senior interleague side gallant in defeat It was a case of so near, but yet so far for Ben McGregor's senior representa ve side on Saturday as they eventually went down by 34 points a er a very even 3 and a half quarters of football. It was only a lapse of 10-12 minutes in the last quarter that did the damage, as the WBFL con nued to run and carry the ball, delivering with precision to their forward line. In a see-sawing game for most of the day, the match was well contested by all players. MSEFL brought a strong mindset to the game applying pressure to their opponents at every opportunity. Such was the intensity early, it took eight minutes for the first goal to be scored, courtesy of Sam McManus for MSEFL. Down in defence Mark Smith, Patrick Mitchell and Sam Wallis were keeping the WBFL forwards honest, while Joe Ferguson-Lane and Mitch Lowe were providing much needed run through the mid-field. At the first break MSEFL trailed by a goal. The start of the second quarter saw WBFL kick away to a 17 point lead and alarm bells were ringing on the MSEFL bench. Dylan Bromley took the game on at this stage and was proving a handful for the WBFL defenders, kicking a much needed goal to stem the flow of play. Another goal to sharp shooter Michael Krieger and the margin was again back to just six points at the main break. Josh Fiebig ed the scores up early in the third term and again the game was there for the taking. Goals to WBFL and Joe Ferguson-Lane
from the boundary line kept the scoreboard cking over with neither side able to break away. Harry Evans took the mark of the day, and possibly the year in front of the stubby shed that had the crowd on their feet and a goal soon a er kept MSEFL in touch. At the final break MSEFL s ll trailed by 9 points. Coach McGregor asked for a commi ed 25 minutes of hard, uncompromising football from his players, and it appeared to reap rewards when Jack Skeer goaled inside the first minute of the final term to bring the margin back to just 3 points. But that's where it ended for MSEFL, with WBFL appearing to have a bit more run late in the contest to take control of the game and run out eventual winners. MSEFL official best players for the day went the way of Sam Wallis, Mitch Lowe, Josh Wallis, Daron McElroy and Joe Ferguson-Lane. Honourable men ons to Jack Dawe, Tom Wachtel, Tye McManus, Patrick Mitchell and Jordan Galpin. All players are to be commended on their commitment to representa ve footy and should be justly proud of their selec on and performance on the day. Next year it is our turn to host KNTFL in the seniors and given the level of commitment and skill shown this year one could be quietly confident of finally holding alo the Carnival Shield. At the me of wri ng the Murray South East Zone training squad had yet to be announced by coach Adam Merre , but it is expected to be revealed during the week.
Sam Wallis was awarded best player for MSEFL with coach Ben McGregor.

zac walker chalks up
150 senior games Zac Waker will this weekend run out for his 150th senior game for the Tantanoola Football Club. Zac has played all his footy at the club star ng in the Junior Colts. His natural ability was on show at a young age winning the Junior Colts Most Consistent Award in 2005. In 2006 he was awarded the Junior Colts Best and Fairest along with the Leading Goal Kicker Trophy. Moving into the Senior Colts ranks he won the Coaches Trophy in 2007 and in 2008 he was awarded
his first senior game under coach Jason Rowe. A stellar season in 2009 saw him win the Malseed Medal for league Senior Colts Best and Fairest as well as the Most Courageous player for the Senior Colts team. Once in the seniors, Zac won the 2012 Best Under 21 at club level and in 2019 took home A Grade Runner-Up Best and Fairest. He has also played in a winning B Grade premiership in 2014, a year in which he was hampered by injuries.

senior games
for kongorong’s tom von stanke Tom Von Stanke played his first senior game for Kongorong as a Senior Colt back in April 2009. A career plagued by injury, it has been a long me coming to finally celebrate 100 senior games. Along the way Tom was fortunate enough to play in a premiership in
2008, bea ng Mount Burr at Mount Burr by 11 points. In his 100th game Tom kicked 6 goals for the day, no doubt a career highlight, and was named best player. Congratula ons Tom, from all the players and supporters, on a great achievement.
VIEW FROM THE HILL Some very ordinary weather condi ons across most grounds for our round nine clashes a couple of weeks ago making scoring difficult and results much closer than one would've predicted. The clash between Mt Burr and Robe was a classic with the visi ng Roosters ge ng the chocolates with a 4pt win. Mt Burr took advantage of a dry ball in the first quarter and took an eight-point lead at the first break. Robe then swung into ac on in the second quarter making good use of 2-3 goal breeze to kick three goals whilst restric ng the Mozzies to just 3pts and went to the long break 10 points up. It was then Mt Burr's turn to u lise the wind and they were able to put four goals through the big s cks, whilst Robe could only manage 6pts into it and give the home side an 8pt buffer heading into the last. The wind and rain was relentless as was Robe's endeavour as they posted four goals for the quarter to Mt Burr's two to come away with the win. Despite the condi ons Mt Burr's Jack Gregory was a stand out with 6 goals in some very trying condi ons at mes. For Robe their leading goal kicker was Riley Dickinson with 3 and Billy Laurie and Jack Sneath 2 each. Be er players for the victors went the way of Laurie, Sneath, Tom Wachtel, Sam Huebner, Kane Dunn and Jed Jarre . Mt Burr's best players named were James Wallis, Josh Fiebig, Josh Wallis, Tyler Stanley, Jack Gregory and Taylor Allen. Down at Port MacDonnell the home side needed all four quarters to dispose of a determined Kongorong ou it. Once again weather condi ons were less than ideal with strong winds and rain causing havoc for all concerned. Kongorong held an 8pt lead at the first break with Port MacDonnell doing all the scoring in the second term, to be 3pts up at the long break. The third quarter was again an even affair with both sides hi ng the scoreboard with the Demons having the upper hand and stretching their lead to 7pts heading into the last quarter. Mother Nature must've decided to have a nap during the last quarter as Port MacDonnell kicked away with a solid 6-6 for the quarter and restric ng Kongorong to just one goal to come away with a comprehensive 43pt victory. Dylan Bromley was a strong focus up forward kicking three goals in very slippery condi ons, while Mark Smith, Brandon Newton, and Kevin Thomson kicked two each. Harry Evans for the visitors was their only mul ple goal kicker with 2. Be er players named for Port MacDonnell were Tim Sullivan, Jake Schleter, Smith, Lachie Tilley, Bromley and Zack Williams. Kongorong's best players were Evans, Bryce James, Brad Cordy, Marty Von Stanke and Bryn Weaver. Kalangadoo welcomed their arch rivals Glencoe and a er the official opening of their new facili es and the unveiling of its Indigenous playing strip the stage was set for a top game of country footy. In a rela ve even first quarter Glencoe took the game right up to their more fancied opponents and at the first break trailed by just 11pts. However, that's were it all ended for the Murphies as Kalangadoo took control of the match kicking 10 goals to 1 to lead by an
impressive 70pts at ¾ me. Glencoe put some respectability into their score line adding 3 goals in the last quarter, but it was all Kalangadoo running out winners by 88pts. Much of the damage up forward was done by livewire Michael Krieger who finished the day with another 6 goals to his name, taking his goal kicking tally to 37 goals for the season. Tye McManus and Josh La Rocca contributed 3 goals each with Josh Searle and Ben Mules adding 2 to the Magpie tally. For Glencoe Alex Hentschke finished the day with 3 and Jack Edmonds 2. Best players named for the home side were McManus, Jason Bannister, Ma Fatchen, Searle, Krieger, and Lachy Jones, who also received the Tim Brennan Medal. For Glencoe Jake Blackwell was named best followed by Patrick Mitchell, Dylan Pfitzner, Dane Paproth, Carey Megaw and Brodie Glynn. In the last game of the round Tantanoola hosted Hatherleigh which was another low scoring affair, with Hatherleigh claiming victory by just 5pts. It was all Hatherleigh in the first three quarters and they looked to be cruising to victory with a score line of Hatherleigh 7-8 (50) to Tantanoola's 2-6 (18) at ¾ me. In the final term it was as if the sides had swapped jumpers as the home side kicked 4-5 whilst restric ng the Eagles to just 2 behinds to almost steal the match. In the end it was too li le too late for the Tigers, but certainly got the home crowd excited. Louis Brown and Josh Wight both kicked 2 goals for the Eagles, whilst for the home side Jack Dawe was their only mul ple goal kicker also with 2. Be er players for named for Hatherleigh were Jed Telfer, Jordy Galpin, Joe Ferguson-Lane, Jack Sullivan, Will Chay and Cameron Slape. Whilst for Tantanoola Chris Oliver was given the nod for best on ground, with Dawe, Jordan Ha , Adam Hunter and youngster Cade Kelly also featuring. To this week's round of matches and all the talk at the moment is how many injuries each side currently has and how much of an impact this is having on their player depth. The only side not to be impacted to any great degree is Kalangadoo. Could this be because they chose to play in 2020 and their players haven't had the stop/start nature of a contact sport to contend with? From my perspec ve it certainly is food for thought. Port MacDonnell host Glencoe and in the first round both sides were virtually at full strength. However, I would suggest the corresponding team sheets for Saturday will tell a vastly different tale. The weeks break for some players may have just been what the doctored ordered but both sides will s ll be missing key players due to season ending injuries sustained during the year. Port MacDonnell will be looking to consolidate their 2nd place on the ladder however, Glencoe will be determined to turn the tables on their first-round match which saw them go down by 16pts a er a very even three quarters of football. Glencoe's defence will need to bring their "A" game as Port MacDonnell's forwards are extremely accurate and can damage sides in a quarter of football. Glencoe has really struggled up forward and have no real structure in a ack,
something coach Frazer Scanlon has surely addressed in the last couple of weeks. This may be closer than a lot of people predict, but at home Port MacDonnell won't let this one slip. Mt Burr host Kongorong and in the surprise of the first round, Mt Burr took the 4pts with an impressive 43pt victory. Kongorong will be without gun recruit Cam Sandercock for the remainder of the season, whilst their other key recruit Ma Weistra sustained an injury that may s ll have him si ng on the sidelines for this week. Without these two play makers Kongorong are just treading water in 6th posi on on the ladder. Mt Burr on the other hand, whilst they also have their fair share of injuries have a much more even spread of ability and greater depth across their playing group and will be too strong again for the Hawks, especially at their home ground. The ba le of the red and whites takes place at Tantanoola this week, and the home side have certainly been the big improvers in the second half of the first round in my opinion. It was only a 20pt margin in the first round, and Tantanoola have definitely improved since. Robe on the other hand have had an up and down season to date. Pu ng in some good games against teams beneath them, but struggle when the pressure is applied. Tantanoola are a much be er side with Jak Ryan up forward, even though he's s ll not 100% fit, he gives his mid-fielders a target to aim at, and Robe will need to be mindful to get this match up right. Jack Dawe is another key player for Tantanoola that rarely puts in a bad game. The majority of both sides should be fresh and keen a er the long weekend and this match is shaping up as the match of the round and even though Robe should win, I won't be surprised with a Tantanoola victory at around 5pm Saturday. In the last match of the round Nangwarry and Hatherleigh clash at Nangwarry. It was a mere training run for Hatherleigh in their first-round encounter, but injuries have taken their toll on the Eagles in recent weeks, and although they will be no-where near full strength I can't see Nangwarry causing an upset here. It might be a li le closer than their first-round match, but Hatherleigh will s ll be too strong across the ground and get the 4pts to keep a handy buffer on 4th posi on over Mt Burr. And lastly my whole-hearted congratula ons to all involved with the interleague fixture on the weekend. To both Senior and Junior Execu ves for their con nued commitment to offering our players the opportunity to play at a higher level. To all the coaches who spent an enormous amount of me a ending trainings, working on game plans etc and lastly to all the players who were given the opportunity to represent both your clubs and your league at the next level. You have all done yourselves, your club and your league proud and we look forward to interleague success in the not too distant future.

FOR KONGORONG DEFENDER
AARON LIGHTBODY Aaron 'Kouta' Lightbody celebrated a fabulous achievement in playing his 100th A Grade game for Kongorong against archrivals Port MacDonnell in round 9. Aaron is born and bred Kongorong and has the black and gold running through his veins. A player most at home in the backline, 'Kouta' as he is be er known, has taken out the MSEFL Best Backman Award twice. As his teammate Dan Hann stated: “He has a fist like Thor's hammer, and is a forward's worst nightmare.” Kouta is well respected by his teammates, supporters and opposi on players alike. A great club man that we look forward to watching wear the #38 for many years to come. Well done and congratula ons Kouta.

