preliminary FINAL match PREVIEWS

13 & UNDER

Kalangadoo v Mount Burr

Kalangadoo take on Mount Burr in the 13 & Under Preliminary Final this weekend. Mount Burr are a strong side, with defenders Emily Lowndes and Isabelle Ballantyne applying intense pressure to Kalangadoo's Ebony Reeves and Malda Peacock. Harper Griffiths feeds into the Magpies' goalies with ease and accuracy, well matched by Mount Burr's Hannah Gellion who is able to pick up loose balls and transion them back down the court. Kalangadoo will fight hard in this game and will need to stay strong against the tough Mount Burr side. The Mozzies have come away with convincing wins both mes these teams faced off in the minor rounds and should be able to do it again this weekend to progress to the Grand Final.

15 & UNDER

Port MacDonnell v Glencoe

Port MacDonnell and Glencoe face off at Kalangadoo in the Preliminary Final on Saturday. Port MacDonnell's Ivy Wilson and Bailee Lewis will use their accuracy in the goal circle and will be fed well from outside the circle by Casey McLean and Isla Fullham. Glencoe's Isabella Brierley and Ruby Buckley will apply the pressure in their defensive circle using their height to pull in necessary rebounds. Layla Hawke will lead her team from the centre, using her skill and speed to work the ball down the court, and will combine well with Kloe Phillips outside the defensive circle to put added pressure on Robe's pass into their goalies. Demons' defenders Layla McPherson and Chelsea Fulham will use their ability to read the ball to create turnovers for their team, forcing errors and chasing any loose balls from the Murphy goalies. Port Mac won both mes these teams met previously and have the potenal to do it again, however the Murphies will make it tough for them.

17 & UNDER

Kalangadoo v Hatherleigh

Hatherleigh take on Kalangadoo in the 17 & Under preliminary final. Both of these sides have a wealth of talent with most having a taste of senior netball in 2024. 17 & Under Best & Fairest Shayden Russell at GA for the Pies has had a standout season and at the other end for the Eagles is the runner up best & fairest for this grade Kalli Nele, both

girls are play makers for their respecve sides. Russell is supported well in the circle by Georgia Genle and they will ensure Niah Faulkner and Hannah Bellinger work hard to limit their opportunies. Deni Brown in centre for the Eagles has benefited from senior exposure in 2024 and will guide her team throughout the court. This 17s compeon has been ght all season and this game will go down to the wire with either side capable of taking the win.

B RESERVE

Hatherleigh v Kalangadoo

Hatherleigh will need to bounce back from their Second Semi Final loss and be on top of their game when they come up against Kalangadoo. The Pies have height throughout the court and experienced campaigners in Jodi Greenwood and Nicole Reeves, who can both switch between centre and goals and are supported in the circle by the accurate Maddi Wilkinson. The Eagles tried a few goalie combinaons last week and will need to work this out early in the game. Expect either Nicole Thomas or Ellen Clarke to join Melita Thwaites in the circle. Gemma Box and Deb Mulligan work hard in defence for the Pies and will make the Eagles goalies earn every shot. Keely Jones was solid in centre last week against the Bay and will need to rely on her speed and pace as both Greenwood and Reeves have a height advantage. This game could go either way with a win a piece through the minor rounds.

B GRADE

Hatherleigh v Tantanoola

The last me these sides met Hatherleigh came away with a 46 goal win. The Tigers will throw everything at the Eagles and the result will be ghter than that meeng. Olivia Slaery at GS for Hatherleigh has shown much improvement and her height and presence will fall to Indiana Marshall to curb. Ali McClelland at centre for Hatherleigh has had a stellar season finishing runner up best & fairest in this grade, her experience through the mid court shines through for the full 4 quarters. Her opposing centre Danielle Vanderheul can run all day and will work hard in the mid court. Hatherleigh's height and experience throughout the whole court will see them take the win and have the opportunity to take on Kalangadoo in the grand final.

