The Breakthrough Community Round started more than three years ago with clubs across a wide range of codes – including football, soccer, netball, rugby, bowls and many, many other clubs held a Breakthrough Community Round as part of its schedule and used the opportunity to raise money by collec ng gold coin dona ons, hos ng barbecues, selling merchandise and dressing up in purple. Clubs also held mental health awareness sessions, talks and panel discussions to increase the discussion of mental health around their communi es. Over the past few years, we've raised more than $100,000 through the Breakthrough Community Round thanks to the incredible efforts of clubs right across South Australia. Spor ng clubs are trusted voices in their communi es and are an ideal vehicle to drive the message about mental health awareness and the need for research to help tackle mental illness head on. Our players will be wearing purple and blue armbands during this weekend's matches to raise funds and awareness. Right now, you or someone you know may be suffering a mental health issue. So, let's look out for one another and get behind Breakthrough to support mental health research and create a life free from mental illness.

BRODIE HENNINK MOUNT BURR football club
This week Mount Burr defender Brodie Hennink will play his 200th senior game for the club. With five A Grade premierships and one B Grade flag, Brodie is one of the most experienced and valued players in the team. Having played his en re junior career with Mount Burr, Brodie is also one of a select group of players who have won premierships in all four grades and has won numerous club awards as well as represen ng the MSE at interleague level. Congratula ons on 200 games Brodie and hopefully the next milestone will be interrup on free.

cooper hamilton TANTANOOLA football club This weekend Cooper Hamilton play his 100th game for the Tantanoola Tigers a er a lengthy lay off with a knee injury, unfortunately one of a couple of injuries throughout his career. Coop’s first game for the Tigers was back in 2013 playing every A Grade game that season. 2014 was a mixture of senior grades but was lucky enough to be part of the B Grade premiership. 2016 was his most successful year personally for the Tigers taking out joint Best and Fairest in another B Grade premiership season and in 2017 Coop won the A Grade Most Improved. He's very popular with teammates, always having their back. Explosive off the mark and always dangerous around goals, Coop is a big fan of trying to uncork the genie and kick the leather off the ball.

ROBE KONGORONG
Junior Colts: We came up against the undefeated Glencoe side who were full on confidence and skill. We too were coming off a couple of decent performances but we were no match on Saturday. We started very slowly and Glencoe got the jump on us kicking a few goals in the opening term and us not scoring. The second term was much be er, we didn’t get pushed off the ball as much and used our skills to our strength. At half me we were 3 goals down. The second half we were blown out of the water. Glencoe looked like they wanted the ball more than us and they capitalised when going inside 50. They ended up running out 10 goal winners. Our best for the day were Brodie Dew who worked hard up forward all day as well as Archie Hagge and Charles Moore in the midfield. We have some work to do this week on the track before we take on the undefeated Kongorong at home this week. Senior Colts: Another fantas c win cked off for the boys, ge ng the win over Glencoe. Star ng off with the wind set us up perfectly, piling on 5 goals to nil in the first quarter, from then on we keep building un l the final siren. Credit to Glencoe who fought all game and were really compe ve around the contest and hungry to score, but just lacked a few bigger bodies to compete. Best players were Mason Keane, Hudson Peel, Ollie McInnes, Ollie Hagge and Codee Weston. Major goal scorers 5 to Ollie McInnes, 3 each to Joel Bryant and Mason McKenny. Incen ves went to Cooper Thomas and Codee Weston. B Grade: We travelled across to Glencoe, had a few boys out due to injury and personal commitments, although the team played a great brand of footy and got the job done. A lot of posi ves came out of the day with many of the boys ge ng plenty of touch and run in the legs. Best players went to Josh Wilson, Jed Regnier and Jordan Pe t, Harry Hooper and Tom Emery. This week we play Kongorong at home, hopefully we

can con nue our good form. A Grade: Last week we trekked all the way down to Glencoe for a fierce ba le and looking for our second win. A er coming off an ANZAC Day loss the week before, the Robe boys were keen to get back onto the winners list. The morning presented as a sunny beau ful day but as the day progressed some rain appeared but quickly disappeared again. There was a strong breeze to the netball end which would affect the goal kickers. From the opening bounce, both teams were keen to assert themselves early without anyone taking clear control. With the light rain dampening the oval it made it difficult for both teams to handle the ball cleanly. We kicked into the wind in the first quarter and managed to kick 2 goals to Glencoe's 3 points. In the second quarter, the scrappy play con nued with the ball rebounding back and forth from both teams' backlines. The Robe backline of James Francisco, Sam Huebner, Jack Sneath, Jasper Barre , Lachlan Hentschke and Egan Reginer held strong. Lachlan making it difficult for the Glencoe forwards to mark the ball inside their forward 50. We started to wrestle control of the game kicking 3 more goals to Glencoe's 2 for the quarter. We went into half me with a 22-point lead which by no means was a comfortable lead. The second half would decide the game. The game well and truly broke open and Robe midfielder Samuel Clements started to take control of the game. Harry McInnes was a clear target up forward and kicked 6 with his younger brother Ollie kicking 3 of his own. We piled on 13 goals in the second half and were penetra ng our forward 50 on several occasions. Glencoe fought gallantly and never gave up with Sam Giersch leading the way. We came away with an 82-point win to talk about on the way home. Next week, we stay at home taking on Kongorong and looking for our 3rd win for the season. See you there Rooster fans.

