UMPIRE APPRECIATION ROUND
Umpire Apprecia on round is an ini a ve of the AFL and SANFL aimed at encouraging all players, coaches, administrators and supporters of our game to appreciate the efforts of nearly 12,000 umpires na onally who officiate every weekend.
Too o en the role of the umpire in our game is overlooked and taken for granted. All umpires who officiate do so with the best inten ons of implemen ng the 'Laws of the Game' to the best of their ability. This is a difficult task that is some mes viewed in a cri cal fashion. This weekend the MSEFL would like to show our apprecia on to all our umpires who take up the challenge of umpiring our game.
The key messages we would like to promote as part of Umpire Apprecia on round are –
1. Playing, coaching and umpiring need to have a stronger rela onship – this refers to all of the key par cipants within our game showing a high level of respect for each other. As role models, coaches should always ensure they act appropriately towards umpires.
2. Umpiring is everyone's business – we all need to have a posi ve impact on the match day environment –this refers to players, coaches, parents, administrators, volunteers, supporters and everyone involved in our game having an impact on the match day environment. If there is abuse and in mida on towards umpires on match day then the environment can be considered poor, however if there is respect shown towards umpires and a level of tolerance then the match day environment will be posi ve.
3. New and inexperienced umpires are s ll learning the game – New Umpires to our panel are s ll learning how to umpire and should be encouraged and supported. No one gets be er si ng on the sidelines.
To ensure all umpires are valued and treated with respect, not just today but for the remainder of the season we would encourage clubs to play your part by con nuing to encourage team coaches and captains to shake hands with the umpires prior to the coin toss, for all par cipa ng players to thank and acknowledge the umpires at the end of the game, just like you thank the opposi on and invite the umpires into the club a er the match. It is important that we all respect the role of the umpire, so this weekend, think twice about offering that gratuitous advice and instead pat the umpire on the back and say THANK YOU!

Last week against Kalangadoo Shaun Beard played his 100th senior game for the Kongorong Hawks.
A class act on the wing, Shaun has also been used as a backman at mes, and with no wings now in the Reserves, he is most suited to half forward, with a licence to push up the ground.
His strength is his ability to run all day and find space, he knows when to drop back to fill a hole, and when to a ack.
A highlight for Shaun was playing with his son Xavier, in a game last season.
Congratula ons on the 100 game milestone, from all the Hawks players, members and supporters.A GRADE

