VIEW FROM THE HILL Well, what a start to the final series. Firstly, congratula ons to the Mount Burr Football and Netball Clubs on a super day. From my vantage point at the ground, it would appear that most people were at least trying to do the right thing in regard to all the protocols that we now have to abide by and the football didn't let us down either. In the early match, Glencoe almost snatched the win against their more fancied opponents. Having had the majority of play, they just couldn't convert as easily as the bigger bodied Robe lads. In a tremendous display of junior finals footy the Robe Roosters kicked a goal virtually on the siren to give them a 9pt victory and a berth in a preliminary final next week. In the senior colts match against Tantanoola and Kongorong, the Tigers played hard a acking footy early and their forward line didn't let them down, ge ng them out to a 32pt lead at ¾ me. Kongorong however, had other ideas, and with Tantanoola taking their foot off the pedal oh so slightly, this opened the door slightly for a Kongorong comeback. And they nearly stole the game from right underneath Tant's noses to go down by just 12pts. In the Reserve's game, Kalangadoo was no match for the Bay boys who definitely came to play. Port MacDonnell quickly asserted their authority on the game opening up a 20pt lead at ¼ me and from then on Kalangadoo were chasing jumpers for the remainder of the match. Port MacDonnell's impressive 58pt win will give the side a real confidence boost heading into next week's prelim final. In the final match of the day, Hatherleigh took on Robe, who they hadn't defeated in the home and away fixture, but this accounted for nothing. Both sides played hard a acking footy, but some undisciplined play and crucial errors under pressure was what cost Robe the match in the end. A couple of yellow cards to Robe players late in the first and again during the second quarter had them on the back foot and at half me there was only 4pts in it, in favour of Robe. That all important premiership quarter saw Robe li the intensity and place more pressure on the ball carrier and they were able to extend their lead to 15pts at the final break. The nursery end of the ground was proving to be the scoring end and Hatherleigh were determined to use it to their advantage. Ten minutes into the last quarter and Robe definitely had Hatherleigh's measure. They were
repelling a ack a er a ack, and Hatherleigh couldn't penetrate their forward 50. But to the Eagles credit, they just keep plugging away and pushing the ball forward and in a blink of an eye they had posted 3 quick goals to be just 2pts behind. 2019 WBFL medallist in Mikey Telford put the Eagles in front with a sterling goal and the Eagles were ready to strike. Hatherleigh kept peppering the goals that saw their lead extend to one straight kick. It was then that Robe went coast to coast from a kick-in to eventually land in the lap of full forward Riley Dickinson at the top of the square and it looked like the game was heading into over me. But with a rush of blood and adrenalin doing strange things to players, he chose to play on, to which the umpire obliged and he was descended upon by a convoca on of Eagles and they were able to clear the ball and the rest they say is history. The siren went shortly a er, much to the delight of the Hatherleigh players and supporters and delivering heartbreak to Robe. In such a high intensity, well skilled game it was unfortunate that there had to be a loser. Not to say that Robe would've won in over me anyway but we'll never know, and Hatherleigh live to fight another day and Robe are le to contemplate what could've been. Jake Dowdy lead from the front with 3 goals and a BOG performance, with other mul ple goal kickers for the Eagles being Jack Skeer Jordy Galpin and Sam Telfer. Skeer was named 2nd best, followed by Will Chay, Galpin, Sam Waring and Jase Faulkner who probably made a winning move late in the last quarter to deny Robe a vital centre clearance. For Robe Billy Laurie and Riley Dickinson were their only mul ple goal kickers with 3 each. Laurie was also named Robes best followed by George Du on, Jasper Barri , Jordan Pe t, Jordan Hentschke and Tom Gould. So, now to today’s games and we'll start with the Junior Colts, where ladder leaders Kongorong take on Hatherleigh. The ledger sits at one win a piece during the season with vastly different scores and margins in both matches, so either player availability had a lot to do with the results or teams have vastly improved. As can be seen in last week's matches, finals are a different game altogether and the results during the minor rounds mean diddly squat. Whichever team can play good team football, apply that all important scoreboard pressure will ul mately take the easy road into the grand final in two