ROBE KONGORONG
It was an honour to host RSL representa ves Mr Bob Sandow and Mr Ross (Lo y) Anderson, along with Salva on Army bugler Tim Frost for our ANZAC Day Match. Together with Mr Donald Rogers, who a ended to award the best on ground medal in memory of his brother John Rogers, it made for a very special day. Harrison Evans was chosen by the field umpires to receive the John Rogers Memorial Medal, the 15th occasion this has been awarded. Congratula ons also to Riley Buckingham on the ANZAC Day Medal in the A Grade netball, and also the team on a great win! It was good to get four wins from four last week, we must build on that momentum now, and in the coming months. Games reviews are as follows: Under 11: A er a week off the under 11's were very excited to be back playing football. We welcomed Jackson to the team playing his first game for the club. Thank you to the players that filled in for Nangwarry so we could have an even number across the field, which made a very exci ng game of footy. The ball skills are improving weekly, which is resul ng in great passages of play. Thank you again to all the umpires. Coaches Award - Billy Angelino, Club Award - Aus n Bowering, Donut King Mitchell Bowering. Junior Colts: Was good to be back on our home deck with almost a full side, as we welcomed an underman and undersized Nangwarry. Once again, we had to loan players across to make a game and thank you to all the players who spent me across for the Saints, as you all con nued to play good hard footy. We seemed to have the best condi ons for the day and jumping out the blocks early and never looked back for the 4 quarters. Best players again could have gone to absolutely everyone on the ground all were in amongst it, but best on ground and the Rarcoola Structural Award went to Blake Telford who played in several different posi ons and half a game across. Cur s Page second best and the Rocks Shop Award, 1st season at the club and constantly put in some of the toughest posi ons on the ground and another played half a game for the Saints. Ryan Taylor 3rd best while s ll learning the game as 1st year of footy always looks to provide plenty of run and bring teammates in around him received the Spot On Fishing Award. Mick Mullan Award went to Jacko Bald who had his dancing shoes on and provided plenty of run off the bank flank to set up several goals. Coach's Award went to Zayne Parson who is improving every week and really learning the game while finding himself in the right posi ons. Rounding out the best players, Noah Vs-D who gets played in numerous different posi ons each week, enjoys a bit of crash and bash and always 1st gives to teammates received the Janeway Plumbing Award. tough ask next up as we head to Robe, in what is always a tough game of footy and a good challenge for our young Hawks. Go Hawks. Senior Colts: Another great win for the great bunch of lads. It was very pleasing to see the way the players that made up the numbers for the Nangwarry side conducted themselves, such as Jake Carrigan kicking to a young Nangwarry player in front of goals rather than kick it himself, showing great sportsmanship. Tyler Richardson con nues to let his footy do the talking and was best on the day. Campbell Graney is having a ripper year so far, coming in second best. Mackye Baron con nued his great start to the season in 3rd, with Bryce Von StankeDowie playing his best game for the year in fourth. Rounding out the best players were Kur s Lasle and Ryan Angelino. This week we get a few back from Covid and hope to have the whole team available to take on Robe on their home ground. Reserves: Scrappy game early, par cularly the first quarter, but we worked our way through it to come out on top against the Saints. Nangwarry pressured us all day and it took us a while to adjust and handle it. Very nice to get the win, and with the A Grade winning, it topped off a good day for the club. Callum Morrison is li ing with each game under his belt, and received the Collins Court Butcher Award. Dan Hann is carving it up and earnt the Commercial Hotel Award, Riley Maconachie took home the Club Tea Award as well as Andrew (Chris Judd) Telford. Harry Maddern was awarded the Pick Ave Bakery & Deli Voucher, and celebrated well into the night! Another big test this week against Robe. A Grade: Was good to finally have nearly a full squad to choose from and get them on the park. With plenty of a acking footy the boys started to gain a bit of confidence, and hopefully can carry that into this week against Robe. Harry Evans took home the Commercial Hotel Award (together with the John Rogers Memorial Medal) for his solid four quarter effort. Ma Cordy again led from the front to receive the Collins Court Butcher Voucher. Fraser Brewster has been working hard to solidify his spot in the side, ge ng the Club Tea Award along with Jacka Ryan whose silky skills are a great asset to the team. Young gun Jake Whi y rucked for a lot of the game and received the Pick Ave Bakery Voucher, and Kouta Lightbody rounded out the best. Congratula ons to all trophy winners from last weeks U16 Girls & Women's Footy Presenta ons. Thank you to all our volunteers that help get us through every game day, your efforts don't go unno ced and are always appreciated by the Commi ee. Good luck to all football and netball teams at Robe this week.

I would also like to remind players and supporters that we are s ll on the hunt for a few more junior and senior colts players. If you know of anyone who might be a er a game please contact Tamara, Shane, Chris or Jamie and we would be more than willing to contact them. Under 11: Good job by our under 11s always show up ready to have a crack regardless of numbers or the weather. Good ball movement again, really good on our ground balls and good teamwork overall for the day! Junior Colts: We ventured to Kongorong knowing the tough task that was in front of us against the reigning premiers. To our guys’ credit they never gave up all day and put together some good passages of play that was disappoin ng not to see them get

rewarded on the scoreboard. To the Hawks credit they are an impressive team the way they move the ball and with their size all over the ground will take some catching this season. Thanks to Graham and the Hawks for the loan of 4 players over the game. Be er players for us were captain Tayte who gave his all for the game, Calais and Josh giving plenty of run through the midfield, Harvey who even with being undersized s ll is around every contest. Wya tried all day at full back being kept busy and young under 11 Blake who con nues to impress each week. We welcome Pt Mac next home game where we'll look to bounce back and get a win. Senior Colts: Yet again we were up against a very strong opposi on side in Kongorong who will certainly be one of the top 3 sides come the end of the season. I'd like to thank Je A ard and his team in providing us numbers to get a game underway. Although it was a big loss as far as the margin goes, what was pleasing to see was our ability to score when the opportunity presented itself. It's one thing to lose but if we are to win games we have to be able to score. I'd like to also congratulate the Junior Colts who each week step up and contribute with the Senior Colts. You are all doing a terrific job. Goal scorers were Noah and Tayte Virtanen with 2 goals each. Best players Ty Dinnison, Noah Virtanen, Riley Edwards, Tayte Virtanen, Taj Bell and Jordan Dinnison. B Grade: Hi all. We took on a very good Kongorong side the back line a fantas c 4 quarters. There were some very pleasing signs, with some players playing their first game for the club. So let's get out to training and I'm sure we can get a win against Port Mac this week. Best: S. Brooksby, Hoody, Hayden Sanders, C. Hicks, Josh Mills, Nick Rowe, Kobi White. Goals: C. Hicks 3. A Grade: On what was a big day celebra ng ANZAC Day our boys couldn't get the job done. We had plenty of inside 50s but couldn't make the most of our opportuni es while Kongorong made us hurt when we did turn it over. We ran the game out well which shows that fitness isn't a problem, we were hurt with injuries but that took nothing away from the way Kongorong went about it being clearly the be er team on the day. This week we host the Bay and have our first func on in the club which is exci ng. Cheers LT