MICHAEL mCRAE TO PLAY 100TH A GRADE GAME FOR GLENCOE The Glencoe Football Club would like to congratulate Michael McRae who is playing his 100th A Grade game for the Murphies today. Michael first played for the club in 2013 and took out the A Grade leading goal kicker award in his first year and again in 2015. He was also a member of our 2019 A Grade grand final team. A reliable kick for goal, ‘Mick Mac’ con nues to be a target up forward and has a season best match tally of ten goals. We wish Michael all the best for his milestone game and hope to see him in the Murphy jumper for many more games to come.
150 senior games
for robe’s tom kurray One of Robe’s Reserves favourite sons plays his 150th senior game for the club this Saturday, June 19th, 2021. A one-club player, Tom Kurray or “Plugger” or “Plough” as he is more commonly known, has arguably been the Roosters Reserves most consistent contributor over the last 10 years. A very handy player to have in your side as a coach and a popular teammate, he can play nearly every posi on on the ground and always gives his opponent a solid contest. Unfortunately for Tom he has enjoyed limited team success during his years as a senior footballer to date. Hopefully on Saturday we can keep our current momentum going and get a good result for our mate and enjoy celebra ng his achievement with a drink and a few stories a er the game. Congratula ons Plough!

Junior Colts: We took on Kongorong last game. Another tough contest for the boys but to their credit they played one of their be er games although the scoreboard did not reflect the effort that was put in by the boys. It was pleasing to see the kids s ck with their game structures and was a solid defensive game. Best players for the day were Harry Carrol who played a great rebounding game off half back and is really finding his feet at U14's level. Kai Gilmore who also played one of his be er games for the year. He presented well from our kick outs, crea ng some great op ons and tackled well. Jacob Spehr who was solid on the ball and in the ruck, crea ng many of our fast breaks out of conges on which gave his teammates first use. Zane Lewis just con nues his great form covering lots of ground and giving his all with his tackles and smothers. Wil Lewis is star ng to use his leg speed to get out of the contest and rarely wasted the ball when in his possession. Zaylen Smith who con nues his great work on the last line of defence. It was a great effort by the boys and it is great to see the improvement from all of the kids. Keep working hard and soon enough the rewards will come your way. Congratula ons to Jacob Spehr who played in the MSE U15's interleague team and also well done to Zane Lewis and Je Lewis who recently played in the year 6 and 7 SAPSASA carnival. Senior Colts: Winter returned with avengeance and what a muddy miserable day it was. We welcomed Zac, Fergus, Nick and Ethan over from the Western Border, and we thank them for coming out and having a kick with us. We came up against a strong, tall Kongorong ou it and although we didn’t get the win we played our best 4 quarter defensive game for the season. If we had’ve made the most of our opportuni es in front of goal the score could’ve been a lot closer. Best players: Zac H - who looked good in the red and blue, found the ball with ease and busted his gut all day. Jye - rucked hard all day and gave us first op on in the middle. Connor - solid in the backline as he is every game. Fergus another bloke over from the WB and showed us how to do it, pu ng in a solid game. Issac - played a true captain’s game, in and under all day. Redan - strong in the ruck, helped out down back and performed like he has all year. Start of the second round now boys, let’s string some good footy together and get a few wins on the board. B Grade: A er a couple of patchy performances that resulted in losses over the past 2 weeks, the previously undefeated B Grade side looked to bounce back against the old nemesis Kongorong. These games are fiercely contested games, and this one was no different, especially with both sides si ng inside the bo om half of the top four, a loss extends the gap between the top two and closes the gap between those chasing a finals spot. A er a solid first half of the game the boys managed to grind out a handy 4 goal lead in the tricky condi ons. In the second half the shackles were broken, and the boys put

3rd qtr
together some nice footy and kicked 7 goals to 1 to take out a nice and much needed win. Best for the week were Ben O'Dine, Bazz is the poster boy of ge ng be er with age, he may be not as agile as he once was, but his smarts and hardness is elite. Second best was Trent Ebejer, a er a quick spell in the seniors Trent returned to B's and was in splendid form. Third best was Caleb Catena who has been playing some real good footy in his first year at the club. Fourth best the old champ Ma Sullivan who has strung together a real good patch of form in the last month, however his game was overshadowed with an injury that required a hospital visit. Fi h best was Peter Buchanan in his first game for the club which was also overshadowed by an injury as well. Sixth best was Bryce Redman who played a wonderful game and is really star ng to hit his straps. A er a muchearned rest for the interleague weekend we start back at the start again with a home game against Glencoe. A Grade: A er being blessed over the last few weeks weather wise, we returned to what is perceived as a more normal weather for Pt MacDonnell in June, wet, windy, and generally not very pleasant, a er a good win on the road against Robe. A good win on the road is not as good if you can't back it up at home where we came up against the old enemy Kongorong. This was going to be a tough and hard game. The game itself really wasn't pre y to the eye, only 4 goals were kicked by both teams in the first half in the wet condi ons, the 3rd quarter both teams started to get a handle on the condi ons with 5 goals kicked in the quarter. We luckily s ll managed to hold a very slender lead heading into the final quarter. In the last quarter the boys managed to kick 6 goals to 1 to take out a hard earned win. First best for the week was Tim Sullivan who has had an unbelievable season so far and con nued his great form. Second best was Jake Schleter who con nues to his good form since returning from injury. Third best was Mark Smith who is another regular in this part of the write up and is pu ng together a great season. Fourth best in his first senior game of the year Lachie Tilley a er a few good weeks in the B's, took his good form into the A's with a splendid game. Fi h best, talking about splendid, was Dylan Bromley who is another one having a great year. Sixth best was Zack Williams who is as solid and reliable as it comes, and very rarely plays a bad game. Good luck to all that were selected and represented the club in the interleague carnival over the long weekend. This week we are back at home to take on Glencoe in another tough game. We have turned at the mid-way part of the season in second spot on the ladder. Let's hope we can con nue the good form that we have showed so far in the back half of the season. For those looking for a few bargains we are holding an auc on night tonight. You can fill the freezer, stay warm for the season, get an odd job organised, and even learn to surf if you want. Come along and get a bargain.

Last week we farewelled a muchloved member of our Glencoe community in Kym 'Kanga' Medhurst. Kanga was a great club man and a very well-known figure in and around the GFC. A passionate supporter of his children in both netball and football, his friendly nature and willingness to help was always admired. Our deepest condolences to the Medhurst family. Junior Colts: A er star ng the season strong the Mini Murphs had been slipping down the ladder progressively over the last couple of weeks. In what was a sombre week around Glencoe with the passing of Kym 'Kanga' Medhurst, the team were well and truly ready to give 'Li le Kanga' a game to remember. Warming up in the U11 comp Luke was then posi oned at full forward for the en re Junior Colt match where the team tried to feed the ball in. Being a li le Luke conscious early we squandered a few opportuni es and amassed 4 goals 4 behinds by quarter me. The greatest moment being when just about the en re team ran and congratulated Luke on his first goal for the day. This was followed by an excellent passage of play later in the game for him to gain another 6 pointer. Our five returning SAPSASA representa ves whom are very solid contributors week to week spent their dues on the bench and down back allowing others to shine. Kaleb dominated and kicked 3 nice majors. Li le Les played his heart out covering the ground well. Tyler played his best game to date along with Tighe who's working his way into the season. Senior Colts: Well wasn't a week off great for this team of good mates! I'm not sure what they got up to but hi ng the park fresh was in order and it played dividends with 8 majors in the 1st. These guys are playing not only great footy in their age group but regularly backing up for either the Firsts or Reserve teams. Our best on ground honours went to a dominant plus very disciplined performance by our ruckman Aiden Hurley, followed by Will Maloney a er a 10 goal effort (maybe look at Duursma's post goal celebra ons for inspira on Will). Kyle Maney and Isaac Mulraney swapping out of the centre and half back providing plenty of drive. Mark Arthurson and Digby Richards-Fennell con nuing on their good form from previous weeks.

3rd qtr
Reserves: A great contest between two solid Reserve teams, a touch of youth and experience in both sides saw our guys pull up a touch short. Solid contribu ons from two senior workhorses in Marcus McGrath and Ali Sco set a great example for our youth to follow. Player availability issues have seen this team hamstrung a touch but I do really enjoy watching some of our kids put their hands up to help out. Again, well done Aiden, Tim, Ben and Kyle. Seniors: Wet weather footy was back as we took on an in-form Kalangadoo side who rightly deserve to sit on top of the ladder. Our first quarter was our best as we managed to compete in close and get some outside run which generated scoring opportuni es up forward. The second and third quarters were not our best as Kalangadoo managed to win the inside and move the ball with precision through the middle of the ground which allowed them to put scoreboard pressure on. The last quarter was similar to the first as we managed to score a few more goals, however it was too li le too late. Across the board there were many contributors with Jake Blackwell playing consistently well in any posi on, Dylan Pfitzner marking strongly all day and Patrick Mitchell con nuing his good run of form. Other good players included Brodie Glynn, Carey Megaw and Dane Paproth all playing good compe ve games across the 4 quarters. Dorper leaving the field with a lip that looked as though he'd had a bad botox injec on for his efforts. A highly an cipated social night meant we were on a ght schedule to depart at the conclusion of the game, we apologise to the Kalangadoo Football Club but do hope you enjoyed the opening and celebra ons of the flash clubrooms. The Glencoe Football Club would like to congratulate Michael McRae (MickMac) on playing his 100th A Grade game today. Let's hope we can celebrate with a win! Please join us at the South Aussie Hotel for teas a er today's game at Pt Mac. We thank the South Aussie greatly for their con nued sponsorship over many years. I'm sure everyone will get there for a great feed. See you at the footy.

MOUNT BURR kongorong
Welcome back from interleague week. We hope everyone is fresh and ready for the second half of the season. Congrats to all players and coaches who par cipated in interleague. Our last game at home against Robe brought some cold and wet weather but everyone just kept going despite the weather, Robe was too good in winning all four grades but the A Grade was so close. We didn't quite get through all the team photos so the teams that missed out will get done at the next opportunity. Thanks Sonya. Thanks to everyone that turned up for the woodcut on the Sunday and thanks to Aileen Bellman for making scones for morning tea, it was much appreciated. Unfortunately the ba le at the Burr had to make some adjustments to some games because of the weather but everyone young and old enjoyed themselves just the same, thanks social commi ee. Our next func on is June 26th vs Glencoe Formal Dinner. More info to come. Finally the football club want to say thank you to anybody who volunteers, whether for the teams or around the ground, in the club, on a Saturday or a Sunday or through the week, many thanks. Junior Colts: Last game we came up against Robe. The boys were keen to play and we were looking forward to it. We had a couple boys pull out late but we were lucky enough Harrison Thwaites and Beau Douglas came over from Millicent and played extremely good footy. We were a tad off in the first half and let Robe kick away but to the boys’ credit we only kept them to 3 goals in the last half. Thanks to Robe as well for lending us some players, it was greatly appreciated. Best players were Charlie Bevan who’s playing really good footy at the moment, Jayden Garner who’s become a ripper tackling player for us, Deklan Brant strong as ever in

defence, Logan Carr who a acked the footy whenever he was around the ball, Jordy Burchall who’s pressure around the ball is unreal and Heath Johnston who always plays his role and is a great team player. We had the week off with the bye and the boys will be fired up for a big 2nd round. Cheers Tom. Senior Colts: Last game we were back home against an undefeated Robe side who gave us a bit of a football lesson and beat us comfortably. Best players were Brock Sandow solid at full back and rebounding hard. Finleigh Altschwager at CHB was playing a hard game and clearing out of defence all game and also debuted in A Grade playing a solid game there to. Jayden Poulish a acks every ball and took some great marks. Tyson Langdon in his first game put his head where some fear to tread making the most of his opportuni es and Rylan Burchell in his first year in colts is finding plenty of space and ge ng his hands on the ball. Best of luck to everyone next game. A Grade: Another loss hurts, but very proud of the boys’ efforts against a top side in Robe. The last two week’s efforts have been really good for our squad and younger players; if we keep pushing that standard the wins will come. Great to have all the supporters behind us too! Can Hill on a Saturday a ernoon really is something special and it was great to have them behind us throughout the game. At this stage of the season I think we’re all looking forward to a weekend off but also equally looking forward to ge ng back into it a er a good rest. All the best to all Burr netballers, footballers and officials involved with the Interleague weekend, a great achievement and great weekend. Kongorong at Mt Burr next up. Go Burr.

