Junior Colts: Last week we headed to play Mount Burr, with a very slow start and the Burr coming out strong kicking the first 2 goals, the kids never gave up as we kicked our first. It was a tough bale with the Burr using the ball a lot beer in the first half. With some posive words at the half me the kids came out very strong and started using the ball a lot beer and playing as a team. Best players were Charlie Bromley, Jayden Hunter, Summer Batchelor, Harvey Vanderheul, Jack Rowe and Asher O'Loughlin

who came up from under 11's and kicked his first goal.

Senior Colts: Last week we headed to the Burr to play on a quality team sing comfortably in the top 4 with us being short having 11 players we were lucky enough that the Burr lent us some players. Most of the game was all the same with Burr dominang all areas of the ground. We had some good passages of play in the second half leading to us scoring some goals. Best players were Braydn Hateley, Brayden Rowe, Sam Simmons, and Ryan Long. Goal kickers were Braydn Hateley 2, Ash Foulds and Ryan Long 1.

Reserves: Best players in the B Grade were Ma Nelson, Chris McCallum, Jake Bromley, Chance Mitchell, Nathan Bell and Liam Ousey.

A Grade: Last week at Mt Burr the first half was a fairly even contest, we kept up with the Burr and had some really good passages of play. The 3rd was an excellent quarter, we dominated for most of the quarter coming together nicely as a team. We went into the last with a 20 point lead. Unfortunately for us a couple things didn't go our way and we ran out of legs and the Burr kicked away. But the effort the boys showed was great to see and to put ourselves in a situaon like that the boys should be proud and have their heads held high. Best players Cade Kelly, Jordy Ha, Troy Ha, Ethan Bowman, Brayden Rowe and Corey Baker

A Grade: Coming out against Robe we knew it was going to be a tough challenge being 1 verse 2 on the ladder. Credit to Robe, they came out firing with them having a 3 goal to our 0 in the first 10 mins of the game. We started slow and this showed at the main half me break being down by 2 goals. The second half of the game we had the ball on our terms and started playing the skilful footy we know we can play. A really good team effort all round with us finishing off the game with a 6 goal win. The win against Robe guaranteed us top spot on the ladder which will set us up for a good finals series. Well done boys. Best players on the day were Mitch Pulmer, Max Telfer, Brad Mitchell, Paddy Chay and Jack Gray.

B Grade: Well what can I say, prey disappoinng result against a very very slick Robe ouit, probably one of the beer reserves sides you'll see geng around. We lost all our tall mber to the A Grade due to injuries but your only as good as the side you put out there, disappoinng day for the lads going down by 54 points aer a slow start and showed some fight in the last half. Fair few things we need to work through before finals me, hopefully we will get some numbers back from injury also. Captain Ray led from the front all day, Wao, Kneeno, Dylan Vanderhorst and Jimmy Telford rounded out the best.

Senior Colts: Second to last round saw us playing Robe at home. The boys responded well from last round’s loss and had a really good team orientated game which I was proud of. They ended up winning by 74 points which was really good to see. Everyone got involved and done their part. Best players were

hard to give out but 5th best the Pete Walter's award went to Eli Sims. The 4th best the ladies commiee award went to Archie Morgan. 3rd best the Ginos Pizza award went to Coaden Taylor 2nd best the Stumpy award went to Aussie Nele. 1st best the Dentons SportsPower award went to Jordy Acky again playing a great game. In a sad day for the club it was good the boys rallied around each other and enjoyed a good team win. Onto the last game in Tant!

Junior Colts: We hosted Robe last week in damp condions aer some much welcome rain during the week. Robe got the jump on us and kept a lead up for the first half. It was pleasing to see the boys turn it around in the second half. They stuck to the task and finally started to gain some confidence aer hing the scoreboard. Aer a seesawing fight final quarter we were able to eventually take the chocolates in a close one. Will Dower worked hard all day on the ball and did the hard team things to lead by example. Reef Chambers was clean around the stoppages & contested ball and drove the ball forward on plenty of occasions. Thomas Lowe got plenty of touches on the forward flank and pushed us well into the forward 50. Harris McGrath had his best game of the year in the back pocket. Alex Sutherland kept us in it early with mulple goals and was clean with hands in the forward 50. It was a real team effort to knuckle down and have a hard fought win coming into finals. Finally, condolences to the Bateman family on the tragic loss of Dale. Our thoughts go to them as they go through this tough me. On to Tantanoola this week to round out the minor season before finals get underway

Congratulaons to Isaac Mulraney playing his 50th A Grade game and to Patrick Mitchell who plays his 100th A Grade game today.

Under 11: Thanks to Pt Mac who lent us a few, at mes the game was prey congested but all who played enjoyed it immensely. Aer significant rain the oval was terrific, a lile chilly but that doesn't dampen the kid's enthusiasm, great game kids.

Junior Colts: Coming up against a top 2 team we wanted to compete with them like we did in the first round. The first half was pleasing, we competed and put pressure on the Bay. Unfortunately, we ran out of legs again and fell away in the second half against a good side and lost by 73 points. Best was Hamish having a seriously good season, Sam, Alejandro connuing to improve, Harley and Hunter rounded out the best. We take on Mount Burr this week hoping to come away with a win to finish the season.

Senior Colts: A do or die clash to determine the posions in the top 4, trying to secure a top two finish. A hot first quarter with both teams trying to wrestle momentum we let the opposion score a couple easy goals, scores remained level at the break. Kade stepped up and kicked a couple in the second, the third term Pay kicked a ripper goal

then Port Mac took control and kicked the next 3. Defence stood tall and repelled several entries, they handled the pressure well. The last quarter we fought back and ran away with a 17-point win which locks in a top two finish. We take on Mount Burr this week in another big game. Kade kicked three and Sam two. Best players were hard to pick but well done to Digby, Lachy, Declan, Pay, Bailey and Sam.

Reserves: An experienced line up taking to the field, sll a few changes Saturday morning but that's been the theme all year. Two tall targets up forward led the way. Dane kicking 5 and real credit to Anthony who was up and about, kicking a couple and assisng in others. We ran our 25 point winners in perfect football condions. Best was Jacob against his old mob, Ben, Jason, Dylan 'Glue Pot' and Darcy

Seniors: Coming into the game we wanted to compete with a good Port Mac team, to do this we needed a four quarter effort. We competed with them for three quarters with the second quarter ulmately being the difference between the two teams, going down by 50 points. Our accountability across the ground needs to improve but we did play a lot beer than we have in previous weeks. Best was Dylan, Ma, Zacc, Henry, Patrick and Will.

Looking forward to hosng Mount Burr this week, see you at the footy.

Junior Colts: That was easily the best game I have seen the team play since I started coaching. It was a real team effort with everyone liing. Every single player could've been in the best. Eli connued to show potenal with his relentless aack at the ball. Sydnee played a great first game, she stuck her head over the ball and did the team things well. The leaders in Reed, Jackson and Moystn all played unreal even if different posions and roles. The star of the day however was Hunter In a career best game he was everywhere and tackled everyone. He even managed to go back and slot a goal. It was a really good showing and displayed how much this young side has improved so much. Looking forward to our last game.

Senior Colts: Senior colts boys had a convincing win against a undermanned Tantanoola team. A great display of team work throughout the day with some of the work they’ve been doing on the training track evident in the game. Thanks to the boys that helped out the Tant lads on the day

B Grade: Aer a difficult few weeks at selecon it was nice to get a few players back and field a stronger team against Tant at home. Aer winning the toss and kicking with a breeze a 2.6 quarter looked okay on the scoreboard, but we felt we wasted too much footy going forward and missed some opportunies to kick goals. The next 2 quarters saw us play some of our strongest footy for the year We won the ball at the contest, used our pace and hit

targets by foot. In the last term with a big lead it was great to give some different players a chance to play in different posions, with Myles Widdison kicking his first 2 goals for the club. Best players on the day were Brad Sco who worked hard all game and kicked the ball superbly, Ed Ballantyne, Tommy Hales, Liam Whiy, Kody Bowering, Ben Ballantyne and Brock Sandow. One game to go for the season and hopefully we can finish on a posive note.