Junior Colts: Last Saturday we took on Mt Burr although they were a few players short they proved to be very compe ve. We started off conges ng the play, but once we started opening up the play and the receivers were ge ng into correct posi ons to get the ball we looked a much be er team. Our third quarter was very good and it was very pleasing to see the kids sharing the ball and protec ng their teammates. All of the kids who went over to the opposi on team gave their all and should be very proud of their efforts. Our best players for the day were Harry Carroll who worked extremely hard all day racking up the possessions. 2nd Kai Gilmore who is a touch of class and is having a great season so far. 3rd was Nash Perryman who has a great footy brain and always looked to do the right thing by his teammates. 4th was Josh Virgo who con nues to improve each week and did a great job playing down at full back. 5th was Zane Lewis who con nues to hunt, chase and read the play excep onally well. 6th was Je Lewis who played a great team game se ng up numerous goals with his 1, 2 gives and protect. Well done to Kade Gilmore who kicked his first goal. Also men on must go to Tyler Neal who gave his all when he went on the opposi on side and then had the play of the day when he came back over to our side. Overall it was a great team effort. B Grade: A er a really tough game the previous week we headed off to Mt Burr for the rescheduled round 4 game. trying to find players, in fact he looked a li le lost when he had a full team ready to take to the field. The searching was le to the team manager to try and find water boys and boundary umpires. Unfortunately the lack of training and playing together did take its toll as the game went on, as always there was no lack of effort shown by the boys and they kept on task right un l the end of the game. Hopefully the boys will all come back this week and even maybe a night of training and things will start going our way. Best for the week: Jacob Spehr, Adam Richards, Ryan Von Stanke, Nathan Tilley, Morgan Feast and Dylan Lewis. A Grade: A er a tough loss in the grand final reply from last year, the senior team headed off to Mt Burr looking to get back on the winners list. The start to the season has been less that smooth with injury and health and safety issues but all through these issues, everyone has kept on task and kept working hard at training and as the season goes on hopefully the rewards will come. The game was a ght contested affair, with both teams only being separated by no more than a few goals all through the match. A er 4 quarters of footy the final margin was only 2 goals thankfully to our favour. Best for the week was Wade Chant, Tim Sullivan, Ben O'Dine, Brandon Newton, Kyall McClean and Rhys Timms. This week we are off to Nangwarry, then the following week we have out first home game against Robe. This is also going to be the first social event of the year - Bogan Bingo which is looking to be a great night with fun for all. 4th qtr

MOUNT BURR KALANGADOO
Junior Colts: Last week we came up against some strong opposi on in Pt Mac. We were very grateful for them to lend some players and have a game on the day and we really appreciate it. The boys’ effort was definitely there and all the boys had a real crack, they should be very proud of themselves. Best players were Heath Johnston, Jayden Garner, Reed Gardner, Finn Woolston, Jordan Burchell and Charlie Bevan. All the boys played well and made it very difficult for us to pick the best. Cheers, Tom
It was a really important result for our young side and gives us encouragement that, as a team, we are heading in the right direc on. Best players on the day were Geordie Whennan, Lachie Alcock, Jack Hateley, Tom Hales (5 goals), Je Bowering and Jayden Poulish. Thanks to everyone that helped out on the day.
Senior Colts: Last week the Senior Colts had a good win over Pt Mac. The boys played some good team football and got the result they deserved. With more hard work on the track the boys should be in for an enjoyable season. Best players were Kallan Bevan back from his Glenelg team led from the front, Johnny Wimshurst was solid all day, Deklan Brant up from Junior Colts had a great game in defence, Calum Sparkes controlled the ruck all day and Charlie Bevan also up from Junior Colts showed his versa lity all game. B Grade: On Saturday we recorded one of our best wins in the B Grade for some me. It was great to have a number of players back from Covid and we managed to field our strongest team of the year. We came out on fire in the first quarter and took a 5 goal lead into the first break. To Port Mac’s credit they fought back really well in the second and third quarters before we ran away with the game in the last. 2nd qtr

TANTANOOLA GLENCOE
Today we welcome Glencoe to Tigerland where we will play for the Neil Von Duve Trophy. Neil was a fantas c club person for both clubs and it is a privilege that we get to play in his honour. Thank you to players and supporters who went back to The Somerset last weekend, it was a great turnout and we encourage our club members to support those who support us! Thank you to our valued sponsors who have signed up for this season so far. If you would like to sponsor or know someone who would like to please see Julie-anne Cytrowski or Janice Kelly to view our packages, there is something for everyone. May 21st will be Miss Tiger which is a night sure to be filled with plenty of laughter. Tickets are $10 and can be purchased from Emma Gould or Jami Walker, families are welcome with Under 12's free. See posters around the club or our Facebook page for more informa on. Under 11: Playing against Hatherleigh both teams had good numbers which allowed a large oval to be made to open up the game and allow the kids some space to play into. Our kids were a bit sleepy the first third but once they got going played a really hard game. The kids tackling and a ack on the ball is ge ng be er every week and it's great to see them developing and having fun. Awards went to Jobe Bell, Zac Chapple, Abbi Brown, Kaiden Shawyer, and Jack Rowe. Junior Colts: We came up against a strong Hatherleigh side with plenty of numbers last week and good old Covid and a few family commitments stole a few of our bigger boys but to the boys credit they fought hard and gave their all all day. Thanks to Dyl Clough and his boys for helping us out with a few players, hopefully we get our full side back on the park this week. Our best players were Kaden, Summer, Lucas, Jayden and Kobe. Keep training and enjoying our footy boys and that win will come soon Senior Colts: Great to be back playing footy a er a couple of weekends off. It was always going to be a tough task heading out to