Winter certainly kicked in, and the best spot was close to the fire in the stubby shed for a large part of the day. Minis: A huge thank you to Trav and his team for hos ng us. The usual suspects played well again, but our best player was Mason "Cyril" Galpin who is a very flashy/skilful player but what impressed me was his team first a tude, doing all the team things. Young Jimmy Whi y is star ng to get his hands up and learn his role. Mitch Bowering was our third best for showing some toughness, he copped a hard hit but se led and got going towards the end of the game. The chaos/swarm is going ok, but s ll trying to get some sort of game plan together or at least more spread. Thanks again Trav for a great game. Junior Colts: The final game of the round saw us head down the road to the Bay in what was going to be tough condi ons with plenty of rain and wind around but the boys eager to finish off the 1st half of the season on a posi ve note. With a few away from training during the week either a bit crook or with SAPSASA it was always going to be a tough start to the game. The 1st quarter saw us having to kick against a fairly strong breeze but to the credit of everyone we managed to get off to a flyer and get 3 goals on the board by quarter me. From here in we built each quarter to record a comfortable win and that allowed us to shi players around throughout the game and get some extra game me into a few that haven't seen as much over the weeks, but also showed we have a few areas to work on over the coming weeks in some of our structures as we look to take on teams up the ladder in the next few games. Best players were juggled around a lot as players played in different posi ons or found themselves having a spell on the pine for a quarter. Swallow Drive Meats best player went to Tyler Richardson who managed to kick 7 along with se ng up a few others throughout the game. Second best and Rocks Shop Award went to Luke Allen who played his best game for the year across the forward flank, managing a goal and found plenty of the ball throughout the 4 quarters. Kur s Lasle across the centre half back line in the 1st half set up plenty of play, breaking the lines and defending well took home the Rocks Tavern Award. Playing 3 quarters in the midfield and always looking to bring teammates into the game while s ll providing plenty of run and breaking the lines, Rhys Newton took home the Mick Mullan Encouragement Award. A er breaking his arm, the week a er his very 1st game in round 1 it was great to have Blake Telford back out on the park and found plenty of the ball as played in a few different posi ons throughout the game received the Coach's Award. The Angelino Family Award went to Zavier Hunt who is improving each week and growing in confidence as the season goes on and is another that we are able to switch around the ground in a few different posi ons as needed. Next up we travel to the Burr as we start the second round of the year in what is always a tough game on their home ground. Go Hawks. Senior Colts: We took on the challenge of our old foes - the Bay boys. We had to make sure we finished the round with a win to keep our finals aspira ons alive and stay within the top four. With the Western Border not playing we had a chance to bolster our stocks and take the pressure off our younger players and it was great. Tyrone Rayner was excellent and was rewarded for his efforts with the Ma hews

Petroleum Award. Maverick Cooper was again outstanding and was awarded the Janeway Concre ng Award and is stringing together some consistency to his game. MT Wheels Award went to Troy Eder who was given a new challenge of playing at CHB coming out of the pocket and relished the role and played well and rebounded entries. Riley McConachie gave us plenty of the back flank and swapping in the ruck to take home the Badenoch's Deli Award. Next best, but could of well been best on ground, was Jake Carrigan who played both ends of the ground and shows how good his hands are and is able to read the play like a senior player. When he wants the ball its lookout to who's in his path. Joel Maconachie played a very smart role at full forward giving us a great target and swapping in the middle, found plenty of the ball and hit up teammates with ease and accepted the Spot-On Fishing Award. We look forward to the week off and hit the Burr at the start of the second round. Good luck to those who get to experience Interleague and showcase their talents. Reserves: Weather condi ons made it a tough day, and we were coming up against a handy Pt Mac side. We gave it our all but in the end the Bay boys capitalised on their opportuni es be er. We ba led pre y hard in the last quarter, holding our head high. Wil (with one L) McKenry took out the best player award, replacing BJ in the ruck, working hard for the team all game. The quick hands and skills of Tony Elletson landed him second best. Callum Wagstaffe put in another top effort for third best and coach Sean 'Pumba' Farrell contributed all day to be named fourth best. Lachie 'Stringer' Brown is finding some form to round out the best players. A Grade: We made our way to the Bay to take on our archrivals, in what turned out to be ordinary condi ons for footy. The boys acqui ed themselves well for the first three quarters with only seven points separa ng the two sides. The wet weather suited our shorter side and they had a real crack, then the rain stopped and the Bay boys got a bit of a run on in the last quarter to finish off well. Harry Evans con nued his fine form from last week to receive the Commersh Hotel Award. Bryce James in for his first A Grade game for us, rucked all day and showed he can step up when needed to take on the role, ge ng the Collins Court Butcher Award. Brad Cordy was a real workhorse securing the Killara Food Centre Award, closely followed by Marty Von Stanke with the Club Tea Award. Rounding out the best players was Bryn Weaver in yet another solid effort, ge ng the Pick Ave Bakery & Deli Award. Special men on to Brayden 'Nugget' Leciester on playing his first A Grade game. Congratula ons to Aaron 'Kouta' Lightbody on his 100th A Grade game for the club, an absolute legend around the club and a top bloke too! With the week off hopefully a few have had some extra me to recover from injury and we will see a few more returning to the field this week. Wishing Cam Sandercock and Je A ard well with their season ending knee injuries/opera ons/recoveries. A er today's game we head to The Commersh (upstairs) for presenta ons and meals. All welcome. Next week is our Past Players Day at home against Tantanoola. Band “Halfa 6 Pack” will be playing a er meals, bus ride home available for a endees, so spread the word, and make a day of it. All the best today as we take on the Mount Burr Mozzies.

Thank you to everyone who put a team into the first Nanga's Indoor Bowls Tournament. It was a great night and very well supported. Congratula ons to TBC on winning. The Nangwarry Formal has been booked for the 14th of August at the South Aussie. We hope everyone can make it. Tickets will be on sale soon! A big shout out to Chris and Brent’s boys who managed to cause an upset at home last game bea ng the Tigers who were si ng 3rd on the ladder. In what many were saying was the best game of Junior Colts footy in a long me. This side is definitely improving, and we look forward to seeing what they can do in the second half of the season. Jamie Parsons is on the mend and we hope to see him back in the box coaching his boys soon. LT has been helping out and I am sure he is understanding the hell he put his junior coaches through back in the day (teenage boys are not all that easy are they Luke?). The club is s ll progressing thanks to Mick Mullan and his boys and we are ge ng excited to see the next stages. This week we welcome Hatherleigh and we hope to be a li le more compe ve than in round 1. Let’s see if we can cause some upsets in this second half of the season. Remember it is never impossible to achieve success, you just have to WANT it. Junior Colts: We were back home and welcomed Tant for a very important game to keep in touch with the top 4. Our guys were switched on from the opening bounce and came home with an impressive 5 goal win. Benne played what many said was his best game for the club and was a running machine and deserved his BOG. Archer was next best with 4 goals with Taj, Noah and Calais
rounding out the best. Team awards went to Jordan E, Deklan, Toby and Jordan D. A couple of weeks off now with the bye and interleague then back into the second half of the year. The group is focused on con nuing to play good team football and pu ng some more wins on the board. Go Saints! Senior Colts: The Senior Colts came up against a very well drilled and talented Tant team. Unfortunately, our boys didn't come switched on and we're on the back foot from the get-go. We need to s ck it out and get the numbers to training in the next few weeks and things will happen! A Grade: Our A Grade boys put the pressure on against a very solid Tant team. Jak has his boys well drilled and they ran away with it in the end. We defended hard and for the be er part of 3 quarters we were right in the game. Week by week we are improving, and our scoring is now consistent. Now we are looking forward to a couple weeks off to freshen up the body. Cheers LT.

Under 11: It was a cool Saturday morning at Tantanoola and the U11s were lucky enough to be the only dry game for the day. Some good numbers took to the field in U11 with both Tant and Hatherleigh fielding large numbers. The game was played in good spirits with the bigger kids adap ng their tackling and intensity to match that of the smaller kids across the field. Each week we are developing in to a very balanced team not afraid to share the ball and include all players trying to find teammates in space by hand and foot. We had some very exci ng passages of play where we transferred the ball down the field finding our leading players with some good kicking skills again well done everyone! I also thought we did a good job trying to s ck with our players and ensure we are manning up. Award winners for the day were: $10 Dentons Sportspower award Patrick McGrath had a good day finding plenty of touches and reads the play well; HFC $5 award - Lenni Clifford had a very good day and was con nually using his size to his advantage breaking though tackles and packs in to the clear and displaying some good foot skills; Ladies Commi ee award - Tommy Acky each week finds the ball where ever he is on the field. His pace and evasive skills make him a hard player to tackle; McDonalds award - Rhyda Rawling each week is fairly quiet lad, loves playing the game and con nues to develop his skills and understanding of the game well done Rhyda. Junior Colts: First half of the season done, with the challenging weather condi ons on the weekend, the team fought hard all game. Reilly Prouse's skills were a standout in the wet weather giving us first opportunity from the centre clearances, young Cohen Clark played well laying some good tackles and shepards, Ollie Fitzgerald was also was amongst this best playing as a ruck/onballer. Brayden Chambers presented well up forward also was handy in the back line for the rebound, Winston Figg took some strong marks up forward and did a good job of s cking on his player when in the backline. Overall good team win in the wet and windy condi ons! Best players: Riley Prouse (Dentons Sportspower), Cohen Clark

(Millicent Toy Kingdom), Ollie Fitzgerald (Stumpy Nilsson), Brayden Chambers (Peter Walters), Winston Figg (Ladies Commi ee Canteen). Senior Colts: It was a tough day for the Senior Colts, with wintery condi ons welcoming the players to Tant. The boys ba led hard all day, but Tant were too strong running out convincing winners in the end. Paddy Chay was best on ground, ba ling hard all day, Riley Shanks had plenty of the ball, Myles Widdison was in and under all day, Ethan Bowman played his usual game using his elite skills, Danny Golding rounded out the best players playing well in an under siege backline. Reserves: We ventured to Tant for the first game of winter and finally got a cold and wet day for footy. A er more injuries in both grades we managed to put a side together. Tantanoola had us on the back foot from the first minute of the game. Their bigger bodies and physicality suited the wet condi ons and couldn't be matched by our midfielders as they con nually moved the ball forward. Our defenders ba led hard all game but the sheer weight of inside 50s meant the opposi on were able to keep scoring. Unfortunately we lost our first game for the year and it showed we s ll have stuff to improve on as the season moves forward. Best players were Reidy, Altsch, Denno, Lachie and Thorny. Gilbo and Jez finished with 2 goals each. A Grade: The weather has been good to us this year un l last weekend down at Tant it was typical winter football, with wild condi ons our boys adjusted well and controlled the first 3 quarters. The last quarter the weather came down harder and Tant with force of numbers and willingness to win the footy first mounted a comeback kicking the first four goals, our boys in the backline were under siege with the ball coming in long and fast. A nerve racking last 5 minutes saw us hang on to a gutsy win by 5 points, Jed Telfer was massive down back with clean skills and rebounding well of half back while Jordy Galpin and Joe Ferg got plenty of the ball dishing it out to our runners. We are now looking forward to recharging over the bye period before the second half of the year.