A Grade: We set ourselves some goals and unfortunately didn’t achieve them. Right from the start we were super disappoinng with our intensity and want to defend. This connued right through unl ten minutes into the last quarter when we finally decided to roll up our sleeves and create a contest! Our pressure is something we normally pride ourselves on, but was well below par. We had our fair share of the ball but just could not execute going inside 50. Something we have been working on but just haven’t quite mastered. Ten to fieen minutes of ok football and we end up winning the game. It was nowhere near perfect but a wins a win.

football club notes

Hard to believe that this was our second to last home and away game for season 2024. In perfect condions we ventured south to take on Kongorong on their home deck and good results followed for 3 out of the 4 grades as work towards the major rounds connue for our footballers. Was hard to believe that once again the sun was out and a perfect day for footy with a touch of spring sunshine there was quality football played throughout the day. Thanks goes to our Junior Game Day Sponsors Autocare Mt Gambier, Rarcoola Structural, The Rocks Shop, MT Wheels & 3MP as game day sponsors and weekly award sponsors in – The Roadhouse, Country Atude, Spot On, Bunnings, Aussie Disposals, Sorrentos, OK Pie Shop, KD’s Deli, Intersport, Doughnut King, Wendy’s, McDonalds, Compton Street Bakers Delight & Boost Juice and Killara Food Court sponsoring our weekly Junior Club Encouragement award.

Under 11: Boxy had a chance to set the players loose against the young Hawks and that they did. The young future superstars put on a footy clinic and just showed to everyone that the future is bright and there are some real quality footballers coming through even at this young age. A huge thank you to our game day awards sponsors in Wendys, McDonalds, Doughnut King, Compton Street & Killara Food Court with the awards being shared around amongst the group. A big credit to Boxy and his team of helpers throughout 2024 as I’m sure everyone appreciates the reless effort you put in for our junior players.

Junior Colts: The Junior Colts connued their good run through the second half of the season with a resounding 62-point win over an undersized Kongorong ouit. If it wasn’t for some inaccurate kicking it would have been a greater margin for the young Maggies. Macca has the young colts playing some quality football and with a chance for a top 2 spot its going to be game on as we take on the Saints in the last round. Best players went to Lachy – Spot On, Jack –Bunnings, Natalia – OK Pie Shop, Preston – Bakers Delight, Preston –Coaches Award and Isaac & CalebKillara Food Court encouragement award.

Senior Colts: Second to last game of the year for our colts and credit to the Kongorong lads who came across and played and to Banjo & Tom from Hatherleigh coming for a run around. Plenty of space to run and carry and as we have done all year fought hard and

even matched them in the second half with a few goals of our own. The boys have shown up all year and special menon to Nate, Axe & Jack who have persevered in tough condions. Well done lads. Best players went to Lachy –Roadhouse, Jack – Country Atude, Nato – KD’s Deli, Axe – Aussie Disposals & Nathaniel – Killara Food Court Encouragement award.

Reserves: With the constant player shuffle connuing for Auldy the B’s were looking to get back on the winners list as they take on a plucky Hawks on their home deck. The scoreboard at the end of the 1st half looked closer than what the game was only for inaccurate kicking however the Maggies recfied this in the second half kicking 5 goals to 2 and ending with a 31-point win and holding a spot in the top 4 with only a game against the Saints to go. Best players went to Tommy Jerome, Chrissy, Crutey, Kye, Joonks & Brad.

Seniors: In what was perfect condions for footy, Lynsey had one of his more seled sides for a while although it took a lile while to sele against a Hawks side who threw everything at the Maggies early in the 1st, although it didn’t take long to get the running game going well led by the midfield to go in at the 1st break with a 17 point margin. We had the beer of the run in the second, dominang a lot of the play around the ground with the back 6 defending and rebounding well, mids geng their fair share of the ball and forwards controlling the air, only for some inaccurate kicking would had a greater lead than the 34 point lead at the main break. The 3rd qtr saw the Maggies get right on top across the ground and really stamp their authority on the ground with the forwards having kicking boots back on managing 6 majors while the backline held the Hawks to the single point and holding a 71-point lead at the final change.

Percentage playing a role come the end of the home & away season, Lynsey wanted the Maggies to finish off strong, but the Hawks defended hard in the last only allowing the 3 last quarter goals while geng 1 of their own and we ended up with a strong 87 point margin to finish the game off Best players went to Sammy, Jack, Tye, Lachy, Heiny & Gregsy.

Aer enjoying the week off with the bye we welcome the Saints to our home deck in the last home & away game for 2024 as we look to finish the season off on a high note for all grades. Make sure hang around the club for teas & presos aer the game.

NANGWARRY SAINTS

3 out of 4 wins, Saturday was a great day for Nangwarry at home. Aer a wet morning, it turned into quite a nice day It is hard to believe that we have 1 game of the minor rounds le, but we can look forward to witnessing some finals football this year with our senior colts who have had a great season.

Nangwarry are hosng the first final so we will need as many hands on deck, please keep an eye out on the Facebook page for rosters. We also have the gates for all 4 finals and we will be seeking volunteers for a few shis.

Saturday night we held our annual aucon, a big thank you to all the players this year who really stepped up and sourced some great items to be auconed off. A shout out to Tristan for organising our auconeer Josh Paul, Josh did a great job making sure we received as much money possible whilst entertaining the crowd, thank you Josh! And finally thank you to all those who aended and purchased items to support the Nangwarry Football and Netball Club moving forward.

Junior Colts: The team played really well against Kongorong with some good passages of play their handball game was the best I've seen all year sharing the ball around to players in beer posions to get the ball moving forward, it was good to see a few players stepping their game up and playing some of their best footy for the year, Best players were Harvey, Josh, Jimmy, and Jordan. This week we have a bit of a challenge against Kalangadoo but if we play our game and don't let them get a jump on us it should be a good contest.

Senior Colts: The senior colts returned to the winners list again last Saturday in a hard fought game of footy against Kongorong. Kicking with the wind we got off to a solid start kicking the first 2 goals of the game and held a 14 point lead at half me. Aer adding 4 goals in the third quarter Nangwarry eventually ran out winners by 22 points in an entertaining game of football, Nangwarry 9.5 to Kongorong 6.1. Goal kickers for Nangwarry were Elwood Geary 5 goals keeping his solid goal kicking form going in both 17s and A Grade, and singles to Harry Hicks, Calais Borman, Tayte Virtanen and also Jack Norman who kicked his first goal for Nangwarry Award winners were Jack Norman, Rhys Grigg, Archer Virtanen and Ollie Capewell for a great game at full back Nangwarry canteen awards, Elwood Geary BP Dohnts award and Harry Hicks Ok Pie Shop. Other beer players were Calais Borman Limestone Coast Pantry award and Toby Grigg. This week we look forward to finishing the home and away season against Kalangadoo.

confident we could get the win, especially aer our last few weeks of footy we were building each week and it showed last weekend. We had a slow start to the game having been 4 goals down at qtr. me but credit to the playing group, they managed to slowly claw back the 4 goals and make it a good contest. Once we started playing the game on our terms it really showed over the last half of the game and we took home the 4 points, awesome effort from the team, very proud of everyone involved on Saturday