Hatherleigh but the boys ba led hard. Our first 10 minutes of the game and our last 10 minutes of the game showed to be our best patches of footy for the day. We will work on ge ng those gaps closer together and maybe playing 10 minutes of good footy in each quarter. Great effort by the junior colt lads who step up and get involved, many thanks to Jed Telfer and the Hatherleigh boys for being proac ve and posi ve, ge ng the best out of the game. Be er players were Braydn Hateley, Brayden Rowe, Jack (S x) Cytrowski, Ashley Foulds and Kaden Bell rounded out the five. Reserves: Round 4 saw us at Hatherleigh against the Eagles. A fairly hard slog resulted in a defeat but with plenty to take out of the game. Moments of our hard contes ng and pressure gave us some good insight of what we can achieve in the weeks to come with Blake Bowman receiving best on ground for us by leading by example. The other best players were Sil Bowering, Chris McCallum, Coop Hamilton on his first game back and Jack Patzel. Glencoe this week and if we show the same spirit I'm sure we can get a win on the board. A Grade: Last week we were on the road to Hatherleigh for our first away game for the year. Coming into the game a couple men down shook a few confidences but to the senior boys credit they came out raring to play and went hard as nails. By not conver ng early on our set shots we shot ourselves in the foot a bit but to Hatherleigh’s credit they kept coming and coming and eventually ran over our boys in the end. Plenty of credit to the Tant seniors, players playing injured, sore or red, ressies boys backing up for a 2nd game. A lot of heart played in the game. Best in no order were Corey Barre , Jordan Ha , Troy Ha , Roy Osborne and Darcy Pink. www.tantanoolafootballclub. spor ngpulse.net Find us on Facebook: Tantanoola Football and Netball Club

TANTANOOLA GLENCOE
Last week we welcomed Robe to the Mecca, and they brought some high-quality teams with them. Our major sponsor for the day was the OK Pie Shop. Thanks to all the volunteers for the day, they seem to be few and far between some mes and it helps when the same people aren't always ge ng stuck with more and more jobs. The Junior Colts con nued their undefeated season so far, as they faced a very good Robe side. It was a bit of an arm wrestle un l we kicked away in the second half and came away with a very solid 48-point win. These kids are playing fantas c footy, and it is great to see them ge ng the results on the board. It must be due to their 3-minute planking drill at the end of every training, got to build those core muscles somehow. Best players were Tighe Hurley, Hamish Gordon, Kallan Price, Lachlan Brierley, Jake Thompson and Jack McGrath. The Senior Colts managed to recruit some fill ins for the weekend, but unfortunately came up against an undefeated Robe side. This was our biggest squad of the year, but we weren't quite good enough to get the win, although the boys put in a great fight and challenge what will be one of the best sides of the year. Thanks to those boys that played and hopefully they con nue to fill in when available and con nue playing senior footy at the club in the future. Best players were Cam Brooks, Patrick Langsmith, Aiden Hurley, Nick Adams, Harrison Mitchell and Kieron Rigney. The Reserves once again were short on players Thursday night 2nd qtr
3rd qtr
and needed some fill ins to make up the numbers. Injuries and player unavailability are becoming far too common for the Reserves this year. Expremiership player Anthony Cary pulled on the boots for the first me since 2012 and looked like he should never have re red. The boys got off to a bad start and were outmatched by a muchimproved Robe side that ran over us all game. Only a few goals in the last quarter made the score look slightly respectable for us. Best players were Anthony Cary, Trent Hawke, Taylor McGrath, Harry Comley and Marcus McGrath. The Seniors got some players back from last weekend, but also had some outs as well. They came into the game with the expecta on of winning. Unfortunately, Robe brought their 'A' game, and we were not good enough for 4 quarters. Losing 2 players in the first 5 minutes didn't help and this affected our rota ons. Robe played fast football and we got caught ball watching, being outscored 13–4 goals a er hal ime. Best players were Sam Giersch, Jack Edmonds, Patrick Mitchell, Tom Edwards, Dylan Pfitzner and Ben Hentschke. Today we play Tantanoola, in a must win game for all sides to con nue to keep in contact with the top 4. Hopefully our brand new guernseys will be here for the game and they all fit. A er the game we have our first Rump and Red Night being held at the RSL star ng at 6:30/7:00. A bus will be returning to Glencoe a er the event. Looking forward to a big night to celebrate some wins. 4th qtr