The Tantanoola Football and Netball Clubs would like to congratulate Zac Walker who plays his 150th game today for Tantanoola. A talented li le pocket rocket with great skills has won many trophies throughout his career and we look forward to seeing him play for many more years. A massive shout out to all those who volunteered and went above and beyond on our biggest and busiest day for the season so far. We appreciate all the work our treasured volunteers do throughout our club but there are s ll weeks where the same people do 2 or 3 jobs throughout the day (some mes more) so we would love for others to step up and help out. It could be something as small as jumping in the canteen when they are busy or helping out with goal or boundary umpiring. It is a tough gig to run a club but plenty of support makes it so much easier. See a member of the footy or netball exec if you would like to help out in any way. Thank you to Chaps and Spog who organised our gate raffle of a trailer load of wood which raised over $1000 to go towards our junior footballers. Thank you to those who helped sell the raffle ckets. Last weekend was Interleague with Tayla Rowe, Keelie Lindner and Molly Cushion in Adelaide at the Netball Country Championships and the footballers were in Millicent. Congratula ons to Cade Kelly, Sam Simmons, Brayden Rowe, Braydn Hateley and Ashton Linder who made the U15 squad. Will Scanlon, Corey Baker, Sam Jennings, Jack Cytrowski, Saxon Altschwager and Ellis Cushion in 17's. Jack Dawe, Chris Oliver, Jak Ryan and Roy Osborne were selected in the seniors squad. Hypno st Isaac Lomman was amazing and highly entertaining having everyone in the club in s tches. It had a bit of everything - super spies, love matches, Irish dancers, 'phone calls' from celebri es, kangaroo riders winning a million dollars and 'hot' seat just to name a few. A very successful night so well done to Alana and the Social Commi ee for organising. Rump and Red is our next event on July 17th, ckets will be on sale soon so keep an eye out around the club and on our Facebook for more informa on. A Mexican iPod Shuffle Night is on August 14th. Sponsors are an important part of running our club and we appreciate the support we get from businesses and families/individuals, your generosity is crucial for our club. Junior Colts: We took on the undefeated Hatherleigh with a couple players out. We had 4 youngsters from them on our side (thanks Cluffy). We started a bit slowly with them taking a good lead into half me but to our lads’ credit we managed to outscore them in the second half and played a much be er brand of football with our a ack on the ball in a vast improvement from the week before. Keep it up boys, I'm sure a win is just around the corner. Was great to see our young under 11 players all get a bit of the ball and improving every week. Best players were Brayden, Ashton, Braydn, Kaden, Ryder and Eli. Awards were Charlie (Jennings), Ryder (Canteen), Ethan (Hungry Jacks), Eli (Maccas). Senior Colts: Under 17 boys took on Hatherleigh on a lovely wet day at home in a ba le for second spot. Our boys started a bit slow but then come out a er half me and played great wet weather footy and come home with a good win. Mike and I are very proud off the boys, keep up the good work! Best were Paddy, Will, Ellis, Cade, Wezza in no par cular order. B Grade: Hi everybody. Well the sunny South East really turned it on for our home game against Hatherleigh. My guys were up and about from the opening bounce. The energy was unreal and I knew we were in for a big day for Floppy's 150th. We've had the same team 3 weeks in a row and it's definitely started to show with combina ons on the field it was a perfect 4 quarter performance and we didn't have a bad player in a Tant jumper. Best players were Minky, Spog, Gunk, Bundy and Pidge. Great stuff fellas, enjoy the weekend off. Go Tigers! A Grade: G'day everyone. Last game we hosted Hatherleigh for round 9 of the MSE. The boys had just come off a bye and ready to take on the challenge of a club higher up on the ladder. The first half seen us go goalless in some very wet condi ons but as we came out the gates in the second half seen a moving forward team by staying true to a game plan, working hard and showing real heart when we were up against it. Though the boys fell 5 points short a er a 25 point deficit, we were all happy with the show of courage and aspira ons to not drop heads and keep figh ng. Bests were Jack Dawe, Chris Oliver, Jordan Ha , Cade Kelly and Adam Hunter.

Junior Colts: We travelled down to Mount Burr to try and cement ourselves well and truly inside the top 4 and push for a top 2 posi on. As expected we were met with drizzly condi ons which played into our hands. From afar the first quarter would be put down as a ck but I thought we started very flat and were second to the ball. The scoreboard fla ered us and the boys took a 4 goal lead in the first. We came out much hungrier in the second and moved the ball faster and with more intent. Angus McLachlan was superb up forward crea ng a contest and taking strong marks. The second half was made a bit even on our behalf by sending a few of our older players to the opposi on as Mount Burr are struggling a bit for numbers. All boys that played for the other side tried the best and should be commended for it (Myles even kicked one of their two goals). The midfield was controlled for the majority of the day by Mason, Kaiden, Cooper and Charles, these boys gave first use to our forwards who relished this. The final score was 87 to 16 in favour of Robe. Best players were Mason McKenny, Kaiden Carter, Connor McMullan, Archie Hagge and Angus McLachlan. We are looking forward to the week off but even more excited to play Tant the following week who gave us our first loss of the season. Looking to rec fy this result. Cheers Jack. Senior Colts: Last round was a cold and miserable day down at Mt Burr with the rain washing over in patches. The boys came with a can-do a tude and keen to get another win on the board. With only 17 players to Mt Burr’s 23, it appeared that we were in for a rough day. The rain held off for the start of the game and it was a ripping start. The ball bouncing back and forth from both teams half backline. The Robe boys ran in waves and penetrated the 50 on mul ple occasions. We spring boarded from half back with Jesse Robertson, Ethan Cornish and Cooper Thomas providing plenty of drive. Robe came away with a 4 goal first quarter catching Mt Burr off guard as they only kicked the 1. In the second quarter, the Robe midfielders in Flynn Peel, Mason Keane and Jay Lines con nued to hustle the ball forward and dominate clearances. The rain started to come in and slowed the football right down. The ball was super slippery when it hit the ground and it was anyone's ball to be won. We only managed to kick one for the quarter as play slowed and the conges on started. In the third the rain dried up and so did the conges on with some more free flowing footy from both teams. It was a forward kind of day with the Robe forwards Mitchell Nunan, Max Robertson, Jai Hagge and Ollie Hagge having a field day piling on 2 more goals for the quarter. Mt Burr managed some quick ball movement off their half back line and catching the Robe defence off guard. Mt Burr managed to kick their second goal for the game. In the last, the flood gates well and truly opened the ball was zipping around the oval. Tensions boiled over and a huge selec on of players were sent from the field, even some who weren't involved. That's one way to stop a fight! Regardless

we kicked another 2 goals with Jai Hagge boo ng a team li ing goal to well and truly seal the game. We came away with a 48point victory. Thank you to Mt Burr who lent us 2 players for the day which enabled us to play the 18 on the field. Good luck to all the Robe boys selected in interleague and I hope you do the mighty Roosters proud! Tom 'Woka' Wachtel. Reserves: We headed down to Mt Burr in cold and wet condi ons expec ng a challenge against a Mt Burr side that would be hungry for a win at their home ground. Despite struggling for numbers so far this year Mt Burr put up a really compe ve effort, especially in the first half, and we had to work hard for our goals. Our backline stood up really well under the condi ons and Mt Burr’s score of 5 points for the day definitely wasn’t an accurate reflec on of their work rate or the inside 50 count on the day. It was a solid team effort with everyone playing their roles and contribu ng to an eventual 95 point win for the Roosters. We now look forward to a week off to freshen up before heading into the second half of the season with the aim to keep improving each week as a group. Our next game looks to be another challenge against a Tantanoola side on their home ground fresh from knocking off the top side Hatherleigh! A Grade: For a long me the Roosters drove to Mt Burr with a feeling of dread as the green and golds had the wood on Robe. However in recent years the tables have turned and based on form the Roosters travelled to Mt Burr with an expecta on that they would win. The winter weather had returned for the match and it would be interes ng to see which team would adapt to wet weather quickly. The first quarter was a ght affair as both sides were feeling each other out. Both defences were on top and players were adap ng to the slippery condi ons. At quarter me the Burr led by eight points. Both teams were playing with desperate intensity however during the second quarter. For the first ten minutes the game was played in close and ght between the half forward lines with no goals scored. There were scuffles breaking out whenever the ball was in close and at mes it looked as if the umpires may lose control. Late in the quarter Robe were able to open the game up and scored three quick goals to open up a two goal lead. Mt Burr started the second half with good use of the ball and Robe were undisciplined which resulted in two quick goals to the Burr which evened up the score. Robe con nued to have shots on goal but could make them count while Mt Burr went into their forward line rarely but kicked accurately. At the start of the last the Burr led by eight points and Robe had everything to do. The last quarter was epic with both teams going goal for goal. Players from each team threw themselves into the game without fear and the siren sounded with Robe leading by five points. Best players were Bill Laurie, Jack Sneath, Tom Wachtel, Sam Heubner, Kane Dunn and Brodie Foulds.

sa country championships REVIEW The Mid South East Netball Associa on took 4 teams to Adelaide on the June Long Weekend to compete in the Country Championship compe on at Netball SA Stadium. In the Mid South East Netball Associa on’s 60th year, we a ended our 45th Country Championships.
SENIORS Our Senior team, coached by Abbey Duncan, started day 1 well, winning 3 out of 4 matches. They defeated Eastern Eyre, Great Southern, Yorke Peninsula and had a narrow 1 goal loss to KNT. Players of the day were Abbey Duncan and Heidi Clark. This put the Senior side into the A Grade pool on Sunday. This saw a very evenly matched day of compe on, winning 1 of 3 minor round matches. Mid South East defeated North Eastern and lost to Whyalla and Western Border. This placed them 3rd overall and set up a semi-final showdown with Western Border a er losing to them narrowly in the minor round. Unfortunately the girls went down in a hard fought match running out of legs and injuries limi ng bench rota ons. Players of the day on Sunday were Tegan Merre and Madi Hagge . Overall our Senior side played a great weekend of netball, represen ng Mid South East at a high standard. Congratula ons must go to Sarah Faulkner and Abbey Duncan for making the Top 10 Team.
17 & UNDER This was the first carnival for 3 of our 9 girls in the 17 & Under team, coached by Narelle Ryan. Saturday morning there was all types of nerves and excitement, which fortunately they took in their stride. The 17's defeated Broken Hill, Northern Areas, Port Lincoln and had a loss to River Murray. This resulted in them making Under 17 Division 1 Pool A. Players of the day on Saturday were their co- captains Lacey Haines and Shelby Ryan. Sunday was an even bigger day, playing 5 games against much more skilled teams, whilst having aching fa gued bodies. The Adelaide compe on was not what our girls are used to down in MSE, but did not deem them beaten. The physicality was a big eye opener for them, which is what let them down, but they remained compe ve only losing games by 5 or 6 goals. They displayed some outstanding passages of play. Unfortunately, which seems to be the MSE curse, injuries rid them of players, limi ng
their rest me and also bench rota on which the coaches thought would affect our posi onal changes. It was a massive team effort by all of the girls to give 110% no ma er the posi on they were given. It was their versa lity and determina on that got them all the way through, an incredible effort by all. The end of the day saw them with only 1 win from 5 with Sophie Wrightson and Holly Watson ge ng players of the day. Monday saw them play in 2 elimina on finals, with 1 win and 1 loss. It was a fantas c weekend, spent with an amazing bunch of girls.
15 & UNDER Our 15 & Under team were coached by Pauline Mulraney. The girls had a tough day on Saturday, coming away winless with losses to River Murray, Barossa Light/Gawler, Southern Hills and Port Pirie. There were s ll fantas c passages of play and all girls gave 110%, not le ng the losses dampen their spirits. Players of the day were Bella Poulish and Ebony Wurst. The losses on Saturday put them into Division 3 on Sunday. This day’s compe on was a lot more even, with the girls having wins against Broken Hill, Western Border and Roxby Downs. The girls finished the day with a 12 goal loss against Western Eyre and some very red and sore bodies! Players of the day were Bridie McPherson and Lara Wilson. Monday saw the girls line up against Western Border for the second me, this me in a semi-final. This was a fantas c game, with the Mid South East team coming from behind in the last 5 minutes to snatch a 2 goal victory. This set up a Grand Final against Western Eyre, who had beaten the girls the previous day. This was an extremely physical encounter, with the girls going down by 7 goals but figh ng it out un l the end. Players of the day were Imogen Nowak and Zoe Mulraney. The girls were presented with their runner-up medals by Thunderbirds player Lenize Potgieter.
13 & UNDER The 13 & Under side coached by Leah Puia played 5 games on Saturday winning 3. There were some ghtly contested games with one game going down to the wire with a 2 goal loss. Chloe Peacock led the way at GD crea ng numerous turnovers, allowing the team to have some strong wins. Tegan Lythgo created opportuni es in goals and rebounded strongly to ensure turnovers were rewarded. Kalli

