t’s assumed that everyone knows that New York City is the city that doesn’t sleep, thanks to Fred Ebb and John Kander, who wrote the song and Frank Sinatra, who made it a showstopping song. But some of our more favorite holiday movies show us how great the city is from Thanksgiving to New Year’s Eve. The holiday season is officially kicked off with the annual Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, the largest parade in the world. Taking off from Macy’s Herald Square for the very first time on Thanksgiving Day, 1924, which makes it the secondoldest Thanksgiving parade in the United States, along with Detroit’s parade, behind Philadelphia’s. Macy’s Thanksgiving Day parade has been televised so that families across the country can also enjoy the festivities in their homes since 1953. A few days after the infamous parade, is the annual lighting of the tree at Rockefeller Center. The ceremony is free and open to the public with space being first come first serve. The very first time a tree was lit in Rockefeller Center was just a twentyfoot tree that was decorated with homemade streamers and garlands and ornaments made from tin cans, in 1931.

This original tree was decorated by Rockefeller Center construction workers who were grateful to be working during the Great Depression. In 1933, Rockefeller put up a ﬁfty-foot tree and decorated it with hundreds of twinkling lights. The Rockefeller Center tree is always a favored site every holiday season. There are also Christmas Markets that pop up as early as the end of October. One of the more prominent such markets is Bank of America Winter Village at Bryant Park. There’s a skating pond, reservations are required, and start being taken in late October. There are a myriad of choices of holiday shops and restaurants, one could surely ﬁnd the perfect gift for their loved ones and

enjoy a nice meal while doing so. A must-do activity when spending time in New York City during the holiday season is spending time to view the festive window displays at Bloomingdales, Bergdorf Goodman’s, Tiﬀany’s, Saks Fifth Avenue, and of course, Macy’s. These retailers are well known for their extravagant holiday window displays. Children of all ages, young and old ﬁle past these windows with visions of sugar plums dancing in their eyes. Presumably, everyone has heard of the Radio City Rockettes and their most popular show of the year is their annual Christmas Spectacular at Radio City Music

Hall. Take the time to check out this show that includes beautiful dancers along with the big jolly elf himself, Santa Claus. And while you’re at it, pose for a picture with the giant ornaments across the street from the venue. To round out the holiday season in New York City, New Year’s Eve. The history of the New Year’s Eve ball in Time Square began with its maiden decent in 1907, when it was dropped on a ﬂagpole and has been lowered every year since with the exceptions of 1942 and 1943, due to WWII, when people still crowded the streets but greeted the new year with a moment of silence followed by the ringing of chimes.

If you’re going to watch the ball drop in person, be advised to arrive early. People start arriving in the early afternoon and some spots are already crowded by mid-day. Be prepared for a long wait and ginormous crowds. But if that isn’t you’re thing, maybe dine at a restaurant or book a room in a hotel located in Times Square. There’s always a chance to walk outside just as the ball drops. New York City is definitely a city that knows how to celebrate the joyous holiday season. If you are a Tim Burton fan then this is a must see. THE LINQ’S HIGH ROLLER

The LINQ’s High Roller, located at the LINGQ Hotel & Casino, is a great place to get photos from a diﬀerent perspective. This Ferris wheel isn’t like any Ferris wheel at a state fair, it is the world’s tallest Ferris wheel! Each spacious cabin has a 360 degree panorama view and takes half an hour to complete a full circle. A great tip is to take this ride as long as you are not afraid of heights, at sundown where you can get a gorgeous shot of the sunset behind the hotels and rolling hills. After your photoshootI mean ride, head on over to the LINQ Promenade where you can take stunning pictures in front of the High Roller.

If flowers are your thing, then head on over to the Bellagio Conservatory and Botanical Garden located inside the Bellagio Resort. Here you find beautiful and mesmerizing displays of plants and flowers. It may not be an attraction by definition, but the grunginess look of this area is the complete opposite of what you will find on the Las Vegas Strip. So what makes this place Instagram worthy? Well this area of downtown Las Vegas, specifically Fremont Street, is a budding art district where you will find colorful and larger than life murals every corner you turn. There’s nothing more Instagram worthy than a cool moral as your background and while you are there enjoy the greenspace and have a drink! Motorworks Brewing is located in Bradenton, Fl in a building that was originally built in 1923 as an automobile dealership of Hudson motor dealership. It transformed into a complete full production brewery and taproom to house what is known today as Motorworks Brewing. Motorworks Brewing takes pride in achieving the largest beer garden in Florida. The gardens’ center has a 150+ year old oak tree that is encompassed by a large deck. The deck supports a dozen cornhole sets, live music, a bocce ball court, life-sized Jenga and Connect Four, and a 22ft projector screen for outdoor ﬁlms and viewing sports. Motorworks Brewing hosts many events for all types of occasions; parties, weddings, even private/business events.
