football club notes seniors

Junior Colts: Sadly I wasn't there for this game. I was told by the coach who was filling in that the boys competed hard unl the final siren despite the score. Best on was Jacko, Sonny, Eli, Hunter and Reed. Thanks to Taylor for filling in while I was away and Kim for doing his usual team manager stuff as well as extra to help Tay. Looking forward to seeing the boys back at home again this week.

Senior Colts: What a ripping display of senior colts football between the 2 teams fighng out for top spot. Glencoe were off to a good start holding the lead at quarter and half me before the Burr boys got on top in the 3rd. In a thrilling final term Glencoe were able to fight back and have the last shot of the game which hit the post to see a draw as the final result. A hard fought game by both teams who should all be proud of their efforts for their

clubs.

B Grade: Another beauful day at Mt Burr for the game against Glencoe. From the first quarter it was clear that there was going to be very lile between the two teams as the game was fiercely contested. We went in down by 2 points at half me but then used the scoring end well to hold a small lead at the final change. In the last quarter we had a lot of the footy and just couldn’t capitalise in front of goal. Glencoe ended up snapping a goal from the boundary just before the siren to level the scores. While it wasn’t the result we were aer, there were sll lots of posives to take away from the game. Best players were our skipper Ed

Ballantyne, Noah Telfer (in game number 50), Je Bowering, Mark Teagle and Bailey Poulish.

A Grade: Congratulaons to Josh Wallis on playing his 200th senior game for the club. The ulmate warrior and the best team mate you could ask for. Although we didn’t quite get the four quarter performance we were looking for, we certainly had some really good patches. There were sll some lapses where our intensity seemed to drop off which invited some scoring opons for Glencoe. This is an area we are sll trying to work on but we are bridging the gap for how long they are. Our second quarter really set us up with some constant pressure around the ball which allowed us to get on the outside and use our run and give our forwards a chance to score. Was pleasing to see we could maintain that momentum into the second half which allowed us to hold that handy lead we had set up. Special menon to Geordie Whennen who I thought played his best game for the club.

A rough day last week as we went seaside to play the Bay. An amazing display of the teamwork throughout our sides, as our Senior Colts & B Grade players stepped up to help.

Our condolences to the Miller/Feast Family on the incredibly sad loss of Jack. Each player wore the black arm band in honour of an amazing man.

Under 11: The young Hawks came out firing aer a week off and Port Mac certainly turned on the weather Thank you to Port Mac for making it even teams, which made for great viewing by the spectators. We had a lot of good passages of play down the ground with big long kicks and overhead marks. Awards went to Toby Telford (Intersport), Cooper Jenkin (Presidents Award), Coby Brant (Coaches Award), Hardy Nicholas (Club Award), Ted Ellis (Brant Family Award) and Judd Buntsma (Donut King).

Junior Colts: We travelled down the road to Port Mac to play a tough opponent. We started off well geng the first forward entry of the day but unfortunately couldn't match the speed and skill of a well organised team. It will take me, but I want the kids to get the confidence to aack the footy without the fear of geng hurt. Only a couple of kids can take the game on and get the footy, but they need help. So hopefully, in me, they can conquer their fear and win the footy. I want our team to play good team footy, share the ball around and encourage each other as we all grow our skills. Awards went to Angus Maidment, Koby Galloway, Zavier Hunt, Noah von Stanke-Dowie, Havana Beard, Arabella Huynh.

Senior Colts: Round 9 saw us field an almost full squad for the first me this season in great condions for football. Playing only our second game in 5 weeks there was a lile bit of rust and we struggled to be clean around the contest early. Our young mids baled hard and were given first use out of the ruck but the stronger opposion bodies were able to break our tackles and run forward in waves, outnumbering us at the contest and making life difficult for our defenders who baled hard all day. Despite the one way traffic, we had a number of posive passages of play and showed an ability to play at different speeds, recognising when to control the game and when to go fast. The connued development of this young group is excing and we look forward to the second half of the season and

challenging ourselves against everyone all over again. Awards went to Cohen Galpin (Coaches Award), Kain Ashby (Badenochs Deli), Jobe Janeway (Mick Mullan), Toby McKinnon (DA’Leni Meats), Logan Cordy (MT Wheels) and Jai Hillstone (Mahew’s Petroleum).

B Grade: Important game for a number of reasons against the Bay. Although we didn’t get the result on the scoreboard, once again our young guys did the club extremely proud. The way they are stepping up and contribung is a credit to them. The senior boys are geng real enjoyment out of helping them out as well. Hard fought game and we didn’t once throw in the towel. Huge congratulaons to Jackson Bald on his first senior game, he showed he has a big future. Also to the club’s sex symbol Frosty for his 50th club game, well done mate, you are a great teammate and played a great game. Michael Waters, Jusn Telford (in his first game in 18 years), Mark Paech, Drew Paerson (senior colt), Adam Prosperi Porta and Pumba Farrell were our award winners. Thanks as always to BCF, Collins Court Butchers, Pick Avenue Deli and the club for sponsoring the awards.

A Grade: Coming into the game the boys seemed a bit flat and it showed the first half with the boys being reacve instead of proacve. Aer half me it had a different feel and the boys were quick to roll into structures and lock the ball in forward with defensive pressure, which in turn allowed them to hit the scoreboard. The last quarter started quite well but as the game carried on the legs got heavy and the Bay ran away with it. Some promising signs from our young fellas with Toby McKinnon having his first crack in the A Grade and holding his own. Ryan Lucas's game aer half me put his stamp on the game. Young Harrison Elletson running and compeng very well down the wings and geng good use with it. Blake Telford got his hands on it as well as taking a few big hits but carrying on and digging in. A lot of cramp issues towards the end as well as us having no bench made it difficult. Well done boys on fighng it out. Just a reminder that our Hypnost Night is this weekend. Don’t miss out as it will be a great night! Bring on the second round as we take on Mt Burr. As always, Carn’ the Hawks!

HATHERLEIGH EAGLES

Junior Colts: Once again it was another great day for footy at Hatherleigh with a tough match expected against Tant. Despite our boys being a bit scratchy aer the bye, Tant deserve credit for a compeve game. It was a ght tussle for 3 quarters with the ball going up and down the ground and scoring was hard work. It wasn't unl the last quarter that we were able to really pull away for a good win. Tommy Atkinson again put in a solid performance, mainly down back but also in the pivot. He won the half back line and set up the play up well. Tait Gregec was important and excellent early when the game was ght. His determinaon in the midfield was excellent, winning the ball and geng it forward at all costs. Paddy Fitzgerald again was excellent at half back where he posioned himself well, took plenty of intercept marks to start the play forward. Alex Sutherland had his best game of the year in the back pocket. He also did a really good job at intercepng forward movements and winning the ball. Caine Ballantyne did a great job at stepping into the ruck for 3 quarters due to injury to Paddy McGrath. He did what was needed and kept the midfield compeve. This week brings another home game against Glencoe. At the halfway mark of the year the team is performing well and should be happy with their progress. Hopefully the second half of the year will connue in the same trend. Finally, commiseraons to the Skeer family on the passing of Lance

Skeer last week. We wore black armbands to honour the long standing Hatherleigh local.

Senior Colts: Last game of the round we came up against a good senior colt side in Tant. The first half was quite compeve, but the second half the boys connued strong and finished off a good 4 qtr game which I'm proud about and ended up winning by 14 goals. Best players were, 5th best the Pete Walter's award went to Jason Saunders. 4th best the Ladies Commiee award went to Ethan Marshall. 3rd best the Ginos Pizza award went to Riley Haines. 2nd best the Stumpy award went to Charlie Sims. 1st best the Dentons SportsPower Award went to James Solomon. Thanks to all volunteers on geng us through this first round, me to crack into the back half of the year!

No dogs at the Glencoe Football Netball Club – thank you for your co-operaon.

Congratulaons to Jack Edmonds, playing his 50th A Grade game today. Well done Jack, you have become and integral member of our Senior side and always giving his all and contesng fiercely.