Ne le and Alex Haines worked relessly in the centre to drive the ball down court, feeding their goalies with precision passes. At the conclusion of play, they finished 3rd in their pool meaning the girls were in division 2 for their games on Sunday. Sunday proved to be another challenging day with 5 games to be played. The day started with a tough game against North Eastern with this being the one and only loss for the day. New combina ons were formed with Molly Cushion moving into goals and Sara Smith becoming a solid goal keeper. Molly became a focal point in the circle combining well with Tegan who had strong hands when rebounding. Shayden Russell went to WA and fed well to create opportuni es for the goalies to convert. Tilly Gamble and Grace Altschwager worked hard to win their posi on on the wings, crea ng turnovers at WD and feeding their goalies well when playing WA. Chloe and Sara became a solid combina on, with Sara rebounding strongly and passing the ball out of defence. Chloe drove the ball into a ack and took numerous mely intercepts in every game. They finished 2nd in their pool to play in cross over quarter finals on Monday. The first game Monday was a quarter final with the losing team being eliminated from the compe on. The girls played the Riverland in the quarter final with all a strong performance. The first half was closely contested with a 5 goal lead at half me. In the second half Riverland con nued to put pressure on to limit opportuni es, but the 13s came away with an 8 goal win to advance into the semi finals. Their final game for the day was against Western Border. The girls started slowly with Western Border scoring the first 4 goals. They con nued to work hard to score and managed to peg the score-line back to a 2 goal deficit in the 2nd half. Unfortunately, too many unforced errors meant they went down by 6 not progressing to the grand final. The girls did extremely well to play 12 games over the weekend. They represented their clubs well on and off the court with a posi ve a tude, which was reflected on the way they played throughout the whole weekend. Thanks to Sam Ne le for being an organised team manager and a wonderful support to Leah and all of the girls. The Mid South East Netball execu ve must be congratulated on organising another successful weekend for our girls. The me and effort they put in is appreciated and valued by all players, coaches and families.

for zoe parham-hawke Congratula ons to Zoe Parham-Hawke who plays her 100th game for Glencoe Netball Club today. Zoe started playing netball for Glencoe in 2014 as part of the 13 & Under side and although she may be small in stature you will always see Zoe zipping around as a mid courter. She always gives 100% and is really star ng to find her feet as a part of the B Grade side this year, in her first year of senior netball. Zoe has followed in her family's footsteps and likes to help out when she can. She has previously shown a passion for umpiring and collected herself a Special Umpiring Encouragement Award in 2016 for her efforts. In 2015 Zoe also won the Runner Up Best & Fairest for 13 & Under. Congratula ons Zoe and we look forward to seeing what your future brings at the Glencoe Netball Club.
ROUND 10 A GRADE NETBALL PREVIEW MOUNT BURR v KONGORONG Mount Burr are at home this week and take on the Hawks. In their last ou ng, Mount Burr defeated Robe by 13 goals, while Kongorong were defeated by Port MacDonnell by 16 goals. Kongorong remain winless a er the first round, while Mount Burr have showed what they are capable of with some brilliant netball in Round 1. Mount Burr was well represented in the Senior Country Championship team with Madi Hagge , Heidi Clark and Sarah Nulty all travelling up to Adelaide to represent Mid South East. Kongorong were also represented with youngster Riley Buckingham making her senior debut at Country Champs and doing her club proud. A er being teammates over the long weekend, the girls will face off against each other on Saturday. Mount Burr have strength all over the court, Madi Hagge and Heidi Clark are exci ng to watch in defence and will push Kongorong's goalies and make it difficult for them to score. Kongorong's defence line in Emily Lightbody, Riley Buckingham and Ella McIntyre work hard every week for the Hawks but will be no match for Ebony Clark and Sarah Nulty who have been shoo ng excep onally well and are well supported by their midcourt feeders. Mount Burr should have a convincing win. PORT MACDONNELL v GLENCOE Port MacDonnell take on Glencoe at home this week. Port Mac are coming off a 16 goal win against Kongorong in the last round of matches, while Glencoe had a surprisingly large loss to Kalangadoo going down by 35 goals. Port MacDonnell have had 2 wins in the first round of matches while Glencoe have slipped out of the 4, currently si ng in 5th spot on the ladder. Glencoe
defeated Pt Mac in the first round and will be looking to regain some form and push back into the top 4 on the ladder. Morgan Amy and Lisa McGregor have been consistent for the Bay in defence and while the Demons haven't had many wins they have made opposi on goalies earn their goals. They will need to be on their toes again this week against Glencoe's Caitlin Hentschke and Laura Edwards who are ably fed by Donna Jaeschke and Ashlea Edwards. Brooke Williams for the Bay has been a focal point with her accurate shoo ng. She will have a good match up against Glencoe's Sarah Edwards whose athle cism and ability to read the play makes her dangerous in defence. Glencoe will be desperate for the win to add to their points tally and should get the win against a determined Pt Mac. TANTANOOLA v ROBE Tantanoola are back at home this week and take on the seasider Roosters. In the last round of matches the Tigers had a narrow loss against Hatherleigh, going down by just 5 goals while Robe were defeated by Mount Burr by 13 goals. Tantanoola have found some very good form and consistency, currently si ng in 4th spot on the ladder a er Round 1. Their a ack line has been impressive, with Emma Gould and Jami Walker playing brilliantly together in the goal circle. They are well supported by Vic Lucas and Casey Walker who feed their goalies with pinpoint accuracy. Their defence line of Kate Bromley and Tayla Rowe have also been impressive, with Tayla represen ng Mid South East in the 17 and Under compe on at Country Champs last weekend. They will match up well against Robe goalies Sarah Laurie and Tori Gluyas. The Roosters goalies have combined well together this year, with Sarah also
Proudly supporting the Mid South East Football League
gaining valuable experience represen ng Mid South East in the Senior side for the first me at the weekend. Robe’s defence line of Georgia Perkins and Alannah Campbell have been consistent, ge ng their hands to many balls. They will make Gould and Walker work for every goal. Shoo ng accuracy will be important in the outcome of this game, Tant should take the points and con nue their good momentum. NANGWARRY v HATHERLEIGH Nangwarry are at home this week against the Eagles and will be keen to get back into it a er having the bye and then the long weekend. Nangwarry have had just the one win in the first round while Hatherleigh have gone from strength to strength and are playing terrific netball. Hatherleigh held on against Tantanoola in their last ou ng, ge ng the 5 goal win. Hatherleigh led by just 1 goal at ¾ me but managed to hold on. Hatherleigh had 2 representa ves in the Senior Country Championships side, with Sarah Faulkner and Tegan Merre represen ng their club. Sarah was named in the Top 10 Team, a fantas c effort. The Eagles have strength all over the court, Maddie Pulmer is strong in goals and combines well with Lacey Haines who represented Mid South East in the 17 & Under team at the weekend. They will be up against the Saints’ Hayley Vanderhorst and Carly Ploenges who give their all every week but Hatherleigh should win this ba le. Eagles defence line of Maddie Redman and Sarah Broadhead have been in great form and will make the Saints goalies earn every goal they get. Hatherleigh should have a big win and take the points against a determined Nangwarry. Kalangadoo has the bye.

port macdonnell NETball club notes Junior 1: Another top effort. It was cold, it was wet, and it was horrible weather, we pushed through as a team and we got the job done. Our coming in front of our players was much be er which we spoke about at the start of the game as it was so windy the ball would just hold up in the air. Once again we made a goal at the start of our game and we nailed it yet again. Our drills at training have started to come into game days which is great to see as it works. Congratula ons to all girls, everyone played amazing and should be proud of themselves. Best players went to Ivy Wilson (Baker’s Delight) and Lily Pe ngill. Well done girls. Junior 2: Another great game girls. Everyone is star ng to work really well with each other, and the girls are star ng to find their place on the court. Their chasing skills, and passing has improved so much since the beginning of the season, as well as their defensive pressure. We just really need to work on how to not crowd the ball and to pass the ball to our players when they are in front of their defenders. Also the girls’ defensive pressure all over the court is great! There's always a hand over the ball and someone on a player. Emily Osborn, our li le quiet achiever played really well and got first best. Emily is really good at coming in front of her player and being free, she just needs to use her voice so her teammates know she is free. When she was in GK she stuck to her player really well, and for being one of the shortest girls in the team she got many touches! (Donut King). Second best went to Skyla who is a great asset to the team, and is going to become one great li le netballer in the near future. Her passing is awesome, and she seems to be there for almost every contest and ge ng many turnovers. Third best went to Emilee Johnson, who is another quiet achiever, but she has come along way and her passing is improving so much and she s cks well to her player. Keep up the great work guys. 13 & Under: As we are star ng to se le into posi ons, we can see you all grow from week to week. From me to me we might put you in a different posi on and it's pleasing to see you s ll try hard. Layla shot well in the first half and played a solid game in defence as well. Isla you played your best game, keep up the good work. Bella shot well when she came on in the second half, with some good passes from Mollie to her. Awards: Donut King - Isla and Chelsea. 15 & Under: Best: Lara Wilson (Dominos), Bridie (Baker’s Delight). Well done girls on another great win! Everyone adjusted well to some new combos that haven't happened yet this year. Congratula ons Lara on adjust to working in defence with Bridie. We need to work hard at trainings and ensure we are all there! 17 & Under: Heavy rainfall impacted our smooth transi on last game, as expected. But we took the bull by the horns and made it work. Placement of the ball is a key factor in transi on and we lacked that a li le bit. Our short game is not as familiar to us as the long game is. But that is ok! Time to work. Well done to everyone on bracing the weather and s ll playing to their best ability. Awards: Kristy Sneath and Stevie Collins. B Grade: Best players: Candice Merre and Kristy Sneath. Awards: Pick Ave Deli and F45. At the start of our game we were caught in a very heavy downpour which con nued intermi ently throughout the game. Condi ons made us play in front and have short sharp passes, which matched our speed and drive to the ball. Strong defence in the middle shut down op ons for the opposi ons and created turnovers. The turnovers created we capitalised on and were scored by Candice
glencoe NETball club notes
and Kelli. Who both shot extremely well in spite of the poor weather condi ons. The defence around the circle by Jen and Abbi were ght and both got hands to the ball. The pressure they create help Natasha and Kristy to get deflec ons and intercep ons. Kristy's constant pressure, and close defence was impressive. Her hard work at training has paid off on the court. The a ack line combina on worked well together passing the ball around to create space, reoffering for each other and passing back and forth opening up the circle for Candice and Kelly. The game was played in great spirit and we enjoyed the contest with Kongorong. B Reserve: Great game girls, under terrible weather condi ons we kept it consistent all game. Goalies had a hard job in the wind but both Cristan and Maddi (award) fought hard and finished strong. Loz fed well into the ring and held her ground. Great defence the whole way down the court with Briodie (award) picking up a lot of loose balls and intercepts. Great defending in the circle Ariella and Lyndal holding your goalies to only 8 goals - great job. Ash worked hard and kept the pressure on. We just need to remember to adjust to our condi ons and consider our passes. Let's enjoy the week off and come back strong for round 2. A Reserve: Slow start to the game, heading into the second quarter 8 down, we all stepped up coming into the second half, our defensive pressure all over court was awesome and got some valuable turnovers. Keyarnah and Megan worked well together in goals, and shot with accuracy. We where able to hold our lead for the remainder of the game, it was great to see us all star ng to work together as a team and not drop our heads when the other team takes the lead. Keep up the good work. Best - Keyarnah Smith and Megan Hein. A Grade: In a very wet, wild, and torren al day, we ba led through stepping on court. The condi ons did not make it easy for either team, but we started off strong and got the six-goal lead. Morgan and Lisa were once again on fire, rebounds, intercepts were strong. Jess worked defensively hard in the a ack end ge ng many turnovers and working hard to chase balls. Nice to get another win on the board girls, awesome work - well done. Best players: Morgan Amy (She's Apples) and Lisa McGregor (Bay Pizzaria). The Port Mac Netball Club Commi ee would like to thank all our volunteers. Without your help and me, we would not be able to run our club. All our coaches, umpires and parents, we thank you. Junior 2: Great game girls. Lots of pressure was applied over the ball the whole way down the court. We s ll need to work on coming forward a bit but overall, you guys are smashing it. Metalworx Award went to Shelby for amazing front cuts and defence over the ball. Second best went to Mikayla for amazing intercepts throughout the court. Junior 1: A great game again girls. You were all challenged and it was great to see you all put in a great effort. You were s ll posi ve at the end which is great to see and we know what we need to work on at training. Eddie Kuhl Tyres Award went to Vespa Sco for always working hard, listening and adjus ng. Encouragement award goes to Layla Hawke for her amazing driving and leads for the ball. 13 & Under: 14-63. We knew coming into this game it was going to be tough, however the girls gave it their very best for all 4 quarters. There were some great passages of play from the girls from a turnover all the way down the court. Unfortunately for us the Kalangadoo girls were a li le more experienced, but we will get there with focusing at training and taking what we learn onto the court. Beau ful game played by Sienna who played a great game in defence and Emma (Dycer Construc on Award) with being at both ends of the court and shot well. Well done girls, keep your head up. 15 & Under: 10-58. Great effort girls. Thank you to Shae and Maddy for benching. Defence worked well with good hands over each ball and some good rebounds. Cedar had the “not give up a tude” and Jasmine rolled well to defend each shot. Mid court found it hard to find space and coming in front. Zoe worked hard and re-offered all the way down the court. Shooters shot well but found it difficult at mes to find front posi on. Montana kept working hard and great talking on the court. Well done girls. Maloney Plumbing Award went to Cedar Sco and second best to Zoe Johnston. 17 & Under: 21-47. The scoreline did not reflect the way we played. We actually had a really good game, against some good opposi on. Zoe and Lilly played really well together in goals, moving and shoo ng well. Chelsea had a great game in GD, taking lots of intercepts, par cularly in the first half to earn herself best player (DeGaris Lawyers Award). You can get to heaps of those balls Chels, just have confidence! Lara played in centre all day and drove and hit the ball with lots of confidence to earn herself second best (KFC). Congratula ons to Zali who played her 50th game for Glencoe. Congratula ons and good luck to Zoe and Chelsea who are represen ng the MSENA at Country Champs in 15s and 17s respec vely - hope you have a great me.
B Reserve: 49-30. Bit wet for us but that didn't stop us from having our best game for the season so far. Everyone turned it up a notch and contributed 100%. Awesome feeding and pa ence in the goal circle from the a ackers. Bri absolutely smashed it and was by far the best on court earning the Key 2 Sale Award - you can see all the extra shoo ng prac ce is coming into play. The ever consistent Ange earned second best - great control and voice. Defence got so many rebounds and worked relessly for those turnovers which were capitalised on by the goalies. Well done girls! B Grade: 37-44. A disappoin ng loss. A er being ed up at 3/4 me, Kalangadoo came out firing in the final quarter and proved they wanted the win more than us. Plenty of posi ves to come out of the game but we now know what we need to work on. Our defensive trio were at it again with plenty of intercepts and touches. Chloe and Hayley also through the middle again with plenty of intercepts and driving the ball down the court. Silly li le mistakes meant we couldn't capitalise on the hard work of the defence. In the goal ring our accuracy really let us down and is something to work on along with ensuring we're being compe ve for rebounds. Planta on Treated Timber Award to Sally McDonnell and second best to Samantha Brierley both for a hard four quarters of defence. A Reserve: 30-45. Not exactly the result we were a er but with a few injuries and unwell people on court I think we all did a great job and kept figh ng un l the final whistle. Well done to Jessie on your first full game back in defence, you did a great job and combined well with Tameka against some tough opponents. When we were pa ent in a ack it looked good and we were able to feed the ball with ease. Congratula ons ladies on a fantas c first half of the year. Let’s stay focused, keep working hard and make sure we keep celebra ng the small wins as a team. Also special thanks to Tamara for scoring each week for us. B&P Travel and Cruise Award to Jessie Gosden and second best to Taitlyn Rothe. A Grade: 25-60. The end result definitely didn't reflect how close the game was, unfortunately some missed goals in the second half allowed Kalangadoo to extend their lead. Our first half of netball was great and was an indica on of the quality of netball we are able to play. We didn't have the smoothest start to the season with injuries and people being sick but hopefully the worst is behind us and we are able to get some solid wins in the second half of the season. O'Brien Electrical award to Laura Edwards and second best to Donna Jaeschke.