Welcome to Round 2 of the MSE compe on for 2023 and our first Home game of the season. Our Home Game Sponsor and Best Player Sponsor today is Teagle Contac ng. We appreciate and thank all of our sponsors for this year for all they contribute to the club. We also need to thank all our volunteers who have taken on new roles on and off the playing surface this year to help keep the club running.
Last weekend we travelled to Port MacDonnell and experienced four seasons in one day. It was the best me to play on Port Macs oval but none of our football teams could make use of the condi ons. It was the first me in a long me we have had all 4 teams losing so hopefully we can get back on track this weekend. Some inspira on could be taken from the Crows and their performance during Gather Round, Ark Ark.
Junior Colts: The Junior Colts, led by Adam Price again this year had a few key players out and were out run in the 2nd half by a very good side. It was an even contest early on, but it didn't help when one of our Captains, Tighe Hurley went down early in the 1st quarter with a broken wrist. The kids have lost some of their top age players from last year but will s ll be right up there this year ba ling for finals posi ons as we have a quality ou it. Best players were Kallan Price, Samuel Haase, Bailey Dale, Jed Sinkunas, Connor Tweddle and Blake Gosden.
Senior Colts: The Senior Colts are this year being led by Will Maloney. They came up against an always strong Pt Mac Senior Colts and ended up going down 61 to 13. These lads showed good fight and effort throughout the whole game and once they get the chance to gel and train together more o en, we will see huge rewards on the field. We have a lot of junior colts who have come up this year, and some new recruits who have come out for a kick. A lot more numbers to fill a side will make it a lot easier on the team physically and the coaches.
Reserves: The Reserves have a new coach this year in Ben Hentschke, we appreciate Ben taking on this role as he is now a respected veteran amongst the club. Unfortunately, Ben was away this weekend and his back up Dave Hurley had to help his son a end hospital. Adam Price stepped in to take the reigns and with only 16
players and no rota ons the boys were in for a ring first game. It was a busy week for Ben to try and find enough players and with 2 blokes pulling out the morning of the game it makes it very difficult. Although Pt Mac only won 1 game last year, they have made a lot of improvements to their list and were far too good for us. We struggled to get the ball forward and struggled to match their running game. Well done to those that filled in and played 2 games. Our Captain this year is Ben Curran with Trent Hawke the Vice Captain. Best players were James Kipping, Jayson Finnis, Trent Hawke, Isaac Stubberfield, Mitch Boyd and Bevan Lipscombe.
Seniors: The Seniors also had a very even ul first game to the year with 8 first choice players either away or pulling out before Saturday. Thankfully, none of these were because of injury and they should nearly all be back this round. Due to the Reserves being so short on numbers it meant we had 5 Senior Colts playing and 1 Reserves player playing 2 games. Not an ideal start to the year. To make ma ers worse our Coach, Tom Edwards missed the game as his wife was in labour during the game. We congratulate them on the birth of their new baby boy. This meant Dylan Childs took charge of the team. We started well and were able to match Pt Mac for most of the first half. A er half me we struggled to find avenues to goal and in the last quarter we didn't have a bench and blokes wanted to come off with no one to swap with meaning they ran over the top of us. The scoreboard fla ered them a lot as it was not that one sided, but we do have a bit of work to do. Best players were Dylan Pfitzner, Patrick Mitchell, Jack Edmonds, Brodie Glynn, Dylan Childs and Lachlan Brierley. A big shout out to Lachlan, Digby, Josh, Brodie, Kaleb and Shannon who all had to play 2 games and did extremely well with some making their debuts for the club in A grade. Zacc Cocks also led us courageously and has been renamed Captain for this year
Today we welcome Hatherleigh as all sides hunt for their first win. We will be holding our first Social Event of the year 'SHUFFLE NIGHT' at the club a er the game. Please get your songs to Jack Miller before Saturday if you can. $10 a song. Last song played on the night wins. Other prizes will be available.

Well here go again!! Where did the off season go? 2023 has certainly been just as busy as 2022 with prepara on for the season ahead.
This year Gerard ‘Rigga’ McGrath will lead our A grade and with some personal changes hopefully can go 1 be er this year.
Thorny leads the B grade again as they chase 5 in a row and with a good blend of age and youth should give it a real shake again this year
Jed ‘Fridge’ Telfer leads our senior colts again and will certainly be ge ng these young men for their transi on into senior footballers.

Cluffy once again put his hand to coach the junior colts and has also joined the league junior commi ee which goes to show how much he enjoys developing young footballers and as always will do a fantas c job again.
New to the coaching scene Jacob Lang takes over as under 11 coach and is really excited for the year ahead. I reckon star ng off his career as a teacher and coaching under 11s will certainly re him out but will also be a lot of fun for him and lastly on the

coaching posi ons Josh Wight will lead our auskickers. These budding young stars start in term 2 and will look to tear up the oval during the half me break of the A grade so please show your support for them.
Thanks to all our coaches for pu ng your hand up as it’s a tough job but all our grades are in great hands and the Hatherleigh family wish you all great success in 2023.
As always running the football/netball club takes a lot of work and we’re always looking for helpers so when your on your roster please do your best to do your shi or swap with someone so our leaders aren’t le short staffed and running around trying to organise someone else to do your shi . If you have a spare hour let us know and we’ll find something for you to help with. We also look forward to welcoming new players, families and supporters to our club this year.
Good luck to all football and netball grades and I look forward to watching 2023 unfold.

