood, go on a bike ride, or play basketball at the park. • Limit screen time: Keep screen time (time spent on the computer, watching TV, or playing video games) to 2 hours or less a day. • Make healthy meals: Buy and serve more vegetables, fruits, and whole-grain foods.
Taking small steps as a family can help your child stay at a healthy weight. Chilliwack Chito Ryu – www.chilliwackchitoryu.com 45655 Tamihi Way, Unit 202, Garrison Village, Chilliwack BC. Starting January 2018! • To help kids get fit, stay fit and be cool. KICKNFIT KIDS is a starter kit to a new lifestyle. It is a way for kids around the world to learn that "working out" can be better than "couching out". A perfect fusion of the Martial arts lifestyle brought together with a "we can do this" positive uplifting vibe. Where Bully busting always beats Belly Busting.

Do you ever see old items and get the overwhelming urge to handle them? Well have no fear, the discovery bins are here for you! Located in the back section of our permanent exhibit is an interactive discovery bin station. The discovery bins provide a more hands on and interactive experience for visitors of all ages, though they tend to appeal largely to children. For children, these bins help them learn about and test out tools (or rather artifacts) people once used in their home, work or everyday life. For other visitors, the artifacts in the bins can be a trip down memory lane, as they see familiar items that may have been found in their childhood home’s kitchen or toy bin. We currently have six themed discovery bins available for exploration. The themes are farming, home, toy, travel, education and local First Nations history. In each bin various artifacts are provided along with interactive games, worksheets, and information on the artifacts. The worksheets can be helpful in starting the conversation about what something is and how it may have be used. A Discovery Hunt booklet takes visitors through each bin as a type of scavenger hunt. Some of our most popular artifacts are an eggbeater, a rotary phone and a butter press. With the way technology has evolved, for some visitors these older forms of modern items can really puzzle some of our younger visitors. Foundation, Girl Guides – Chwk. Chapter, Chilliwack Community Services – Family Programs, the ALS Society of BC, Chilliwack Fire Dept., and the RCMP DARE program, just to name a few. Two of our next major events will commemorate both the end of the Great War in 1918 and the sacrifices of all Canadians in all wars. We will host our annual Veterans and Seniors Dinner on October 28, 2018. Sunday November 11, 2018, marks the 100th Anniversary of the End of World War I. Please join us for a Special Memorial Service which begins at 10:30am at the Cenotaph on the corner of Vedder Road and Keith Wilson Road.
In April of 1917 over 15,000 Canadian soldiers attacked and captured Vimy Ridge, achieving what British and French armies had been unable to do for over three years. This was one of the defining battles that led the allies to Victory on November 11th, 1918 and is considered by many to be the birth of our nation as we know it.
Throughout 2018, members of the Royal Canadian Legion will, as in all years, remember the sacrifices of all Canadians in this “war to end all wars”. Members of the Royal Canadian Legion include veterans, families of veterans, and members of the public with no military connection. All have a common goal to support veterans and help our communities. Each year the Royal Canadian Legion donates many thousands of dollars for other Chilliwack charity groups and your programs such as cadets and school bursaries. Some of our recent community support includes donations to the following local organizations: The Alzheimer’s Society of BC - Chilliwack Chapter, Airplane Creek Memorial project, BC SPCA donation and fundraiser, Fraser Valley Health Care, Chilliwack Hospice, Canadian Council of the Blind, Harrison Highlanders, G.W. Graham High School, Chilliwack Lions Club, Chilliwack Junior A Hockey Team, BC Children’s Hospital, BC Cancer

Pear Tart Tatin

Serves: 6 Preparation time: 1 hour 20 minutes
facebook.com/exit123rockband2
Ingredients FXS J R] H[WUD À QH VXJDU 1/8 cup / 40g / 1 1/3 oz cold butter, chopped 1/2 tsp ground ginger 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon 3 large pears, peeled, cored and cut into wedges 375g / 13 1/4 oz all-butter puff pastry Double cream, to serve
Method Preheat oven to 400F / 200C / gas 6. Put a 8 inch / 21cm diameter frying pan with an ovenproof handle (this bit is important!) on a burner over a medium heat. Add the sugar to the dry pan and heat, stirring constantly until it turns a lovely caramel coloury. Add the butter, ginger and cinnamon and stir well to combine. Place the pears in the caramel and spoon over the mixture. Turn the heat down and cook for 5–10 minutes until the pears are just tender and cooked but retain their shape. Remove from the heat and cool slightly. Arrange the pears to form an attractive pattern in the pan. Roll out the pastry to about 1/4 inch / 5mm thick and cut a disc slightly bigger than your pan (about 10 inch / 24cm). Place the pastry disc on top of the pears and caramel, then carefully tuck it snugly around the outside of the pears and down into the sides of the pan. Bake the pie in the oven for 30–40 minutes, or until the pastry is golden brown and puffed up. Remove from the oven and leave for 10 minutes. Run a knife around the edge, place a large plate over the top and carefully turn the tart onto the plate. Serve with cream.