A Grade: Weird to think that we ran out onto our home ground for the last me in 2024. We had plenty of the footy in the first quarter but didn't do the damage on the scoreboard. We had the advantage of kicking with the wind but were inaccurate kicking 1.5 to only hold onto a small margin at the first break. Kongorong certainly turned up to play and played with vigour and enthusiasm. They kept that pressure in the second quarter and although we were one man down them thoroughly deserved their 29 point lead at the main break. At half me we highlighted areas for improvement in parcular decisions under pressure and fundamental skill areas. To the boys credit they responded and clawed their way back into the game. This is a very good sign for our football club moving forward. We used the ball much beer and were more accurate kicking 5.3 and geng us back within 2 points at the last break. The last quarter was a see sawing affair and remained a close contest to keep everyone on the edge of their seats. We had our chances but to Kongorong's credit they dug in right to the end and walked away with a 4 point victory. Despite the loss we sll had some good that came out from the game. We connue to be buoyed by the composure of our young senior colts each week to stand up in pressure moments at A Grade level. Harry, Bay, Elwood, Archer and Calais all had an impact and were influenal in geng us back in the game. Highlighng an excing era ahead for the Nangwarry FC. We had solid 4 quarter performers on the day that won their posions. Best players being awarded - 1. Ty Dinnison - Club Tea for 2 (We are all awaing the mystery +1....); 2. Joel Virtanen - Prince of Wales Hotel; 3. Elwood Geary - Pines Hotel; 4. Lennox Lewis - The Spud Train; 5. Josh Weedon - Muffin Break; 6. Archer Virtanen - Limestone Coast Pantry. Goal kickers Elwood Geary 4, Archer Virtanen 2, Joel Virtanen 1, Logan Gibbs 1, Lennox Lewis 1, Bay McKinnon 1. This week sees our final game for season 2024. We venture to our neighbouring opponents in Kalangadoo and again we very much are looking forward to the contest.

football club notes

Another amazing day as we made our way to Nangwarry. Another game day that showcased our juniors who connue to give it their all in seniors, and we thank them all for their efforts. Excellent to get another A Grade win! On behalf of the club we are incredibly proud of the work you are doing on and off the field.

Under 11: This week we would like to take the me to thank everyone who helps to make it possible for our team to run. The parents for bringing the boys to trainings and game day each week. The junior commiee for all that you do behind the scenes to make it possible for us have a club. Ange for the weekly photos, what a beauful gesture you offer for families to have these photos available of such cherished moments. Peter for offering your me to umpire our matches each week. Thank you for your commitment it’s truly appreciated by all. Thank you also to our volunteers for running the water for the boys each week, goal umpiring etc it’s all the lile things that add up to make our weeks run smoothly. Thank you Amy for all your hard work and dedicaon behind the scenes planning out each week for us, ensuring the boys have freshly washed jerseys each week and set out in the change rooms Saturday mornings so the boys have a nice lile organised space to ensure they have a stress free start to their day. A massive shout out to all our sponsors, words cannot express how grateful we are for your generosity it really is a vital part of keeping our club running. Finally thank you to Rob and Roscoe and their wonderful helpers at trainings and game days. You give so much of your me to ensure our children are given the best opportunies possible to grow and develop their skills. You have taught and modelled excellent club culture within the team this certainly shows both on and off the field amongst the boys. We thank you for all your me week in and week out both on the field and behind the scenes without you our games each week wouldn’t be possible. As a last note good luck to our boys who will be moving up to under 14 next year we wish you the best of luck. Looking forward to seeing all our current U11s and our new faces joining us for season 2025. Go Hawks! Last week’s best players against Nangwarry were Mac (Intersport), Oscar (Presidents Award), Mason (Coaches Award), Coby (Club Voucher), Nash (Brant Family Award), Hudson (Donut King).

Junior Colts: The Junior Colts haven't won too many games this year, but they have always tried their best, and that's all a coach can ask for. It wasn't a great start leng Nangwarry kick 5 goals in the first quarter. Then, the kids fought back with pressure and lots of tackles, only allowing Nangwarry to kick 5 goals for the rest of the game. The kids just sll need to learn how to move the footy forward so we can score more goals, but that will happen with experience. Thank you to all the volunteers who help out every week, it's very much appreciated. Awards went to Noah von Stanke-Dowie (Lucas Family Award), Angus Maidment (Spot On Fishing), Lyla Bayley (Aussie Disposals), Connor Gordon (Janeway Plumbing), Koby Galloway (Club Voucher) and Ivy Trigg (Paradise Pizza).

Senior Colts: Despite the recent weather, ground condions were great for playing expansive football and with a steady breeze

favouring the northern goal we expected scoring to be much easier at one end. Goals against the breeze were going to be a premium and our inability to hit the scoreboard in the 1st and 3rd despite having a number of inside 50 entries proved to be the difference. Our boys played a game of 2 halves with the first half resembling more of a mini colts game with clusters of players forming around the ball and down the line. Our ball movement lacked energy and we weren’t prepared to create space or try and move the ball off the line. Facing a 5 goal deficit at three quarter me I was confident that the margin wasn’t beyond our group and was extremely proud of the football they played in the last to push Nangwarry right to the end. Value awards went to Jobe Janeway (MT Wheels), Blake Telford (Mahew’s Petroleum), Bryce von Stanke-Dowie (Mick Mullan Plumbing), Mahew Aarts (DA’Leni Meats), Ryan O’Donnell (Coaches Award) and Judd Cordy (Badenochs Deli).

B Grade: Aer some heavy rain the last couple of days it was a great me to play on the best draining oval in the league. With captain Simmo winning the toss and kicking with the wind, the first quarter had us ulising the wind and kicking out to a strong lead. Shak was presenng strongly and kicked a monster goal. The second quarter was quite disappoinng with our inability to control the ball when in possession and lack of desire to chase. This let Nangas back into the game and at half me it was anyone’s game to win. Our work rate in the 3rd quarter wasn’t up to scratch again and we let the Saints control the ball. We unfortunately lost coach Plugger to a heavy tackle that saw him seeing stars. The game was sll up for grabs in the last quarter but unfortunately we ran out of legs and finished second. Best players were Cohen Janeway (Commercial Hotel) who has hit a patch of form in the last month, Blake Telford (BCF) who gave his all aer playing colts, John Simkin (Collins Court Butcher), Mick Waters (Club Voucher), Deshawn (Club Voucher) and Wayne Awill (Pick Ave Deli) with 4 goals. Thanks once again to the colts for helping out. The improvement in these young guys throughout the year will help in the years to come. Now to finish off the year against the Bay and onto the truck to support the A’s.

A Grade: The boys had a great first half. They held Nangwarry accountable against the breeze, then when it was our turn kicking with the wind, Lukey Mac was able to put pen to paper and hit the scoreboard. The mids were geng there hands on it and Ethan Norman cung everything he could off down back. Aer half me, our dredded 3rd quarter struck again, leng Nangwarry back in the game but thankfully had the breeze in the last quarter to finish off with. Jobe Janeway dominang the ruck, unfortunately our mids couldn't get onto the end of a few and made it harder than it had to be, and with a very seemingly long last quarter we were able to get over the line by the skin on our teeth. We look forward to playing the Bay at home & finishing on a high for the last game of the year. Awards went to Ethan Norman (Commercial Hotel), Elliot Modra (Collins Court Butchers), Luke McIntyre (BCF), Ryan Lucas (Club Tea), Joel Maconachie (Pick Ave Deli) and Jobe Janeway (Club Tea). Go Hawks!

PORT MACDONNELL DEMONS

A Grade: Pt MacDonnell 17.12 def Glencoe 9.10. This Saturday is a milestone Saturday. Not only do we need to cement our place in the top 4 and a shot at the Brass Ring but it is the 250th game of a true, dyed-inthe-wool, heart beats true for the red & the blue Bay boy Zack Williams. Congratulaons Zack on reaching this pinnacle milestone (played mostly in A Grade) as you join others in a select group. You have put a lot into the game, not only as a player, but also as a quintessenal club man and leader, always helping whether it be in the bar, the BBQ, the gate, the commiees both social and footy, clean-ups, finals, rep teams and all with a cheeky smile and good humour. It is fair to say, that clubs are built on community minded people like you and your family, and all of these are the backbone of our “Family League”. Looking at the Glencoe game, it was a consistent effort across the board for the lads, and evenly matched but by scking to the game plan and each doing their share the boys took the win which will keep us in finals touch. Another stellar game from Will Macdonald won him the BOG, with Colby Munro placing 2nd. Je Aard gained a lot of movement over the forward lines and midfield earning him 3rd and Ned Wilke in 4th connued the pressure from the back line. Tim Sullivan earned 5th with his consistent rucking ethic and Jake Schleter rounds out the BP list with his efforts on the flanks pushing the ball forward at every opportunity. Goals were scored by Will Macdonald with 8, Je Aard 4, Chrisan Howle 2, Alex Ridding, Ned Wilke and Ma Stark 1 each. Thanks to all my coaching staff, team manager, the trainers, the runners, waterboys and boundary umpires, mekeepers and goal umpires who without their support, Saturdays just don’t funcon properly… but remember… the season is not over yet lads, and a loss could bring everything unstuck... so train hard to play hard! Go Demons.