ROUND 5 A GRADE NETBALL PREVIEW ROBE v KONGORONG Robe will be looking to boost their percentage this week when they take on Kongorong at home. However, the Hawks won't go down without a fight a er celebra ng their first A Grade win since 2019 against Nangwarry in Round 4. Robe's Sarah Laurie and Tori Gluyas are a focal point in the circle and are both very accurate. The Hawk's defensive pressure from Sarah Lucas, Riley Buckingham and Emily Lightbody will make it difficult to feed into the circle. Alannah Jennings will put the pressure on for Kongorong's goalies Tilah Buckingham and Evie Sealey and will be ready to fight for any poten al rebounds. The combina on of Lucy Perkins and Annie Hunter down the court for Robe will make for a steady game, with the Roosters coming away with the points at the end of the game.
NANGWARRY v PORT MACDONNELL The Demons will head to Nangwarry this week, with the hopes of coming away with their second win for the season.
Hayley Burner and Shannon Higgins will combine in the defensive circle for the Saints, pu ng pressure on Toni Gilmore and Brooke Williams. Gilmore's accuracy in the goal circle is a crucial part of the Demons' a ack. Liza Mutch and Ebony Lawson will both fight to work the ball down the court for their respec ve teams. Alana Winter's defensive pressure for the Demons will force Nangwarry's a ack to earn every goal. This game has the poten al to be a close one, however the Demons will finish the day with the points.
MOUNT BURR v KALANGADOO Mount Burr will be hos ng the Magpies this week, and both teams will be ready to fight for the win. Ebony Clark's accuracy in the goal circle for the Mozzies will get them off to an early lead. Georgia Gen le and Lauren Duncan will combine well in the defensive circle for the Magpies, forcing any errors for Mt Burr's goalies. Madi Hagge and Olivia Dean will create every possible opportunity for a turnover in the defensive circle for Mt Burr.
Kalangadoo's Maddy Bonanno and Kori Collins will be fed accurately by Jayde Peacock and Sophie Wrightson. A er a tough tussle, Mt Burr will come out victorious.
TANTANOOLA v GLENCOE Tantanoola are set to host Glencoe in this week's match of the round. Glencoe's Donna Jaeschke drives hard down the court and accurately feeds her goalies, Malinda Markiewicz and Jenna Paproth. However, Kate Bromley and Tayla Rowe will be pu ng the pressure in Tant's defensive circle, making Glencoe's goalies earn every possession and figh ng for any poten al rebounds. Down the other end of the court Emma Gould will con nue to shoot with accuracy, combining with Jami Walker. Kristy Varcoe will fight for every possession down the court for the Tigers, chasing any poten al loose balls and feeding her goalies with accuracy. This game will be one to watch, with match ups all down the court, however, Glencoe's strength will help them to secure the points.