Under 11: Thank you to Hugh and Courtney from Lico Logset for supplying helmets to the U11 kids. Plenty of room saw some good footy played. Connually improving week to week.

junior colts

Junior Colts: We came to Mount Burr needing the four points to keep up with the top four and we started the game hot with Hamish slong the first from 50, sparking the boys. Hamish led from the front and was ably assisted by Harley both kicking 4. Annabell connued her solid season with Harrison and Hunter also playing well.

Senior Colts: Top of the table clash was set to be a great game. A bit of dew hanging around made it more difficult than it needed to be. Mt Burr kicked the first couple before we capitalised on our opportunies gaining a 8 point break at half me. Mount Burr wrestled the momentum back and hit the lead at the last change of ends. We again got on top and had some chances with Dan F kicking some crucial set shots. With only seconds to go big Brodie crumbed a pack and had a franc snap, while the crowd held its breath a Stephen Milne bounce crashed into the goal post and the siren sounded ending the game a draw! We were well served by Tighe, Dan, Tyler, Pat, Tom and Lachy

Reserves: A side depleted by injury and unavailability was propped up by keen Senior Colts. We had a ght tussle with the half me difference being our way by two points. We lost Harry aer the first quarter as he was required to step up and play Seniors. The last quarter went down to the wire once again with young colt Dan F having ice in his veins kicking his first senior goal from the boundary with 10 seconds to go. This levelled the scores and ulmately resulng in back to back draws for the day Best were Brody A in some great form, Jake B back again, skipper Jason, Hiroki taking the game on, colt Kaleb and experienced playmaker Jayson.

Seniors: There was an opportunity to take a scalp above us and we missed the mark. A few injuries and guys unavailable but that only provides an opportunity for someone else to step up. The first quarter was ght with pressure being laid from all players backing their teammates up. Second quarter we got put under the pump, adding some undisciplined remarks saw us loose our way going down 9 goals to 2. Being 51 points down at half me we had to go back to playing one on one football. We steadied the game to 4 goals apiece in the third. We conceded a couple more in the fourth to go down by 72 points. Disappoinng given I thought we had the team to defeat them. Congratulaons to Tighe H playing his first Senior game alongside his bother Declan. He kicked a great set shot from the boundary where all players got around him. Best were colts Kallan, first gamer Tighe and Lachy. Henry competed well in the ruck, Alex sloed 5 and defender Will rounded out the best.

See you all at Hatherleigh for the MND fundraiser. Make sure to support Dasher, Steam and Ted who will be plunged into the Big Freeze.

ROBE ROOSTERS

Senior Colts: We played Hatherleigh at home and with great weather we were looking forward to a good contest but once again we were hampered by injuries and players away, with our 2 junior colts coming up and Hatherleigh lending us a player we had 17. To our credit the boys played well and were compeve for most of the game to eventually go down by 76 points which didn't really reflect how the game was played. Best were Nato, Archie, Seb, John and Flynn with the incenves to Flynn and Byron. Now with a couple of weeks off let's see if we can put some wins on the board in the second half of the season. Leroy

A Grade: A huge crowd at RFC on a cracking first day of winter saw the Roosters go down to the Eagles by 13 points. The game was ght all through the first 3 quarters, with the biggest margin just 5 points. Both teams pressure was elite, the ball carrier had to be quick and make the right decisions going forward. Hatherleigh’s last quarter proved to be the difference, with mulple forward entries overcoming our back 6 who again had been solid all day. Tom Woka and captain Henry were terrific once again, running all day and providing second efforts. Ben Dinning also connued his great form with his run and carry. Sam Bates was at his best kicking 3 quality goals with Sam Thomson chiming in with 2. Joely Bryant led and presented all day and Patrick Mathews’ forward pressure and tackling

was fantasc all day. Congratulaons to Ash and the girls for their successful ladies day. The old booth and hill looked unreal and I’m sure everyone had a great day up there. We have a fortnight off now to collect our thoughts and rest up. We’re back on deck with a home game at Robe on 22nd of June.

TANTANOOLA TIGERS

Some great events coming up at the club this season so check out our Social Calendar around the club and on Facebook.

We would like to make a special menon to our Silver sponsors –Café Melzar, Gildera Forestry Services, JKM Maintenance & Labour Hire, Nutrien Ag Soluons, Professional Wind Services, Quickmix, Millicent Windows and Doors, Glen Johnson Bowen, Dentons Sport Power, Splendid Eggs, Telf's Plumbing, Brandt and Skookum Technology. Gold sponsors – Moreland Holdings, The Property Co SA and Globe Hotel. Corporate sponsors – Holla Fresh, Iberdrola, Somerset Hotel and Tiger Hotel.

Junior Colts: Last week the boys came up against the second spot Hatherleigh on their home turf and from the first bounce you could tell the boys wanted this big scalp and for 3 quarters we gave it to them but unfortunately a sloppy last quarter let the hosts kick home, unlucky but on to the next game at Robe and another shot to get back on the winners list. Best players were Summer Batchelor, Jayden Hunter, Charlie Bromley, Jack Rowe and Jedd Hardingham with Maxx Bevan and Zac Chapple kicking a goal each.

Senior Colts: On another good day for footy we travelled to Hatherleigh to come up against a team we thought we could match it with. From start to finish we were completely outclassed by a team that were willing to work harder than us and play team football. A bit of hard work on the track is required for us to be compeve in the second half of the year. Off to Robe this week, a side we beat in round 1. Best Braydn, Simmo, Longy, Jake and Boata. Well done Jake on your first A grade game, well deserved.

Reserves: Last week we headed to Hatherleigh and the B grade

came up against a strong Hatherleigh ouit. We were a bit undermanned with key players missing across each line, mainly through injury which has hit the club hard in the last few weeks. The scoreboard wasn't a true reflecon of the game, the boys baled really hard and didn't give up at any stage. We got smashed in the centre bounce clearances, so a lot of the game was played in Hatherleigh's forward half. Once we were able to break through and hit our forward line we looked quite dangerous. Heads up lads, keep working on our game and the things we can control. Our best players were Ma Nelson, Blake McKee, Hamish Thomson, Marky Bell and Jake Bromley.

A Grade: Playing Hatherleigh last week at their home ground we looked forward to the challenge. No expectaons we just wanted to work on everything we have been doing on the track. All day we wanted to be posive as a group and give effort for all 4 quarters. Hatherleigh being the slick unit they are with a lot of good players are definitely a class above everyone in the league. But I do truly think some of our passages of plays against the top side really showed promise and the fact we could walk off saying that and our effort was there the whole game is great to be a part of. Highlight of the day was Jakey Bevan kicking 2 goals in his first A grade game as a 15 year old was super excing and a great moment to be a part of. Best players: Jack Dawe, Jack Cytrowski, James McDonald, Troy Ha, Cade Kelly and Jack Dawe. www.tantanoolafootballclub. sporngpulse.net

football club notes

With a few weeks off for the bye & interleague it was great to be back into footy mode as we headed to Nangwarry to take on the Saints in the last game of the home & away round.

Well done to all the players who represented the club at the interleague carnival – Axel Page in the winning U15's side, Nato in U17's, Tye, Sammy, Connor & Captain Jaggs in the Seniors. And Toota once again invited to represent the club & league in the inial Country Champs squad.

Thanks goes to our junior game day sponsors - Autocare Mt Gambier, Rarcoola Structural, The Rocks Shop, MT Wheels & 3MP as game day sponsors and weekly award sponsors in – The Roadhouse, Country Atude, Spot On, Bunnings, Aussie Disposals, Sorrentos, OK Pie Shop, KD's Deli, Intersport, Donut King, Wendy's, McDonalds, Compton Street Bakers Delight & Boost Juice and Killara Food Court sponsoring our weekly junior club encouragement award.

Under 11: With Nangwarry being short on numbers Boxy and his crew of helpers sll made sure there was a game for everyone to be involved in with the Auskickers being separated from U11's and everyone geng plenty of the ball in both games. A huge thank you to our game day awards sponsors in Wendys, McDonalds, Donut King & Compton Street Bakers Delight with the awards going to Tall Ollie, Bodee, Zane, Lillie & Chuck.