weeks' me. Very hard to pick a winner, so I'll toss the coin and it goes to Kongorong. In the Senior Colts the undefeated Robe unit take on Hatherleigh who like their A Grade counterparts seem to peaking at the business end of the season. Robe have completely dominated this grade and have comprehensively won both their matches against Hatherleigh during the minor round. The Robe Football Club would be bi erly disappointed that the A Grade side got knocked out last week and a great deal of effort will be put into the remaining three sides to at least get one flag to take home at the end of the finals campaign. Robe in a canter. Robe and Hatherleigh also meet in the B Grade to see who gets the week off and the easy road to the grand final. Hatherleigh have been the benchmark here, only losing one game to Tantanoola at the height of their club injury list. No such issues now, with their only headaches at the selec on table. Robe have been on the improve all year and I expect them to tackle this game with a no holds barred a tude and hope for the best. Hatherleigh to win and win well. And in the main game we have the undefeated Kalangadoo up against Port MacDonnell. Port MacDonnell have only lost three games for the year, two against Kalangadoo and recently to Hatherleigh, who they will be keen to avoid in next week's prelim. Kalangadoo will be without their leading goal kicker in Michael Krieger who suffered a season ending injury in their last match against Glencoe. This will no doubt leave big shoes to fill, but who be er to fill them than perhaps Ben Mules. Krieger has been instrumental to the success of Kalangadoo this year and his speed around goal will be missed. Kalangadoo are a very well drilled side and execute their game plan to precision. Port MacDonnell will have to be at the top of their game to see if they can penetrate the Kalangadoo physique, and in the mean me apply plenty of scoreboard pressure. Port MacDonnell will provide plenty of headaches for Kalangadoo as well, with McElroy and MacDonald back in the side together with Bromley and Sullivan I don't think Kalangadoo have the talls to match them. On a dry day, you would almost be tempted to pick Port MacDonnell, but the finals experience and team understanding of Kalangadoo will see them advance to the big dance in a fortnight’s me.

second SEMI-FINAL match PREVIEWS 13 & Under KALANGADOO v HATHERLEIGH In our youngest ba le of the day, Kalangadoo will take on Hatherleigh. Kalangadoo finished top of the ladder and remain undefeated, with no team ge ng close to them all season. It really is the next genera on of brilliance coming through for the Magpies, following in their mothers' footsteps! Chloe Peacock has had an outstanding season, winning the 15 & Under Best and Fairest award while s ll being eligible and playing in this 13's team. Likewise, Tegan Lythgo has also been compe ng in both grades, and playing amazing netball. Shayden Russell was runner-up in the 13's league best and fairest, polling 25 votes. Shayden is a versa le player, playing in the midcourt or in goals, she uses her height to her advantage, while having speed and endurance on her side as well. Alice Allen is also another dangerous player for the Magpies, she is capable of playing any posi on on the court and is a clever player, able to read the ball extremely well. Hatherleigh have finished in 2nd posi on, and also have some incredible young players. Kalli Ne le won the league best and fairest, polling 30 votes a er an outstanding season. Kalli is a crea ve player who can play anywhere on court and enjoys a great contest. Kalli will likely play in goals this weekend. Alex Haines will be another player to watch, Alex is also a versa le player that has enjoyed a stellar season in defence. She has great peripheral vision and reads the play well. Poppy Fitzgerald has had a great season, developing into a ght checking defender who also reads the play well. The teams have only met once this season, and it was Kalangadoo who were victorious by over 20 goals. While the Hatherleigh girls will give their absolute all, it is hard to see anyone ge ng close to Kalangadoo this year. 15 & Under MOUNT BURR v HATHERLEIGH In the first match of the day, we will see Mount Burr take on Hatherleigh in the 15's. Mount Burr secured top spot on the ladder at the end of the minor rounds. Mount Burr are a talented team that have showed versa lity and shown they can quickly adapt to posi onal changes. They apply