2018

Georgia Nicols

Aries (March 21-April 19)

Cancer (June 21-July 22)

The year 2018 looks so bright, you’re gonna need shades! Expect accolades, a promotion, kudos, scholarships and a chance to realize cherished dreams! It’s your turn to take a bow and acknowledge that you worked hard for what you are about to receive. You will easily get money from other sources this year. It’s the perfect year to go for a mortgage or a loan. Many will receive an inheritance. You will also benefit from the increased wealth of your partner. Break out the bubbly!

This is a definitive year for your sign! For the first time since 2003, you’re going to take your power! This is because you will finally get credit for your work and start to take your goals seriously. However, this attention to you might change the balance in existing relationships. Plus Saturn will be opposite your sign for the first time since 1989-90. Your partner might be threatened by the “new you.” On top of this, for the first time in over a decade, Jupiter will attract romance, vacations and love affairs plus pleasure and a busy social life! Oh my! So much going on!

Taurus (April 20-May 20) It’s important to know you have a career peak in 2021. The degree to which you’re ready to prepare for this time ahead will determine how successful you will then. Start to get performance ready! Get further schooling or training that will benefit your work or help you in your job. Travel will polish you with worldly smarts. Meanwhile, your best good fortune this year is with all your relationships -- business partners, spouses, close friends, even the general public. This year lucky Jupiter will travel through your House of Partnerships making this the best best year to get married in over a decade!

Gemini (May 21-June 20) You are the most articulate, clever, quick-witted sign in the zodiac. (This must be true; I read it in my book.) In 2016-17, you made improvements to real-estate, family and home. In 2018, your great opportunity will be to get a better job or improve your job. This wonderful blessing will not return again until 2030. Aim to get a promotion where you work! Negotiate for what you want. Find a job description that suits you better or demand better working conditions. Or you can leave after, of course, you find that better job that is waiting for you. This same planetary blessing will boost your health this year as well!

16

Leo (July 23-Aug. 22) Lucky, moneybags Jupiter will attract good fortune to your home, family and private life. Relations with family members will be warmer and more mutually generous. This is a fantastic year for real-estate speculation or a chance to buy, sell or rent something bigger and better. You can improve your home through renovations or exciting purchases! This theme of expansion is so strong – your family might expand through marriage, birth or adoption. Some of you will improve your home by buying beautiful things that make you feel richer. Whatever the case, this is a fantastic year for home, family and real estate for Leos – the best in over a decade!

Virgo (Aug. 23-Sept. 22) This year, you are more hopeful about your future. You will be less inclined to sell yourself short; and more inclined to think “I can do that!” This confidence and optimism will be enhanced by an ability to be more articulate in your communications. Your relationships will improve because you will be more positive, upbeat, optimistic, generous plus more intelligent and aware! You will want to educate yourself. Many of you will travel more. This means you are the reason for your success this year. You are the magic! These qualities will be stronger than they’ve been in over a decade. You’re Power Point on steroids!

Libra (Sept. 23-Oct. 22)

Aquarius (Jan. 20-Feb. 18)

Oh my! This year is fun-loving, romantic and daring! And you can boost your earnings! Expect to get a raise, make money on the side or get a better paying job. You might make more money with work-related travel or dealing with foreign countries or perhaps in the entertainment world or sports. Meanwhile, romance is hot and promising! Someone will just blow into your life! You might meet this person on a vacation, or through the entertainment world, the hospitality industry or through children. Existing relationships will also get a new zest for life! Be open to whatever comes to you. Welcome new relationships!

This is one of the few years in your adult life when lucky Jupiter is at the top of your chart. The last time this happened was in 2006; and the next time will be in 2029-30. This blessing comes along only once every 12 years, so make the most of it! Jupiter will give you opportunities to move ahead in your profession. People will admire you! It’s a time of kudos, acknowledgements and promotions! While fortune smiles on you, heed your urge to downsize by going through closets and cupboards to get rid of what you don’t need. Just do it. Time to lighten your load!

Scorpio (Oct. 23-Nov. 21) Marvelous news! Lucky Jupiter is in your sign to stay until Nov. 2018. This is a huge blessing and will not return until 2029-30. (It occurs only four or five times in your adult life.) You will be more content. Your life will flow more easily. You will increase your sphere of influence and power. Opportunities in medicine, the law, higher education, publishing and the media will materialize. Meanwhile, in the next two to three years, expect a job change or residential move or both. Start planning for this so that you are not caught off guard. This year you are blessed!

Sagittarius (Nov. 22-Dec. 21) This year you will shape things and guide your efforts to prepare for what is to come. Organize your finances. Jupiter, the planet of wisdom and religion, will travel through your 12th house, which embraces hidden values and spirituality. This means that in the coming year, you will learn a great deal about your inner self. Around 2008, you were on top of your game and had a chance to make a name for yourself plus boost your earnings. Take note that by the end of this year, great opportunities will return again to your sign because your ruler Jupiter will enter Sagittarius in November. Get ready!