On last week's games, these are the notes from the coaches:
Mini Colts: Today was the first game of football for many of our mini's and we welcome them and their families to the Club. We started the season off at Kalangadoo, with a tough and enjoyable game of footy. The determina on from every player being the smallest or the biggest in the team was pleasing to see. All players tackled and kicked well. Thank you to Boxy for his efforts in encouraging and direc ng the youngsters, it certainly goes a long way in their development as footballers. next two quarters we struggled with ball movement and hi ng targets but there was some strong points with effort from certain individuals keeping us grounded! Coming into the last quarter a few goals down I just wanted to see some effort and ge ng back to our basics which we did, and it was pleasing to see. At the end of the day going down 60 to 27, Kalangadoo's way, which wasn't the start we hoped for but with a very new group from last year I'm happy to see some founda ons we can work with. With Kalangadoo having mul ple WB permit players, and us s ll having to lend players to make it a game, it will be a different story later in the season when it's crunch me. Best players this week were:

off to a very exci ng start. It was very much a surprise to myself and Paechy with how strong they performed for a great four quarter effort. Our three captains showed great leadership and led from the front with Ryan Lucas taking home the Lucas Family Award, Blake Telford with the Aussie Disposals Voucher and Declan Richardson third best with the Spot On Fishing Voucher. Axel Page showed how versa le he can be all around the ground with the Janeway Plumbing Award, Koby Galloway showed how he can handle himself in the midfield, as a first year junior, with the Paradise Pizza Award and Noah Von Stanke-Dowie, with a couple goals to get us going early then playing down back to finish off with, the Coaches Award. Just a special men on to all the younger blokes who played a cracking first game and very unlucky to a couple to miss out on best players. Sam McInnes with some beau ful one percent efforts such as his shepherding, and Angus Maidment with his first crack down back with good tackle pressure and sneaking a goal late in the game. Good job boys - carry it into this week's game!
Senior Colts: Finally a er a hard, consistent preseason we headed down to the 'doo knowing we were in for some wet condi ons which we definitely received! The message heading out into the first quarter was just to play how we had trained the last few months. We started consistently moving the footy fast but got a bit outclassed around the contest with just not enough want for the ball! A er a stern word at half me with some construc ve cri cism we moved forward. Through the
Reserves: Good to be back into it again. Coming up against the grand finalists from last year was always going to be a test and happily enough we were up to it. A great first half set up the win as not to any one's great surprise fitness fell away in the second half. Massive congratula ons to Shaun Beard who played his 100th game for the club and was excellent. Mark Paech in his return to the club was awarded the Collins Ct Butcher Award, Sandy Cameron –Killara Food Centre, Harry Maddern –Commercial Hotel, Joel Maconachie - Club Tea Award, Shaun Beard – Pick Ave Award and Braidon Frost – Club Tea Award.
Seniors: The boys started off the game well, moving the ball cleanly and fluently, but unfortunately losing a mid rota on in the first quarter, in Ricky Hay doing a knee injury, would later on cause the boys to have to put in a few extra miles through the first half. They maintained their lead and looking very damaging coming out a er half me the boys held their own, un l halfway through the 3rd where we had alot of trouble with cramp and allowed Kalangadoo to get back within reach. The last quarter turned in a goal for goal scenario where unfortunately we had a few extra a empts, but we weren't able to put through the s cks and Kalangadoo managed to finish off ending up on top. Good signs from alot of new players and a few other previous players stepping up to the plate. Looking forward to a good hit out against the Bay when we play for the Bruce Lightbody Memorial Shield.
Social Calendar is beginning to fill up, so keep an eye on the socials for updates. Seafood night is Saturday the 13th May, see a commi ee member for a cket or to book a table (non-seafood op on available).
Well done to the senior women's football team on making the Grand Final last week, missing out on the premiership.
Congratula ons to Evie Sealey being awarded best on ground.