B Grade: Pt MacDonnell 6.6 lost to Glencoe 10.7. Well, here we are! Last game of the season this Saturday and I can’t really write about last week because I wasn’t there (cough, cough… bloody flu!) That said, there

are a number of thank you’s that need to be made. First and foremost thank you to Ben McGregor and Kyall McClean for taking on the enormous task of B Grade coaching. It takes a good deal of unwavering enthusiasm and love for the club to try and put a side on the ground each Saturday, especially when some are not so inclined to train... or anque! Secondly, to Georgia Seidel for pung her hand up as Team Manager and actually keeping the paper trail not only legible but in league order! You are the keeper of things, the go between for all and den mother to some (of all the jobs, yours is the hardest! I’ve been there and done that!) To the trainers, Tracey, Vicki, Nikki and crew, who diligently kept the boys on their feet, taped and rubbed, despite their age and more or less ready to play!... you are miracle workers! (For some it doesn’t maer how much tape you use!) For the Runners and Goal Umpires who have volunteered and those that turned up on the day to be roped in! The boundaries and waterboys / girls / people… thank you for connuing on, having already played a game, especially the water! You were a lifeline most games as it was hot out there most Saturdays despite it being a winter sport! From all accounts it was an even game against the Murphies despite the scoreboard and according to the stats we did beer than last me. Rising star, Archie New, scored the BOG, with veteran Baz O’Dine 2nd. I can imagine both were instrumental in play through the centre and forward lines. Aidan Thomson (this season’s most improved, I feel!) garnered 3rd with his epic goal (wish I’d seen that!) and connuous play in the forward line while Lachlan Ray, Ben Newton and Je Lewis were 4th, 5th and 6th respecvely. Goalkickers included Ben Newton 2, Ben McGregor 1, Lachlan Ray 1, Je Lewis 1 and Aidan (Did you see that Ma?) Thomson also an epic 1st goal! (in footy… ever!) The SOS medal is close this year and will depend enrely on the Kongorong game for an outcome… so take me to pracce boys!… besides it couldn’t hurt to turn up one last me to training? You may not be geng a pancake breakfast this year, but we will let you eat cake! See you next season…Go Demons!

PAIGE HICKS

kongorong netball club

Last Saturday saw Paige Hicks play her 50th game for the Kongorong Netball Club.

Paige started playing with Kongorong in 2021 in the Under 17s. She received joint runner up B&F in 2022 followed by runner up B&F in 2023 in the Under 17s team.

This is Paige's first season in a senior grade. Personally our team has loved having Paige as a developing senior straight out of juniors. She was instantly met with high expectaons within the compeve bunch of women and connuously risen to

tilah buckingham

Tilah Buckingham started as playing coach of the A Grade at Kongorong part way through season 2021. She has connued in that same role for the last three seasons, winning runner up best and fairest in 2022 and also co-coaching the U17's last year with her sister Riley

From the first moment Tilah arrived at Kongorong she has had a posive impact on the netball club. Her netball knowledge and understanding of the game has contributed to our A Grade improving dramacally every year. She has a passion for both juniors

the occasion and performed at a high standard every week.

As a player, Paige brings agility and speed with her clean style of play and is best ulised within the mid court. Paige has been given a lot of guidance from senior aack players and it has been really pleasing to see her demonstrate those skills on court every week while watching them grow. Paige has become so cohesive on court within our team.

We value Paige so much and we hope you have many more games at Kongorong to come!

and seniors of our netball club to improve and succeed. This is evident more so this year as she has taken on the roles of coaching U13's, assistant coach of A Reserve and coaching A Grade. Her impact on the juniors at our club, parcularly this year, giving up her me by aending junior trainings and providing praccal and invaluable netball knowledge has been over and above what an A Grade coach has ever given.

Congratulaons Tilah and we hope you will call us home for many more years to come.

I have had the privilege of coaching Harmoni in the last 2 season and I’m very proud of all of her efforts this year, especially asking for

TANTANOOLA

NETball club notes

Junior 2: Everyone brought their A game. Playing against a taller side is never easy, but you all showed height doesn't always maer. You showed strong defensive pressure and made their aack line work hard to score their goals! Everyone played on their toes & fought hard to chase up the loose balls. Going forward, we need to remember our outside arm when defending & strong passes down the court, we seemed to forget some of our most basic skill! But we have one more game le and I'm sure you're all going to come out more pumped than ever! Let's make it a fun, strong last game. Best players went to Lacey Peters - you may not enjoy defending, but you're quick on your toes and shut your opponent out of the game perfectly. Sophie Dunford - you're becoming a stronger player every week, you found your space and had some excellent drives.

Junior 1: A great game from all 9 girls. We started super strong in the first half capitalising on our turnovers, perfect ming & playing in front all the way down court. Excellent movement & accuracy from our shoong duo as always. The second half we mixed it up with our posions & we sll connued to play great netball. This all comes down to the basics of staying in our lanes, being aware of each other on court & playing in front. But what I love is you all play as a team. Awards went to Lacey for her connuous effort in defence & to Daisy for her exceponal accuracy as GS. Last game this Saturday, let's go out, play hard & have fun.

13 & Under: Last Saturday against the Burr we were hopeful for a compeve game aer a really strong team game the week prior. It was a bit wet & slippery & during our warm up we had trouble holding onto the ball. Despite this the first quarter ended with only 1 goal the difference. Second quarter our passing & crowding let us down & from here even though we had another even third quarter & worked hard, we could not get back into the game. Stella (Fasta Pasta) made strong leads in WA & when she moved to WD as always put lots of pressure on her player, Liv (Fasta Pasta) is playing some great netball contesng the ball, ming & leading well. Emie (McDonalds) had some great intercepons, reading the play

15 & Under: A lile slow out of the box in this game but once we switched on, momentum rolled with us. Alice, with her exceponal work rate and good accuracy was again best on court. She needed her team mates to be available and in the right posion for this to happen and they obliged! Our defence applied enough pressure to get important intercepons and deflecons and it was pleasing to see less turnovers through mid court. So many of our players connuing to improve their skills and court awareness - a great sign for the future. Fasta Pasta and Devine gis awards to Lexi, Rachael and Tamika.

out there giving all they had. Demi, Kailah, Bethan and Hailey worked hard for every possession and used their speed to aack the ball. Molly (KFC award) read the play well and took some impressive intercepts and also had a solid quarter in goals. Poppy (Fasta Pasta award) had a ripper game in goals and C providing a lot of aacking play down court but also played a strong defensive game. Kaitlyn and Isla worked relessly all game in defence and fought hard for any loose ball. Bad luck girls. Let's come out firing for our last game!

B Reserve: Start the season with ten players and reduced to seven this game - at least everyone got good court me! It was also a chance to give players a game in a new posion and they were all impressive in their roles. Kath and Sally were our best, remaining calm and consistent all day, just ahead of Leah (yes most people did see “it” Leah) and Holly (going from strength to strength) in the aack line. Chloe (very ght in the circle and making opponents work hard with impressive blocking) and Lauren (some hidden defensive skills coming to the fore at WD) allowed Amy to pick off some nice intercepons. Awards were Gino's Pizza & Pasta and Devine Gis.

NETball club notes hatherleigh

Junior 2: A solid team effort girls! Everyone had high hands over the ball, chased down the loose balls and backed each other. We combined well all the way down the court, changing direcon, passing to the space and working it closely into the ring. We shot with great technique and finished off with high accuracy. Awards: HLC - Indi Haines, Hadlie Green, Pippa Holland, Lacey Kovacs and Addison Lowe & Beggs, bean & bar - Luca Bateman.

