Dear friends of the Widder Hotel The whole of Zurich is bathed in festive lights, the scent of mulled wine, cinnamon and Christmas biscuits is in the air, the distant ringing of bells is winding through the streets – just like every year, we can’t wait to celebrate the time-honoured ingredients of the holiday season, with its cherished rituals and cosy, family-filled days. With our festive calendar, we would like to invite you to rediscover the magic of Christmas – whether with heavenly Swiss raclette in our Igloo, the holiday-inspired Flavour menus in the Widder Bar & Kitchen, or at our distinguished New Year’s Eve party in our Widder Garage. There is a surprise hidden behind every door of our calendar to let you experience that magical festive atmosphere with all your senses. IT’S TEA TIME As the originator of afternoon tea, the Duchess of Bedford would have surely clapped her hands in joy and felt honoured to take part in the traditional ritual in our library. Afternoon tea at the Widder Hotel does the capital of tea culture proud, offering indulgent freshly-baked scones with clotted cream, delicious sandwiches and English biscuits.

IGLOO From the Arctic circle to the old town, across Rennweg and into the Widder winter wonderland. We have transformed our glass pavilion into a white winter oasis: soft powder snow covers the floor, torches cast flickering shadows onto walls of ice, and a kaleidoscope of every shade of glacier-blue immerses the scenery in enchanting light. And while the northern lights shine over the IGLOO, we’ll be offering plenty of ways to break the ice inside. After a glass of Ruinart champagne, you can enjoy an evening of raclette in the IGLOO: master chef Tino Staub and his team will be serving up the finest Swiss Raclette with a shot of sparkling Ruinart champagne to keep you warm.

From 2 November to 21st December, we’re partnering with the famous Krug Champagne house to offer you the most elevated dining experience of the season. Krug Carnotzet invites you to enjoy delicious raclette and sublime Grande Cuvée on the penthouse suite’s roof terrace, which provides a spectacular 360° panoramic view over the bright lights of Zurich.

JINGLE BELLS? NO, JINGLE BALL! Do you want to dance to our tune again? On 9th December, the time will finally come! That’s when we will begin the festive season countdown with our Jingle Ball. Our team has devised a dazzling programme to kick off the Widder party calendar: a gala dinner, live entertainment and tombola promise an unforgettable evening. And because the festive season is all about the spirit of giving, the proceeds from the raffle will be donated to UNICEF Switzerland. Let’s dance and be merry – winter doesn’t get more glamorous than this!

At 6 pm we will welcome you with a Ruinart champagne aperitif followed by a gourmet gala dinner from Executive Chef Tino Staub and his team Dancing and entertainment with live French band “Europa” Highlight: huge raffle for the benefit of UNICEF Switzerland The evening will be rounded off with a midnight snack Dress code: festive evening attire / black tie

To get you into the festive spirit, our executive chef Tino Staub and his team will delight you with delicious treats – before you’ve even unwrapped your first presents. Culinary Christmas crackers – on 24th and 25th December, our kitchen wizards will deliver you exquisite festive gifts in the form of our Flavour of Christmas menu. And you don’t even need to unwrap them...

Sparkling champagne, fine dining and live entertainment: our New Year’s Eve party provides a fantastic climax to the end of the year and a brilliant beginning to the new.