Junior Colts: Last Saturday saw us come up against a tough opposi on in Glencoe. With a team full of new faces, it was always going to be exci ng to see what the team would produce. From the first bounce we were able to see plenty of endeavour and encouragement with the way every player was able to a ack the ball and do what was needed when it was their turn. We managed to get a score on the board early in the first quarter to ease some nerves in the team. From there we played some scrappy football that was expected being our first game together but then followed it up with a strong performance in the last quarter kicking into a slight breeze. It was a team effort that we should be proud of. Best players sponsored by Kaboom Captain Zane Lewis for an all round performance through the midfield. Harry Carroll for some great movement and ball winning up forward and through the mid-field (just need to work on that kicking boot). New player to the club Kane Gilbert who consistently won contested ball and provided drive through the centre and half back lines. Cayden Byrne with some fantas c forward presence and ball use o en resul ng in scores. Harrison Kennion who was excellent in the ruck early then with some amazing defensive efforts deep down back. All the best for this week at Kongorong with a Port Mac Legend in the GREAT Ben McGregor at the helm for the week.
Senior Colts: The boys started the game really well, bringing the heat right from the first bounce with high pressure and intent allowing us to get a nice lead early in some wet condi ons. Throughout the game the boys displayed some great passages of play, some that could be more suited to be er condi ons, but the teamwork, willingness to work for each other and the intent/general idea of how the boys need to play to have a good season were certainly all there. In the end, a great team effort ended up in a 48-point win for our young Demons. Best players sponsored by Alora Conveyancing Luke Richards, Riley Morgan, Alex Lamb, Brodie Anderson, Bradley Neale and Zeb Chant.
B Grade: If you could imagine the opening sequence to Top Gun (’83) and the music that builds with the an cipa on of great things to come, heroic acts and edge of your seat thrills today’s first round of MSE footy delivered! Well…most of it! The crowd turned out to welcome in the new 2023 season and the Bay weather, though it started with rain, finished with plenty of sun. The playing surface, lovingly restored over the summer break, looked like a shining emerald and showed no signs of wet patches, rabbit holes or blatant anklebreaking unevenness with full credit to the ground staff who turned our “muddy patch” into a ground fit for the grand final. With the departure of Ryan Donovan as coach, Adam “Cyril” “Addy” Lewis has once
again taken over the helm and all the headaches that entails. Today’s opening match brought back some sen mental favourites in Ben O’Dine, Ma Roscow and Blake Lynch whose experience showed when the quarters seemed longer and finding that extra breath was almost impossible, moving the ball with precision from the centre half back line providing plenty of opportunity for the younger players in our forward area. Seasoned ruck stalwart Baz O’Dine and Captain Rory Na rass gave the boys plenty of touches from the main bounce and around the ground both rucking and pushing the ball forward at every opportunity, earning them both a berth in the best players. A er a long absence, surprise packet of the day was Jack Cawthorne returning with all the former glory he showed years before , bagging himself a couple of handy goals and using the ball with effortless skill. We can now say we have gravity on our side with “Newton’s” law, as father and son duo, Ben and Tarquin Newton kicked seven goals between them, proving the apple never falls far from the tree! Blair Cu ng booted a triple also and gave us a reliable target up forward and some much needed grunt in the forward line up earning a B.O.G. Ryan Von Stanke, Ma Roscow and Jack Cawthorne all had 2 goals apiece while our up and coming senior colts Alex Lamb, Bradley Neale, Kur s Lasle and newcomer Jai Li le all managed a goal each. The boys did a fantas c job wherever they were placed around the ground and with an energy level that would not have you believe they had just played (and won convincingly) a full game beforehand. With this team lineup and the level of play, today would almost have you thinking that a finals berth may be in the offing, however ,we all know this is only the first match and B Grade at best is a “Mystery Pick” each week! Lack of training, fitness and apathy are the biggest killers of team success and club morale. So I urge you to get out there , train, volunteer for a job, take your turn on the gate or the bbq and support our club. Show everyone why we are a great family club in a great “Family League” because there could be a very different scenario in 2024. If the saying goes “Start as you mean to finish”…..then I feel the need …the need for speed!
A Grade: It was great to get a win. It was good to see the team come together and put to prac ce what we have been working on over the pre season. There are improvements that we can work on but overall for a first game; I was proud of the boys and how they went about their footy Keen to go over to Kongorong and play the Anzac round that I hear is a famously compe ve match between the two clubs. Best players for the day, Tom Sullivan, Aaron Harding, Lockie Tilley, Will Macdonald, Ned Wilke and Mark Smith. Goal kickers, Ned Wilke - 4, Colby Munro, Chis an Howle , Tom Sullivan - 2, Aaron Harding, Jake Schleter, Jake Turner, Adam Kuhl, Zack Williams, Issac Na rass, Kyall McClean - 1.

