Dear friends of the Widder Hotel The nights are getting longer – and that means it’s high time we once again shift our focus to the upcoming festive period and beyond. Do you prefer tea or champagne? Or does it depend on the time? Can we tempt you with some innovative jazz, or would you prefer a traditional raclette in our chalet? Whatever your tastes, our festive calendar has plenty of treats in store to suit them all. Carnivores are sure to go wild for the delicacies in our AuGust restaurant, socialites will hit the dancefloor at the Jingle Ball, and food-lovers will delight in our exquisite Christmas menu. And not forgetting our extravagant New Year’s Eve party to finish out the year with a bang! No matter what you choose, we’re looking forward to seeing you.

Chalet «Ruinart» The Swiss certainly know how to do winter. As the mercury drops, Widder Hotel’s interior courtyard is transformed into the cosy chalet-style Ruinart Champagne Lounge. The finest bottles of Ruinart will be served with a delicious raclette, a savoury Swiss speciality. Enjoy a relaxing evening with friends in Zurich’s most beautiful „chalet“.

Legendary sounds „Widder Jazz“ The autumn blues don’t stand a chance. The Widder loves jazz – particularly when it’s cold outside. Over the last few years, the Widder Bar has hosted top international musicians on more than 300 occasions. This year we’re lucky enough to have Chile and the USA on saxophone, Mexico on the drums and Switzerland on vocals. If this is what autumn sounds like, bring it on!

Tuesday, 3rd November Melissa Aldana w. Pablo Menares & Jochen Rueckert At the age of just 25 in 2013, saxophonist Melissa Aldana won the prestigious Thelonious Monk International Jazz Saxophone Competition. Her music is marked by a triumphant blend of traditional and modern influences.
Tuesday, 17th November Antonio Sanchez & Migration Antonio Sanchez is without doubt one of the most influential and innovative drummers of our time. He has toured the world as part of the Pat Metheny Group and also made his name as a composer writing the soundtrack for Oscar-winning film Birdman.
Tuesday, 1st December Beat Kaestli & Band Beat Kaestli has received critical acclaim from the New York Times, and the Swiss jazz singer’s distinctive style once led him to be compared with José James and even described as a male Astrud Gilberto.

Cheese fondue at Restaurant „Zur Schtund“ Say cheese! Warm up with a cheese fondue served in the rustic dining room at Zur Schtund. It doesn’t get any more Swiss than this. Unsurprisingly, in both winter and summer this gastro pub is known as the Widder Hotel’s living room: guests very quickly feel at home thanks to the warm hospitality of hostess Sonja Schrepfer and her staff.

Jingle Ball – let‘s celebrate 20 years Widder Hotel All year Widder Hotel has been hosting special events to celebrate its 20th anniversary. The highlight of these year-long festivities is undoubtedly the glamorous Jingle Ball. Live music and shows, a gala dinner and a raffle – the Widder Hotel team has all the right ingredients for an unforgettable Christmas ball. And because the festive season is all about the spirit of giving, the proceeds from the raffle will be donated to the Robert F. Kennedy Human Rights Foundation Switzerland.