strong defensive pressure, crea ng turnovers they can capitalise on. They are quite a tall side mixed with some speed and agility. Hatherleigh finished in 2nd this year. Hatherleigh also boast some serious talent. Just like Mount Burr, they have players that are able to play either end of the court and won't be afraid to make changes should they need too, adap ng with ease. Bella Poulish for the Eagles is a dangerous player, she shoots with high accuracy and is also a fantas c rebounder should she need a second shot. Niah Faulkner is also a consistent goalie for Hatherleigh, she is a crea ve player in the goal circle, moving well and shoo ng with high accuracy. Tori Haines and Deni Brown are strong for the Eagles through the middle, Tori is a great reader of the ball and capable of crucial turnovers when needed. Deni is a quiet achiever who has grown in confidence during the season and is pa ent around the circle. For Mount Burr, Abbey Fal ng will be a player to watch, she plays a floa ng GD and will pick off balls from her unsuspec ng opposi on. Her speed and agility is great to watch. In goals for the Burr will likely be Jasmine Holland and Jemma Bowering. Both girls have a high work rate and finish off with accuracy, not giving their defenders too many looks at rebounds. Mount Burr lead the head to head, having an easy win in their first match but only ge ng up by a goal the last me they met. Finals are a different ball game, teams will need to se le quickly. Should be a great contest. 17 & Under HATHERLEIGH v KALANGADOO In what should be a cracker game, Hatherleigh take on Kalangadoo in our oldest junior contest for the day. Hatherleigh finished just ahead of Kalangadoo at the end of the minor round, both teams having a very successful season. Hatherleigh have talent from one end of the court to the other. Their goalies are certainly a strong and dangerous combina on. Dakota Hateley drives the base line hard, shoots with accuracy and gets her hands to any missed shots giving her team a second look. She teams up with Lacey Haines who has had a stellar season, taking out the 17's league Best and Fairest, the Junior Consistency award, joint winner of the Under 21 award, and also making the Senior Team of the Year. Lacey is an accurate and dominate goalie who possesses both a acking and defence skills crea ng countess turnovers. Jasmyne Bellinger has had a great season in the middle, she is a fit, hard-worker, reliable and feeds her goalies with precision. In defence
for the Eagles, Rosie Ne le is a small, but agile and speedy defender. She is gutsy and determined and a natural on court leader. She teams well with Elly Redden who has also had a great season. Kalangadoo also have a wealth of talent and experience on court. They have a versa le team that can play a variety of posi ons, allowing them to match up how they see fit against different opposi ons. Their goalie combina on of Shelby Ryan and Kori Collins is incredibly strong, crea ve and accurate. Sophie Wrightson is strong through the middle for the Magpies, she has had an outstanding season, finishing up joint runner up in the league Best and Fairest. She has incredible drive through the middle and intercepts from one end of the court to the other and also feeds into the circle beau fully. In defence for the Magpies could be Emily Mulraney and Holly Watson, these girls have developed into a dynamic defensive duo, ge ng hands to loose balls and crea ng many turnovers for their team. The teams have only met once this year and it was Hatherleigh that took the win by 7 goals. That was way back in Round 6 and both teams would have improved and grown since then. Should be a fantas c game. B Reserve HATHERLEIGH v KALANGADOO In the B Reserve, we see Hatherleigh take on Kalangadoo. Hatherleigh finished on top of the ladder, a whisker ahead of Kalangadoo. Hatherleigh have a good mix of experience and youth in their team this year. Staci Faulkner is a very determined player for them and brings a wealth of netball knowledge. She has been consistent and can play in the midcourt or defence. Di Loveday has grown in confidence this season and is an accurate goalie who never gives up. She teams well with Indi Marshall playing her first senior year of netball. She is a tall and accurate goalie. Karen Bowman has missed some me with injury but has been a posi ve influence since her return. Fee Jackman is another player for the Eagles who brings a lot of experience, a strong defender and rebounder who can run all day and has a great never say die a tude. Kalangadoo won their only encounter earlier this year with a 24 goal win. Since then they lost Abby