Junior Colts: With both sides knocking on the door of the top 4 it was a chance for the young Maggies to connue their ever improvement through season 2024. Neither side wanted to give an inch throughout the game and aer a couple of weeks off it took the Junior Colts a lile longer to find their feet and game style again but managed to work their way into the game and finish off the stronger of the 2 sides in a tough, close encounter to be up at the final margin by 7 points and turn at the half way mark at 5-3. Best players went to Aiden - Spot On, Nathaniel - Bunnings, Lachy - OK Pie Shop, Koby - Bakers Delight, Alex - Coaches Award and Max M. - Killara Food Court encouragement award.

Senior Colts: With a few South lads pung their hand up for a game and to the credit of Hicksy and his players we managed to get a game with 14 a side. It was an entertaining game over the 4 quarters with quality passages of play and played in good spirits which is all we are asking. Having a couple of lads unavailable we were even shorter than normal. Credit to our boys in both the few senior colts we have and the junior colts who keep showing up each week as know less than ideal but there is light at the end of the tunnel lads and keep persevering. Best players went to Hunter Higgins -

Axel

- Country Atude, Jordy Bartle - KD's

Reserves: With a few players back from the 1's and a couple back from injury it was a handy list that Auldy had to work with in order to take on the winless Saints on their home deck. From the outset the midfield was on top with Reevsey & Chrissy controlling the contests and feeding the ball out to the runners in Cam & Kye and plenty of quality ball to the forwards who capitalised at every opportunity. With Charlie back at full forward providing the strong focal point there was plenty of opportunies for the small forwards who didn't waste it. Best players went to Reevsey, Johnny, Cam, Charlie, Kye & Tommy Walks.

Seniors: Aer a couple of weeks off and geng a couple of players back the Lynseys mob are starng to forward to the second half of the season and get some structures and players set in place. It took a lile while for the Maggies to get going in sunny but cool condions as kicking against the breeze in the 1st was always going to prove a lile difficult however we had plenty of the ball but couldn't get the radar working when shoong for goal and only managed 2 goals 9 in the 1st qtr. With the cobwebs from 2 weeks off blown out and the backline standing resolute the mids and forwards went to work in the 2nd and managed to kick straight in the term to go in at the main break with a 74-point lead at 11-11 to 3 behinds. The 3rd was a repeat of the 1st with the Saints increasing their intensity around the centre clearances to find themselves in their F50 plenty throughout the quarter and managing to outscore us by a goal but we sll held a 68 point lead at the final change. Lynsey didn't mince his word at the final huddle and urged every player to give maximum effort in the final term to make sure finish off the game strong and take some good form into the next few weeks of tough footy. The Maggies responded well in the last with the midfield group winning the around ground clearances and the forwards kicking accurately with 8 goals in the final term to register a 111-point victory. With 12 different goal kickers for the game and Nato registering his 1st as a senior player meant a good even spread an no reliance on any 1 key forward. Best players went to Jaggs, Toota, Weap, Smack, Sauce & Tommy W.

We look to start the second round of home & away games next up as we welcome Pt Mac at home and the Indigenous Round which is an important day for our club and well led by Timmy Brennan. Make sure you get out there early and watch our next lot of stars strut their stuff before what should be a cracking game of senior footy before hanging around for presentaons & teas.

PORT MACDONNELL DEMONS

A Grade: Port MacDonnell 29.19 def Kongorong 8.12. The Bay once again turned on the weather with a cool but clear day and a great turnout for our favourite derby The club would like to congratulate all the Junior and Senior colts who represented the MSE in last week's Zone compeons, parcularly Harry Carroll who brought home the MVP. This game was as much about the percentage as it was the win, and we knew that Kongorong would not let us get away lightly With body to the ball, Ned Wilke dominated all over the ground, leading by example and certainly earned the BOG. Colby Munro (2nd) controlled the forward line with ease, his pace with the ball almost unmatched. Nathan Brotherton (3rd) showed grit and determinaon through the midfield, ruck and backline while Patrick Robinson (4th) gave plenty of pace to the flanks pushing the ball forward at every opportunity Zack Williams rounds out the list with his stalwart leadership of the back line and strategic stoppages of the Kongorong forwards. There was plenty of flash and dash around the forward lines with Chrisan Howle kicking 7 big ones, pung him in contenon for the League Leading Goalkicker award. Colby Munro booted 5, while Jake Turner, Je Aard and Ethan Gladman each kicked 3. Ned Wilke nabbed 2 goals and the back line boys geng bored Rory Narass (his 1st A grade goal),Kyall McClean and Nathan Brotherton each kicked one. We are now at the halfway mark and just in the 4, but as we know undisciplined play can impact not only the game and the team but also the outcome of our season. Our training and fitness are reflected in the way we play but our mental fitness is just as important. Next up is Kalangadoo and this game could be the difference in our finals campaign for 2024, so train hard to play hard. Go Demons!

def Kongorong 4.4. I have no idea why everyone complains about the weather when they come to play at the Bay? It's nearly always perfect! Plenty of sunshine meant the team photos would look great but I'm sure that everyone would sll rather have the rain! If only to soen the oval a lile more. The home crowd was treated to another great “three corner Jack“ aack by Jack Caw(thorne – in their side) which le Kongorong reeling not only through the midfield but the back and forward lines earning him the BOG and becoming a real contender for the club B&F again this year. Like a burr on fur, Simon Merre (2nd) also prickled the Hawks giving us plenty of run on through the centre and mopped up the flanks pushing forward when needed. Bradley “Snging Nele” Neale compounded the Hawks pain with his leg speed and height across the midfield earning 3rd while Baz “End of the line” O'Dine (4th) was parcularly consistent with his stoppages across back and with a rebel yell the “Mason-Dixon” line of Mason Brown (5th) and Brodie Dixon (6th), kept the black and gold forwards from scoring. 45% of the team scored a goal (11 goalkickers!) or aempted to score a goal and were successful 45% of the me! Ben Newton has proved to be a handy target up front, kicking 4 goals, while Simon Merre and Je Lewis both kicked 2. Jack Cawthorne, Mason Brown, Aidan Telford, Baz O'Dine, Bradley Neale, Nathan Munro, Nick Byrne and Archie New all kicked one each. Thank you again to the Senior Colts who helped fill the side, Je Lewis, Archie New and Kurs Lasle, you all had a great impact on the game, and welcome back to Nick Byrne and Grady Hutchesson (well done in ruck). The season is now half over boys, and we are sll in a posion where we could play finals… let your heart beat true for the red and the blue! (P.S training helps!) Go Demons!

HATHERLEIGH netball club

It is with immense pride and joy that we celebrate Amy Haines’ 150th game for Hatherleigh Netball Club, a milestone that reflects not just her dedicaon to the sport but also her deep-rooted love for our club.

From her beginnings as a fresh-faced junior around 1994, through the ranks of under 13s, under 15s, and under 17s, Amy displayed a strong work ethic which was rewarded when she made her A Res debut whilst sll playing in under 17s.

A move to Adelaide took Amy away from us for a while, but true to her heart, she returned home in 2010 with her husband Josh and young son Riley. Her return marked the beginning of a new chapter as she joined the B Res team, balancing her roles as a young mum and a passionate netball player.

Amy’s impact on the B Res team has been profound. Her leadership and skill on the court helped the team reach the finals in every season she played, with a series of near misses as runner-up premiers in 2011, 2012, 2014, 2016, and 2019. The long-awaited premiership glory finally came in 2023, a testament to her perseverance and unwavering spirit.

Recognised for her leadership qualies, Amy captained the team in 2016, 2021, and again in 2023, guiding her teammates with passion and determinaon.

Beyond her on-court achievements, Amy’s commitment to Hatherleigh extends to roles off the court and to the football club. She joined the netball commiee in 2023 and is currently the playing co-coach for her beloved B Res team. Amy has been team manager for the junior colts from 2020-2023 and volunteered as an assistant trainer in 2018, always ready to lend a helping hand.

Amy’s love for Hatherleigh is a family affair. Her children are already acve in the club with Riley playing senior colts, Leni in under 11s and Indi in J2s. Their enthusiasm and commitment mirror the values Amy holds dear, ensuring that the spirit of Hatherleigh thrives in the next generaon.

