THIS WEEK With Will One might think they will blame the water shortage on long showers by gay men. Those of us that have lived long enough to remember the first anti-Gay activist take a pie in her face probably know history. As Louis CK said, older people should be listened to, we have seen things. We saw a sitting president quit, that’s right, just up and quit. Fuck off, America he said, so they moved all the dump trucks surrounding the White House and he escaped, leaving the Vice President in charge. He just got into a helicopter and left waving out the window. Does anyone even know our Vice President today? No, because that deal was set nearly eight years ago. Obama can win, and Hillary was weak on foreign affairs. But Hillary could go to the green party and sink another election for the Democrats. Because even though we have a two party system, there are enough people so sick of both parties that the green party can use that potential to control the Democrats as that Tea Party controls the Republicans.

That’s ridiculous. And so it goes with rights, human rights, gay rights, and now our water rights. Is there really any difference? When our leaders play with our unalienable rights, you are attacking the constitution, your own country. Just because we gave away all the jobs, we remember we have to actually make laws to sell off our nation’s land and give opportunities to foreign interests. Jefferson understood “unalienable rights” as fixed rights given to us just by whatever function that causes us to exist, and more importantly rather not by government or alterable by some over others. Just because many would like 50 shades of equal to exist does not mean it ever could.

Or at least, we did. Today, we drown every legislature with an analysis of what is politically popular before we ever start to discuss an issue. We even have to gloom and doom people, laughingly accusing them of being on the wrong side of history, while they kill us with 1000 paper cuts of anti-gay So it goes, when both parties are only loyal legislature, or only politically neutral isto their party. After all, the voters are loyal sues, also known as “things no one cares to one party and have and will, for the good about.” When rights, as always, become of the country, vote against their own party. politically charged, we will have the only Because that’s what we want our leaders to hat in the ring, because if you want to prove do as well, and we hold them responsible something to the public you have to show a for any thing that goes wrong. That’s right; history of evidence. States banning discrimwe blame both parties when things go ination of gay rights at any level can and wrong. This also means the incessant conwill be used against us to slow our progrestest of blaming the other party for everysion in the same way other minorities are thing that goes wrong in a two party system. back with a series continued on page 25 Visit us at desertdailyguide.com and Likeheld us on Facebook.com/desertdailyguide 31

PEOPLE TALK Since Mike Luke’s Gay Men’s View, the local gay community has lost much of their collective voice. We want to hear directly from you. If you believe as we do that you are not just a demographic for corporate to pick your wallet but simply one of many unique individual, a real person that actually shops, consumes, and votes. But you’re on your own terms and not a group, and by the way, your sexuality in no way defines you. In this column we welcome all comments, both positive and negative, to our points with your opinion. If you have some talking points, please let us know.

School District Board Member John Gerardi. The topic of the discussion was the school district’s rejection of a Peace Pole at Desert Hot Springs High School. The school district said in an e-mail that “peace” was not “politically neutral.”

Issue The Cathedral City Evening Rotary invites you to spend an evening with us to enjoy a movie in the park! It’s free and open to the public. But it’s sometimes canceled in high winds.

Issue Cathedral City creates Hell Week event. The City of Cathedral City allows Safe and Sane Fireworks to be sold and discharged between June 28 and July 4th.

Best answer: in Seattle, it rains often so naturally the outdoor events always have a backup plan. Many have expressed a viewpoint that we should ask a local cinema to step in when it is canceled. What other options exist? Issue Recently it was reported Veterans For Peace met with Palm Springs Unified 28

Best answer: this seems to contradict a basic government premise to keep us safe first and not political at all. Working for peace is the best way to protect our citizens and should never be factored politically. We wonder what Congressman Raul Ruiz would say so we sent it to his office. Let us know if you agree.

Best answer: this seems in line with most 1950’s political thinking. I mean, god forbid it would be unwise to set off fire-powered devices in our wet season. Still, it’s nice to know you can still stock up on incendiary devices in at least one city in the United States. But it proves one thing; the democratic system is alive as well at least in Cathedral City as they struggle to adapt.

of legislation that hampers the poor and people of color. Given water rights, we only care about the profit from these rights, not the cost to individuals. The proof is it has been this back and fourth bickering that has caused a water shortage that was initially created in 1922 but took almost one hundred years to surface, pardon the pun. But what rose to the surface was not water but the pungent aroma of bullshit. So we have been working and studying the water issue too long now to just say “oops.” Today, it’s likely there is no shortage at all, but rather another politically advantageous position that both parties are trying to leverage against one another and the public at large. So even though the blame is political, it’s because it was politically neutral and doing nothing allowed it to stay that way until we squeezed the last liter and sent it into another plastic bottle labeled as precious California water, the last of its kind. Thus, it can be placed at the feet of the voters for the last 93 years. That is over 20 presidential elections and countless city and state elections, special elections, evictions, seat vacating, resignations and out right arrests of our vaulted public officials and their own personal friends and family first monetary reimbursement plan.