Hartland with a season ending injury. Abby was a handy, tall defender for the Magpies. Lisa Ilsley has come into the team to cover this posi on. Kalangadoo boast a very strong goalie combina on - Rhianna May and Jodi Greenwood. Rhianna was awarded the league’s Best and Fairest award, polling 19 votes. Both May and Greenwood are accurate goalies and hold well in the circle. Bianca Thorne and Imogene Ryan are strong for the Magpies through the middle, Thorne leads by example and is capable of very mely intercepts. Ryan is a quiet achiever, her passing into the circle is a feature of her game. Deb Mulligan will be another stand out for Kalangadoo. She always gives 100% and has had a fantas c season. This will be a great spectacle. B Grade KALANGADOO v GLENCOE In the B Grade this week we see Kalangadoo take on Glencoe. The teams met just 2 weeks ago and it was Kalangadoo that came away with a 9 goal win. Kalangadoo’s goalies in Gina Gogel and Isobel Giddings were important players in their match against Glencoe and they will be relied upon again to get the job done against a tough Glencoe defence. Through the middle for Kalangadoo will be Jessica Blackmore and Jolie Crowhurst, both these players give their all and are strong and reliable with quick hands when feeding their goalies. Nicole Reeves has had an outstanding season for the Magpies, she is incredibly athle c and takes many intercepts with her reach and ability to jump. She teams well with Shanae Neale and Lucy Williams. Both of whom are smart players who read the ball well. Glencoe will see the return of Hayley Greenfield who has missed the last few weeks due to injury. She will be welcomed back into the a ack lineup, alongside Zoe Parham-Hawke and Chloe Watson. Chloe has been in outstanding form all season, taking out the league Best and Fairest award polling 19 votes. Glencoe have plenty of depth in their goal circle, shooters Kayla Medhurst, Abbie Cocks and Bianca Easterbrook all very capable players. Defensively for the Murphies, trio Sam Brierley, Amy Clegge and Sally McDonnell have been great to watch. What they may lack in height, they make up for with their high work rate and ability to read the play. This should be a close encounter, with both teams needing to se le quickly to get the jump. A Reserve KALANGADOO v GLENCOE
The A Reserve 2nd Semi Final sees Kalangadoo taking on Glencoe. Kalangadoo have been the standout team of the compe on all year, taking top spot on the ladder at the comple on of the minor rounds. Kalangadoo have had quite a few players unavailable from me to me and have showed their versa lity with posi onal changes and shown their depth using juniors from me to me. Reanna Wetherill only played half the season before becoming pregnant, Jamie Ryan has only been onboard for the second half of the year due to injury. Anthea Paterson should line up a er having 2 separate injuries. The Magpies would welcome her experience back into the team. Ebony McDiarmid has missed some games due to work commitments but s ll played enough brilliant netball to earn the league Best and Fairest, polling a big 28 votes. Kylie Schultz will be one to watch in defence, years of experience and a tenacious defender, she will keep Glencoe’s goalies earning their goals. She combines well with Shanen Pulkkinen. For Glencoe, they have strong players across the court. Their defence line is a young duo, Tameka Medhurst and Chloe Pfitzner. They have been impressive through the year and present as a danger to opposi on goalies. They are well supported by April Von Duve and Jess Gosden on the circle. Glencoe have a few op ons through the middle. Von Duve, Gosden and also Alyce Finnis and Candice Albrecht. Gosden is strong for the Murphies and is a great on court leader, providing encouragement and direc on for her team. In goals for Glencoe is Malinda Markiewicz who brings a lot of knowledge and finals experience to the team. She teams well with Max Watson and also Taitlyn Rothe who has had a fantas c season. When the teams have met through the season, it's been Kalangadoo with the wins. The most recent encounter saw Kalangadoo get up by only 3 goals. Should be a great match! A Grade KALANGADOO v HATHERLEIGH In our top grade this week, we see Kalangadoo take on Hatherleigh. Kalangadoo have been amazing all season and finished the season on top of the ladder, undefeated. Hatherleigh recruited well in the off season and have a good mix of experience and youth in their team. When the teams met earlier in the season, it was Kalangadoo that got up by just 4 goals. Everyone was excited for a re-match in round 2, but Covid put a halt on that. Kalangadoo have