A RESERVE

Hatherleigh v Port MacDonnell

Hatherleigh and Port MacDonnell face off against each other at Kalangadoo in the Preliminary Final. Hatherleigh's versale goal circle of Abby Wight, Eliza Mewe & Imogen Nowak are able to use their height and accuracy to score throughout the goal circle. Port MacDonnell defenders Shannon Scheidl and Lara Wilson have strong hands and rebound well, both being able to read the play and pick off passes in the defensive end. Demons' youngster Bailee Lewis will need to work hard to shut down Eagle Rosie Nele's drive onto the circle to prevent her accurate feeding into her goalies. Down the other end of the court Narelle Lewis will feed into Brooke Williams and Kelli von Stanke who posion themselves with ease and convert turnovers from their defensive end. Both mes these teams faced off in the minor rounds ended in a draw and this game has the potenal to go into overme with both teams vying for their spot in the Grand Final against Kalangadoo.

A GRADE

In the do or die Prelim Final Kalangadoo take on Tantanoola in what will be a cracker of a match. With both sides coming off an 8-goal loss and an 8 goal win expect this clash to be ght for 4 quarters. Both sides' goalie combinaons have played together for numerous seasons, resulng in a knowledge of each other and their games. Ebony McDiarmid has had a stellar season winning the Associaon A Grade best & fairest, both her and Abbey Duncan are a force to be reckoned with in the circle. Tigers defenders Kate Bromley and Bella Poulish will need to be at their best to limit their opportunies. At the other end of the court the young Magpies defensive end will also need to work hard to curb the influence of Jami Walker & Emma Gould. Mid court players Casey Walker and Jane Auld have had consistent seasons, and their tussle will be one to watch. Kate Varcoe is a creave feeder to her goalies and will need to be nullified if the Magpies are to halt the feed into the circle. Both sides have a wealth of finals experience, and this game will go down to the final whistle with the Tigers throwing everything at this to pull off an upset win.

second SEMI-FINAL MATCH REVIEWS

13 & UNDER

Hatherleigh 60 def Kalangadoo 44

The game started off at high intensity, with both teams coming out strong. Goal for goal, Hatherleigh's Mollie O'Connor and Livvi Faulkner led with paence and accuracy under the high pressure of Te Kani Clark and Jorja McLaughlin, resulng in a slight lead of 2 to Hatherleigh at quarter me. In the next quarter, it was anyone's game, with Kalangadoo's Zara Cole and Malda Peacock working relessly in aack, to get it to Ebony Reeves, a strong target in the goal circle. Leyla Marshall and Kaia Green persisted in their pursuit of circle defence, and at half me Hatherleigh had extended their lead by 1. The third saw a change in posions, with both teams seeking to widen the margin by three quarter me. Ashley Grosvenor worked for Kalangadoo to make strong leads in aack but was placed under pressure by Paige Walters. Milla Lennon entered the court with a statement, providing ght checking defence, but again, with Hatherleigh's accuracy and paence led well by vice-captain Alirah Bowman, they found a break and were up by 12 by three quarter me. Lucy managed a few intercepts, but Melissa Russell's strong twohanded rebounds kept Kalangadoo ahead, finishing the quarter 45-24. Glencoe applied strong defensive pressure in ring forcing rare misses for the Kalangadoo goalies. Chantelle Cocks started to get into the game with accurate shoong. Peacock connued to feed well but the Pies goalers started to struggle with their conversion. The Murphies drove well through the mid court through Donna Jaeschke and Ashlea Pfitzner with Paproth and Cocks finishing off well. A Duncan was having to work overme for Kalangadoo moving around the ring well. Peacock feeding with pinpoint accuracy and Duncan shoong accurately. Glencoe was the stronger this quarter pulling away to a 14 goal lead and earning their way through to the Grand Final. Kalangadoo made a few changes at the break switching Munro to WD and Genle into GD. Cocks and Paproth connued to dominate, shoong with high accuracy. Peacock and A. Duncan connued to work hard in aack for the Pies. Munro at WD took a couple of courageous intercepts for her team for which she was rewarded by her goalies. Genle also seemed to curb some of Paproth's influence and saw Kalangadoo pin back a few goals. The Pies defence connued to work hard but Paproth's experience was working in the Murphies favour Kalangadoo started to transion more smoothly down the court with some great passing and feeding to their goalies. Jaeschke and Auld were having a great tussle through the middle and both played consistently for their respecve teams. Pfitzner for Glencoe stepped up this quarter driving hard onto the ring and feeding well despite the pressure applied by Munro. Genle and G. 13 & Under: A well fought game for our 13&Us securing a well deserved spot in the big dance. They all played with such integrity, grit and determinaon. Going goal for goal in the first half didn't rale the young guns at all. The third quarter saw us shi in to another gear and with confidence we managed to get a more comfortable lead. All the girls worked relessly for the whole game including our cheer squad who were le voiceless. Big thank you to all our helpers and supporters, we couldn't do it without you. One more game to go!

