Workhouse Arts Center
Previously the Lorton Workhouse Prison, the space was converted into the Workhouse Arts Center in 2008. The mission of the Workhouse Arts Center is to Create and grow an arts center and community that fosters a diverse offering of arts, arts education, entertainment and social experiences for people of all ages. The Workhouse supports more than 100 professional and emerging artists, providing them open studio space to work and galleries to display their art. The Workhouse also supports the performing arts with a variety of theater, music, and dance performances. The Workhouse Education Department offers over 150 classes and workshops quarterly in both the visual and performing arts.
