A charter flight from San Diego delivers you to the lagoon of San Ignacio, a remote and pristine desert world – the perfect place from which to observe the gray whales in their winter breeding grounds. In between whale watching excursions, you can kayak through the labyrinth mangrove estuaries to bird watch in this natural aviary, or comb the peaceful shoreline to discover remnants of the sea. Our catered camp is situated at water’s edge with safari-style tents, cots, and solar-heated showers to make your days and nights comfortable and carefree. With delicious Mexican food and happy hour each evening, capture a lifetime of memories as you grow to love and respect the gray whales as much as we do. 8

Carl’s Home Tip of the Week
4 tips for buying new construction It’s very easy to overlook all of the added expenses of buying new. Here are a few things to budget for: 1. Incentives. Some builder incentives are great and others are not. Be informed—especially when it comes to Þnancing—and talk to your agent. 2. Window Coverings. You’ll make quite the impression on your new neighbors strutting through your bedroom without blinds on the windows. 3. Appliances. Be sure you know what is and what is NOT included. The refrigerator is a biggie that many builders do not include. A nice fridge can cost thousands. 4. Landscaping. It’s not uncommon for the builder to landscape just the front yard, and don't forget that you may need a fence for your pets. Many neighborhoods require the back yard to be completed within 1 year of move in.

BC (Before Computers) most gay men used the hankie code in one way or another. Just putting a hanky in your back pocket was enough to make a man’s penis drool like a Pavlov dog The DDG has over the years printed this code for the enjoyment of gay men young and old. The handkerchief code was a way, for men to recognize each other without actually asking. The handkerchief code used location and color, to indicate the sexual interests in both a give and take kind of way. Some think this code has been replaced by an HTML check box. But come to DFA night and see for yourself how fun it is. Note some codes are different so double check and ask before you wet it or stick it.
Desert Fetish Authority brings back the hanky code! Check out this quarterly bar night, this time at the Tool Shed on Saturday, June 27 from 8-10 pm. desertfetishauthority.com Visit us at desertdailyguide.com and Like us on Facebook.com/desertdailyguide

LEATHER REALM by Dave Murdock And now, drum roll please, we’re going wrap up our 8 part series on “So you THINK you’re a TOP”. We’ve covered all kinds of responsibilities, ways to have a great time in a scene, communication, trust, limits and emergency situations and we’ll end with discussions about novice players, as well as self control. So why are novices due special care? Well, first of all, they’re novices… duh. We want them to come back and explore their potentials. But you’ll never get them back in your playroom if they haven’t had a good time or if you’ve frightened them away from the scene for life either by not allowing them a little leeway, or trying to break them their first time out. Be careful to explain exactly what’s going to happen and continually check in with them during a scene. Don’t expect that they’ll even have a clue about proper dungeon etiquette, proper ways to react in a scene, or even about safewords. It’s up to you to teach them all that, and it won’t happen in just one scene. A good Top wants the sub to have a good time, because if they do have one they’ll be back, whether it’s to your playroom or not. And, if they’ve had a good time they’ll be able to trust more easily in the future, which will allow them to go even further in their explorations the next time around. It’s really easy. Your mother taught you not to break your toys, right? Because if you did you wouldn’t have them to play with any26
more, right? Same thing with your novice player, don’t use them all up at once, allow them to build their experience at their own pace. Remember, if the bottom doesn’t have a good time it’s YOUR responsibility, not theirs. Something very closely related to the treatment of novice players is the issue of self control. Of course it doesn’t just apply to novice players, but they’re the ones who you can more easily send screaming into the night if you don’t exercise it. And it most definitely includes NOT doing a scene with someone who isn’t sober or on drugs. Yes, I know, the guy’s hot and hunky, but if he’s not sober he can’t tell you when the scene is going too far. So, who has the responsibility to maintain self control, even in situations where the bottom is begging you to do something? You guessed it, the Top always have to preserve their personal self control. You have to be able to tell the sub, “No, I’m not going to flog you with barbed wire until you die from blood loss, I don’t care how much of a masochist you are” OK, I was being extreme, but even if you are both having a great time it’s always the Top who has to watch out for taking a scene too far in the heat of the moment. Just because it feels good to you, physically or mentally, doesn’t mean that you should do it. An obvious example would be barebacking. The temptation is always there, Continued on page 41