a world of finals experience within their team. Their goalie combina on of Melissa Russell and Abbey Duncan have been fantas c all season, both girls making the 2021 MSENA Team of the Year. Melissa's determina on and leadership is invaluable for the Magpies, while Abbey is such a hard worker and effec ve play maker. Through the middle they have a few op ons, coach Jayde Peacock has had another brilliant season while Jane Auld is an unassuming player with a terrific work rate in offence and defence. The Magpies defence line of Chloe Pra , Mikaila Pi and Chelsea Croser have been nothing short of brilliant. The pressure this trio pack on is second to none. Kalangadoo are also well supported by their talented juniors in the club, Kori Collins and Sophie Wrightson. For Hatherleigh, their goalie combina on is strong. Keston Green returned to the game this year a er a couple of years off, she has enjoyed her netball and her knowledge and experience will prove invaluable on Saturday. She teams well with youngster Lacey Haines who has had an incredible season. She is a speedy and accurate goalie who also works hard on her defensive game. Tegan Merre made the move from Pt Mac to Hatherleigh this year and took on the co-coaching role. Tegan is a speedy mid-courter who covers a lot of ground and brings experience and posi vity to the court. Sarah Faulkner is a another that brings a wealth of knowledge to the Eagles, she has had a consistent season and will call on her experience to keep the ship steady. Their defence line in young Lara McGregor, Maddie Pulmer, Sarah Broadhead and Maddie Redman are all incredibly talented netballers with a mix of speed, experience, strong and smart netball between them. Chelsea Galpin also made a late start to the season due to pregnancy and has made a posi ve impact to the team since her return. Junior Rosie Ne le is a talented back up for the Eagles, while she has had a bad run with injury, she has shown great maturity when she has taken to the court, using her speed to her advantage in the mid-court. I think everyone is excited to watch this game on Saturday, so many fantas c match ups, experience and up and coming talent. Accuracy will be important to the outcome of this game. We can't wait to see who progresses straight through to the big dance and who will take on the Tigers in the Preliminary Final!

first semi-final match REVIEWs 13 & Under NANGWARRY v MOUNT BURR A er an even first quarter Mt Burr were by far the be er team for the remainder of the game, slowing ge ng on top of Nangwarry and increasing their lead to 7 by half me. Kiara Ephia had a great game playing a half at centre and then moving to GD to try and curb the influence of Mount Burr’s GA Tilly Gamble. Kiara got many intercep ons and created valuable turnovers to give her team many scoring opportuni es. Kaylee McNair also worked hard at GK for the Saints, rebounding missed opportuni es. Skye Virtanen at GA for the Saints had a great tussle with the Burr’s GD Sara Smith. Skye had a great game, scoring the majority of her team's goals. She was backed by Madison Timms at GS for the Saints who held well but was put under good pressure by Kali Linnell at GK for the Mozzies. Mt Burr’s Tilly Gamble at GA played a great game, taking lots of intercep ons for her team and shoo ng with accuracy. She combined well with Holly Lowndes in the goal circle. Mt Burr played hard defence, turning the ball over many mes and taking strong rebounds under the ring. By 3 quarter me, their lead had extended to 10. Gamble had a terrific last quarter, shoo ng 7 from 8, helping her side to a 13 goal win and helping them advance through to the preliminary final. 15 & Under KALANGADOO v PORT MACDONNELL In the 1st match of the day, the Port MacDonnell girls came out strong taking an early four goal lead, before dropping off and giving Kalangadoo the opportunity to come into the game and take control of the court. Kalangadoo re-grouped to improve their unforced error tally, forcing the Port MacDonnell team to make the errors and become unse led. They applied a huge amount of pressure on the Demon girls, par cularly at the Bay’s centre passes, giving them limited opportuni es to get the ball into their a ack line. Tegan Lythgo at GA for the Magpies was in sensa onal form, keeping the Demon defenders Bridie McPherson and Brooklyn Jones guessing with her slick moves and finishing off with extremely high accuracy. Sophie Lewis and Chloe Peacock ran out the centre posi on the whole game crea ng a great contest, both causing turnovers for their teams. Chloe was instrumental in the court play for Kalangadoo, earning best player and proving vital for her team. Lara Wilson worked hard in the goal circle for Port MacDonnell crea ng space and shoo ng accurately for the Bay. Magpie defenders Georgia Gen le and Ebony Wurst worked hard for their team to shut down the Demons a ack. Brooklyn Jones at GK for the Bay earned herself best player and fought hard in the goal circle to shut the goal shooter out of play as much as possible. Overall, Kalangadoo u lised all the players on the court to transi on the ball down the court, taking away the win for their team. Unfortunately Port MacDonnell became ra led and couldn't regroup to fight for their spot in the finals. Kalangadoo winners by 24 goals. 