As we celebrate this remarkable milestone, we also remember Amy’s beauful mum, who was a constant presence at every game, scoring, coaching and offering unwavering support. The score shed named in her honour stands as a testament to her lasng legacy. Today, we know she is looking down with pride as Amy reaches this special day. In her memory, we’ll raise a Bacardi and toast to Amy’s incredible journey and all that she has achieved for Hatherleigh Netball Club.

Congratulaons Amy and thank you.

HATHERLEIGH netball club

Today we celebrate an incredible milestone for one of Hatherleigh Netball Club's most dedicated players, Karen Bowman, on 150 games of unparalleled dedicaon and leadership.

This isn't just a celebraon of games played, but a testament to a journey that began in 2006 when she joined our club as a member of the B Res team.

From the very beginning her talent and passion was evident. By 2010, she was recognised as the runner-up B&F, a sign of the great things to come. In 2011, she led by example as the captain of the runner up premiers. Her impact grew even stronger in 2012, a year that saw her captaining the team to another runner-up premiership whilst also being honoured as the best and fairest. This year firmly established her as a cornerstone of our club, both as a leader and as an exceponal player

In 2013, she took on the role of coach for the B Res team, marking the beginning of her influenal coaching career. By 2014, she was a playing coach, leading the team to another runner-up premiership and once again being named B&F

Her ability to inspire and elevate her teammates was undeniable. She connued to balance playing and coaching with grace and effecveness, earning the best and fairest tle again in 2017. Her commitment to the sport and our club never wavered, as evidenced by her role as Vice Captain and J1 coach in 2021.

2023 was a standout year, as she led the team to a premiership as a playing coach. This triumph was the culminaon of years of hard work, determinaon and unwavering dedicaon. In 2024, she connues to contribute as the playing coach for the B Grade and U13's coach, nurturing the next generaon of players with the same passion and commitment she has always shown.

Beyond the court, her dedicaon to the club is equally impressive. She has served on the ladies commiee for 10 years, including four years as treasurer, and joined the netball commiee in 2021, where she remains an acve member. Her contribuons behind the scenes have been invaluable, ensuring the smooth operaon and connued success of the club.

Karen embodies the spirit of Hatherleigh Netball Clubpassionate, dedicated, and always striving for excellence.

Congratulaons on this remarkable achievement and thank you for all you've done and connue to do for our beloved club.

Ava Smith-Muhovics has played all of her netball for Mount Burr, beginning as a junior at the age of 8. She has coached Junior 1s and is an avid supporter of the club, especially sisters Sara, Sophie and Alice

We are pleased to see her back on the court in the A Reserve side, aer a few years being interrupted by injury.

Ava is a premiership player in 13 and 15 & Under sides, and was part of the runner-up B Reserve side in 2024

We wish her well for the remainder of the season and hoping for many more successful years ahead Congratulaons on 50 games

Junior 2: In chilly condions we hosted Glencoe. It was great to see everyone working hard to meet the ball. Well done girls on a great team game. It was great to see so many combinaons working well together We had some great passages of transion and our defensive pressure all over the court was great! Thank you to Roxy for taking training last Thursday and to Chan for stepping up and coaching in my absence. Thanks also to Tilly for umpiring.

Junior 1: A great game girls! It was good to see everyone pung in 100% effort for all 4 quarters. Our shoong, leading and defending has come a long way since the start of the season, it's amazing to see. Thank you also to Maddie for umpiring and Julie for ming. Awards went to Zariah - McDonald's, Malda - Subway and Indi - Acky's.

13 & Under: Bad luck girls, not a great game for us. When we are behind on the scoreboard we need to keep our heads up, and play our game. We went behind alot and we were not coming to the ball coming down the court. Glencoe put pressure on us all over the court and they kept turning the ball over and over again. Also no communicaon on the court and we need to have faith and support for each other in tough games like this. Let's work hard at training and use in the game against Kongorong. Thanks to Grace for scoring and Stacey for ming and Caity for umpiring. Awards went to Hannah - Dentons Drink Bole and Wren - Gino's Pizza and Pasta.

15 & Under: Amazing effort girls, with an unlucky result you fought to the end I am so proud of the progress you are all making. You all fought hard making Glencoe earn the win, a few things to work on but let's tackle this week! Best players Courtney Sigston (Ignion Fitness), Chloe Armstrong (Subway), Gemma Salo (Cafe Melzar).

17 & Under: A good win aer a slow start. It is important to be aware of other teammates’ leads to ensure our ming is right. Also to ensure we change direcon and reoffer instead of working in straight lines. When we passed out in front, away from defenders, the play was free flowing

and a pleasure to watch. Some tough defensive pressure in the 2nd half to slow the flow into the defensive circle. This helps our defence me to set up and force play wide. A fantasc 2nd half with some great highlights. Well done Tilly (Gino's award) and Abbey (Fasta Pasta) for winning the awards. Thanks Layla for umpiring and Paul and Lee for ming. Let’s work hard at training to make sure we come out with intensity this week.

B Reserve: Mt Burr 41 defeated Glencoe 31. What a great team game. Our defensive pressure resulng in so many turnovers, the way we backed each other, using our opportunies and our improved delivery of the ball was consistent throughout the game. Let's keep it up and get the win this week. Awards went to Makayla Gregory & Christene Farana. Thanks to our sponsors Denton’s Sports Power, Fasta Pasta & Ignion Fitness for our awards.

B Grade: Another close game girls, we just couldn't finish off. We went into the game knowing it was going to be a tough bale. We are sll trying to work out new combinaons, slowly geng there. We need to work on our drive down court coming out of our defensive end. Thank you to Jusne for umpiring, Amy for scoring and Holly for ming. Awards: K&S Fuel – Lilly, Since 56 – Zoe, Bowling – Maddie, Ignion Fitness – Charloe, Laura and Vickie – Bri.

A Reserve: Last Saturday's game saw us face a strong Glencoe side. The first half had the lead kept ght and the intensity high. Half me changes by Glencoe and forced errors by us seen them convert at every opportunity presented gaining a healthy lead. We maintained our work rate and saw some good passages of play but at the end of the day passing errors and small mistakes cost up the game. Thanks to the umpires, scorers and me keepers for the day. Player awards went to Maddie Gamble (Laura and Vickie), Ava Smith Muhovics (Ignion).

A Grade: Big congratulaons to Laura Schultz playing in her 200th game and Megan Thiele playing in her 100th game. The girls came out firing wanng to get a win for their captains, coming out with a few goal lead over Glencoe in the first few minutes. The enre game went goal for goal, with Glencoe keeping a few goals lead over us. The last quarter saw us make a couple of errors which unfortunately blew the score out in the end. The girls need to hold their heads high as that was definitely a winnable game. Thank you Lisa for umpiring, Alan for scoring and Sam for ming. Vouchers went to Madi (Sassi), Olivia (Cafe Melzar), Megan (Sportspower), Laura (Somerset), Ella (Zambreros).

NETball club notes

13 & Under: Yay team! I am so proud of you all for last Saturday’s efforts and I am so happy we got the result we have been working towards. Everyone came out ready to play and that posive and commied atude showed on the court. There were passages that made me so excited to see where the second half of our season takes us. So so happy and so proud of every single one of you, let's train hard this week and come out ready to play this weekend.

15 & Under: What a game! I am so unbelievably proud of you all. We knew it was going to be a hard game coming up against Pt Mac but we played our own game, scored our own goals and worked hard to get turnovers. Every single one of you all dug in deep and played out of your skin. Our defensive pressure was unreal all down the court. If I could give you all best players I would. Best went to Addison Graney, Rahni Janeway, Imogen Vandepeer and Holly Awill.

17 & Under: Not a bad game girls. Big thanks to Mel for coaching the girls, it is really appreciated. Lots of good plays made especially in our defence, a couple of things to do at training but your overall improvement this season is amazing and you should all be proud of yourselves. Best players went to Alsiah Cram ($10 O’Connor and Graney) for her hard work the enre game and Riley Ellis (Fasta Pasta) for her connuaon of learning the game especially starng in C. Let’s all come together and training and put in some work to keep growing as a team.