Senior Colts: New year new team, the boys were keen as mustard to get back out on the track, training hard leading up to round 1. We took on tant on what looked to be a wet day, star ng off an arm wrestle in the first qrt tant decided to put the foot down for the rest of the game out playing us across the ground. Good signs was that our game plan works well when the boys put in the work rate. Something to address this week at training. Best players were Max Robertson, Kaiden Carter, Archie Haggert, Jimmy Murch kicking 4 and Mason Mckenny kicking 1. Incen ves Steve’s place Andrew Wells and Denton sports power Blake Whylie.

B Grade: A er having a great pre-season for the B grade and unable to have a proper trial match as a group, we travelled to Tantanoola to see where we would be in the compe on this year. From the start the team did what was asked of them. Voice, run, keep the ball moving forward and one percenters. This is what we did over all four quarters and it was a relief to see.
Cornish, Paddy, Bram out of the centre ran all day and made sure we locked the ball in our forward half. Bailey Walker at centre half back used his voice to set up the backline. Birdy lead well up forward kicking 6 goals 4. I really could not fault any player on the field. It was a great team effort by all. Thanks to Kaden Carter for his first senior game for the roosters and he kicked himself a lovely goal.
It was a great first game to get the year started and I thank Tantanoola for their efforts. Luckily for us we came away with the win Tantanoola 18 to Robe 128.
I would also like to thank Roly, Henry, Cobba, Bree, Ferg and Deb for helping me get ready for the first game of the round. With out these guys it would not have happened so thank you very much.
Go Roosters!
A Grade: The A Grade match was played in almost perfect football condi ons with a slight breeze favouring the town end of the Tantanoola Oval and no rain.
The first quarter developed into a ba le between the half back lines of both teams as everyone was a bit rusty and constantly turned the ball over. Robe was wayward up forward as the new players to the club were trying to establish a system while Tantanoola had few inside fi ies but got maximum return for their effort and subsequently lead at quarter me.
Robe eventually got its forward system working and con nually kept pushing the ball forward but was having some difficul es conver ng forward entries into goals, while its defence was starving the gers of goal scoring opportuni es.
This trend con nued through the match and Robe did fix its inaccuracy in front of goal and ran out comfortable winners.
Robe had no passengers but was best served by Brown and Du on out of the centre, who used their pace and skill to set up their forwards, Deane at CHB and Hawker at CHF who controlled their spheres of influences and dominated the match while Bryant on the wing used his athle c abili es and penetra ng kick as a link between the defence and the forward lines.

Round 1 saw us host Kongorong on a fine Autumn day. The rain held off a er the under 11s finished, and made for 4 close contests.
Under 11: A huge turnout for Under 11’s last Saturday against Kongorong with over 25 kids turning up for a game. The kids are really star ng to improve and develop into skilful players who are prepared to share the ball and bring their teammates into the game. The parents and kids would really like to thank the Kalangadoo Football Club Commi ee for the purchase of the new playing helmets. The kids enjoyed wearing them and important to enable the kids to be safe whilst playing a game they enjoy.

Under 14: Came up against a much taller and stronger side this week. The kids have definitely improved over the off-season and will definitely upset a few sides this year. Our numbers are really strong with 24 listed to play on Saturday, the future is bright for this group.
Under 17: Started off the day concerned about numbers, having 13 players. Luckily the group is full of quality young players. Connor Gen le kicked 5 on ball and first gamers Bryce and Nate VonstankeDowie dominated the clearances all day, both will be huge assets for the club. Coop McCann was lively up forward as well.
B Grade: A very different side took the field Saturday to take
on Kongorong compared to the stability of the side over the last couple of seasons. Although we welcomed several new players for their first game the lads performed well however were beaten by a much stronger and fi er Kongorong team. Nathan Reeves and Jacob Simmonds were the best players on the ground for Kalangadoo providing really solid defence for the whole game. Big Man Liam Hay was great in the ruck and provided Mark Phillips, Kevin Stark & Nick Jenkins with many clearance opportuni es with all these players being named in the best. Hopefully, we see some players return from injury this week and more players on the training track as we prepare to take on a very strong Robe side
Seniors: Kongorong started very fast and were well and truly on top in the 1st half of the game. Up by 6 goals at one stage. Dylan Bromley kicked 5 and slo ed a crucial goal on half me to edge their lead back to 4 goals. Thankfully first me coach Al rallied the troops a er half me and we ran out victors by 4 goals. Sam Mac was named best on, with Fatchy, Manes and Bomma rounding out the top 4 best players.