NETball club notes The Mount Burr Netball Club is proud to have Sam and Clark Fal ng, Igni on Fitness and Kimberly-Clark Australia (KCA) as major sponsors for the 2021 season. Junior 2: Last game of the first round girls and what an improvement you have made. It was great to see you using space and coming to the ball. Passing and looking forward are improving each week. It was great to see the outside arm being used in defence and intercepts down the court. Some great shoo ng in each quarter. Awards went to Alice (Fasta Pasta) and Emily (Toy Kingdom). Junior 1: Well done girls. A cold morning to be out on the court but despite that everyone tried their best to improve which helped score some great goals. We were down a few players, so a big thank you to Emily and Isabelle for filling in. Another thank you to Stacey for helping out in the second half. Awards went to Gemma (Acky's Takeaway) who gave 100% in each posi on she was put in, and Lexi (Andy's Bakery) who scored some great intercepts and had some great passages of play. 13 & Under: Well done girls, a much be er game to watch, in terrible weather. We found our players and that showed with bringing the ball down the court. Tilly, Holly and Kali combined well in the circle, with some great shoo ng and rebounded strongly. Kodie, Lola and Kaylah created lots of movement on the court, which created space to lead into. Great defence from Sara and Callie, turning the ball over with some mely intercepts. Kaylei made it hard for Robe to get their centre passes with pressure defence on the ball. Great job girls. Thanks to Jazmin for umpiring, Ka e for scoring and Stacey for ming. Awards went to Kodie (Toy Kingdom) and Kaylah (Donut King). 15 & Under: Fantas c game girls. We adjusted well to the circumstances which certainly shows what a versa le team we have. There were some great passages of play down court and amazing defence which created strong pressure and many turnovers. Awards went to Jemma (Acky's Deli) and Olivia Holland (Bowling). 17 & Under: An average day weather wise for a game of netball and condi ons we have been lucky enough not to play in so far this season. The wet condi ons made us have to really think about our a acking phase and highlighted the need for us to be doing prelim moves to come front to the ball. This is something we will con nue to work on throughout the rest of the season. It is great to see our voice out on court growing each week and this will only con nue to improve our overall game. Thanks to Clare for scoring and Laura for umpiring. Awards went to Jarrah (Carapace) and Kelsi (Java Café).
NETball club notes B Reserve: Well done girls, we started the game strongly and finished the same way. We brought the ball down the court with pa ent passing and allowing each other to come to the ball. Fantas c defence all over the court especially Bec and Breanna combing well in the circle, crea ng many turnovers for us. Hannah supported our defence with strong driving out and bringing the ball down court. Jazmin ran all day in the C and took lots of mely intercepts through the middle. Karen and Amy shot some great goals and your movement with each other in the circle is looking be er every week. Tess was strong holding her leads at our centre passes and fed our goalies with steady and accurate passes. Great job girls. A huge thanks to Mackenzie Job for si ng bench for us, also thanks to Sally for scoring and Georgia for ming. Awards went to Hannah (Caltex) and Jazmin (Boost Juice). B Grade: Great win for our team. Our passing and ming were so much be er. Great defensive pressure down court created many turnovers. Let's keep up the hard work ladies and I am sure we will get the wins. Mount Burr 35 defeated Robe 28. Awards went to Sally Mueller (Beachport Hotel) and Madi Bowering (Enchanted Beauty). A Reserve: Well done girls on the win in the horrible condi ons this week. A slow start in the first quarter had us working extra hard to take the lead in the first quarter. Adjus ng our game to suit the condi ons and conver ng the turnovers seen us slowly break away and finish with a 10 goal win. Ava played a dominant role in goals working hard for all four quarters with great accuracy winning herself the Millicent Chemist award. Faith's defensive pressure, strength and bravery won her the Boost Juice award, whilst Claudia's work through the midcourt, feeding into the goalies and her drive out of the C won her Caltex Award. A Grade: A strong start in the first quarter with a real taste of wintery condi ons. Our second quarter started very slow which enabled Robe to close the gap we had worked hard to gain in the first. Our defensive pressure picked up in the third to keep Robe to the lowestscoring quarter for the game. Thank you to Amy Hately for umpiring, Heidi for scoring, Amelia for Timing and Tanya for being the primary carer. Awards went to Layla Baker (Sassi) and Ebony Clark (Enchanted Beauty). The Mount Burr Netball Club would like to extend their congratula ons to Sara Smith who recently competed in the Division 1 SAPSASA Netball compe on where she and her team took out the premiership. Congratula ons on your efforts Sara, we are proud to have had you represent our club.
Junior 2: Great job last game in very wintery condi ons down at the Bay. It was great to have Holly back a er her injury taking heaps of intercepts and passing well to her teammates. Adele once again did a brilliant job s cking to her player. Isabelle with her awesome defending and Zayley got heaps of touches and chased the ball when she needed. Alyssa used her voice and moved to make space for others. Claire made space in the goal circle and converted them into goals. Lily did a great job of making space and calling for the ball. Zoe put her body on the line and took some awesome intercepts. Awards: Holly - The Bellum Hotel, Adele - Hungry Jacks and Alyssa - Telford family award. Junior 1: It was a tough game due to the weather condi ons but that didn’t stop the team from giving it their all. It was super impressive to watch everyone s ll give 110% effort, while using everything we have been learning and prac cing at training. Awards went to Lacy (Hungry Jacks) and Paige (Fasta Pasta). 13 & Under: Wet and slippery condi ons really put us to the test at Pt Mac. There were some really awesome patches of play girls and I think we are star ng to click well as a team. A couple of things noted for improvement but overall I very happy with the efforts of all players. Our score sheet was messy with interchanges, due to injuries and I'm thankful for the girls that took posi ons on the court that they usually don't play. Thanks to all. Awards: Ruby - $5 Mckinnon Cleaning voucher and Harmoni - Bellum Hotel. 15 & Under: Another hard game girls with another injury but you can all hold your heads high as you all played the game out to the end. Thank you Grace, Holly and Rahni for filling in. Awards: Jasmin - McKinnon family and Sophie - Hungry Jacks. 17 & Under: Very
disappoin ng result in the end. The weather didn't help as the girls had to play through some heavy rain and strong winds. Throughout the game there were many things that let us down like passing and leading to the ball but hopefully we can work on these basics at training and come back stronger. Awards: Isobel - Mckinnon Cleaning voucher, Taylah - Bellum Hotel. B Reserve: Bad luck girls. It wasn't our best game and we s ll have lots to work on. Don't worry about the score. Awards: Reanna - Lima and Co and Monique - Fasta Pasta. Also congratula ons to Reanna Baldwin receiving her 50 games last home game. B Grade: What a well fought game girls. The first half was hard with harsh weather which made it hard to flow down the court. By the 3rd quarter we got our flow back and started to close the gap. With amazing defence from Pt Mac it made it hard for our girls to get those balls in. At the end of the day it just wasn't enough to get ahead. Awards: Mahli - Boost Juice and Phoebe - Fasta Pasta. A Reserve: What a banging start to the game with great connec ons and voices! The defence worked hard all game with some great touches up and down the court. Working together to mo vate and react to changes around the court will see us capitalise on more turnovers. We will work hard over the break to come out strong next game. Awards: Rach Perry (Lima & Co) and Sarah Lucas (Birdie Blue). A Grade: We got off to a great start but failed to pull it together when we needed to. We had some great passages of play and managed to win the second quarter. We will need to focus hard and work as a team to find the win we are all looking for. Awards: Emily L - Lima and Co and Riley - Birdie Blue.