B Reserve: Thank you to Port Mac for a beauful game. Your shooters are amazing. Unfortunately our girls didn't have their head in the game which ulmately hindered our basic skills of passing and going into the space. We need to hold our heads high and take this as a learning opportunity. We made some really big changes and players went into posions they don't normally play so I’m really proud of them for taking it in their stride. Best players: Chernita (the Park) for her ability to literally play any posion on the court and her posivity on the court especially in the last quarter. Marnee (Mika Beauty) – for her consistency in giving 110% at all

mes.

B Grade: What an effort girls. We started off strong, fighng for every possession, backing each other up and pung our bodies in front creang great play and pressure down the court. Coming into the second half slightly behind, we started off strong but unfortunately came undone with a few posion changes that we didn't foresee with Milz taking a fall. It raled us enough that they got a run on and stretched their lead more that made it hard to gain back. Fighng as much as we could in the fourth quarter for as many opportunies we could get and making the most of 90% of them. The defence girls, Court, Maddie and Biz playing a ripper of a game, lots of turnovers, touches and pressure, just all round played one awesome game together Sammy creang a lot of space and controlling the play in the aack end earnt her the (The Springs Creave) voucher Courtney Hardacre received (The Spot) voucher for a brilliant game in GK.

A Reserve: A frustrang result of a good game. Cohesion in transion lacked prevenng strong drives to the ball. Best players went to Paige Hicks for her feeding in aack - receiving The Springs Creave & Heidi Finnigan for her defensive pressure all game - receiving The Park Hotel voucher. Thank you to our sponsors.

A Grade: Well done girls! We came out with a bit of unseled netball and connecons were quite clicking the way we know they can. I am proud of everyone for pushing through and even more proud of everyone for stepping up to the task of new posions and combinaons for the second half. Everyone's defensive pressure across the court was fantasc and gave our aack line plenty of opportunity all day. Shout out to Rahni for stepping up to the task and showing some great potenal and posioning in the seniors. Best on went to Evie (The Commercial Hotel) for running hard all day and showing real control in the middle and Rach (Lima and Co) for working overme in the circle and using her pace down the court. Let's train hard this week and have a real crack on Saturday!

NETball club notes

Junior 2: What a great team game! Our defensive pressure created lots of turnovers, our passes were strong, and most were in front to where the player was going and in the aack, we used lots of change of direcon. A massive posive was our ability to react quickly to the umpires' decisions and also to chase down the loose balls; changing from defence to aack.

Awards: Corner Clip - Pippa Holland, HLCTorah Oakley, Beggs Bean & Bar - Addison Lowe.

Junior 1: The girls came out hard against Tant on the weekend. We worked hard on all the lile things such chasing loose balls, rebounding and paence to capitalise on turnovers. We had some good transions of the ball when we waing for the right opon and used the correct pass. All goalies throughout the day show accurately and moved well. Defence all over the court made the opposion work for everything. When we got red we noce we start to throw away the ball, lack in opons coming down the court and start to make silly errors but it’s good to see all the girls starng to pick up on the things we need to work on.

Awards: Myla Bowman - Chemist King, Poppy BoweringSports Power, Violet Fitzgerald - Beggs Bean & Bar

13 & Under: Hatherleigh 71 defeated Tant 31. Another great day on the court with our girls coming out firing in all posions. We welcomed Leyla back for her first game since breaking her arm. The day saw us with a strong lead in the first quarter and ght defence all the way down the court. Great posioning again by our aack line, feeding and connually wanng the ball and the never give up atude is incredible to see. The defence gave us plenty of turnovers for the whole day increasing our scoring chances immensely. Our defensive pressure through the court did lapse a lile in the last quarter, only outscoring Tant by 1, but that didn't change the end result and the girls adjusted well with lots of changes that were made in the last half Keep working on the things we know how to do well girls and connually support each other. Mollie was awarded for her efforts in the goal circle with the HLC award and Hazel received the Ducky's award for her posive atude and versality on the court. Thanks again to the parents and grandparents for your support and helping with all the jobs, it certainly lightens the load.

15 & Under: Hatherleigh 55 defeated Tant 32. A great team effort against Tant. Fantasc to see the girls starng to gel and to hear the voice and encouragement all over the court. It was our defensive pressure that helped us get on top of our opponents, aer a close first half we really put the foot down in the 3rd. Our paence and decision making through the court has really improved and our accuracy under the ring was outstanding. It was a solid, confident brand of netball so well done to all. Awards: Sportspower - Sylvie Barlow; HLC - Sienna Clark.

17 & Under: Hatherleigh 56 defeated Tant 32. Another solid effort from the girls, it’s good to see some of our training geng put into play and even beer when it works. Niah once again was rock solid in D and works hard bringing everyone into the game. Deni was as usual super reliable through the mid court. Overall everyone’s doing their job, sll plenty to work on but importantly we got the points. Awards: Shanae Piper - Mitre 10 and Kez's Candle, Chloe Gysbers - Ladies awards.

B Reserve: Hatherleigh 29 defeated by Tant 44. We knew it wasn’t going to be an easy game and unfortunately didn’t go the way we would have liked. We started of slow, we weren’t making space or driving to the ball being down by 5 in the first break. We definitely missed Ellen and Grace up both end of the goal circle. We hope grace is

feeling beer soon. It was challenging with our goalie not being there. However, we did manage to find a bit of momentum and some beer passages of play throughout the game. Amy, Keely and Demi worked hard in mid court and Fiona and Ella connued to sck ght on the defence. Ella played a solid 4 quarters giving it her all to win herself the Somerset Award. Melita held strong and put up some beauful shots earning herself Millicent Chemist award. Maddie connued to block out her WA and for that she earned the sport and rec award. Thanks again to our scorer Zoe, Linda and Nic for ming.

B Grade: Hatherleigh 51 defeated Tant 38. In a ght encounter, Hatherleigh got the win over Tantanoola. From the onset, Hatherleigh's defensive duo of Georgia and Maddie set the tone, forcing turnovers and providing ample opportunies for Liv and Ellie in the circle. Liv's posioning and Ellie's movement had them looking like a well oiled machine. The defensive efforts weren’t confined to the circle alone; the enre team applied exceponal pressure resulng in numerous intercepts and turnovers down the court. Kaz and Ali thwarted their opponents’ drive with tenacity, while Eliza stood strong against a physical opponent to posion well on the ring and feed the goalies with paence. As the game progressed, Keely came on at wing aack and Eliza moved into goal shooter, where she astounded with her accurate long-range shots, consistently finding the net. Entering the final quarter with a handy lead, the team was asked to maintain intensity and leave nothing in the tank. Liv returned to the goal shooter posion, Eliza moved to goal aack, and Ellie shied to wing aack, a taccal move that paid dividends. Georgia connued to shine with spectacular intercepts, Maddie's defensive contribuons remained pivotal, and Kaz and Ali sustained their spirited performance. Ellie's great playmaking at wing aack facilitated smooth transions into the circle, where Liv and Eliza's precision ensured a nice win for Hatherleigh. Awards: Liv - Kez’s Candle, Ellie - Ampol, Georgia - Hath Sport & Rec and Ali - Somerset. Thanks to Keely and Melita, Linda for PC, Raels for scoring, Casey for ming and Dizey for team manager. Hoping everyone is back on deck fit and well this week for Kaz’s milestone game!

A Reserve: Hatherleigh 40 defeated Tant

34. The game started off strong, with the girls geng a few intercepts in the defensive end and the goalies worked really well in the circle. Rosie Nele and Lucy Corman’s speed and drives down the court were unstoppable. With a few out with injuries and sickness, the girls did well to adjust to new posions and plays. Unfortunately, we had our Shayla go down with a knee injury in the first quarter. A few changes were made to fill her posion and they did well to adjust quickly. The Glencoe Netball Club wishes Layla Hawke all the best for her 50th Club Game today. Congratulaons Layla!

Junior 2: What a great effort girls! We played in the freezing cold and it was hard to get warm and stay warm but everyone tried really hard throughout the game. We improved so much throughout the four quarters and started to get the ball into our goal circle from our centre passes. It was great to see leads in front of our players and passes going out and in front. There was lots of hand pressure from Mt Burr but we managed to get lots of passes in from throw-ins. It was a great game back aer the league bye. Our best players went to Savannah Shaw for a fabulous game in defence, following her player and geng lots of intercepts and Isabella Bignell for lots of drives and passes in WD and C. Great work girls!

