IN THE GALLERY - FEB 7-FEB 25 HERITAGE WEEK ART SHOW AND EXHIBIT Creative Energy: Air, Earth, Fire and Water Without energy, we couldn’t work, build, grow ~ or create. The natural world initially provides sources of energy, harnessed and enhanced by creative ideas. From early hearths and campfires to industrial generation of hydro-electric power plants, and burning of fossil fuels, mankind has relied on vastly different sources of energy. The story of creative energy is about self-expression, conserving and ensuring a sustainability. It is also about community ~ generating energy by forming relationships, acting together and building a common vision. Experience energy from the four elements: air, water, fire and earth, portrayed through an eclectic mix of traditional illustration, photography, multi-media creations and performance art. The exhibit will include working models that demonstrate creative ways to generate energy. The official opening will include readings of haiku poetry, and throughout the show, artists from a variety of genres will be on hand to generate dialogue around energy and power. Join us for the Artist Meet and Greet on Saturday February 11, from 1-4PM at the Gallery of the Mission Arts Centre.

January 30th at 7pm LE HAVRE: Master director Aki Kaurismäki’s most joyful ďŹ lm in years is a charming modern fairy tale, where everyone does the right thing, deadpan humour is the norm and legendary French rock star Little Bob is available for impromptu gigs. February 13th at 7pm SENNA: A riveting look at Brazilian Formula One legend Ayrton Senna, one of boldest and most exciting race car champions of all time. Thrilling and deeply affecting, this is a must-see ďŹ lm for both racing fans and non-fans alike. February 27th at 7pm MONSIEUR LAZHAR: One of the most gripping quĂŠbĂŠcois ďŹ lms of the last decade.