B Reserve: We knew it was not going to be an easy game, with Grace out we had to look at different combinaons in our line up. We started off slow, flat footed and Pt Mac scored a quick four goals in the first few minutes of the game. Ellen started in goals where she gave it her best shot but we missed her presence in our defence line. Demi had a cracker first half playing her best game for the season with direct drives onto the circle, her confidence lied as she used her voice and got out strongly for the centre passes. At qtr me the score sat at 16-8, we did a taccal change bringing Nic into GA, Melita back to GS and Ellen back in to D. We found a bit of momentum but Pt Mac’s shooters dominated the goal circle and scored with ease. At half me Amy came on at WA and created some great passages of play to Leit and like usual Leit shot with confidence and accuracy. Keely had a great tussle all game with her opponent and never gave up and took some great intercepts and added speed through our mid court. Nic went from one end of the court to the other and showed a strong presence up both ends. Ella had her work cut out for her but never gave up and forced Pt Mac to use their feeders to gain possession closer to the post. To our credit we never dropped our heads and kept playing our game of netball. Let’s keep up the posive energy, have a good training this week and feel excited about playing finals and how far we have come. A big thanks again to Sarah Gray for her guidance and support not only on Saturday but at training. Thanks to our ever so reliable Linda for being our PC and a special thanks to Jo Murray for scoring.

B Grade: It was an electrifying top-ofthe-table clash - a classic goal-forgoal encounter for the majority of the game. Our defensive duo, in Marnie and Maddie, were pivotal throughout. They consistently got their hands to crucial balls and applied ght pressure, ensuring Kalangadoo’s aackers found it difficult to sele. Sarah also played a strong defensive game, significantly

liming the opportunies of her opposing player. Ali and Ellie were instrumental in driving the ball through the mid-court; demonstrang great paence and precision in feeding the aack line. Eliza and Liv were exceponal in the shoong circle; Liv displayed strength under the ring for crucial rebounds, while Eliza demonstrated her skill with long-range shots, both players accuracy keeping the scoreboard cking over. A taccal shi in the second quarter saw Maddie move to GD and Marnie to GK. This change had an immediate impact, disrupng Kalangadoo’s rhythm and adding a new dimension to our defensive end. Georgia’s introducon in the third quarter at WD further bolstered the team’s defensive effort, showcasing her strength and agility. In a selfless display of team spirit, co-coach Kaz chose not to take the court. The game was ghtly contested, with Kalangadoo holding a slight two-goal lead at halime. We showed tremendous resilience, connuously pegging back the lead and coming within a goal in the dying stages. Despite our valiant efforts, we were unable to edge in front, ulmately going down by 2 goals. There are numerous posives to take from the match, including the exceponal vocal support on the court and the relentless fight from every player. We can hold our heads high, having delivered a performance full of heart and determinaon. A big thank you to Nat PC and Raels for being the trusty scorer. The best player accolades could easily have been awarded to the enre team, but special menons go to Marnie Jolly and Ali McClealland for their standout performances. Everyone should be proud of their efforts. Bring on next week!

A Reserve: We started well, going just five goals down at quarter me with the score at 14 to 9. Maddie Redman and Millie Smith put in a solid effort in defence, making Kalangadoo’s shooters work for every goal. Rosie Nele and Deni Brown gave us great drive in the midcourt, where their speed really made a difference. In the second quarter, Kalangadoo began to pull away, but we kept fighng. I brought Lucy Corman into defence with Maddie, and they worked well together to apply pressure. Despite their efforts, Kalangadoo kept building their lead, and it became a tough challenge to close the gap. In the final quarter, we made a few changes, bringing Imogen Nowak and Eliza Mewe into the goal circle, but it just wasn’t our day. Though the result didn’t go our way, I’m proud of the team’s effort and resilience. We’ll take this game in stride, learn from it, and bring on this week. Best players Rosie Nele and Deni Brown.