Junior 1: Wow, what a very chilly morning last week's game was. We were a bit slow to start thanks to the icy weather, but when we did warm up, there were some great passages of play into the goal circle and perfect 3 feet defending and rebounds from the defenders and also some great drives and re-offers in defence as well. Aackers kept trying different centre pass set ups and adjusted their play to the players they were against. Best went to Shelby, it was great to see you put everything we have been learning at trainings into the game. Encouragement went to Ruby for never giving up in defence. Thank you to Bella B and Ruby J for playing a half each, you both did amazing and improved a lot. Great game by everyone!

13 & Under: Glencoe 42 defeated Mt Burr 31. Wowsers! What an awesome team game! The best I have seen us play as a team. Every player played their very best and worked hard for four quarters. The defensive pressure was superb and gave us plenty of opportunity to create turnovers and capitalise at the other end. Best players went to our goalies Hallie (Key 2 Sale) and Emma (Paradise Pizza) and encouragement went to Lily for a fantasc first half. Very hard to pick best players when the everyone in the team contributed so well to the end result! Keep up the good work!

15 & Under: Glencoe 42 defeated Mt Burr 31. Great team game in slippery condions, everyone played their part and contributed well. There was great defence and lots of pick ups by Bella earning her best player. Ruby was second best and had great 3 feet and got lots of touches under the ring. Chloe was awarded encouragement for playing out of her comfort zone with lots of great holding and finished off strongly in goals. Layla had plenty of contests in the air, Kloe fed well into the circle, Violet moved so well all over the court, Ella shot strongly and Grace had great hands in defence. Well done girls.

17 & Under: Glencoe 37 lost to Mt Burr 60. While this wasn't a win it was a great improvement from our previous game against Pt Mac. It's great to see what we are working on at trainings being applied on game day. Plenty of opons at the centre passes and the flow in the goal circle worked beer. Defence had a tough task but never giving up shows you can get plenty of touches. First best to Maddie Bignell for a great effort at GD, geng plenty of touches and great driving out of defence. Remember never to give up Madz. Second best to Alyssa Medhurst for a strong effort at GS, you had a hard opponent but worked relessly in the circle and shot 26 of our 37 goals.

tough game. We were a goal up at each break, hanging on to our lead however our energy went down, along with our focus creang a lot of mistakes and our heads to go down. We need to connue to work on our four quarter effort and pressure as well as keeping our heads up when we make mistakes and the drive up even when we are leading. Despite this there were some great individual efforts and good patches of play as a team that we need to acknowledge. Best players went to Imogen, Jorja B and Lauren. Thank you to Leone Jones for scoring and Montana and Alyssa for sing bench.

B Grade: Another week and another (mostly) new team with only 4 people available to play. It took us the first quarter to get used to our new combinaons and play cohesively, but we turned it around in the second quarter and produced a great 6 goal turn around. Our goalies, Abbie and Jorja, worked hard all day and connued to move well in the circle and put their shots up. It's always hard when you are playing with new combinaons but it was great to see you fight all game and not drop your heads when the goals weren't going in. Our defensive pressure down the court was fantasc and created plenty of turnovers. We sll need to remember to slow down when we get a turnover, take care of the ball and use it to our advantage. It was a tough day in defence but we fought hard and got our hands to plenty of passes. Best players went to Kate Edmonds and Jorja Mitchell. Thank you again to Abbie, Caitlyn, Lauren and Kate for filling in and sing bench. Overall, a solid team game and great way to finish the first round. Let's keep working hard and aim to turn a few of our losses in the first round to wins in the next round!

A Reserve: Glencoe 59 defeated Mt Burr 40. Love to get a good win on the board while the coach is away sunning herself in Thailand. It's great to see Max and Zoe combining well in the goal circle, Zoe's front cuts and well med entry in the circle work well with Max's holds and baseline dodge. Jessie and Chloe showed paence with feeding and swang the ball with confidence which helped open up the space. Defence lacked intensity at mes but when we did get a turnover we treasured the ball and made it count on the scoreboard. Welcome back to Sami C! Glad to have you back on court. Amazing effort by Mckayla, coming on at half me and geng some clean intercepts and lots of deflecons. Another must win game this week against Hatherleigh. Let's go out there focused and ready to fight for every ball. Thanks to Kate and Kate for sing bench again!

A Grade: Glencoe 48 defeated Mt Burr 37. A hard fought win to round out the first half of the season. We made it a tough start for ourselves and were all a bit flat off the mark but were able to turn things around quickly enough. Defensively we worked hard to implement what we worked on at training and were able to force plenty of turnover opportunies. In aack we worked paently to get the ball to the post and the chasing up of loose balls was awesome to see. Best went to Ashlea for a solid game, being a reliable opon down court and feeding strongly Second to Alice for pung in the effort in the first three quarters to then be rewarded with a flurry of intercepts in the last. A big thank you again to Tameka for stepping up and connuing to contribute on court. We need to keep working towards that solid four quarter performance. Let's look forward to the second half of the season and connue to improve as a team.

A Grade: Robe 57 def Hatherleigh 36. Another ght and compeve start for the A grade girls. The first half of the match had Robe working hard to keep possession of the ball. With 1:1 defence, strong hands and a rolling sub from Sophie Bates & Annie Regnier allowed Robe to sneak away with the lead. Robe’s mid-court had strong leads and paence feeding into the shooters Demi Carter & Sarah Laurie to secure the shot. However, Hatherleigh were not going down without a fight. Contesng lots of play, with extremely ght defence. An injury then occurred with Lucy Perkins having to come off and a clear swap with Ash Hunt going into WA. Robe connued to stay focused, with each player doing their role perfectly. Congratulaons to Sarah Laurie coming out with Calcua on her 100 games for the season. Awards: Calcua – Sarah Laurie (Original Skin Clinic), Incenve – Demi Carter (Naracoorte Sportspower & Wangolina Wines).

A Reserve: Robe 34 lost to Hatherleigh 43. The girls had a hard game against Hatherleigh. With pressure and intensity we kept a close margin for the game. Our defenders Hannah and Jess got best on, applying pressure to the goalies and geng crical turnovers. Our midcourt, Alex, Kim, Camille and Annabelle played a defensively strong game through the middle. It was a hard match up for our goalies, but they worked hard to find the space. We look forward to facing the Eagles again! Awards: CalcuaHannah Hentschke (Original Skin Clinic), Incenve - Jess Carter (Wangolina Wines).

B Grade: Robe 29 lost to Hatherleigh 65. Bad luck girls. Unfortunately all light bulbs were off. A super doable game for our team, we just let it slip through our grasp. 4th quarter was evident the type of netball we can play when we switch on! Brush it off, take a breath and we will regroup for the 2nd half of the season. Calcua went to Billie who was consistent in both goals & defence. Best went to Tayla who took on feedback and got her hands to many intercepons. Awards: Calcua –Billie Carter (Original Skin Clinic), Incenve – Tayla Edwards (Wangolina Wines).

17 & Under: Robe 26 lost to Hatherleigh 54. The girls rocked up with a great atude and keen to play together as a team! And there were lots of posives to take away from the game, with the team dynamic improving dramacally and the

atudes on the courts being really great. We were lucky to have the A grade side out watching and offering some ps! Unfortunately Hatherleigh proved why they are top and were too strong for us, but we didn't give up with plenty of great passages of play especially towards the second half of the game. Georgie shot beaufully and just has to remember to be confident in herself, earning best player. Olivia did not give up all game, geng too many turnovers and touches to count as well as using her captain’s voice to encourage the girls, she was awarded coaches award. I know the potenal this team has and am excited to work on more game plays over the break! Awards: Best – Georgie Wirth (Steve's Place), Coaches – Olivia Birchall (Loaves & Fishes).