NETball club notes Junior 2: What a great game of Netball! The improvement these girls have shown in just a few weeks is amazing. You could see all the girls thinking about what they've been learning at training and pu ng it into their game. Everyone was leading into space which resulted in a few great passages of play down the court. The defence worked relessly crea ng many turnovers and the a ack line worked hard to get the ball into the ring, and even managed to score a couple of goals! The award went to Madison for a great game in defence ge ng many hands to balls. Well done girls! Junior 1: We took that 1st quarter to warm up and get se led. But a er that you made some huge improvements throughout each quarter. There was some great foot work and in the last quarter we really started to lead in front which made the game flow much smoother. Great stuff girls, you all played very well as a team and had lots of fun which is great. Incen ve: Alexis Roach. Can't wait to get back to my girls this week and work on some more skills. 13 & Under: Robe 15 Glencoe 32. A great game last Saturday against Glencoe to work on our skills that we have been developing at training over the past few weeks. Unfortunately, we went down by a fair few goals in the end, however we were happy that the girls were able to keep their determina on, with our fourth quarter being our highest scoring quarter. We again tried a few combina ons in order to establish a founda on for the year ahead - only up from here! For the next few trainings, we will con nue to develop skills such as clearing out, defensive pressure, rebounding, turn and block and most importantly front cu ng. It's great to see the girls beginning to chase every loose ball, allowing us the upper hand in our chance to score. Once again, a special men on to Lacey who is absolutely killing it at WD, giving it her all and ge ng ample touches every game (even when the opponent may be double her height). Holly really began to get her feet and is beginning to get important intercepts when we need them. Olivia kept pressure high in the defensive third all game whilst Aleisha had her hands over every ball and began to take clean intercepts using her outside arm. Tess and Milla held a strong founda on in the a ack line, prac cing double dodges and front cuts throughout the game. Millie and Kaitley worked well together in the goal ring against some tough defence! Best player (Robe Seafood & Takeaway) went to Tess Gibbons for her consistency and versa lity throughout the whole game. We gave the incen ve (Union Café) to Aleisha Hawkins for taking on Ellen's (team manager) advice, showing ght defensive pressure in the goal ring. 15 & Under: Robe 27 Glencoe 24. I'm so proud of all of you for this game. With all the changes made you s ll managed to hold on to the win. The hardest thing about having 10 players each week is making sure everyone gets a chance to play some good netball, which isn't always possible. Each one of your a tude's yesterday was great, on and off the court. We started off a bit slow and made a few mistakes which kept the game very low scoring, with a swi change at quarter me we were able to revert back to what we know and slowly get moving to gain the lead we needed to keep the game ours. Was great to see everyone put in 100% wherever they were put, as we made lots of changes. Best player (Steve's Place) went to Georgie Wirth who created so much play and drive to everyone and put the pressure on when needed. Incen ve (Loaves & Fishes) went to Charlie Rayner for a strong game at WD and GK. 17 & Under: Robe 46 Glencoe 24. Yes girls! Ge ng us back into that top 4 posi on. We started off a bit slow and needed a li le rev up but a er that we came out firing and played our game! We honestly needed an incen ve for every player. We all played the team game and backed each other up - it was great to watch! Fantas c to see what we work on at trainings are coming out in our games now. Train hard, play hard and this definitely shows on the court. Best player
NETball club notes (Pure Luxe) went to Maddie Wirth for such a consistent game in defence and really working on her footwork to get clean intercepts. Incen ve (Me & Miss Jones) went to Billie Carter for li ing her game and adjus ng her a tude. However, as we men oned we honestly could give one to everyone. Let's keep up the awesome work and show Kongorong what we've got. B Reserve: Robe 27 Glencoe 54. The Murphies umpire said at the final whistle that it was a nice game to umpire. This is a credit to our a tude on court and our approach to each other. The a ack end struggled a bit but played fairly well. At mes our movement down the court was dodgy but we were mindful of playing our own game. There were some definite close tousles which made effec ve passing difficult as we put our players under pressure. If it's not on it’s not on. The defence combo however of Amanda Clarke (Calcu a, Steve's Place) and Rhiannon Maczkowiack (incen ve, The Union) were nothing but dogged and determined all game. You have been working really hard on your game on match day and at training and it shows. Captain Robyn was consistent and deserves a men on. As does our Team Manager Queen B who brought sugar and OJ - go a luv it. Thanks to Sienna Brooks in her second senior game who slipped into goals for us and helped us out where we were lacking. You were a pleasure to play with young Brooksy thank you. This week Kongorong with our first full side of the season. Looking forward to this. B Grade: Robe 30 Glencoe 39. So, last week's game was tough with 4 of our players out, we were le with half a side. I cannot thank Maddie, Libby, Billie and Hayley enough for si ng bench and playing. Libby and Maddie worked great in defence, along with Kellie who got her hands to so many balls. Sophie and Emma helped slow the play down the court with Alex working well against her defence players. Again, thank you to the 17s who filled in. Incen ve (Steve's Place) went to Kellie Skeer for a fabulous game in WD and calcu a (The Eighth Le er) went to Alex Grimes for a great game in goals. A Reserve: Robe 48 Glencoe 35. Great win ladies, we did it with control and had fun doing it. Welcome back to netball Georgia! Was great to have you back, even if it's only