MESSAGE FROM THE CLERK OF THE COURSE
Welcome to the Teagle Excavations ARB Pines Enduro 400. The ARB Australian Off Road Racing Championship rolls into Millicent for another year and once again the racing at the previous events has been intense for outright and class results, and we expect the weekends event to be no different with championships on the line!
The Millicent Sand Buggy Club has been the host here in the Mt Burr forest for nearly 50 years and the unique atmosphere of the Pines is something that needs to be experienced firsthand with the adrenaline rush it provides the competing crews always has them coming back for more.
With the permission and assistance from The Wattle Range Council, OneFortyOne Plantations and Forestry SA the long course track for Sunday’s main race is set through council roads, sandy hills, slippery dirt and fast flowing pine breaks providing a very challenging ,yet satisfying course for all types of vehicles. Six laps of the approximate 62 kilometre forest track and just over 400 racing kilometres makes this one of the premier endurance events in the country.
Based in Millicent with a long standing affinity at the Pines Enduro, Teagle Excavations generously support the event and is the major reason that we are able to showcase the world of Off Road Racing in the brilliant arena here at Teagle’s Quarry. Along with ARB, Hards Transport Services and the list of local and interstate sponsors ,the continued support ensures the ongoing success of the event.
Behind every great event there are endless hours of work and the committee that pull all of it together need to be commended for their effort. The Pines Enduro event is run by volunteers for a love of the sport we all enjoy ,so thank you to everyone that has taken on a role this year.
Finally to everyone of you who have come to this year’s Teagle Excavations ARB Pines Enduro 400. Whether it be a sponsor, race team, spectator, media, catering or for many other reasons, Thank you for supporting the Millicent Sand Buggy Club and I hope you enjoy the local hospitality and immerse yourself in this amazing weekend of off road racing at the 2024 Pines Enduro.
Yours in racing,
Mark Heemskerk, Clerk of Course

THE EVENT HISTORY
The Pines Enduro is an off-road racing event that has a rich history dating back to 1978.
1978: The Pines Enduro was established by Bruce Clayson, who negotiated with the Woods and Forests Department to secure an area in the Tantanoola Forest Reserve for the event. In its inaugural year, only 15 buggies competed on a 15km course.
Over the years, the event grew in popularity, with the number of participating vehicles steadily increasing. This included a variety of vehicles such as 4WDs, VW Bajas, and sedans. To accommodate the growing number of participants and minimise damage to the forest, the track was extended to 35km.
1982: The Millicent Off-Road Car Club was established to take over the organization of the event. Local sponsors also increased the value of the trophies to attract competitors from South Australia and Victoria.
1986: The event was run by the Millicent Sand Buggy Club as part of the South Australian Off-Road Championship.
2002: To celebrate the 25th anniversary of the event, a prologue was introduced to determine class starting positions, which was conducted at Teagle’s Quarry.
2003: The Pines Enduro became a part of the Australian Off-Road Championship while still being a part of the SA Off-Road Championship.
2013: The event organisers joined the newly formed ARB Off Road Racing Series, consisting of four well-organised and supported events across Australia. The series focused on promoting a safe, fair, and enjoyable family-friendly racing environment with transparency and professionalism as its core values.
2017: The Millicent Sand Buggy Club celebrated the 40th annual running of the Pines Enduro. It also saw the inclusion of the short course racing and big screen entertainment.
The Pines Enduro has continued to be part of the ARB Australian Off Road Racing Championship, attracting good entry numbers and providing competitors with a cost-effective and enjoyable off-road racing experience.
The Millicent Sand Buggy Club takes pride in successfully hosting the Pines Enduro event for close to 50 years, showcasing its enduring legacy in the offroad racing community.
MAJOR SPONSOR
Teagle Excavations has been involved with the Pines Enduro since the event's beginning. In 1999, they took on the role of the major sponsor, signifying their commitment to supporting the event.
Teagle Excavations has gone above and beyond by donating their time, equipment, and the use of their quarry for the event. This support allows the Pines Enduro to take place by providing essential resources and facilities for the race. The company invests countless hours in preparing the quarry for three days of racing. This preparation is crucial to ensure the safety and functionality of the event.
Geoff Teagle, a life member of the Millicent Sand Buggy Club, has been instrumental in restoring the forest tracks used for the Pines Enduro. His expertise and the use of graders have helped maintain the racecourse since the very first event.
Geoff Teagle has not only supported the event but has also actively participated in it. He has competed in many Pines Enduro events over the years. His involvement as a racer showcases his passion for off-road racing. Geoff Teagle shared his passion for off-road racing with his son, Shawn. They famously ran the "Angry Emu" Ford Falcon Ute, featuring the crowdfavourite "Tip" the dog mounted in the back. This unique addition added character to their racing vehicle.
Kurt Stephan, the General Manager of Teagle Excavations, is also a motorsport enthusiast. He actively participates in the Pines Enduro and races in Class 1 with buggy #133. His involvement reflects the continued commitment to the event and the sport.
Teagle Excavations' long-standing sponsorship, contributions, and active participation in the Pines Enduro demonstrate their deep connection to the event and their dedication to the local off-road racing community. Their support has undoubtedly played a significant role in the success and continuity of this iconic off-road racing event.

SATURDAY
HARDS TRANSPORT PROLOGUE
The action-packed Hards Transport Prologue kicks off at 10am. During this exciting segment, competitors will tackle a timed lap on a short track. This timed lap will play a crucial role in determining the start order for the Short Course Racing, adding an element of strategy and skill to the competition.
As a special highlight, the competitor who records the quickest lap during the prologue will be honoured and presented by Raceline Australia.
SHORT COURSE RACING
In this thrilling phase of the event, competitors will be organised into heats based on their prologue times. This ensures a fair and competitive lineup, with racers of similar skill levels going head-to-head.
Each group will then embark on an intense challenge, completing four timed laps of the short course track. Every second counts, as this time is factored into their overall race time.
What makes this race even more exciting is that the time over the four laps recorded by each competitor for the Short Course Racing will play a pivotal role in determining their starting position for Sunday's long course race. It's all about pushing the limits!
SUNDAY
The excitement kicks off at Teagle's Quarry at 8:30 am sharp. Competitors will line up for the ultimate challenge, and the start order will be determined by their outright position at the conclusion of the short course. This ensures that the fastest competitors are positioned at the back, creating a thrilling race dynamic.
The main race is an endurance spectacle, covering an impressive total distance of approximately 390 kilometres. This grueling test of skill and endurance unfolds as competitors set off two by two, with 1-minute interval between starts. The race consists of 6 laps on a challenging 66-kilometre course weaving through the captivating pine forest.
After completing the first two laps, a well-deserved 30-minute break awaits competitors, offering them the chance to recharge and gear up for the next two laps and following this, another 30-minute pause allows everyone to prepare for the race's thrilling conclusion.