Junior 1: An awesome team game by all 10 girls on Saturday! Everyone worked hard on there given job and took advice to benefit there games. Our mid court worked on steadying the ball to wait for the correct opons and this definitely opened up our court to create a flow Goalies all worked together beaufully and used a lot of skills and movements to get to shoong range. Defence aacked the ball hard all day long creang countless turnovers for our team. Awards: Georgina Hassell - Beggs Bean & Bar, Maggie Mathews - Chemist King, Poppy BoweringHLC.

the game we know how to play. Melita and Grace worked consistently all game, found space and shot with confidence. Ellen and Fi worked hard in defence making the circle their own and geng her hands to many taps which created in turnovers. Nic switched it on through the midcourt and created the fluency down to our goalies. Amy delivered great passes into our goalies, Ella worked hard in GD, Keely gave good drives to the top of the circle. Maddie chased up loose balls and fought hard for possession and Demi worked hard geng out for our centre passes. Thanks to Linda for primary carer, Zoe for scoring and Kellie for ming. Awards Grace - Sassi, Melita - HS&R.

B Grade: Last week we played Mt Burr and man it was an interesng game. Last me we played them we had no shooters and it was a mixed team. This me we had our shooters which was good but they had also improved a lot and they match up well against us. However super proud of my girls for staying posive, playing our game and not giving up. This was proved by geng the win! Good job girls! Let's keep up the good work. 17 & Under:

13 & Under: A great game for our girls and awesome display of great team work. Our defensive pressure was strong and we chased up loose balls and made some wonderful intercepts throughout the day Each and every one of you played your part and most of you used your voice to keep encouraging each other. We did throw away a few passes so need to remember to steady and choose the correct pass to our fellow team mates. Hazel used her voice posively both on and off the court earning her the lollies kindly provided by Em. Mollie worked well in the circle, taking on board all we had worked on at training and had a good run out at GA earning her the Since Fiy Six award. Paige's defensive pressure and commitment to listening and taking on board feedback earnt her the HLC award. Well done again girls. Let's keep working hard at trainings and not be afraid to have a go at the ball, change direcon and be confident in what each of you bring to the table.

A Reserve: The Tigers were on the road last weekend against Mt Burr The game was very scrappy with numerous turnovers from both sides. The Tigers managed to sele and keep a small lead at all the breaks. The defensive efforts from Dakota, Lucy, Eva and Sophie were a major headache for the Mozzies aack line. Coming into the final quarter the Tigers were able to put the foot down and push the margin out to 9. Definitely wasn't one of our best games, but very glad to come away with the win. Best: Lucy BarberSomerset Hotel, Ebony CytrowskiHeaven on a Hanger

A Grade: Unfortunately, a slow first quarter put us behind from the start. It was pleasing to see us push back during the game in patches giving us opportunies to change the result, but to Mt Burr's credit they remained paent. Our circle defence in Bella and Kate Bromley (New Heaven) worked hard making their opponents readjust. We did have some great transion from one end to the other which was pleasing, with Shelby (Hanger on a Hanger) providing a different dynamic through the mid court. Many thanks to Tam and Jane for scoring and Maryanne for managing dues during the season. Your help along with all our other volunteers who me, umpire and bench for us doesn't go unnoced.

15 & Under: Not the win that we were aer, but a huge turn around from the result in round 1. We were determined from the start, willing to chase loose balls and using voice right down the court. We used our dodges and direcon changes to break free from opponents, trying to keep off the body. Luca and Sylvie are combining beaufully in goals, looking for each other but also rolling off to clear the space. Sienna has really found her feet in defence, using her fantasc reach to consistently deflect and rebound balls under the post. Olivia, Tilly and Zoe applied pressure, making it hard for Robe to get it to easy shoong posion. Once again Livvi and Alirah stepped into the mid court seamlessly, and controlled the ball under pressure right to the end. In the end, the score could have gone either way, and we should be proud of the contest we created. Luca Hamilton - HLC, Tilly ProuseSportspower

17 & Under: A much beer game from the girls saw them come away with a good solid win. The flow through the mid court was much beer and everyone upped the defensive pressure. Amber fed some lovely balls into the circle and our goalies converted. Bella had a consistent game at keeper and pulled in some nice rebounds. Overall a solid team effort with everyone playing their role. Mitre 10 award Amber, HLC award Bella.

B Reserve: Wasn’t our best start to the game girls but we managed to come out on top. A few errors in the first quarter seen us make it hard for ourselves and find our feet. We struggled to find fluency down the court and we weren’t leading to the ball. In saying that a few changes were made, our goalies seled and we found

B Grade: It was a fast paced game which saw quick ball movement from both teams and strong contesng for the ball from all players. Marnie shone at the last line of defence, her impressive reach disrupng numerous aempts from Robe. Maddie’s return was impacul, with her relentless running and crucial intercepts making a difference. Georgia’s versality was evident as she contributed significantly in both defence and aack, while Sarah’s relentless drive out of defence and precise posioning on the circle resulted in mulple deflecons. Ali and Kaz demonstrated stamina and a high work rate throughout, applying consistent pressure, driving and posioning strongly and feeding the circle effecvely. In aack, Ellie, Eliza, and Liv combined seamlessly, with Ellie’s dynamic movement, Liv’s reliable rebounds, and Eliza’s long-range shots contribung to a high-scoring game. The accurate conversions from all kept the scoreboard cking at a rapid pace. As the game progressed, the voice on court was evident in providing direcon and helping to maintain intensity. As we head into the finals, it’s crucial we sustain this high level of play, ensuring consistent effort throughout each quarter and maintaining the quality netball we are capable of. A super team effort and a great win. Well done girls. Huge thanks as always to Raels for scoring and Nat for PC and ming. Awards - Marnie (Mitre 10), Kaz (Hath Sport & Rec), Maddie (Somerset) and Liv (Fasta Pasta).

A Reserve: Another tough game against Robe, but we came out with a welldeserved win, 39 to 36. The first quarter saw us going head to head with Robe, and we made a few early posional changes to find the right combinaon that would give us the flow we needed. It was fantasc to have Millie Smith back on the court, joining Lucy Corman and Maddie Redman in defence. They applied strong pressure throughout the game, coming up with some crucial intercepts that kept the scoreline close. Rosie Nele was an absolute powerhouse, driving hard down the court and delivering great feeds into our goal circle. Abby Wight and Imogen Nowak moved well in the circle, making the most of the opportunies and working effecvely together. Despite Robe pung up a solid fight, we managed to pull ahead in the final moments and secure the win. It was a strong team effort, and every player played a role in the win. Well done girls. Thanks to Ciarne, Sarah and Lily who helped out with dues. Best players Rosie Nele and Abby Wight.

A Grade: We stepped up the intensity and came out firing, showing good paence in aack. Dem rebounded strongly under the post while Lars and Chels got their hands on plenty of intercepts. Erin and Niah showed great vision into Elly and Bree who combined well in the goal circle and finished off with accuracy. We stood up strongly, working for hard for every ball. Let's keep backing each other, chasing down everything - don't want for it to be someone else's job. Awards: HSR drinksBree Harris & Lara MacGregor

NETball club notes

We wish Madeline Watson all the best today as she plays her 100th Senior game for the club. Congratulaons Max! Junior 2: What a great effort girls! The day started off quite wet, windy and cold, as it normally does, however, that didn't stop everyone from having a go! It took us a lile while to get into a rhythm at the start but by the second quarter we were working as a team and really focusing on coming in front of our players, passing out in front and making the right decisions with our passes. It was very excing to finish the game off with a goal from Savannah! Best players went to Malda for a ripper game back on the wings aer a few weeks off, Ruby for her intercepts and drive in defence and Savannah for connuing to drive in front and make opons all game. I can't believe we only have one game le, let's make it a great one!

Junior 1: What a great game to watch and beauful weather to play in! Everyone had such a great game, and you all listened and adjusted your play brilliantly. Aackers were amazing, switching from aack to defence quickly, which created a lot of turnovers and lots of shots at goals. Defence also worked hard all game with lots of touches, chasing the ball and intercepts. Encouragement went to Billy for listening all game and changing the way you play/lead which worked great in the aack end. Best went to Charloe, with lots of touches/intercepts all game and you worked hard all every quarter Great game by everyone, can't believe we only have 1 game le!