Pisces (Feb. 19-March 20) This year you’re in a position to call the shots. You will see what is not working – but you are also in a position to maximize the opportunities available to you. Do not take this for granted. Even though you have lots of responsibilities now, you have opportunities! You should know that more than other sign, when you believe in your dreams – you can manifest them. It’s almost magical. This year, you have the best chance in over a decade to travel and explore opportunities in education, medicine, the law, publishing and the media. In 2019, your reputation will shine! For the next few years, you have the power to change your life and become more successful.

www.georgianicols.com

Capricorn (Dec. 22-Jan. 19) This is an important year because your ruler Saturn now enters your sign for the first time in 30 years. The last time Saturn was in Capricorn was from Feb. 1988 to Feb. 1991. (And before that 1959-1960) This is significant because these dates mark the times when you left much behind and moved forward to something new. And this is what is happening once again. You will begin a new journey to re-invent yourself. Your popularity will increase this year – definitely. But more than that, your interactions with others will benefit you. Therefore, be friendly! Be helpful. What you give, you will get back multiplied!

You cannot pour from an empty cup... LIFE LESSON:

Put your own oxygen mask on before assisting others

I usually hear people talking about two things in the office at the start of the year – 1) the resolutions they have and 2) how they want to get rid of stuff and be more organised this year. While I don’t believe in resolutions, I do believe it is important to know what you want and have goals to work towards getting there. As a chiropractor my job is to support people in their health through the musclo-skeletal- nervous system. Now you might ask what do any of these things have to do with each other? . Well the biggest contributing factor to us being unhealthy is stress…chemical, physical, emotional stress. While I don’t believe it is possible to eliminate all our stressors (my life would be boring without chocolate), I do think it’s possible to lessen our stress and the effect it has on our bodies. As a busy Mom and business owner I often find myself saying…once everyone else is ok, then I’ll do something for myself. But you see the trouble with that is by the time I’m finished taking care of them, there is no time left for me. There is a reason that on the airplane they tell us to put our own masks on first before assisting someone else. Because if I am passed out, how can I possibly help anyone else? The same is true for our health. If I am not functioning, how can I possibly take care of anyone else?

Here are a few tips 1. Support your immune system - get adjusted, use supplements (consult with a Naturopath to find out what your body actually needs), and get 8 hrs of sleep 2. Support digestion – do a cleanse, eat fiber, sit to eat (mindful eating), limit sugar (this also supports our immune system) 3. Sleep – limit phones/electronics before bed. Getting a 8 hours of sleep a night supports our immune system and many other vital functions, this is our bodies healing time 4. Take a breath – meditate, take a bath…do something just for yourself that allows you time to breathe, even if its only for 5 mins And if all that is too much, just start somewhere pick just 1 thing you are going to do for you, just for yourself, today. Make it a priority to do something for yourself, and don’t allow yourself to feel guilty about it. Remember, your oxygen mask needs to go on first.

Overnight Oats

TM

Recipe Page

Have you made healthier eating a part of your New Year plan? If so you should definitely try this healthy, hearty breakfast. First, it’s the easiest breakfast ever. There’s nothing to cook; you make it the night before in under 5 minutes, and when you wake up, it’s there waiting. All you have to do is eat it! I tend to eat mine cold but if you like things hot, heat them up in the microwave. Oats help to reduce cholesterol and are a whole, unprocessed source of carbohydrates, which release energy slowly so are a great start to the day.

Ingredients 1/2 cup dry oats (not an actual measure cup, a cup off the shelf, the actual cup size doesn’t really matter. It’s about proportions…just use a bigger cup if you have a bigger appetite) 1 cup of unsweetened milk (almond milk is great, but cows’ milk, soya milk, plain yoghurt or a mix of yoghurt and milk is all good) Fruit of choice (fresh, frozen or even canned) 1 tablespoon chia seeds or flax seeds (optional but good for healthy omega 3 fats) Nuts (optional)

Method 1. Combine everything into an airtight bowl or jar (I leave nuts out as I like them crunchy) 2. Leave in the fridge overnight 3. Eat in the morning! You can heat them if you like.

Variations Fruit: apples, banana, nectarines, blueberries, strawberries, figs, redcurrants (most fruits taste great). Flavourings: flaked or desiccated coconut, ground almonds. Sweeteners: If you have a sweet tooth you can add maple syrup, honey or jam. You can experiment with chocolate milk too – lovely with bananas. Healthy fats: flax, nuts, nut butters Toppings to add in the morning: granola, nuts, raisins, sour cherries, additional fruit, chocolate chunks fraiche swirled on top, then serve with crusty bread. Ilet’sAM SOMEONE end bullying I AM SOMEONE was formed in 2012 by community leaders in Port Coquitlam following the tragic suicides of a number of local youth. The I AM SOMEONE Ending Bullying Society (IAS), together with bc211, have partnered to offer youth with an innovative texting tool that links youth with the resources they need, how and when they want it. Youth experiencing issues with bullying may be scared and not know what to do. By sending an anonymous text message, they can access non-judgmental professional support, as well as options, information, and referrals to services in their community that can help. About I AM SOMEONE’s Services Seven days a week from 8am to 11pm anyone can Text 211 throughout British Columbia. At the other end of the text message the professional support service bc211 has certified informational and referral specialists who provide non-judgmental support, information, referrals and crisis support. Andrea Howorth, Executive Director of I AM SOMEONE comments, “Bullying can be hard to recognize. Youth can visit www.bullyingornot.ca to help determine if they are being bullied. We need to spread the word and create awareness about Text 211 for help. Our message needs to be in schools, community centres and we need to educate youth counsellors about this service. Together as a community we can work on ending bullying.” About I AM SOMEONE’s Fundraising Recently, in partnership with Coquitlam Centre, IAS