17 & Under MOUNT BURR v ROBE A er facing a tough loss to Robe in the final round of the home and away season, Mount Burr entered the first quarter firing, scoring the first 9 goals for the game. Maddie Gamble and McKenzie Bevan caused havoc in the defensive end for Robe goalies Maddie Wirth and Sienna Brooks. Robe soon se led and found some consistency in the line-up, driven through the leadership and tenacity of Ella Mackey in the C. The first quarter finished with Mount Burr leading 18-3. Robe entered the second quarter eager to cut back the lead with Ella Mackey moving back to GK, Billie Carter into the C,
Adelle Birchall to WD, and Hayley Wylie coming on at WA. Mount Burr remained unchanged. Robe defender Maisie Hayes came into the game, taking several intercepts and proving her strength as a rebounder under the post. Amelia Ballantyne and Kelsi Sharp li ed for Mount Burr, ensuring accurate feeds into goalies to reduce the impact of the Robe defenders. Mount Burr again held the lead heading into half me 28-8. Mount Burr made some changes to their midcourt bringing Mae Johnston and MacKenzie Job into the game while Robe again changed up majority of their line-up in an a empt to slow the transi on and fight of Mount Burr. Mount Burr’s midcourt proved to be unphased by the changes with both players making a smooth transi on into the game. Robe’s goalies found some consistency in the third for their highest scoring quarter for the game but Mount Burr again proved hard to stop. Third quarter saw the scoreline 43-17. The final quarter Robe again made some adjustments with Maisie Hayes going into GD and Hayley Wylie into the C. Despite the Roosters persistent fight and never give up a tude, Mount Burr con nued to build their lead, finding some good form as they progressed easily through to the preliminary final. Mount Burr won the game 57-24. Best players were Ella Mackey and Maisie Hayes for Robe, and Maddie Gamble and Amelia Ballantyne for Mount Burr. B Reserve GLENCOE v PORT MACDONNELL Both teams started strongly with an evenly matched first quarter but Glencoe jumped ahead late in the term, finishing the first quarter with a 14 goal lead to 8. Glencoe's goalies stepped up in the second quarter, with Bri Liebich and Lauren Kenny playing some crea ve netball in goals and shoo ng with good accuracy. Glencoe surged ahead to be 27-16 up at the main break. Port Mac made a change bringing on junior Lara Wilson into GS trying to reduce the lead but Glencoe were too strong across the court. Port Mac out-scored Glencoe by 3 goals in the final quarter but the lead was too great and Port Mac weren't able to close the gap. Both teams fought hard un l the end but Glencoe's shoo ng accuracy and ght defensive pressure allowed them to come away with the win and progress to the preliminary final. B Grade TANTANOOLA v HATHERLEIGH Both teams star ng strongly with the game going goal for goal. Tantanoola took in a 1 goal lead at quarter me. The second quarter was again quite even. Tiger goalies Bec Millowick and Nicole Rutkowski were shoo ng well, only missing a few for the quarter, while Hatherleigh’s goalies found it harder to convert. Both teams scored 9 for the quarter, giving Tant s ll the slender lead of 1 goal at the main break. The 3rd quarter saw Tantanoola pick up the intensity, Kath Taylor playing a crucial role at WA for the Tigers. Tant’s goalies were on song, piling on 15 goals to Hatherleigh’s 6. Nicole Thomas con nued to work hard for the Eagles, first in a ack and then switching to WD pu ng on as much pressure as she could. Jess Bowman worked relessly in GD as well for Hatherleigh but wasn't able to curb the influence of Millowick and Rutkowski. In the fourth quarter Hatherleigh tried to pull the score back with changes but the pressure from Tant saw them pull away further, finishing strongly with a 17 goal win to advance to the prelim final. A Reserve TANTANOOLA v PORT MACDONNELL Both teams started out strongly with Port Mac coming away with 6 goal lead at quarter me. Tantanoola regrouped and came into the 2nd