13 & Under: Glencoe 34 defeated Port MacDonnell 26. We got away with the win and fought the game out well although we didn't play our best netball. The court was congested, and we put a lot of our team under pressure with our passing instead of steadying the ball as it came down the court which lead to a lot of passing errors and turnovers. To our credit we fought hard all game and came away with the win. Mia played another ght checking game at WD and picked off a lot off intercepts and got best player (Key 2 Sale) and Emma played a consistent game in the goal circle earning her the best player and the encouragement award (Kaboom). Let's work really hard this week as get closer to the finals.

15 & Under: Glencoe 38 lost to Port MacDonnell 51. Bad luck girls, everyone put in 100 percent and didn't stop right ll the end. A tough game but sll posives to take from it. Bella worked hard and put plenty of pressure on her opponents earning her best player Second went to Ella who drove hard and moved well in the circle. Encouragement went to Violet who used her speed and found plenty of space in the goal ring. Let's re-set and go again this week.

17 & Under: Glencoe 37 lost to Port MacDonnell 67. We knew it was going to be a tough hard game but to our credit we never gave up. We tried some new posion to see if we could mix things up and well done to those girls for giving their all in new spots. We had some good passages of play which look great from the sideline. Best players: Shae Tweddle, Alyssa Medhurst, Mckayla Maney

B Reserve: Glencoe 27 lost to Port

MacDonnell 57. We knew it was going to be a tough game against the top side on their home court! We started well, focusing on playing our own game, sensible passes and coming in front. We came undone with a few passes going awry and having trouble keeping up with the fast ball movement of the opposion. There was some really good examples of play and the girls put into pracce what was asked of them, however Port Mac got a run on and the score blew out. Unfortunately, we lacked the intensity and energy we needed to keep up. Best player was Caitlyn. Congrats to Maddy Bignell on her senior debut and thank you to Shae for coming on at C.

B Grade: Glencoe 37 lost to Port MacDonnell 51. Bad luck girls. We put it all out on the line but with a couple of players missing and injured we couldn't quite get there. We came out strong in the first quarter and scores were even at the first break. Our intensity faded in the second and third quarters and by the final break we let the lead slip to 14 goals. We fought back in the last quarter but it wasn't enough to get us over the line. It was great to see that no one dropped their heads and we sll fought hard for the enre game. A few silly errors and excellent pressure from Port Mac really let us down. First best went to Giaan for her pressure and fight in the circle. Second best went to Alyssa for her strong holding and great shoong under pressure. An honourable menon to our midcourt, Gemma, Emma and Kate, who ran hard all day long. Let's come out strong this week and finish our season with one last win!

A Reserve: Glencoe 31 lost to Port MacDonnell 51. Another really tough game last week. The scoreboard really didn't reflect the game. The first half was a real bale, our goals weren't sinking and theirs definitely were. Alannah and Cords worked so hard adding pressure in defence creang turnovers but geng it down the court and scoring proved hard. Chloe was so reliable working relessly to provide leads and geng hands to balls in defence. Sami B going into defence showed her agility and provided us with more opportunies. Our last quarter was our best and if only we played like it all game because it could have been ours. Well done again for never giving up girls!

A Grade: Glencoe 45 defeated Port MacDonnell 41. A bit of a rollercoaster game for us last week. We had some really good patches and then our errors seemed to come all at once, leng our lead slip. We struggled at mes to chose the safe opon and put each other under a bit of pressure. It was pleasing to see everyone be strong onto the ball and connue to fight out the game in the final quarter when the score got even. Defensively, I think we had a strong game and worked hard on communicaon and having a fly for intercepts. Best player went to Cailn (O'Brien Electrical) who kept us alive in the end with her fantasc rebounding and pressure. Second went to Alice who took some great intercepts and took charge driving out of defence. Let's focus on a strong start to this game and keep pushing from there.

Junior 2: Well done girls, a hard fought game that you should be so proud of. With the courts being slippery and wet, you had to adjust and you did just that. You all played your hearts out which shows how much of a great team you are, caring for each other and not wanng the season to end. The Kaboom award went to Charlie for having strong defensive pressure and for cheering on her teammates. The Fasta Pasta award went to Macy who used her outside arm brilliantly and passed the ball with accuracy. The Kaboom award went to Alaska who is a great leader of the team and who never quits on the defensive end. Well done girls, one more game for the season. Let’s go out and have some fun!

Junior 1: Fantasc team game girls, in our last home game of the season. We worked on our passages of play down the court and hing a target with our passes. All of our goalies combined well with each other and our mid courters and defenders put in connuous effort to turn the ball around and bring it down the court. Thank you Vanessa for ming and Ashlee for umpiring! Awards - Mia (Zambrero), Zoe (Fasta Pasta), Grace (Acky’s), Scarle (Acky’s).

13 & Under: Well done girls, a great job. Lots of changes throughout the game, and everyone did a fantasc job. Our court play was a lot beer and bring the down the court out of defence and into aack. It was great to see our talking on the court to each other has improved, having paence with each other. Keep working hard. Thanks to Laura for scoring, Grace for ming and Caity for umpiring.

15 & Under: There were some great passages of play in our game, we just need to work at it for four consecuve quarters! The shooters shot well, the defence picked up lots of intercepons and the mid courts consistently controlled the play. Best players went to Stella Davis (Kaboom), Courtney Sigston (Subway) and Becky Davis (McDonald’s).

17 & Under: Aer a slow start to the game, you worked as a team to produce a strong win. Having paence and

working on ming of leads through the centre third, will help transion the ball smoothly into aack. Great defensive pressure helped mely intercepons to be taken to give goalies great opportunies to score. Once again you demonstrated the ability to back each other and pick up loose balls. It is important we remember the small things that help our teammates be successful and celebrate when they end in a scoring opportunity. Well done Macy for winning the K&S award, Abbey for the Millicent Chemist and Ashlee Dean the Cafe Melzar award. Thanks Nathan for scoring, Amanda for scoring and Danika for umpiring. As we finish the minor rounds, I would like to thank all of those who have helped with umpiring our games. It is oen a thankless job, but one that is important to be able to play our great game.

B Reserve: Mt Burr 41, Tant 52. We were really compeve, only being beaten by a couple of goals in each of the first three quarters and equal in the final quarter. Was a great game to watch and I feel like we are really beginning to play as a team. Thanks to Holly Lowndes for filling in for us. Awards went to Karen & Zali. Thanks to our sponsors Ignion Fitness, Heaven on a Hanger & Millicent Florist for our awards.

B Grade: Last home game and what another team effort I feel we are playing our best netball for the season. Tant took a seven goal lead going in to half me. We fought hard all game going down by 3 in the final term. We showed that when we are all on and aacking the ball with confidence, we can play strong, compeve netball against a quality side. One more game this week, let’s go out strong and bring home the win. Thanks to Jodie for umpiring, Karen for scoring and Holly for ming. Awards: Heaven on a Hanger - Stacey, Kaboom Bowling - Bri, Muffin Break - Zoe.

A Reserve: Bad luck on Saturday’s game. We started from behind making it a game of catch up. Some missed opportunies with our goals and passing made hard work for ourselves regaining those points back with Tant’s accurate goalies. Defence worked hard and well together geng hands to rebounds when those rare opportunies arose. Some great passages of play and crical intercepons in the third seen us fight back to a one goal chase going into the last. Unfortunately Tant shied a gear and managed to pull away with a 9 goal win. Players awards went to SimoneSomerset Hotel, Maddie - Millicent giware chemist.

A Grade: We came up against a well formed Tant side. We knew we had to come out firing in the first quarter & that is what we did, securing a 5-goal lead at the end of the first quarter. The girls worked incredibly hard on being paent in aack, taking care of the ball, and applying intense pressure all over the court. It was fantasc to see them implement these strategies from training so effecvely throughout the match. We ended the game with a welldeserved win, and I couldn’t be prouder of the girls for their effort and determinaon. Thank you Leah for umpiring, Nicole for scoring & Ava for ming. Awards went to Abbey (Ducky’s Surf) & Olivia (Cafe Melzar).