NETball club notes Junior 2: Wow what an awesome game girls, you did great, everyone played so well. We moved so well and caught the ball and passed quickly to our own players. We even used the circle to get in closer to the goals. It’s awesome to see you all improve every week in different areas. Keep it up girls. Penola Recycling went to Harper for moving well and shoo ng some great goals and McDonalds to Maddie for always leading well and good defence. Junior 1: What an excellent team effort li le Saints, you all played a fantas c game. We all had great defensive pressure down the whole court and lots of intercepts. I put you in different posi ons, which showed me you are all quite capable of playing anywhere. Great shoo ng by Darcy, Ella, Immy, James, Lucy and Paige. Great drive in C by Darcy, Ella, Paige and Ruby. Thank you Asha and Keelie for si ng bench. You've all improved so much since the start of the season. Enjoy the two weeks off. Best players Darcy - Pines Hotel, James - Nangwarry Serv-well. 13 & Under: Another great effort by all eight players. Big thank you to Ella and Analeigh for si ng bench again. Skye had another great game scoring 33 goals from 40 shots in two quarters and ge ng many turnovers. Madison con nues to impress and hold well plus scoring 29 from 49. Kiara returned to form scoring 21 from 30 and ran a half at centre gaining many intercep ons. Gemma played in many posi ons and gave her all in each one. She got many touches in defence and played brilliant at WA. Kaylee had a great game picking up all the loose balls and not le ng much go past her. CJ received many defensive touches and provided plenty of drive and great passes. CJ was awarded the McDonald's award. Holly is improving each week and again played a ght defensive game to earn herself the Fasta Pasta award. We are halfway through the season and I couldn't be happier with the results. Hopefully, we con nue to work hard and listen, so we improve further in the second half of the season. Enjoy the two weeks off and let's come out posi ve and confident against Hatherleigh. 17 & Under: Last round the girls played some good netball pu ng up a good fight but sadly it was our lack of talk on the court that let us down. We had good defensive pressure throughout the court which was good to see. We had some good passages down the court and our goalies worked well moving the ball in and around the circle leading to many scoring opportuni es. It was good to see the girls play as a team and focus
NETball club notes on the things we have been working on at training. Hold your heads high and come out and improve on the li le things because with me and more prac ce your games will improve. Thanks again to the girls that sat bench for us and the scorer and mer. Best players: Hungry Jacks - Alana Virgin, Athletes Foot - Montanna McKay. B Reserve: Although we did not get away with a win, it was by far the best game we have played this season. We are finally star ng to gel as a team and everyone finding their feet in their posi ons. There were many strong points throughout the court and Jayne played her best game so far. Being an op on and ge ng many intercepts. Tamara was strong in WA and fee into the circle well. Enjoy the break girls, I'm looking forward to the second half of the season. Bests were Jayne and Maxi. B Grade: All I can say is thank god the first half of the season is done and dusted as I am sure we must have crossed paths with some bad luck between torn hamstrings, damaged ankles, holidays, sore backs, and Victorian lock down we s ll have not played with a full team. Girls we are very unlucky to have not won a game yet as I feel we are a great team and have some real poten al. You have all contributed along the way and we are improving tremendously. Thank you for listening and doing as I ask, and I hope we can be rewarded soon. Skye and Jemma both had great games and were our best players. A Reserve: A be er game last round girls. When we start ge ng more consistent the wins will come more o en. Our first half was awesome but just struggled to keep it up last half. Our movement down court was great just need to be more direct with our passing. Keep working on it girls. Jens award went to Bri for con nuously working hard in defence, taking many intercepts. Good luck to Tahlia, we will miss you on the court. Let's start off the next round fresh with lots of encouragement. A Grade: We had a great start girls, even with some major changes we started to adjust to each other. When we are pa ent and play our game, it works so well. Awesome work Kristy and Ange for combining and moving well together for a first me. So many posi ves to come out of that game, everyone really played well wherever they were put so well done. Let’s see this round the improvement in our game when we come up against the teams again. Fasta Pasta went to Carly for her tenacious defence play and drive - well done. Let’s really give the teams a good tussle again this round.
Junior 2: The li le Eagles were excited and keen to get out on the court against Tantanoola. They started out with strong leads and were using their voice down the court. Hazel and Kirby were proving a great combo in goals, dodging and cu ng base to get a good shot at goal. Maggie was ge ng her fingers to lots of balls down the court, reading the play well. Paige and Harper were consistent on the wing, passing strongly and reoffering. Mollie and Leyla were ght in defence, very li le ge ng through to the goalies and intercep ng strong. A very confident game from the team, pleasing to see them running into clear space and working together. Mollie received the Java award, Kirby received the Ladies Commi ee and Leyla got the Maccas. Junior 1: Another super game from our li le Eagles. Lots of intercepts making Tant work hard to get the ball in to their a ack line. Our li le Eagles worked well making great choices and crea ng space all the way down the court. Each and every one of the girls played in front and all their hard work at training prac sing their dodging is paying off. The team morale and encouragement to each other is beau ful and heartwarming to see. Keep backing each other up and working hard li le legends! Thanks to Mel for being primary carer and to Hazel for filling in. Hatherleigh Ladies Commi ee award: Livvi Faulkner, Macca's award: Olivia Beggs. 13 & Under: A good win in very challenging condi ons at Tantanoola with the final score 39-2. Our contested ball work was strong with no easy transi on for the opposi on. Making sure that we score from our hard earned turnovers by always having 2 op ons when a acking and adhering to the footwork rules will remain a focus. Good luck to Alex and Kalli as they represent our club as part of the Mid South East team at Country Champs on the long weekend. Ladies commi ee awards - Sylvie and Leni. 15 & Under: In wet cold condi ons we held on to take the points. We need to remember when playing in those condi ons we need to have lots of short passes and make sure we work the ball to get close to the post before shoo ng. No one likes to be a shooter in that weather and it's not an easy job and even the best goalies will miss!, so we defensively need to li the work rate to turn balls back to give extra opportuni es. HLC - Bella who was great at both ends once again and Java - Eva who played on a much taller opponent and tried really hard to get turnovers. 17 & Under: We had a bit of a scrappy start to the game under the wild weather condi ons. It took us a couple of centre passes and fumbled balls to get our groove. Jasmyne intensively drove the ball up and down the court, feeding well into the circle with Demi who was there for back up whenever it was needed. Our defence were strong once again, Elly, Bella, Indi and Laura gave it there all which resulted in countless turnovers and rebounds. The a acking end presented well, Lacey and Dakota moving and shoo ng very well, having full control of the goal third. Thank you to Bella, Indi and Tori for si ng bench for us! Best players: Elly Redden (Millicent Chemist), Jasmyne Bellinger (Ladies Commi ee). B Reserve: The weather didn't stop us from playing one of our be er games. We started the game wan ng the ball and even though in patches throughout the game we s ll played behind and didn't meet the ball there was lots of good passages of play. Our passes were a lot be er. Niah Faulkner come up from 15's
to play GA with Indi in the first half and you would have thought they had played lots of netball together, both pu ng up some great shots and rebounding strongly. Michelle stepped into GA for the second half and also shot well. Sally had another strong game in C for the first half and Jaz came on at half me and once again rose to the occasion taking many intercep ons. Amy once again gave her all un l she came off in the last quarter with a dislocated finger that made the coach cringe! Meg stepped in to finish the quarter. Staci and Fee once again fought really hard in defence both rebounding strongly. Our team is saying goodbye to Hannah soon as she follows her dream and we all wish her much happiness. Thank you to Meg for si ng bench, Nic for scoring and Kerry as primary carer. Caltex award: Indi Marshall, Somerset Hotel: Staci Faulkner, Gino’s Pizza award: Niah Faulkner and Jaz Bellinger, HSRC award: Fee Jackman. B Grade: We knew this was never going to be an easy game and with the wet courts and wind we knew we would have to adapt to a shorter game. We started really well and led at every quarter but our last quarter was a shocker. Scoring only 5 goals to Tant’s 12 was our undoing. Our defensive end turned the ball over for us but we made to many silly passing errors and crowded our mid court and a ack line which made it easier for Tant to intercept the ball. We know we can match it with the best but we need to be able to play 4 good quarters. We now have a week off, let’s enjoy it but remember that our fitness plays a part in this game and our shoo ng percentages need to increase. A Reserve: We started well against Tantanoola, keeping the ball short and adjus ng to the wet condi ons. The game was going goal for goal and we were pa ent with possession, looking for the best op ons. We dropped off in the second with some basic skill errors as Tant increased their workrate. The third and fourth were ght, with goalies at both ends ge ng on top of their defences. Abby was holding well and mid court were delivering strongly. Lucy Chant played a solid game in defence, determined to go for all opportuni es and keeping her opponent accountable. Demi and Marnie worked hard as always, picking up rebounds and loose balls. However it was Tant that go their nose in front by 5, as we let the game go with too many turnovers. Some pleasing passages of play, but s ll work to do to put 4 quarters together. Gino's Pizza award: Demi Vanderhorst, Kelsey Wight Fitness award: Lucy Chant, Somerset Hotel award: Helen Hamilton. A Grade: It's never an easy game against Tant, it was a hard, strong, physical game from the first whistle, I’m really happy with the way we rode the storm and for the majority of the game stuck to our game. Lacey played a super mature game in goals and Maddie P stepped up and played one of her best games for the season. Sarah F was her usual tenacious self and worked hard for 60 minutes. Sarah B and Maddie R are working well together and Tegz and Larz were their usual reliable selves. We s ll had a few brain fades and got caught up in the moment at mes but overall our defensive pressure was good and we showed great pa ence in a ack. Somerset award: Maddie P, Since-Fi y-Six award: Sarah F, HSRC award: Maddie R. Congrats again to Sarah F on 300 games. Thanks to Dakota and Helen for si ng bench, Sam for scoring and thanks to Liss and Bec for umpiring.