for 1 game before A Grade take you! Your determina on and skill are amazing to watch and we love playing with you. Our a ack line was great, Demi, Ash, Skimmer and Keelin working together and playing some great netball. Even though it was a bit slower (thanks to me) it seemed to work well and will only get be er as we go along. Kez at WD, certainly the posi on you love the most, arms everywhere and back up in every way possible right down the court. Defence of Geo and Kim what a combina on! Kim's strength under the ring is so good to watch, just knowing that rebound will be hers is an asset to our team. Never forge ng Maisie and Ella who sit bench and support us each week, we love having the both of you and know you can step into any posi on if we need you. The best part about our game was the smiles, we had so much fun playing together and we felt like a team the whole game. Well done girls, cannot wait to see what we've go in store once we hit full strength this season. Calcu a (Loaves & Fishes) went to Demi Carter, amazing game at GS and Incen ve (Salubrious Hour) went to Keelin Winterfield for her beau ful drives and team work with a ack. A Grade: Robe 52 Glencoe 50. What a great team game and fight to the end. With a full team we made changes each quarter, which showed how versa le we are. Each player showing they deserved to be in the side. With most of the game being goal for goal, it was great to show that have what it takes to fight to the end and come away with the win. A special men on to Tori who had a boomer in goals and moved well in the circle. Calcu a (Holiday) went to Ellen Ramke, for a great game in WD, ge ng lots of touches and incen ve (Me & Miss Jones) going to Alannah Jennings had a great game in GK.
Last week we welcomed Nangwarry to Kongorong to celebrate our ANZAC round. Riley Buckingham was named most valuable player on court in the A Grade game. Junior 2: Despite the wind and the cold, the girls did really well. They were put in some different posi ons for the first half, but they all did very well to get it from one end to the other. There were a few turnovers in the mid court, Nangwarry having a couple of taller players but our girls kept trying really hard to get it back down to Lily and Alyssa to get a few shots up. Award: Lily T – Kongorong canteen voucher Junior 1: On the court early and raring to go, the mini Hawks came out strong from defence through to the centre to the goals. A lot of intercep ons, defence and chasing the ball was a big improvement this week. Well done to all the team. Awards: Sophie – Donut King, Claire – Kongorong canteen voucher and Havvi – Crave Dessert Bar. 13 & Under: We had a strong start to the game, with us shoo ng 5 goals to Nangwarry's 7 in the first quarter. Defence was strong, and the girls all put in effort front and back of the court. In total, we shot 10 goals, the highest amount all season! The girls worked well together and suppor ng each other during the game. Stepping is s ll a factor for our girls on court, but they are improving each match! The best players of the match were Abby Brant, awarded $10 thanks to the Angelino family and Paige Telford, awarded a Crave voucher. 15 & Under: There were some good passages of play with chasing those loose balls that resulted in goals, we s ll need to focus on some of our passing and ge ng in front of our players. Thank you to the u13s that filled in for us. Awards: Zahli - Kongorong canteen and Kyla - Boost Juice. 17 & Under: The girls came away with a comfortable win which was great to see as we need to try and push for higher percentage if we're wan ng a shot at finals. We started off very strong and had a comfortable lead from the end of the first quarter. This allowed us to make some changes at half me bringing on u15 player Thalia Von Stanke who played her second game of under 17's this season, she certainly doesn't look out of place and slots into our team very well. I'm very proud of the girls’ efforts to give 100% and keep pushing hard to increase the score
line. Marnee Formosa was a standout playing slightly out of posi on playing GD but certainly made the most of it crea ng numerous turnovers ge ng lots of hands to the ball and forcing errors for the other team, deserving her best player for the day (Spring Collec ve). Pheobe Beare got our second best, playing a great and consistent four quarters in WA and GA proving how much of an asset she is in the team (Donut King). B Reserve: What an awesome game girls. You all gave 100% and were focused on ge ng the job done. Macy, Courtney and Tamika played well in defence ge ng mul ple turnarounds. Elly and Alex were on with their goals and Stacey shot well in the last quarter. Natalie, Alisha and Le a worked hard through the centre. With this being our second game with the whole team you are working really well together. Keep up the good work. Awards: Elly - Fasta Pasta and Le a - Chemist King. B Grade: Fantas c game girls. Everyone gave 100%. The work that we have been doing at trainings with our cu ng in front and holding our leads is working well making space through the middle of the court. Our defence worked hard all day and our a ack fed well into the goalies who in windy condi ons finished off strong. See you when I get back from slacking off in Noosa! Don't forget the ball bag Sarah. Evolve Hair & Beauty - Sarah, Birdie Blue Milla. A Reserve: What a great four quarter effort ladies! Consistently in posi ons provided key as connec ons and confidence grew throughout the game. Let's take that into this week and con nue to build. Awards: Sam - Arena and Jessie - Fi h & Madison. A Grade: Woohoo, finally! It's been a long me coming, but all the hard work we've put in has finally paid off. I am so proud of you guys for running the game you did, not having a consistent four quarters is what has let us down in the past so we have proven to ourselves that we have it in us to play compe ve and successful netball. The fact that we were able to extend our lead in the second half and hold it l the end of the game shows the confidence that we have in each other to fight for the win. Everyone played so well and I'm so proud of you all, now we get ready to push again. Awards: Riley - Birdie Blue and Sarah - Springs Collec ve/Crave Dessert Bar.