15 & Under: Robe 49 def Hatherleigh 38. Another win for the girls, ending on a high for the first half of the season. The girls had lots of posives; loads more talk on the court and defensive pressure really got us the win. We've got a tough second half of the season but if the girls keep composure and connue working as a team they can be sure to keep their posion in the top 4. We always knew it was going to be a tough game, at our breaks the girls took on board feedback about passing and driving forward. Everyone stayed defensively strong throughout with many intercepts made. Outstanding workrate from Lacey who stood all game and earning best player. And Lexi played a strong game in defence and took out my coaches award. A special menon to Edie, a J1 who put her hand up to play with us as we were a player short. Junior 1: Award: Robe Netball Club. Another great game by our junior 1s. Everyone is improving each week and we are really now starng to think about our games and playing netball. We have solid aack whoever I put in there, bring the ball down in to the goal circle, using our dodging and speed to get in front of our players. We next will work on bring in the ball down court from the defence end, and making sure we treasure turnovers. You all have such great atudes and never whinge when you are taken off or put somewhere on the court. You are all amazing. Coaches went to Aurla for her great aacking at WA, geng in front and creang lots of drive for her team.

Junior 2: Notes from coach Charli last week! Thank you so much for stepping in while I'm away! So glad you all had an amazing game. I'm so proud of the girls! We knew it was gonna be a tough game but they sll held their own and tried their very best. A rushed morning caused us to start off a bit raled but as the game progressed the girls stayed composed and posive. We had some great passages of play and the girls really showed off what they have been learning at training. Best players went to Millie for her amazing defence saving so many goals, and Marlee for her awesome moving in the ring to get in front of her player! Overall I'm so proud of how far the girls have come in the first half and so excited to see how the develop in the next part of the season!

Junior 1: What an absolute ripper effort by all 9 of you. You all gave 110% at whichever posion you were in & for the full game (except the last 3 minutes haha). We had many different combinaons in aack & defence & I loved how the play connued to flow no maer who was shoong, feeding it in or defending. Everyone just keeps on geng stronger & stronger & the way you all work as a team is so impressive. Brilliant job lile girls!

13 & Under: Round 9 we came up against the undefeated Hatherleigh team. Our girls applied good defence pressure & worked hard in aack against the strong team. It was great to see players change things up or try new things when it didn't work. Birthday girl Olivia played a rippa, presenng well for the ball receiving The Property Co award. Nyree worked hard at GS, shoong with great accuracy receiving Dentons Sportspower Award.

15 & Under: Having come such a long way in our skills and court play from the beginning of the season it was a disappoinng game against Hatherleigh. A couple of weeks with no solid trainings and a bye resulted in a lacklustre performance - so now we need to refocus, work hard and regain our confidence to move forward! Awards: Astyn (Tant club meal voucher), Alice (Devine Gis) Summah (Wendy's).

17 & Under: A tough game for us last week coming up against Hatherleigh. We had a slow start in the first quarter aer a week off Hailey had a strong game starng in goals then moving into the midcourt and managed to get some good turnovers for us through the middle. Poppy was solid all game with beauful front cuts into the circle and working hard for every ball, also slong into defence seamlessly. Kailah worked hard on the wing and fed well into the goalies. Bethan returned from holidays and had a ripper in the

middle and then sloed into goals and shot well (KFC award). Kaitlin played another ripper game at WD, hands over pressure was superb and got lots of deflecons all game. Demi created lots of drive down court and was hard at any loose ball over the court. Another consistent game from Molly who read the play well and gained many balls throughout the game, also sloed into goals well (Ladies Commiee voucher). Isla caused a lot of pressure over the shot with her long reach and made it hard for the shooters. Lots of posives to take away from the game, let's work hard this week at training girls. Well done.

B Reserve: Nice to finish the first round with a win, however we are all acutely aware there is sll much work to be done. Overall a good team performance with plenty of posive comments from all players on and off the bench. Awards: Holly (Somerset meal voucher), Sally (Heaven on a Hanger) and Leah (Devine Gis).

B Grade: Last Saturday’s game was a tough one. I had a few players out and the girls were all playing in a few different posions. We knew Hatherleigh were going to be a good team and we just wanted to stay posive and come out as best as we could. The girls did really well, and we will keep connuing to work on some things, but overall I'm happy with the game even though we didn't come away with the win.

A Reserve: What a great game of netball by the Tigers. Our defensive end of Lucy, Dakota, Eva and Sophie were causing chaos for the Eagles goalies. Our whole team created plenty of turnovers giving us numerous opportunies to move ahead on the scoreboard, but we were unable to convert. Great defensive pressure all over the court from all players. Hard running from Eva, Alana, Krystal and Kristy in the mid court with Ebony in GA allowed us to move the ball through the Eagles zone quickly. A great last quarter saw the Tigers catching up on the scoreboard. In the end we went down by 6 to the 2nd team on the ladder. A brilliant team effort. Best: Ebony Cytrowski - Sassi, Dakota Hatley - Kelsey Wright Gym.

A Grade: Aer a week off we started slowly and had a number of unforced errors throughout the first three quarters. Hatherleigh connued to apply pressure throughout the game and made us work for our possessions. It was pleasing to see us push back each me we needed to with us showing several good paent passages of play. Casey (Sassi award) was consistent through the mid court with Bella posioned well for some strong rebounds (Kelsey Wight Fitness award).

B Reserve: A very strong start from our girls meant we were able to create a lead right from the first whistle which we connued to build all game. Gem and Deb proved to be a nuisance to their goalie opponents by picking off many passes and only allowing one shot with great holds and strong boxing out. Maddi and Nic combined beaufully in the goal circle and were able to capitalise on all opportunies. Our feeders were able to help create space with their paence and use of fakes to throw the defenders off. We were able to use a few different combinaons across the court to gain experience and strength in our newer posions. It’s great to see what we have been working on at trainings is starng to pay off with an easier flow down the court. Thank you to Ash and Molly once again for giving us some fresh legs. Junior 2: Our rising stars faced off against the Hawks youngsters, both teams were filled with fresh talent and plenty of enthusiasm. Our girls quickly found their rhythm with our goalies finishing off each centre pass with almost expert precision, making the crowd and the coaches very proud. Our mid court worked seamlessly together, resulng in several scoring opportunies, showing their improvement week in and week out. Our defence held their own, with each player moving with their goalies, defending the ball and geng their hands to each and every rebound. The game was finished with the girls celebrang a great game and singing happy birthday to their head coach Jenna. We are incredibly proud of how well the girls have improved throughout the first half of the season. This week we start the second half of the season and the girls are excited to see where their skills take them. Our encouragement awards went to Sophie Stratman & Imogen Griffiths, thanks to Wendy's and Fasta Pasta for donang these awards.

Junior 1: It was a scrappy game last week, we have a few things to work on at training. We are moving the ball well down the court, we just need to make the most of our turnovers. Ava (Baker's Delight) had an amazing game in centre and wing aack, chasing up any loose balls. Emily O (Fasta Pasta) our lile pocket rocket gives her all in every posion she plays.

13 & Under: Port MacDonnell 28 defeated by Kongorong 33. With the sun shining down the Bay, we started out a bit slow with only Evie Jones shoong 4 in first quarter and the defensive end working hard, with Peyton, Daisee & Sharli trying their hardest to get ps and touches. In the second quarter we started to get momentum with Lily Whan injecng herself into the game. Madison and Lucy fed the goalies well, heading into the third quarter down by 13 points. Roxy Day was injected into the game and this is where the defensive team of Peyton, Sharli and Roxy shined bright by keeping Kongorong to just 3 goals in last quarter, with the girls leaving their run a lile late we went down by 5. That's nothing to be upset by as training drills are working and all court plays are coming together. This game really showed the girls that we might have been down most of the game but we are never out of the game. By hard work and not dropping their heads they clawed their way back into the game with great movement and momentum. I believe they can do anything when they put their minds to it and just try! Awards: Sharli Manning (Fasta Pasta), Peyton Bowd (Fasta Pasta).

