PASTOR DIXON

Pastor: Let us gather in the name of the Lord who has given us life itself. People: We were once a people without hope and a people who had no salvation. Pastor: Yet God has sent us a Savior to lead us out of darkness into light. People: Let us choose the ways of the Lord; let us choose the way of salvation. Pastor: Let us lift our voices in praise that all may hear of God's Love. All: Blessed be the name of the Lord! *HYMN OF PRAISE

“”O How I Love Jesus”

Hymnal #170

*PRAYER OF CONFESSION (In Unison) Almighty God, so often we have chosen to live by our own rules even though You have warned us that only Your ways lead to true life. So often we have been like children wanting everything our way instead of hearing Your promises of life for those who will reach out to serve others and eternity for those who are faithful. You could have rightfully turned away from us, for we have all fallen short in sin. Yet You chose to reach out and show us salvation. Forgive us, Lord. In Jesus name we pray. Amen. CHILDREN’S MOMENT

Installation of Church Officers Pastor: In the churches of our faith and order, much of the responsibility for the ministry of the congregation is entrusted to the laity. In like manner, this congregation, seeking the guidance of the Holy Spirit, has chosen persons to serve in their appointed places—to be associated with their fellow members already so serving and with the pastor and other members of this staff. People: Praise be to God for the creativity of his love in the many gifts manifest among us. Officers: Having been nominated by the Nomination Committee and duly elected by the congregation at its annual charge conference, we do now present ourselves for installation. Pastor: God’s call has been sounded through his church. You have been responsive to this call. In these moments you come offering your gifts of personality, talent, energy, and time in ministry through this congregation. May your position of leadership be not just a job to be done but an opportunity to grow in all Christ-like graces; may you celebrate the church in new relationships, may you discover life’s meaning in service. Officers: If there is something I can do, I want to do it wholehearted as unto the Lord. I will need the trust, prayers, and encouragement of my fellow officers and fellow members. I now commit myself and the gifts of God’s love and grace to me, that with the quickening of his Spirit I may become that instrument of his to which the church is calling me. Congregation (stand): We members of this congregation sense our responsibility to give ourselves in support of the ministry to which you give leadership. “We are members one of another.” We are called to minister to each other and to the world. Together we need to discover what God is calling this congregation to be and not to do. We need to dream together, study together, worship together, and serve together. Together may we exalt Christ, the head of the church. For our ministry may we experience the light and strength of God’s own spirit.