JERSEY’S JOURNAL by Jersey Shore Why is everyone so concerned about what other people are doing? It’s obsessive behavior. Do you realize that if you concentrated on yourself, you’ll be surprised what you can accomplish. Why waste your energy wondering about John Doe, when you can be wondering about yourself. Why is Mr. Doe working so much? What is Mr. Doe doing today? What is Mr. Doe wearing? Why do you care so much? It’s apparent that you have issues. The time you spent on Mr. Doe, you could have been focusing on becoming Mr. Dough and make some money or accomplish goals for a happy and eventful life. Imitation is the greatest form of flattery they say. I think it’s a cop out. It’s a lack of originality and just lazy. It’s also a huge red flag that you are a hack. I am constantly being emulated. So, I guess I am doing something correctly. The audience tells me, but what works for me won’t work for you, because it works for me. I am ME and you are YOU. ME... fabulous and confident. YOU... tired and unoriginal. I lit my blue candle and let it burn til it went out. A blue candle focused on getting rid of the negative energy, people, and aspects of your life. I lit it and poof! Negative be gone. Actually my phone stopped ringing, so I must have had some negative energy. Now I don’t. I washed my 40
hands of idiotic people and back to my happy life. Stab yourself in the back. Apparently you need to bring people down to rise above. I just rise above! Peace, Love and Confidence, Jersey You can follow Jersey Shore on Facebook or email @ Dragapalooza@aol.com Jersey can be seem performing at CCBC July 4th, Friday June 26th 10pm @ Azul, and the return of Throw Back Thursdays @ the Ultra Max Cinema starting August 6th

and we’d all like to partake, and it feels so great BUT, unless you’re in a committed relationship, the outcome can be tragic for one of you, and it’s the Tops responsibility to draw the line. And yes, I know all about Truvada, but that doesn’t prevent hepatitis or other STD’s. That and taking a drug that can, in some people, create Increased fasting cholesterol, decreased phosphorus, increased fasting triglycerides, altered serum glucose, weight loss, and hyperglycemia just doesn’t seem to be better than just using a condom, at least for me, everyone else can make their own decisions. Bottom line (no pun intended), being a Top is great fun, but it brings with it all the responsibilities I’ve shared with you over the past several weeks. If you’re ready to take them all on, wonderful, there’s always a shortage of trained, sane Leather Tops. If you’re not one of that cadre yet but you want to be, keep working on your skill sets. Remember, the medical profession has a guideline that says, “Above all do no harm”. If we all adopted that motto we would have a safer, saner community, that knows how to play on the edge, knows how to make a scene steamily sexy and yet allows everyone to experience everything that they want to without fear of mental or physical injury. Face it, without the bottoms around or how can we call ourselves Tops?

THAT IS FUNNY Please fire me. A lady came in screaming and ranting how we wrote an obscene insult on her sandwich. Turns out she ordered a BLT with cheese. We wrote Blt +ch on it. It took my manager 15 minutes just to calm her down enough to even listen to us. Told you a complete Blt +ch! Can’t wait for the release of Jurassic Park 4D where they just let dinosaurs loose in the theater and you try to survive for 2 hours I don’t normally chase after men but if he’s over 6ft and has good hair, then a bitch might just power-walk me: *embarrasses self in public* me: *loudly* I sure hope no one MURDERS me tonight in my sleep WHERE I LIVE at 125 west (that’s W-E-S-T) roa…

THE LAST WORD by George W. Zander The Federal Correctional Facility, Victorville is a medium-security United States federal prison for male inmates. The facility also has an adjacent satellite prison camp for low-security female inmates. In 2012, Eric Holder, the then Attorney General sent out a directive that all employees should have educational information on working with the LGBT community. The administrative leaders, lead by Bryan Goodrich at Victorville, contacted Equality California in Los Angeles, and Equality California Office Desert Cities created a program to assist them with their educational process for their employees. In 2012 we had Doug Hairgrove from Safe Schools, Jim Stuart from the Parole Board, and a sheriff deputy from the High Desert in San Bernardino County. We all spoke and told our stories, and then answered dozens of questions from the employees.
were many questions and folks were very interested. There were fewer questions and more employee stories. This year, I will go again, but the whole program will be folks from the correctional institutions’ staff. Clearly education has moved forward and the group has become more and more accepting after these programs. And I know, things will continue on within the employee group to learn more from each other. It is a great program and I am proud, along with Equality California to be involved with their education. To learn more about Equality California, go to www.EQCA.org .
In 2013, Mattie Leyden, a transgender woman, Riverside County Sheriff Raymond Gregory from the Riverside presented. In 2014, we had again, Raymond Gregory who brought a Sheriff Deputy who newly had begun working. Several employees this year actually told their stories to their fellow employees. A woman who was raised by two moms and an employee who came out to his co-workers. That was an amazing and emotional moment. As always there George W.