quarter with strong leads from Emma Rathjen and Alana Fensom, allowing them some more entries into a ack. Port Mac’s defensive pressure from Belinda O'Dine, Holly Smith, Isabelle Sneath and Montanna Millard made sure Port Mac where able to secure turnovers and bring the ball down into a ack. Megan Hein and Keyarnah Smith were shoo ng well, with Hein able to rebound any missed shots. They were made to earn their goals with Tantanoola's defence, Georgia Clark and Kelsey Widdison working over me and ge ng their hands to quite a few balls. Tantanoola's Kristy Varcoe (WD) and Narelle Lewis (WA) had a ght tussle all game. Coming into the final quarter Port Mac had a 15 goal lead, both teams were ge ng red and scrappy, and the wind was a also a factor in the goal circles. Tantanoola's Lauren Fensom and Estella Serle shot well, ensuring every goal was scored. Cody Manning finished off the game in the middle for Pt Mac with strong leads to ensure their lead by 20 goals to see them advance to the preliminary final. A Grade MOUNT BURR v TANTANOOLA The A Grade match started off quite a physical encounter with neither team prepared to give an inch. Both teams goalies got their nerves out of their system quickly and were shoo ng with accuracy. Emma Gould started strongly at GS for the Tigers, holding well and finishing off with great footwork and shoo ng. Gould just had Mt Burr GK Madi Hagge in height, but both were figh ng for rebounds like there was no tomorrow. Down the a acking end for Mt Burr, Sarah Nulty was prominent, her speed and agility crea ng plays in the circle, finished off with good shoo ng by her and Ebony Clark. Mount Burr went into the quarter me break, leading by the slimmest of margins, 11-10. Mount Burr appeared to step up the tempo in the second quarter, Nulty con nued to be a problem for Kate Bromley, and Mount Burr’s defensive pressure also increased forcing Tantanoola to make some errors. Gould con nued to be strong for them in the circle, while Heidi Clark was doing an impressive job on Jami Walker, not allowing her into the game, with Gould doing the majority of the shoo ng. In the later part of the second quarter, Tantanoola picked up their intensity with Vic Lucas coming into the game and gaining some crucial turnovers for the Tigers. A ght game at half me, Mt Burr leading by two, 25-23. At the start of the third quarter, Mt Burr again started strong and forced Tantanoola into errors. Mount Burr’s Ava SmithMuhovics and Laura Schultz were pa ent around the ring, o en faking passes in to keep Bromley and Tayla Rowe guessing. Ebony Clark was holding well and ge ng plenty of the ball. Late in the 3rd quarter there was a momentum swing and the Tigers scored 4 quick, unanswered goals. Tayla Rowe was ge ng her hands to any balls within reach as well as rebounding strongly. The game was all ed up at 3 quarter me, 35-35. No team made any changes throughout the first 3 quarters. At the start of the 4th quarter, the wind was star ng to play a bit of havoc in the goal circle, Mt Burr’s goalies missing some crucial goals which Tantanoola capitalised on. Gould was prominent from the start of the quarter and the Tigers started to get on top. Jami Walker came into the game shoo ng 8 goals without a miss for the quarter. About halfway through the last quarter, the Burr’s Heidi Clark called me and came off, succumbing to a knee injury. Heidi Eldridge replaced Clark and tried to get into the game which proved difficult with the momentum well and truly with the Tigers. Tantanoola piled on 18 goals in the last quarter, while the Burr only managed 8. The Tigers victorious by 9 goals in the end. A great game by both sides.

club notes
hatherleigh fooTball club notes A Grade: We took on Robe in the First Semi at Mount Burr. We got off to a good start by applying enormous pressure. We won the contested ball and moved the ball well into our forward 50. We had a handy 3 goal lead at the first break. Robe li ed in the next two quarters and through good ball movement they wrestled the momentum back, we went into the last quarter being down by 3 goals. Our boys dug deep, brought the pressure back and
ran hard working for each other and linking up to end up running over the top and coming away with a gutsy win. Jake Dowdy (3 goals) and Sam Telfer (2) led the goal scoring while Jordy Galpin and Jack Skeer had big games on the wing and in the middle while also hi ng the scoreboard. Jase Faulkner was solid down back and had a huge last quarter willing us over the line. We look forward to a week off, then playing in the Preliminary Final. Go Eagles!