Junior Colts: This group of young blokes really impressed last weekend. For being undersized and undermanned they played with a lot of heart. It was a great first step into building something great for the mount burr junior colts. The stand out performers were Finn with some great individual and team efforts and Levi who bagged our only two goals. Reed snagged third best with is consistent run in the guts. 4th through 6th best all went to first me players in Hunter, Jimmy and Louie. These boys showed great courage and got stuck in for their first me. Really excited to see what these boys can do throughout the year
Senior Colts: First game of the year for our colts and we came away with a comfortable win with all players contribu ng well. Good start to what we want to achieve this season. Best players were Kallan Bevan, Charlie Bevan, Sam Hunt, Rylan McKay and Tate Adie.
spoiled everything near him, J Gregory who put in a lion hearted performance in the ruck and J Muhovics who worked hard all game. Thanks to everyone that helped out on the day

A Grade: Footys finally back! Well done to Nangwarry on such a great day for Round 1. A lot of planning & organisa on involved but an awesome moment for both teams to play with/against Dane Swan. Thankfully the weather stayed away for our game and both teams were able to play some good football. A er an even first quarter it was pleasing for our boys to se le and start playing the way we wanted to in the last 3 quarters. Great to have our young guys building on last years efforts and ge ng a reward a er a good preseason. Best players for the day were; T. Allen who competed well all day and never gave up, C. Gamble who was a welcome recruit in the off-season and showed what he’s capable of, S. Wallis who con nues to repel anything that comes his way, A. Ridley who was huge for us in the 1st half and con nued his strong play in the second, B. Poulish who was given a job and did everything we asked of him & J Wallis who presented well all day, competed and ended up with 2 on the board. Goal kickers - D. Ridley 4, J. Gregory 2, J. Wallis 2, T. Allen 2, W. Bowering 2, K. Bevan 1, R. Duncan 1, C. Gamble 1, A. Ridley 1, B. Sandow 1

B Grade: We knew it was going to be a tough game against a Nangwarry opponent who were up and about for the start of the season. We welcomed back a few returning players to our side with DJ, Morrie and Robbo. The first quarter was an even contest before we got on top in the second but just couldn’t put our dominance on the scoreboard. In the third, Nangwarry fought back but our defence held strong and we went into three quarter me only 6 points down. Scores were even with the ball in our forward line for the last 2 minutes of the game but we just couldn’t get the ball through for a score. A e wasn’t what either team hoped for but was probably a fair result given how even the game was. Best players were B Thwaites who kicked superbly all day, B Robbins (2 goals), J Francis who

Junior Colts: We started our year off last week against a strong Robe team but to our boys credit we showed glimpses of how good we can play when we work together as a team. We welcomed some new faces into our team in Jackson and Eli Grant and this week Grace Altshwager will play her first game. Unfortunately the scoreboard didn't show how compe ve we were but as the weeks go on I feel we are gonna click and get some good wins on the board. Best players for us were our two captains Kaden and Jake, Jedd, Hunts and the Bromley boys. Keep workings lads we are heading in the right direc on. Special men on to the three under 11s that came up and will play a lot of games with us this year in Jack, Max and Jackson.
Senior Colts: We kicked off the 2023 season against a very good Robe ou it. With a lot of new guys being welcomed into the side having never played together we weren't sure how the side would gel. A er a very strong first half of moving the ball through the corridor and ge ng our running game going, we managed to kick away. Very proud of the boys four quarter effort and we are excited to see what we can
Reserves: Start of the season saw us facing off against Robe at home. With only 5 of last years players and plenty of new ones, was a great sight to see some instant moulding around each other and new guys picking up the Tiger spirit. Outclassed and outran, Robe took away the win but definitely took so many posi ves out of our first rumble. Looking forward to Mt Burr in a night game to mix it up.
Seniors: A er an excellent preseason with over 15 new faces to the club we took on Robe who have really recruited some great players and are very well structured. We started really well with kicking the first couple and the midfield playing well. The backline ba led all day but Robe slowly started ge ng on top as the game progressed. Their tall side and structure was too strong as they ran out the game. The score board is irrelevant to us as we have a plan with a young group and everyone is working towards our 2023 goal. Best player's Darcy Pink, Braydn Reilly, Will Scanlon, Corey Baker and Brandon Pi s. Good work boys keep ba ling the hard work will pay off.