football the boys hit the oval running. We had first use of the football early but didn't quite capitalise in front of goal. Sam kicked the first goal to kick start the game on his opposite foot, aer that the ball was going arc to arc with no team really controlling the hot footy The second term we jumped ahead with some nice goals from Dan Ferguson, we unfortunately let Mount Burr kick a couple to stay in touch with us. The third term we had the majority of play with Jed, Max and Kade all stepping up and Kaleb and Max kicking a couple nice goals. The last quarter we once again controlled it and won the game by 19 points to make it to the grand finale. Best for the day was a young kid from our Junior Colts team and is playing some amazing football, well done Hamish. Second was Lachy in and under all day, third was Max who loves the big games and stood up, next was Jed who broke lines all day, Pay Langsmith who played everywhere and used his huge motor. Sixth best was Kade with a big second half. Good luck in the grand finale.

17 & Under: Well, you all came out ready to play. What a great team game. Each of you played your part with the ability to change when needed. The defensive pressure all over the court made it difficult for Kalangadoo to feed their goalies. Olivia, Lola and Jaimie used a ball side drive to hit circle edge. Sarah and Ashlee worked the circle with paence to get a "good shot" on goal. Kaylah and Sara worked hard defensively to stop a circle edge feed. Macy and Tilly forced goalies wide, making it more difficult to score. Abbey played a strong defensive role to limit the movement onto circle edge, and drove hard through the centre to create space as a feeder. A great way to start the finals campaign. Now me to fine tune some skills and plays to be ready for the last game of the year. Thanks to the players and families for the dedicaon to training and game day allowing the girls to be successful. Thanks to Stacey for scoring so that all families could enjoy the game. Grand Final, here we come.

We were really lucky enough to play the first semi-final at home in really wet and windy condions against a very strong Port MacDonnell team. It was great to see the oval and surrounds looking so amazing so a shout out to Dion Dinnison and the whole Nangwarry commiee for geng the place looking so great. Also thank you to Henry Forbes for his donaon of Nangwarry jackets for all the senior colts' guys - they all looked really good in them. Aer losing the toss and kicking against the wind in the first quarter our boys showed exceponal spirit kicking a couple of goals and leading at quarter me 2.1 to 0.1. And again our boys started the second quarter prey well kicking a couple of goals before Port Mac fought back kicking 3 of their own to make it a really ght game at half me Nangwarry 4.2 to Port Mac 3.3. For the rest of the game it was prey much goal for goal with Nangwarry leading at the last break by 11 points. Port Mac fought back in the last and hit the lead and looked like they were going to overrun us before our leaders really stood up. Harry Hicks with his first goal for the day snapping a great goal to put us back in front. And then with Elwood Geary kicking his 7th goal of the game late gave us the win Nangwarry 8.6 to Port Mac 6.6. Well done to our guys, we are really proud of how far they have come this season but I feel for Port Mac as there has been nothing in-between all the top 4 sides in the senior colts all year as the results show, it is such an even compeon. It was really a

full team effort all day so picking best players was exceponally hard but some of the beer players for the day were Harry Hicks and Ollie Capewell who controlled the defence all day, Jagger Geary and Tayte Virtanen for his run out of defence. Bay McKinnon, Toby Grigg, Archer Virtanen, Rhys Grigg and Riley Edwards for their work through the middle. And Calais Borman and Elwood Geary for finishing off up forward. Also thank you to Taz and the Nangwarry senior players for helping out on the day to have so many A Grade footballers wanng to help out is so great to see and we really appreciate it and thank you for all the support we had from the whole club it was amazing. Also I would just like to thank Vesa Virtanen, Adam Dinnison, Steve Virtanen, Ben Geary for helping on the bench throughout the year. Our trainers Gobba and Hannah, Celeste Raymond for taking photos every week, Jason Edwards and Rachel Manninen, Dion Dinnison and all the kids who have filled in or umpired or did water boy for us and everyone else who has helped out throughout the year. And of course all the parents for their support of a great bunch of young men. Lastly I would like to thank Shane Ploenges, Kevin Dinnison and Tamara Ploenges and the whole Nangwarry commiee for everything you have done all year for us we really appreciate it. Now we look forward to the preliminary final.