robe football club notes Junior Colts: The minor round has finished and we couldn’t wait to get our finals campaign underway. There was a different feeling around the town last week with players and supporters having the finals feeling and everyone had great op mism of what the next few weeks could look like for the Robe Football Club. Us Junior Colts finished in third posi on which meant we were to play Glencoe in an elimina on final at Mount Burr. We were rapt with the posi on we had got ourselves into and couldn’t wait to get the finals started for the Roosters. We had a really good week on the training track and were ready for whatever our opposi on threw at us. To their credit they came out firing with their key players playing good roles. In the opening quarter we started really well and had all the momentum, costly turnovers and silly mistakes in front of goals meant we only took a three point lead at the first change despite having most of the play. The next quarter was much be er, we were able to gain control once again but we also controlled our nerves be er than the opposi on which meant we looked more likely when we had possession. The third quarter was all Glencoe, they kicked two goals to our none and if it wasn’t for
our backline led by one of our youngest players Vinnie Moore we would have been looking down the barrel of a few goal deficit. It was all square at 3 quarter me. As predicted the game opened right up in the last with it being a shoot out to determine who would progress to the next final. Lucky for us our midfield li ed and when it was there to be won our leaders stepped right up. Cooper and Mason were good building the wall and not le ng too much get out of our forward half once it got there and Kaiden kicked a pre y miraculous goal to put us in front. The last two minutes I don’t think I have ever been so nervous in my life with the ball going back and forth between ends teetering on goal lines and inside 50s. The siren went just as Brodie kicked his first for the day and we were victors by 9 points. We were really excited to extend our season and kick the finals off in the right direc on for the club. Thanks for all the supporters ge ng up early to come and watch, the noise definitely gave the boys a li . Bad luck to the other two Robe teams compe ng on the day but also best of luck to the Senior Colts and B Grade football who look to secure their spots in the Grand Final with a win this weekend.
club notes
kongorong fooTball club notes Not the results we had hoped for in the Senior Colts last week. A good show of support on the sidelines which was great to see. Senior Colts: The year came to a close for us last weekend at the Burr, with the boys going down to Tant unfortunately. Thanks to joint coaches Mick Waters and Paul Ellis for stepping up this year and helping out. Shane Bellinger for the reless job of team manager. Trainers Madge and Cozzi for keeping all the players going. Thanks to the support of the junior commi ee over the year and the Kongorong Football Club. James Allen had a consistent 4 quarters and really applied himself all day to give us a target on the lead. Like a small rover when the ball was on the ground, he was in the contest, and received the Ma hews Petroleum Award for his efforts. The Janeway Concre ng Award went to Riley McConachie. His efforts to run all day and springboard off half back were endless, like he has consistently done all year. Joel McConachie took out the MT Wheels Award for efforts around the ball and efforts across half back cu ng off entries and up forward trying to win the ball. Brodie Von StankeDowie received the Badenochs Deli Award for his role up forward early where when the ball come forward he was in everything, and then played down back also, to help cut off their forward entries and played great also. 5th best was the ever reliable 'General' Declan Wright. He was hardly beaten all day in the contest and clearly played be er than his forward counterpart, which was a great effort considering how much the ball spent me in
their forward line. Spot On Fishing award went to Maverick Cooper. We would have been lost without this kid in the engine room. He constantly was in every contest, applying himself and winning the ball for those on the outside and giving us many forward entries. It's been great to be a part of the lads learning this year, and I wish them well in their future at the club. Beardy Congratula ons to Tyler Richardson on ge ng Runner-up B&F on 31 votes, and leading goal kicker with 50 goals in the Junior Colts at last week's League Medal Count. Mav Cooper also polling well in the Senior Colts, to finish equal third. In the Reserves football Jack Mullan won the leading goal kicker, and also polled very well in the count to finish equal third on 10 votes, two behind the winner. Seniors saw both Ma Cordy and Ma Weistra make the team of the year on the interchange, and Aaron Lightbody equal winner of the Klas Bilt Best Backman Award. John Simkin was awarded League Life Membership a er playing his 250th A Grade game v Port Mac two weeks ago. Congratula ons Simmo. Congratula ons also to Brianna Fuller on receiving the Runner-up Trophy for the A Reserve netball. Next week we host the Preliminary Final so if you haven't put your name down for a job, please get in touch with the football or netball commi ees to offer your services, many hands make light work. Good luck to the Junior Colts team today, we wish you all the best!