jami walker tantanoola netball club
Jami has Tigers blood running through her veins. She is a born and bred Tiger, it's not very o en you never see a player stray from their home club and only ever miss a game if they are physically forced to stay home (thanks Covid).
Jami has many accolades to her name from her 200 games including A Grade Best and Fairests and Senior Consistency Awards but one very fond memory for Jami is co-coaching the A Grade side to their first grand final in 36 years in 2018.
Jami lives and breathes Tantanoola Netball and her love and passion for the game shines through every single week. Congratula ons Jami and thank you for being such a vital part of the TNC. Here's to 200 more (and hopefully an A Grade Premiership in there).

GLENCOE v HATHERLEIGH
Hatherleigh head to Glencoe for their first game of the 2023 season to face off against the reigning premiers. Glencoe's Donna Jaeschke and Hatherleigh's Erin Watson will have a tough tussle down the court, with both players figh ng hard for every possession down the court. Eagle defenders Lara MacGregor and Maddie Redman will put the pressure on for Glencoe's Jenna Paproth and Chantelle Cocks, ge ng hands to any loose balls. Murphies Sarah Edwards and Chelsea Owen will fight to create turnovers in Hatherleigh's shoo ng end, snapping up any missed shots. Tegan Telfer will feed well into her goalies, u lising the space and working well with Watson outside the ring. Both teams will fight hard for the win, and this game could be close.
KONGORONG v PORT MACDONNELL
Kongorong host the Demons this Saturday, with both teams hoping to get their first win on the board for the 2023 season. Port MacDonnell's Megan Hein and Kori Collins combine well in the goal circle but Hawks defenders Riley Buckingham and Emily Lightbody will apply intense pressure and chase up any loose balls. Port MacDonnell's Kate Faint and Kongorong's Ebony Lawson will fight hard for their respec ve sides through the court. Kongorong goalies Tilah Buckingham and Sarah Gardin will need to move well in the circle under the ght pressure from Alana Berkefeld and Alysha Coon. Both teams will fight hard for the en re four quarters, working to bring the win home for their respec ve teams.
ROBE v KALNGADOO
Kalangadoo head down to Robe to face off against a strong Roosters side. Robe goalies Demi Carter and Tori Gluyas are strong within the goal circle and shoot with accuracy throughout the game. Kalangadoo's Lauren Kain will need to show leadership and guidance through the defensive end of the court, crea ng pressure and causing turnovers. Down the other end of the court Magpies Abbey Duncan and Ebony McDiarmid will need to move well and shoot with accuracy, to avoid any turnovers by Robe's defenders Emma Grant and Georgia Perkins. Annie Regnier and Emily Hunter's strength around the circle will also create issues for the Kalangadoo a ack line. This will be another tough game with the poten al to go either way
MOUNT BURR v TANTANOOLA
Mount Burr host the Tigers in their first home game for the season. Both teams will come out hard, figh ng to get the points on the board. Mt Burr's Laura Schultz drives hard onto the circle and will feed her goalies, Ebony Clarke and Lauren Wheeler, with pa ence and accuracy. Tantanoola's goalie combina on of Jami Walker and Keryl Ousey are both able to shoot accurately and will be fed well from outside the circle by Casey Walker and Kate Varcoe. Mount Burr defenders Megan Thiele and Olivia Dean will get their hands to any loose balls, and force turnovers from the Tigers with the added pressure from outside the circle from Simone Westerman. Tantanoola are able to pull from a strong defensive line-up consis ng of Emma Gould, Kate Bromley and Tayla Rowe, all of whom work hard and have a significant impact on the final score of the game. This is another game which could be close and has the ability to go either way