15 & Under: Port MacDonnell 42 defeated Kongorong 41. It was a very close game, a great game to watch from both sides. Everyone composed themselves and it was great to see. B Reserve: Port MacDonnell 63 defeated Kongorong 26. Closing out the first half of the round, Port MacDonnell faced off against Kongorong in a highly ancipated showdown. With Port Mac having their whole team back on deck with the return of their injured players Paige & Eboni, the Demons were keen for a win against the Hawks. A slow start in the first quarter with the Hawks matching the Demons goal for goal, it didn't take long before the dynamic duo Amber & Ainsley jumped in to gear and dominated the goal ring. With the Hawks rigorous defence, the goalie's shoong accuracy was outstanding especially aer being put in difficult posions, thankfully, with Deanne, the team playmaker feeding the ring perfectly alongside Paige & Salem taccally changing out the centre. The defensive unit was on point with Bridie and Fiona coordinang their quick reflexes and impenetrable defence within the goal ring, while Jenni & Eboni held up the play in the mid court. The Demons finished the game with a 37 goal win, going through to the second half of the round undefeated. Best players were awarded to Amber Moulden & Deanne Spencer. Awards: Lara Wilson (Chemist King), Jess Lynch (Victoria Hotel, Shipwreck Bistro).

A Grade: Port MacDonnell 63 defeated Kongorong 32. Aer a few unseled weeks we finally got to hit the court together as a full team. We definitely had some great transions down the court which we were able to capitalise on. Emily, Alana and Kate worked overme in defence all game geng lots of turnovers, which gave us lots of scoring opportunies. Alysha had a great game in the centre providing lots of drive and defensive pressure down the court. In sunny & sll condions at the Bay, the Demons took on their neighbouring Hawks. All players donned the blue socks to raise awareness & funds for MND

The game started off a see-sawing affair - both teams taking a bit of me to sele. Kori Collins at GS for Port Mac was on, missing just 1 goal for the quarter. Emily Thompson at GK for the home team also started well, creang many turnovers for her team. Hawks goalie combo of Tilah Buckingham & Evie Sealey were moving well & made the most of the opportunies they had. Port Mac edged away late in the quarter to take a 12-5 lead at quarter-me.

The second quarter saw a great bale in the midcourt - Jasmin McKinnon & Ebony Lawson were giving 100% for the Hawks but Port Mac’s WD Kate Faint was having an exceponal gametaking numerous intercepts to help her team move further ahead on the scoreboard. Alysha Coon was running the centre beaufully & combining well around the ring with Cody Manning. Megan Hein stepped up at GA for the Demons, shoong 10 for the quarter, despite the gallant defensive efforts of the Hawks’ Rach Perry & Emily Lightbody. Port Mac took a 31-14 lead at the main break.

out to GA & Evie Sealey moved into centre. This was a beer quarter for the Hawks, Sealey & Zara Vonstanke fed their goalies well & the quarter was ed up at 12-12. Port Mac in the lead 43-26 at the final break.

The final quarter was all Port Mac. Emily Thompson played a brilliant game at GK for the Bay & she was ably supported by Alana Berkefeld & Kate Faint throughout the enre match. The defensive team made it very hard for Kongorong to score in the final term. Megan Hein had another exceponal quarter - shoong 15 goals with very few misses. A solid performance from the Bay, running out 63-32 winners. Best for the Demons were Kate Faint & Emily Thompson. For the Hawks it was Evie Sealey & Rach Perry that took the honours.

Nangwarry lost to Kalangadoo

Round 9 of the Mid SE season, the final game of the first round, was Nangwarry hosng Kalangadoo.

The game started with Nangwarry winning the coin toss and deciding to take the first centre pass. The first score though went to the Magpies, with their defence intercepng near the goal circle and moving swily down the court for the first goal. Throughout this first quarter, the young Saints side gave their all and kept up their posivity, but their score of 3 at the end of the quarter did not portray the effort that was put into the game. Kayla Gray working overme in at GK, trying her best to get any loose balls and take any rebounds that she could. But the shoong accuracy of Abbey Duncan made the rebounds rare. Abbey shoong 10 of the 15 for the Kalangadoo side in the first term. Nangwarry's Maddi Stephens and Kalangadoo's Jayde Peacock had a great tussle in centre. Youngster Shayden Russell used her height well in at WD for the Magpies, geng her hands over the ball and making it difficult for the Saints to move the ball down the court comfortably. Neither team made any changes at the first break.

Kalangadoo connued this second term with intense pressure all the way down the court. The Magpies goalies both moving beaufully in the circle and both Duncan and Ebony McDairmid finding their range, shoong an impressive 21 between them for the quarter. But that didn't come easily as the pressure from defenders Jemma Glynn and Kayla Gray did not stop throughout the term. Nangwarry used a taccal change during the quarter, bringing on Taysha Marshall into WD and giving Lacey Neale a welldeserved break. Ebony Wurst, a newcomer to the young Saints side showed her intensity and strength in the goal circle, moving beaufully in the goal circle with her teammate and also newcomer Sheridan Sakkers. Alice Circelli in at WA using her speed and strength on the outside of the circle to pass into the shooters. But with amazing reading of the ball and strength from both Magpie defenders, Georgia Genle and Lara Munro, the possibilies for the Saints to score was limited, leaving them with 4 for the quarter

At the main break, both teams made some changes. The Pies changing over the two defenders in the ring and Jane Auld swapping bibs with Shayden Russell in the wing posions. The Saints moving Alice Circelli into centre, meaning Maddi Stephens could take a few extra breaths in at WA. The Saints spent the third term keeping their posivity up, making sure to encourage each other and keep working hard, but the scoreboard again didn't show the effort they were pung in, scoring just the two. Kalangadoo yet again used intense pressure all the way down the court, finding each other in the perfect posions and accurate passing, helping them add another 20 to their score.

At the final break it was just the Saints side that made any changes, those were made to all centre court posions. With the experience and strength of Jayde Peacock at centre, she was able to turn the ball over mulple mes throughout this last quarter and then moved the ball smoothly down the court with her teammates. This final term did allow Nangwarry to try to gain ground with a few more misses from the Pie's goalies, but it would be quickly turned over again whilst on the way back down the court. Nangwarry were able to achieve a goal they had set, by keeping the experienced and strong Magpie side to a score under 75. But in the final term they were unable to score from only the few shots that they were able to take, the strength of the Pie's just too strong for the young but always improving Saints team. Final scoreNangwarry 9 to Kalangadoo 71. Best players for the Saints - Maddi Stephens and Kayla Gray. Best players for the Magpies - Jayde Peacock and Georgia Genle.

In perfect weather condions Hatherleigh hosted Tantanoola in their first meeng for the season.

Tantanoola we’re the first to be on the scoreboard, followed quickly by Hatherleigh as the game went goal for goal in the early stages. Last week saw the home start a lile different with Elly Redden switching from GK into GS and Demi Vanderhorst into GK. This was new change for the home side but they were quick to adapt. Any loose balls were quickly jumped on as both sides were eager to break away. Tantanoola moved the ball down the court swily and were able to converted through Emma Gould. But it was the home side who took a 2 goal lead going into the first break.

Another tense quarter going goal for goal again, Demi Vanderhorst was able to get her hands to a few ps and touches which helped her home side add to the scoreboard. Both sides were paent in aack happily going backwards to go forward. Each pass was heavily contested between all players. Erin Watson provided her team with plenty of direcon and touches with chance to convert. Tantanoola’s Jami Walker did her part outside the circle working the ball in so her side were able to convert, which then seen the Tigers take a 2 goal lead going into the main break 21 -23.

Third quarter seen changes from the visitors with Bella Poulish & Kate Bromley having a change. This didn’t seem to maer for the Eagles as they connued to push on, however no side could break away by more than 2 goals. Elly Redden was a standout for the home side with her strength and ability to create, hold space and convert. Both sides were able to create turnovers all down the court which kept the scoreboard cking. Jami Walker sunk some important shots which helped her side break away to a 2 goal lead going into the last break 31-33.

Last term started quick and fast as Tantanoola started to chip away slowly. Hatherleigh applied heavy defensive pressure which caused turnovers but they were unable to convert when needed. This quickly saw the visitors transion down court and convert in Emma Gould. Hatherleigh connued to work hard, but poor choices in pass allowed the visitors to pick these off and extend their lead. A late change to the home side seen Bree Harris and Kali Nele switch in the aack which seemed to work well for the home side however Tantanoola were able to hold on and take the points in this match by 7. Best players - Hatherleigh: Erin Watson, Kali Nele; Tantanoola: Casey Walker, Bella Poulish.

Hatherleigh 40 lost to Tantanoola 47 The third quarter saw the Hawks bring on junior Rahni Janeway to GS, Tilah Buckingham moved