So yeah, it’s all of us, each and every male of voting age, the politicians, the women (because a history of male domination must be of lesser blame) and other marginalized people. I did not include Mother Nature, though, because to be responsible, you must be able to act responsibly or irresponsibly, and so far only humans demonstrate that trait. But that’s why we, the people, have the power, because try as they might to out think us or trick us or play both sides against the middle, it is all to wrangle an ounce of the tons of power we have as voters. But when they make us feel pain, as they are doing with our restaurants or golf courses and use us, the voter, they prove they don’t need to care about us, we simply make them. Telling people to come back next year, maybe we will be completely out of water, on account of we wasted it and Nevada and bottled water people stole some and a lot leaked into another country will not be enough to wash the stink from anyone’s hands. Once you pour water on the voters, we become thirsty for revenge.

Veterans Notes

Michelle Obama is claiming that close to 100,000 jobs in the tech industry are coming for military veterans and their spouses over the next five years. Since President Obama issued a challenge to the private sector to bring aboard people who’ve served in the military, close to one million veterans have been trained in the tech industry. Hopefully this practice will continue so be on the look out if they come calling your name. Dust off that keyboard and get ready to type! LE

LEATHER REALM by Dave Murdock SEX, SEX, AND MORE SEX! Now that I have your attention, what is it that Leatherfolk do differently than anyone else in the sexual department? Obviously we still have the same types of actual sex: French, Greek, active, passive, and everything in between (and possibly beyond). Yes, we do add in some kinky things, like spanking, flogging, bondage, etc., and yes, that does add to the sex. OK, I hear you, how can anyone in total bondage be having a great time sexually? Well, first of all, you don’t have to restrain the ENTIRE body. You can leave parts out and available for use, as you like. “OK, well, that’s bondage,” I hear you say, but what about flogging, or caning or piercings or electro-play? They all have elements of pain, or at least intense sensation. How do they add to the sexual aspect of the play?

really, really hot stud you cruised at the bar. Classically handsome, awesome bod, fur pattern to die for, and the sexiest voice on the planet, but when you get him into bed it’s…. OK. Yes, you might have had an orgasm, but it wasn’t mind-blowing, and maybe during the middle of it you were thinking of work, what errands you had to run the next day, what you wanted for dinner the next night. But the point is, your body was involved but your mind wasn’t.

And that’s precisely why I think that Leathersex is so intense, and I think there are two reasons. The first is almost technical. The dominant partner HAS to be totally concentrated on the task at hand. Some of the play involves toys that can do unintended bodily harm if he isn’t totally in the moment, and totally in control of the play toys. The second reason is that the dominant partner has to be totally Before I answer that, let me ask YOU a in rapport with the passive partner. The question. What’s the biggest sexual organ top has to learn to read the person they’re in your body? No, not in AOL inches, nor playing with. Is there back arching? Are is it your penis/vagina/ass, or whatever they pulling away from you or getting activates your orgasms. It’s not the sense closer? Are their fingers and toes curlof touch, taste, smell, sight or hearing, ing (one of the best “tells”)? Are their although they all connect to your largest muscles tensed, relaxed, cramping? Are sex organ. Give up? Well, most of you they being subjected to unintended pain, figured it out already. IT’S YOUR BRAIN! like being restrained on a St. Andrews cross for too long, or in an uncomfortI’ve had this experience, and I’m sure able position? Either way, they’re being most of you have also. CABANA BOY NOTES: WE’RE ALMOST THERE... ALMOST, THOUGH. News has just released that gay marriage is supported by a whopping 61 percent of Americans. That’s 3 out of every 5 americans, for you math geeks. That’s the highest it’s been in, well, forever. Literally forever. It’s never been that high, and it only seems logical that it would continue to climb higher than that as time goes by. Granted, hell will freeze faster than it reaches anywhere sniffing a full hundred percent (though we’d demand 110% because we’re crazy like that), but the higher the better, I always say. The longer, too. It’s really a young man’s game, however, and even the conservatives are coming around. A Pew poll stated that 61% of Republicans under the age of 30 supported gay marraige! That’s incredible! Those queer bashing loons are even coming around on our side. We happen to be on the winning side, and we all know how those ‘Pubs love to be on the winning side of history, even if they fought like hell against it and continue to do so in secret, too, but any public endorsement in our favor is still a public endorsement in our favor. But even with all this good news, we still have a ways to go to get full acceptance. As long as bills like Indiana’s famously restrictive religious freedom law are even considered to be passable, there’s still a long, long road ahead. States like Alabama and Louisiana all but defy federal law, sticking to their guns and refusing to go along with the flow. As long as these tight asses keep their iron gloves firmly around our freedoms, we have to keep fighting, y’all!