NETball club notes Junior 2: Well done J2s. We try 100% right un l the end no ma er what. We had some great turnovers but we s ll need to work on always being in front and our passing. Awards went to Pippa (Hungry Jacks) for mul ple intercepts and to Neveah (Maccas) for her brilliant defence and hunger for that ball. Special men on to Polly, what a fantas c goal, your prac ce is paying off! Junior 1: It was difficult condi ons, but the girls had some great areas of play. They applied pressure to both ends of the court and are demonstra ng growth and understanding of posi ons with each week that approaches. Well done girls. You should be proud of your efforts, con nue to be posi ve and support your teammates. Hungry Jacks Encouragement Award: Emie Mason. 13 & Under: What a wet day we had for netball against Hatherleigh. The girls came out strong and con nued to give it their all throughout the game. Defence was strong this game as we got loads of intercepts and rebounds in the ring. We had great leads and tried hard to come in front however we just need to focus on finding the clear space. The girls had some talk on the court to encourage others however this is something we will need to work on more so we can see who is free. Another great game girls, so proud of how much improvement you are showing each week. Keep playing your game and having fun. Zali Reilly was awarded the Hungry Jacks award for her amazing effort at GK. 15 & Under: Last game for the round, we have won some and lost some. Our movement since the start of the year has improved greatly. Our team has been able to adjust to posi onal changes made. We had a loss but we didn't let the other team win without a fight. Great effort by all. Let's see if we can con nue to improve as a team and give the second round our all. Fasta Pasta award Ebony Cytrowski and KFC award Tameisha Walker. 17 & Under: We all set goals to achieve at the start of the game, unfortunately we couldn't reach them or adapt to the weather condi ons. We needed to come front and use strong hands however the condi ons were not in our favour. We all adapted to the posi on changes and worked everyone into the game. Madi and Keelie worked well in goals however we need to learn to not bounce a wet ball into a puddle.
NETball club notes The KFC award went to Tayla for her strong drive out of defence and s cking to her goal of pulling those loose balls in. B Reserve: We started off strong but quickly let the bad weather get to us. While there were some strong passages of play down the court, there were a lot of loose balls not chased up and missed opportuni es. We need to work on coming forward and mee ng the ball. We have been working really hard at training, just now have to remember to implement it on game day. Good work to our defenders for working hard all game, the Sassi voucher went to Kim and Darcy took the McCourts voucher home. B Grade: What a great game ladies! We knew it was going to be a tough one without the weather condi ons that we had to play in so had to be at the top of our game. The lead was up and down with neither team able to take a commanding lead. Our third quarter saw us drop in intensity to be down by 4 goals going into the last but we came out determined, chasing up loose balls, working hard for each other and staying posi ve coming away 3 goal victors! Fantas c effort. A Reserve: Another tough game, very tough condi ons but we managed to s ck to our game plan and come away with the win! It was very much a defender's game/day with the weather, however all of you played defensively all down the court which was so good to see, and even be er when we were able to capitalise in a ack! Tough day for the goalies, definitely our pa ence was key on the weekend! George and Kristy I thought you both had cracking games, the pressure on their a ack allowed balls to be turned over on numerous occasions either by forced errors or simply deflected by our girls so well done ladies! Larns, I thought you had a ripper in at WA, your control and ability to let the ball go was outstanding and really allowed the girls to ensure that we were taking those 1 percenter shots on such a day! Great work ladies. Best players Georgia Clarke and Kelsey Widdison. A Grade: Bad luck girls. Not the result we wanted but we definitely could of had it. Lots of things to take from it and learn from our errors. It's definitely a winnable game. Let's keep working hard at training and get back those losses next me. Vic and Casey both had a solid game with Vic taking home Chelsea Feast award.
Junior 2: Half way through the season already... A very cold start for the girls, awesome effort to them all for ge ng out there in the cold and not giving up (even if they wanted to). We were down to 7 so they all did a fantas c job to keep going. Great moving throughout the court and some great passes. Incen ve (canteen voucher) went to Alexis Roach for her great work in defence. Their shooters were quite good and she kept going even ge ng a few of the rebounds. Junior 1: I thought you all played a great team game working and suppor ng each other well. We were lucky enough to get our game in before it rained which you were all happy about. Tess: Played a great team game and con nues each week to improve. Holly: Defended very well making it difficult for her opponent. Saskia: It's Saskia's 1st season and we are loving her enthusiasm on Saturdays. Poppy: Was our quiet achiever and was happy to play anywhere. Lacey: Darts here and there for the quick intercept and has a go at everything. Milla: Read the play very well and managed to tap away a few of their passes. Tilly: Always with your eye for the ball made you an awesome back up and eager to get the loose balls. Siarrah: Your height makes you a good defender and it's great to see your confidence grow each week. Mackenzie: It was a rough game for you, but you gave it your best shot and played a ripper ge ng the incen ve, well done. Enjoy a week off girls with the bye. 13 & Under: Mt Burr 36 Robe 9. What a cold and wet day for netball! This wasn't one of best games for the season but the unpredictable weather made it very hard to drive and stay quick on our feet. We will con nue to work on coming in front for the ball and not calling for the ball as we are running away. Best player (Salubrious Hour) went to Maddi Varga for her persistence and reless work wherever she played. Hannah got the incen ve (The Project) for listening and trying to prac ce skills that we have been working on. 15 & Under: Mt Burr 66 Robe 23. Not a bad game overall - only a dip in work rate for the second quarter. Our Tilly had an epic stack/slide like she was doing the worm and even though the team manager bandaged her 7 layers deep, the claret s ll seeped through. Jenna had her first crack at centre, and most had a turn warming the bench. The girls are all growing in confidence against stronger sides, and we set our own targets. The goals might have eluded us, but we did get those turnovers we were chasing. Best player (Steve's Place) to Georgie Wirth for work rate and incen ve (Robe Seafood & Takeaway) went to Emily Dew who did great in defence. 17 & Under: Mt Burr 43 Robe 28. A classic Burr day with the weather but you came off the court with good spirits. Although a win is always nice that wasn't our goal. We set out to have an inclusive team game and to support each other with posi ve talk and I think we did just that. With 3 of our regular players away you were all put under pressure to adjust your play in different posi ons and push out the 4 quarters. Hats off to Billie who had been sick all week and s ll pushed out 2 quarters in centre and finished off the game strong
in defence. Last quarter we had a mix up quarter and changed around posi ons which with the road ahead to finals was our last opportunity to do so. This game wasn't unachievable for us however I did not want to push you girls to your break points to achieve the win, we know next me we will be stronger and in a be er posi on to give the Burr a real crack. Thank you to Ruby for filling in for us, you slo ed in well into our a ack line and I'm sure the girls loved having you back for a game. Best player (The Union) went to Maddie Wirth who had a cracker game in both defence and a ack - you definitely ruffled the goalies feathers in the first half, was great to watch! Sienna Brooks took out incen ve (The Project) for her con nuous efforts in WA and pu ng in place skills we've been working on at training. B Reserve: Mt Burr 48 Robe 25. Wet, wet, wet. Very slippery when wet. That summed our game up and tbh the game was played gingerly as a result. Al again stood up for us to win Calcu a (Loaves & Fishes), and incen ve (The Project) went to Rhiannon. You are improving on a weekly basis Rhi in goals but you also shone because you had a fair crack in GK. Ups and downs for the rest of us which is how we rolled. Halfway through with more to prove I reckon. B Grade: Mt Burr 35 Robe 28. Another close game for us girls and unfortunately we weren't able to get the win, but we only lost by a small margin. I was so impressed that every player gave 100% for the en rety of the game. It was a cold and wet day at the Burr so some basic skill errors proved costly. We need to keep improving on our passing accuracy and trying to get a hand to rebounds and passes. Calcu a (Coastal Club) went to Marley in goals, once again shoo ng accurately. Incen ve (Hairport) went to Bai in WA, she made strong leads and passed well to the girls in the ring. Let's all keep turning up to training and making li le improvements as we go along to hopefully get a few more wins in the second half of the season. A Reserve: Mt Burr 31 Robe 21. Again, not a bad game but we just couldn't quite pull through. Lots of posi ve patches throughout the game however just not consistent enough to bring home a win. Silly passes and flat leads probably let us down the most. Looking forward to round 2, now that we have a se led team, hopefully we can bring home some wins like we are capable of! Jade had a consistent and controlled game through the centre which got her the Calcu a (Mahalia Coffee) and Shelby held strong, directed and shot confidently to earn her the incen ve (The Pastry Place). A Grade: Mt Burr 46 Robe 33. We knew we had a tough game ahead of us, but we stepped up with confidence. We had a slow start and let Mt Burr get the jump on us early. However, a er taking half the quarter to adjust to the wet and slippery condi ons, we pegged them back to a more even contest. During the second quarter we pegged it back to even with some great shoo ng and moving by Tori in the circle. Georgia moved to WD, picking off lots of balls. We ended up going down by 13, which was a great effort against a quality team. Calcu a (Salubrious Hour) went to Georgia and Incen ve (The Project) went to Sarah.
ROUND 9 A GRADE NETBALL REVIEW PORT MACDONNELL v KONGORONG A very wet and slippery start in what was incredibly torren al condi ons. Port Mac started off strong, ge ng the first 4 goals on the board. Kongorong then got some turnovers and were down by 6 at quarter me. Kongorong then made changes to both the a ack and defence line, gaining on Port Mac, out scoring them by 2 in the second quarter. Port Mac made their changes at half me swapping Lisa McGregor and Morgan Amy in defence. Kongorong changed Sam Fox and Sarah Beare hoping to improve drive through the mid court. Port Mac con nued strongly and found consistency in the 3rd quarter leading by 8 at the break. Both teams con nued with their teams into the last quarter with Port Mac finishing strongly winning the game by 16. KALANGADOO v GLENCOE In wet condi ons, Kalangadoo hosted Glencoe in the annual Indigenous Round. Both teams tussled through the first quarter, with great defensive efforts from both teams, crea ng many turnovers and Jane Auld and Ashlea Edwards feeding beau fully into the circle. In the second quarter the Kalangadoo defence of Chloe Pra , Mikaila Pi and Chelsea Croser stepped it up giving the Kalangadoo goalies many opportuni es to convert, as the slippery condi ons made it difficult for both teams to get into a good rhythm. Kalangadoo went into the first half with a ten goal lead. Glencoe made some changes at half me which saw Emily Thompson moved from goal keeper to goal shooter which created a new defensive line up with Rebecca Edwards moving into goal defence and Sarah Edwards replacing Thompson at goal keeper. Laura Edwards worked hard outside the circle and created many angles for Glencoe in their scoring opportuni es. The final quarter saw Kalangadoo's Melissa Russell and Abbey Duncan dominate the goal circle, combining well and shoo ng at a high percentage to increase the final margin to 35. At the conclusion of the match
Kalangadoo's Chloe Pra was awarded the Brennan Family Indigenous Medal. Final score Kalangadoo 60 defeated Glencoe 25. Best players: Kalangadoo - Jane Auld and Chloe Pra ; Glencoe - Laura Edwards and Donna Jaescke. TANTANOOLA v HATHERLEIGH Wet and windy condi ons guaranteed a scrappy start to Tantanoola’s home game hos ng Hatherleigh. Hath got the upper hand in the star ng minutes with Maddie Pulmer and Lacey Haines conver ng the first 3 goals of the match. The rest of the quarter saw a ght ba le all over the court but Hatherleigh finished the quarter up by 4. Hath 14 - Tant 10. Both teams adjusted to the weather heading into the second quarter with some strong contested leads and takes by both centres Vic Lucas from Tant and Sarah Faulkner for Hath, in what may have been the match up of the day. The quarter went goal for goal with no team able to make up any ground on the scoreboard heading into half me. Score Hath 25 - Tant 21. Tantanoola’s Casey Walker came out strong at WA in the third quarter and showed some pa ence feeding the ball with precision to Emma Gould who shot 13 goals for the term. At the opposite wing Hatherleigh’s Tegan Merret stood out with her agility and speed hi ng the ring with plenty of space. Tant managed to peg a few back and ended the quarter 1 down. Score Hath 36 - Tant 35. The final term started ght as expected a er a strongly contested match all day, but Hatherleigh’s circle defenders Sarah Broadhead and Maddie Redman stood up and showed more aggression taking vital intercepts when they needed them. Hatherleigh proved too strong in the end pulling away by another 4 goals to end the game 5 up. Final score Hath 50 - Tant 45. MOUNT BURR v ROBE Mount Burr started strong despite the wet weather scoring the first 8 goals of the game before Robe hit the scoreboard. Robe’s Keryn Moore and Asha Pe t had their work cut out for them as Mount Burr's Laura Schultz, Ann Guye and Layla Baker
showed great intensity and pressure down court causing many turnovers. Mount Burr goalies Ebony Clark and Sarah Nulty were able to capitalise and convert on the scoreboard. Robe answered back with defenders Alannah Campbell and Georgia Perkins gaining momentum, leading Robe to a strong finish to the first quarter. Mount Burr entered the first break leading 13-7. Mount Burr started the second with a change of Laura Schultz into the C and Layla Baker into WA. Robe carried their momentum from the first quarter into the second scoring the first goal. Robe’s defensive line con nued to work relessly, with WD Sammy Telfer and GD Alannah Campbell's defensive pressure crea ng many opportuni es for Robe to gain possession and transi on down court. Robe’s goalies Sarah Laurie and Tori Gluyas hit their stride and converted on all opportuni es given to them making it difficult for defenders Heidi Clark and Madi Hagge . Mount Burr's a ack line se led late in the second quarter and began to find form in their a acking combina ons. This quarter remained mostly even with Mount Burr leading at half me 26-19. Robe con nued to fight in the third quarter, upping their pressure around their defensive circle and making it difficult for Mount Burr's C Laura Schultz and WA Layla Baker to feed their goalies. Despite the start of the third quarter going goal for goal, Mount Burr’s defenders Madi Hagge , Heidi Clark and Ann Guye worked relessly to create turnovers that their goalies could capitalise on. Mount Burr built on their lead in this quarter leading 37-25. The last quarter started with changes made to both sides. Robe brought on Kimberly Au n into GK and Mount Burr’s Sophie Wallis entered the game at WD. Both players immediately made an impact on the game. Mount Burr’s defensive pressure li ed, forcing Robe’s a ack line to have to play back to the line on numerous occasions. However, Mount Burr's Sarah Nulty found her range in the goal circle and was able to convert on all opportuni es given to her. Both teams finished strong but Mount Burr were able to hold onto the lead winning the match 46-33.