Junior 2: Mini magpies had another amazing game, at training we worked on cung in front and it was beauful to watch them all doing exactly that! You should all be very proud of your improvements, every single girl out there showed how impressive your netball skills have been growing. Best on court, Olivia and Evie. Let's go out and have the best last game with lots of fun!

Junior 1: Well done to our mini magpies, another amazing performance done. Strong leads were made down the whole court. Our shooters did not miss a beat and kept scoring all the goals they could. Mid court worked extra hard this week and chased up all the loose balls. Our defence worked hard and created nice swaps to adjust to the play. All girls played extremely well and it was very difficult to select best players. Best players Aurora (Coke Award) and Willow (Bakers Delight).

13 & Under: We played Kongrong and decided to try different players in different posions on court which the whole team rose to the challenge and surprised themselves what they could accomplish and adapted to what was expected from them as a team. Milla has improved a lot and has great ability to me her jumps and with her height she gets her hands to a lot of the ball in GK received the Fasta Pasta award. Tekani in GD can read the play very well. Emily has her three feet zoned in and can drive the ball down towards aacking in WD. Zara at centre controls the speed of our game and has the ability to give and go also has a strong arm and the ability to place herself in the right posion all the me and tried a different posion very well received the Mars Bar award. Harper at WA used her quick feet and amazing arm reach in this posion which has improved a lot. Malda at GA can take and land in the most ght spot with amazing balance and confidence, control to land all our shots. Jorja is quick and useful in numerous posions but is very strong and works well in GS received Baker Delight award. Ashley where ever we put her is our pocket rocket, she maybe small but she gives 110 percent every game. We have only one game le, let’s start to push ourselves to dy up silly lile mistakes and rushing some passes to start our main goals for finals girls. We also must say a big thank you to our bench players Zali and Aurara they also received Mars Bar award, we definitely can’t wait to have you both full me in the under 13 next year as both have improved so much. Let’s go girls.

15 & Under: Nice to have some posive energy and come away with a solid win. Zoe and Molly (Kain Construcon award) did a great job defensively to get lots of touches. Ava ran hard through centre and Lucy (Judy Hill award) finished strong in goals, well supported by Kiersten. Emmity did a good job in both aack and defence and connued to work

hard wherever she was placed. Keep pushing yourselves and staying posive as we head towards finals.

17 & Under: Our goal for the game was discipline. Discipline in our decision making, distance, ball pressure, ming etc Watching our warm up I thought this might be a tough goal, but you proved me wrong. Straight away we applied immense pressure and connued to do so for the game. Every player stepped up and played their role. In the last quarter we had some unusual posional changes and found a surprise goalie in Molly and Ellie! Shayden (Kirsty Egan award) and Georgia changed from shoong goals to stopping goals and Maya showed her versality by stepping into C and WA. Ash (kdoo award) was happy to stay in the posion she has cemented as her own and Lucy, Zoe and Kiersten as always fit into our team seamlessly

B Reserve: Very proud of the persistence of the team. We had many new combinaons as a result of player availability and everyone just went along with what us coaches asked of them. Allara, Em and Gem all had a shot in goals and each should be proud of what they provided. It was an unfortunate result for a scrappy game but we can look forward to having our full team together in our last minor round before we hit finals. As always thank you to our juniors for sing bench and giving us some fresh legs. Best players were Emma (Mango award) and Maddi (Emu award).

B Grade: We had a few changes to our line up with a couple of our girls away, which saw us use some new combinaons. We had a scrappy start with many turnovers both ways. We picked up the intensity following the first quarter and were able gain the upper hand. Again we had some great passages of play with exceponal pressure leading to turnovers, however, at mes we found it hard to convert. Let’s regroup and enjoy a well earned break before we head in to finals. Thanks to Ellie and Maddi for filling in! Best players: Ellie Xanthopoulos (Mangos), Emily Mulraney

A Reserve: Another solid team performance. Our transions in aack and defence were strong with Mel and Shayden presenng well and shoong accurately. Defence had a good week geng plenty of rebounds and hands to balls. Let’s keep building. Best players: Reanna Weatherall (Kalangadoo club), Anthea Paerson (Mangos award).

A Grade: A solid team effort with everyone working at a high intensity for all four quarters. Defence were rock solid with Lara and the Georgias being able to apply pressure to force turnovers as well as any rebound that fell our way. Jane and Jayde found great posioning on the circle and fed with paence and precision. Eb was a great target in the goal circle shoong accurately. Well done Magpies.

NETball club notes nangwarry

Junior 2: Firstly, we would like to thank the Kongorong coach and team for being extremely accommodang throughout the whole game. Playing with only 6 girls each to start, it was a hard game with none of the girls geng a break on the bench. We would also like to Mia Moy and Scarle Heron for filling in for us. We are so proud of how far the girls have come throughout the season. It was so hard for us to pick our best players, so we asked the Kongorong coach to pick for us. So best players were Ariella Thomson, Sophie PilvenHill and Amelia Wilson. Well done J2's

13 & Under: Great game by everyone last week, a big turnaround on our previous game. Much beer driving and meeng the ball. Our movement was great all down the court. Defence turned many balls over and drove well out of defence. Aack worked hard with some good movement and feeding around the circle. Everyone met the ball hard and waited for the right pass great job by all. Penola Recycling went to Izzy for great driving and feeding. Tias Cafe to Darcy for some accurate shoong and movement in the circle and Limestone Coast Pantry to Tahlia for geng some aggression and chasing those loose balls. I'm so proud of where we began to how we have finished, you all were amazing this season and have improved so much. Thanks to all the parents for helping with the dues and to Junior 1 for filling in. Let's finish on a high this week with a win.

15 & Under: A beauful day for our last home game and a great game put in by both teams. The score doesn't reflect the game with great passages of plays by both teams. Nangwarry each week you come out and fight and it's great to see the improvement and determinaon. It was a pleasure to play against you Kongorong and good luck for your last game.

B Reserve: Another beauful day for our last game. Everyone was in high spirits hing the court for the first quarter. Kongorong came out strong from the first whistle and played some great netball. A change in the Nangwarry team in the 2nd quarter gave us a lile more fight with some addional

pressure in the defensive end resulng in more turnovers this quarter for the Saints, but unfortunately could just not convert those turnovers into goals. Kongorong had a fantasc game and were too strong for the Saints. Good luck for your last game next week.

B Grade: Congratulaons ladies on geng our first win for the year. All eight players worked hard and never gave up. Very hard to pick best players as everyone contributed and gave 100% effort. Very happy and enjoyed watching from the sidelines. The last few weeks we have been playing well. Although a very hard game this week let's connue to support each other and improve on score line from last me.

A Reserve: Another tough week, but we keep showing up and giving our all. A big thank you to Sienna who played a solid 4 quarters in our defence, for a 17's you were strong and great to watch. Thank you to Keira who has been sing bench for us most weeks and taking the court when needed. Emily had a great game in defence and was able to capitalise on her great form in the back half of the year. We send love to Krissy who subbed out with a back injury and hopefully you recover quickly

A Grade: Last week's game against Kongorong was tough, and although the score line wasn't what we hoped for, we should be proud of the effort and determinaon we showed on the court. Every single one of you gave it your all, and there were moments of brilliance that reminded us of the incredible potenal this team holds. This has been a challenging season, but we've faced every obstacle head-on, showing up week aer week with resilience and heart. With only one game le in the season, let's take everything we've learned, all the hard work we've put in, and channel it into our final match against Kalangadoo. No maer the outcome, remember that we are an amazing team. We've stuck together through thick and thin, and we've shown that our strength goes beyond the score line. Let's get out there and play with the passion and pride that defines us. We've got this - let's finish strong.

Mt Burr got the first break taking an early lead. Both sides connued to work hard with Tant pegging the lead back to even. Mt Burr connued their strong drive into aack through Laura Schultz (C) from the defensive pressure of Thiele and Olivia Dean to extend their lead. Tant connued to apply pressure with Kate Bromley and Bella Poulish geng hands to the ball in their defensive line to bring back the lead. Casey Walker made an impact for her team picking up loose balls and working hard to be an opon on the circle edge. With the scores demonstrang an even quarter, Mt Burr sll had the lead 25 to 21.