outside source, and you want them totally concentrated on what is being done to them intentionally. The bottom plays just as important a role. He’s providing cues, both visual and auditory, that tell the top what’s going on with his body AND HIS MIND. He’s also processing all the sensations to which he’s being subjected. It’s hard to be thinking about what you’re wearing to work tomorrow when you’re on the receiving end of 22,000 volts of electricity, believe me. (Yes, I do know from personal experience.) So, why is this so important? Think about it. You are both totally involved, mentally. At least in all my successful play, I’m as deep into the boy’s mind as I may be into his body. That’s total communication, whether or not words are being exchanged. You become two sides of the same coin, going on a roller-coaster ride together that is as totally orgasmic in spirit as it is in body. And let’s not forget the body. The physical feeling of a good Leathersex orgasm is the most intense sensation I’ve ever experienced, and I be-

lieve it is because of the intense physical and mental sharing that happens during a good scene. Does it have to involve Leathersex? Maybe you just like plain vanilla, which is fine, too. Just follow the same precepts. Talk about what you’re doing, and why you’re doing it. LOVE him! Talk dirty to him. Use every part of your body to express yourself, hands, feet, lips, tongue, and do it all at once if you can. But be involved. Believe me, it’s worth the effort! WEEKLY GUIDE TO THE STARS ARIES March 20 - April 18: If you’ve got a hole burning in your pocket, it probably means you have a piece of molten rock in there. What’s with you, guy? TAURUS April 19 - May 19: Serendipity can be amusing. But not the movie with the same title. The one with John Cusack? Booooring. GEMINI May 20 - June 19: If you feel like you’ve been running to everything lately, just walk. I mean, how hard does that sound? Not very, my friend. CANCER June 20 - July 21: Look, just because the Dos Equis guy did it in a commercial, doesn’t mean you can get away with randomly groping folks in the name of greatness. He’s just an actor. It’s just an ad. Jeez.

LEO July 22 - Aug. 21: Feeling out of place in the world? That’s because you are. You belong in the ocean. I mean, you’ve got gills, for cripes’ sake! VIRGO Aug. 22 - Sept. 21: Relationships can be tough. Trust me. I know. Like the time me and my pet snake Cheezy...well, I won’t bore you with details, but long story short, we’re not allowed in San Antonio anymore. LIBRA Sept. 22 - Oct. 21: Shower. Shower. Shower. CAPRICORN Dec. 21-Jan. 18: Everything is relatively different from one another. I mean, muscle cars and rotten oranges. What’s up with that, am I right? AQUARIUS Jan. 19 - Feb. 17: Look, it shouldn’t need to be said, but “smashing it with a hammer repeatedly” is not a catch-all for fixing electronic equipment. PISCES Feb. 18 - March 19: The old adage about a woodchuck chucking wood could not be more apt for you than seventeen weeks from now at 4:37 AM. Trust me...

JERSEY’S JOURNAL by Jersey Shore Life is too short for pettiness, and my life keeps getting shorter everyday because of pettiness. My tolerance and faith in humanity keeps diminishing every day. People you think you have formed a bond with, suddenly decide to become petty and destroy said bond. The bond is a seal. When you seal a relationship then you decide that particular person is in your life for the long haul and if you get into a difficult situation you do everything possible to salvage the situation and save the relationship. If the bond is strong enough, it is worth fixing.

I have Karma on my side. My life is such a huge mess right now and I often wonder why bother, but one thing I know is that the good will stay, while the bad goes away. Good Karma isn’t about being rich and famous and fabulous. Karma to me equals happiness. It’s a good, simple, drama free life. It’s a calm and peaceful existence. A few good friends, my dog, and just being able to do what I like to do. I don’t ask for much, just love and respect and if I can’t get those from you, then move on, we are on different pages in life, and my book is not a drama.

I found myself at a point in my life where Peace, Love, and Simplicity, I ripped that seal and let go of toxic Jersey fluids. When good happens to my friends, I support them. Instead of feelings of jealousy I feel happiness for my friends. I expect the same in return. If you are let You can see all things Jersey Shore on into my life then you should know my Facebook or contact me via email @ intentions are nothing but support. I’ve Dragapalooza@aol.com noticed that the feelings are never reciprocated. People like you for your name and once you fall into a bad place, instead of helping or just understanding the situation, they can’t be bothered and on to the next big thing. I was told the word was Fame F**ker. Sounds like Trucker. I was told the term means using someone’s name to get things. I experienced that in Hollywood and it just makes you look like a pathetic tool. Now what does that say about you as a human? Do I dare even describe you as human?