Mt Burr seled quickly in the third, safely delivering the ball safely to their goalies. Pressure was felt from Tant’s side, causing unforced errors and extending Mt Burr’s lead. Mt Burr were paent around the circle, with Shepherd and Hagge using angles and combining well to finish their shots close to the post. Tant brought on youngster, Molly Cushion at WD to stem the flow in the aack line. Mt Burr’s defence forced errors in Tant’s circle by double teaming Gould to minimise their shot selecon under the goal ring. Mt Burr connued to lead, 37-31.

Mt Burr’s second efforts in their aack line aer a turnover, put intense pressure on Tant’s drive out of defence; turning the ball while sll in the aacking centre third. Mt Burr’s defensive pressure in Tant’s aack line through Abbey Falng (WD) and Schultz, allowed Thiele to get hands to balls. Gould connued to be a focal point in Tant’s circle, keeping them in touch on the scoreboard. Mt Burr again had paence down court, using each player, making it a team effort transioning into the goal circle. Tant’s defensive pressure through Poulish and Bromley meant there were opportunies to score. Hatherleigh 48 lost to Robe 56

Hatherleigh and Robe went head-to-head in a game that was intense from the first to last quarter. The teams matched up solidly across the court. Hatherleigh came out strong in the first quarter, quickly establishing a lead. Bree Harris was in sensaonal form, her shoong proving unstoppable as she shot from all over the circle. Paired with Elly Redden, who was dominant in the goal circle with her strong rebounding and holding. Despite this, Robe didn’t make it easy, with Kim Ausn and Emilie Gould applying pressure that kept Hatherleigh working hard for every goal. At the end of the first quarter, Hatherleigh led 15 to Robe 11.

Robe took control in the second quarter outscoring Hatherleigh 17/12. Sarah Laurie and Demi Carter were dominant in their shoong, making it difficult for Hatherleigh's defenders, Demi Vanderhorst and Lara MacGregor, to contain them. Vanderhorst and MacGregor, however, applied defensive pressure and managing to get several crucial touches. The midcourt saw a fierce bale between Annie Reginer and Erin Watson, both players driving their teams forward with steady pace and determinaon. By halime, Robe had overtaken Hatherleigh, leading 28 to 27.

The third quarter was a nail-biter, with both teams baling for every ball. Hatherleigh, unfortunately, missed a few key opportunies, turning what could have been goals into turnovers that Robe quickly

capitalised on. Niah Faulkner for Hatherleigh was strong and had consistent play helping to drive the ball down the court and into aack. Despite this, Robe managed to edge ahead slightly, thanks to their accurate shoong, with Sarah Laurie missing only one goal for the quarter. The score at the end of the third was 42-39 in favour of Robe.

Heading into the final quarter, Robe dug deep, fighng hard to maintain their lead. Hatherleigh connued to push, with both teams pung on a great display of skill. However, it was Robe who managed to pull away, securing the win with a final score of 56 to Hatherleigh’s 49. It was a good tussle in the last, with Robe just fighng for it a bit harder, but overall, it was a great game by both sides.

With only two games le for the 2024 Mid SE netball season, both the Saints and the Hawks were going to work hard for their chance of a win. Nangwarry were the first to score, despite the hard work from the Kongorong defenders Emily Lightbody and Rach Perry. Nangwarry had paence coming out of defence. Kayla Gray taking intercepts and geng any possible rebounds, moving the ball down the court with the help of Jemma Glynn in GD. But the Hawks had the talent and speed of Evie Sealey, opening up space and using her speed to drive well into the circle. Sealey had the help of tall Tiliah Buckingham in at GS, who helped sele the duo in the ring, scoring 10 for the first term. The other end of the court had the Saints using the combinaon of Sheridan Sakkers, using her height and strong hands and young gun Alice Circelli with her speed and drive, scoring 5 between them. Evie Sealey was to exit the game due to blood, bringing on fresh legs of Caitlin Shanks and moving Zara Vonstanke into GA.

The second term brought some changes for both sides. Sealey coming back into the game in GA. The Saints bringing on the rising star Scarle Black into GD, making a strong combinaon with captain and experienced Kayla Gray. Newcomer and skilled goalie, Ebony Wurst came onto the court into GA, helping open up some space in the circle for the Saints. Alice Circelli was also able to open up some space in at WD for the Saints. But the great hands and pressure from the Hawks defence made it hard for the Saints to score. Ebony Lawson in at WD for Kongorong, showed amazing pressure around the circle. Rach Perry and Emily Lightbody were determined and worked hard to get their hands to many rebounds and were pushing themselves to get any possible intercepts. Jasmin McKinnon helped the Hawks bring the ball down the court aer the hard work from their defence. The hard work from the Hawks paid off, scoring 13 for the second term. Despite the effort of Maddi Stephens in at C for the Saints, able to get herself some great intercepts, Nangwarry were kept to 4.

At the main break, it was only the Saints that were to make any changes. Alice Circelli was moved back into the circle, changing Ebony Wurst into C. Taysha Marshall came back into the game in WA and used her voice and experience at centre passes. But Kongorong's defence did well to stop the drive of the Saints. Despite the hard work from Marshall and Wurst, Lawson in at WD, Lightbody and Perry were just too quick with their hands and helped turn the ball over, leading the ball well down the court. Scarle Black and Michelle Richardson were there at the line to help Nangwarry down their scoring end. Sealey and Buckingham created space and used their talents to keep Kongorong scoring, adding 12 to the board. Gray used any opportunity in at GK to get rebounds for the Saints, helping her team get 5 for the quarter. Evie Sealey was once again taken from the court due to blood, giving Zara Vonstanke another chance in goals.

The final term saw changes to both sides. Moving Gray from GK to GS, hoping to use her height in the goal circle, but then later in the quarter being changed back to her dominant role in defence. Maddi Stephens came back into the game at C,

trying to take control of the centre court aer seeing Ebony Lawson from Kongorong having a break from the game. Nangwarry started the quarter strong but had trouble scoring. Rach Perry making sure that the Hawks had the pressure down in defence. Kongorong found the flow and eased the ball down the court, with both Sealey and Buckingham seeming to find their range and their space easily. The young Saints side never gave up, knowing that this would be bringing them close to their last opportunies of playing together for the season. But the Hawks dominated this final term, working overme all over the court and scoring an impressive 19 for the final term. Final scoreNangwarry 18 to Kongorong 54. Best players for Nangwarry - Kayla Gray and Scarle Black, and for Kongorong - Evie Sealey and Emily Lightbody

Port MacDonnell 41 lost to Glencoe 45

Port Mac hosted Glencoe in sunny condions for their last home game of the season. The Murphies took the first centre pass, and despite an early touch from the Bays Kate Faint, the Murphies Alice Tentye was switched on early and earned the ball back for her side, resulng in the first goal going to Glencoe. The first quarter was an even affair, Glencoe’s GS Chantelle Cocks was on early, only missing 3 goals for the first quarter, whilst the Demons goalies Kori Collins and Megan Hein took a lile longer to find their range under the pressure of Glencoe defenders Sarah Edwards and Caitlin Henschke. The midcourt bales were good to watch, the Murphies Donna Jaeschke and Ashlee Pfitzner were working well together, but did not have it easy with the Bays centre Alysha Coon and WD Kate Faint both applying pressure. Down the defensive end for the Bay, Emily Thompson and Alana Berkefeld started well, capitalising on any missed shots from Cocks and Jenna Paproth. With the ball going back and fourth a lot, the first quarter saw the Murphies hold a slender lead of 3 going into the first break, 12-9.

The second quarter saw no changes from either side. Collins and Hein found their range, both only missing two for the quarter. They were well supported by Tentye on the wing, who was having a good game. Berkefeld and Thompson connued to work overme for the Bay but Cocks and Paproths‘ accuracy was a focal point for the Murphies. Coon and Jaeschke were having a good tussle, both with clever passes and quick drives. Glencoe went up gear and extended their lead by 6 going into the main break, 26-20.

The 3rd quarter again saw neither team make changes. The Demons came out firing, Thompson and Berkefeld geng numerous touches for their side helping close the gap.