Everyone is working hard and improving every game. We have been ge ng the loose balls and great intercep ons. Proud of all you girls effort you’ve been pu ng in. Best player went to Leah - Penola Recycling award, leading towards the free space and many intercepts. Junior 1: Good game girls. Welcome Izzy to our team. You all played really well and were always giving it your all. Very versa le with all the different posi ons played. Great to see hands up and great backing each other up. Used your voices really well. Well done to Immy for best player (Pines Hotel voucher). Izzy played so well for her first game and has a lot of poten al. 13 & Under: Great team effort. We started slow only being up two goals at first quarter break. A er a few changes we improved in second quarter and we con nued to get be er each quarter. However, we did not a empt anything we went through at training and players need to listen and try to change so we can be a be er team. Ruby played well at GK again ge ng her hands to many balls. Ella C con nues to pass accurately into the goal circle. Paige worked hard and receive turnovers. Kaylee tried her best and rebounded strongly when went defence. CJ hurt his knee but returned to court and drove ball out of D. Skye played well in defence and made big difference when went into goals. James had a great game at WA passing well and driving to the circle. Donut King award went to Ella S who shots most of our goals and created space opening up the a ack line. Well done all. 15 & Under: Another great win girls. The
NETball club notes first quarter was tough, but everyone li ed their game for the rest of the game. A few errors were made but nothing that can't be improved. Thank you to Kaylee and Skye who filled in again for us. Best player this week was Kiara Epiha for her hard work and effort on the game 17 & Under: Not our best game girls, we just out of the bat seemed a bit flat and nothing seemed to work well like previous weeks. Although I am glad that everyone kept their heads up and kept going regardless. Our perseverance saw us improve as the game went on. Was good to see people trying different posi ons and doing well there, nice to know you are all capable of playing elsewhere. Defence put in all game ge ng many intercepts and some of our plays were great when we were pa ent and took our me. So well done girls, let’s really try hard this week for the win. Donut King award went to Tanisha for her great defence and doing exactly what I ask of her. B Reserve: Tough game with a few things we need to work on. Well done to Tamara for giving it your all in goal defence you did very well. Last quarter we completely mixed things up and flipped the court completely, everyone tried really hard in different posi ons. Well done to Amy for shoo ng 2 goals. Best players: Pauline Trigger, Amy Long. B Grade: In windy condi ons and another week of us missing players I think you should all hold your heads up high and the effort that you put in. We always knew it was going to be tough with the strength of Kongorong’s goalies but we stayed posi ve throughout the game. Thank you to the girls who stepped up in posi ons they haven’t had to train or play in yet. You did exactly what I asked. We are going to have another tough game ahead of us. But if we can keep improving and keep the posi vity up you will see our games ge ng be er. Best players: Ellie Jones and Skye Fox. A Reserve: Another close game girls, but each week we are improving. Last week saw us make more changes due to unavailability and everyone really put their all in it. Well done to Hayley and Shandeen for stepping out of their comfort zones and trying different posi ons, you both did great. Defence worked hard all game with Jemma and Shandeen combining well and Hannah on the wing taking some great balls. Tamara ran hard all game and worked ball around circle with Taysha pa ently wai ng for right opening to Hayley and Cassie and feeding well. Tough condi ons for shoo ng but goalies finished off rela vely well. Once we finally get everyone consistently on a Saturday with limited changes things will just happen. Hold heads up high girls s ll did great last week. Keep up the intensity this week. A Grade: We travelled to Kongorong and what a game it was. Unfortunately we didn't come away with the win but the girls worked hard for 4 quarters. We had some amazing passages of play, a few passes let us down which Kongorong capitalised on but all in all we should be happy with our game. I look forward to finally playing a game soon with our full team. We have so much poten al, let's work hard at training and try and keep our heads up as we are a compe ve team and I know we can do it. Best players picked by the umpires were Hayley Burner and Shannon Higgins.
The Port MacDonnell Netball Club would like to congratulate Briodie Wilson on playing 250 games against Mt Burr on Saturday. A wonderful achievement! Congratula ons also to Brooklyn Jones who played her 50th game. We would like to acknowledge our voucher/encouragement award sponsors: Baker’s Delight, Bay Pizzaria, The Victoria Hotel Port Mac, Parade Fish and Chips, Boost Juice, Chemist King, Donut King, Fasta Pasta, Grantville Court Butcher, Hungry Jack’s, Intersport Mount Gambier, Lima and Co, Fi h and Madison, Periwinkles, Pick Avenue Bakery, Subway, Wendys, F45, Macro Maestra and Taylormade Hair & Beauty. Your support to our club is extremely valuable and appreciated. Junior 1: A much be er game girls. We used our space be er and looked for the longer pass. Daisee had a ripper of a game using her voice and moving well. Great defence won her the Hungry Jack’s award, now to concentrate on your passing. Kia also played a ripper game in C, driving into space and picking up loose balls winning the Wendy's award. Keep working hard at training and listen to the umpires. Junior 2: Well done girls. Everyone has improved so much in such a short period of me! The girls all tried their hardest and I'm proud of how well they are listening to instruc ons and implemen ng training prac ce into game day. Best players went to Maddie (Subway) who was at every contest, and helped bring the ball down court really well. Second best went to Molly (Bakers) who had hands to lots of balls and stuck to her player really well. Keep up the awesome work girls. 13 & Under: Good game girls, yet again you all played well and all contributed to the game. It was tough playing in the slippery condi ons but we accommodated for it. Brilliant versa lity from Mia (GK to WA), Bailee (C to GA) and Lily P (GS to C). Ivy and Isla made some great passes into the goal ring for our shooters Lily J and Kasey and our defenders Layla and Chelsea worked hard to create defensive pressure and create turnovers. We have some tough teams coming up and hopefully we can keep working hard and get some more wins under our belt. Good job girls! Best players: Ivy wilson- Donut King, Isla Fulham - Baker’s Delight. 15 & Under: Well girls what can I say? We had it but we just threw it away with our bad passing. Need to work on the ming of our leads which will put less pressure on the passer. Much be er chasing the loose balls and rebounding at both ends was good. Let's work hard at training this week so we can get back on the winners list. Best players: Boost Juice - Chloe Newton and Ali Stanley. 17 & Under: Leading up to playing Mount Burr we had figured out that it was going to be a very tough game. Unfortunately, late in the week we found out we were going to have another 2 players unavailable due to injury, which ended in us having 6 of our 10 player roster. This gave Under 15 player Sophie Lewis the opportunity to slot in which she did with dominance playing 1 quarter at WA, then domina ng in the C for the remainder of the game. Thank you, Sophie, for stepping up and helping us out last weekend, your talent is one to look out for in the future of our netball club. As a team we came together and did exactly what we needed to do. Own our posi ons. No ma er the ques onability we had about the game, we did not drop our heads at all which is a great quality to have in such a compe ve game. Bridie McPherson taking out best player last weekend, protec ng our post
and ge ng valuable turnovers when needed to help us keep our lead for the game. Bridie whilst only being limited to one third of the court your leadership felt like you were involved through the en re transi on. Grace Jacob our other best player of the game took every piece of advice given by Isabelle and myself, whether it meant she was physically not involved in the play, she did her part by elimina ng her player and managing to get mul ple touches throughout the game. In saying that, everyone had an outstanding game despite the loss of 4 players. Like I said on the day I could not fault anything by the end of the game. If there were li le altera ons to game play or defensive posi oning they were taken on board and done straight away. Keep going girls, keep working hard. Lara and Mackenzie you did so well combining in the circle, you stayed strong with the physicality of the defence and managed to come out on top. Imogen you dominated our WA posi on as per usual, Tamzyn your communica on and team work with Bridie (a new combina on) was awesome. Lastly, thank you to Ali and Bella from the Under 15's for si ng bench for me last week. Bridie McPherson (Fasta Pasta), Grace Jacob (Subway), Sophie Lewis (Intersport). B Reserve: Congratula ons on your 250 games Briodie Wilson. What a wonderful achievement. We are so very lucky to have you in our team with your experience and wisdom. For our game today. There will be obstacles. There will be mistakes made. But with hard work there are no limits to your greatness and a win will feel well deserved. We just have to keep going and be persistent. B Grade: Congratula ons Brooklyn on 50 games. May you keep enjoying playing ne y. The team started off really well. We let them back in but you kept in front. You all worked really hard in the last. Driving hard to move the ball into the goal circle, keeping possession for our centre pass and when you turned the ball over. Well done girls. Candice received the Fasta Pasta voucher and F45 gym award and Elivia received the Shipwreck Bistro voucher from Victoria Hotel. A Reserve: Great result with a fantas c win. Well done girls. We began the match slow but developed more consistency as the game went on. It's was great to see some personal growth with all individuals that hit the court, a credit to you all. Bee and Izy your work load in defence was second to none and you were supported well by Sarah - who played an impeccable game with you strong drives and plenty of touches. Isabella Lamb your cut back to the ball and consistently through the middle was pleasing to see, while both Cody and Montanna had strong leads and drives to the circles edge. Keyarnah you con nue to grow and your work ethic is shining throughout your games. Again beau ful cut back to the play and finished with some great shoo ng. All in all a pleasing and well deserved win. Best players: Sarah Lomas and Isabella Lamb. A Grade: Was a good game girls, considering it was the first me we hit the court as a playing group and with couple girls coming straight from playing another game. We worked hard all game, but few li le errors enabled Mt Burr to score and come away with the win. It was good to see we played bit more of four consistent quarters, which was great and helped us keep the score line close. We had some great defence pressure all over the court and some good a ack transi ons, we need to keep building and look at se ling a side. Best - Alana Winter (Fasta Pasta and F45) and Brooke Williams (Victoria Hotel).

Junior 2: The girls stepped on court with outstanding teamwork and showed some excellent partnerships throughout the court. I was proud to see the girls using techniques shown to them during training in their game. We all look forward to seeing the girls play again this Saturday and are excited to watch them con nue to bring training concepts into their games. Amazing effort girls! Junior 1: Girls had an amazing game! They all showed lots of dedica on and demonstrated what we had been improving on during our trainings! There are s ll a few things that need to be worked on, but we are improving every week during our games! Congratula ons to Eva Thiele, who got the SE Voice player of the week and to Hannah for ge ng best player on the day! Great job girls. 13 & Under: Bad luck girls. We need to play our game when we play these top teams. Our passing let us down, strong passing down the court we need to improve on, along with bring the ball down the court. We will keep working hard at training and all that hard work to game day on Saturdays. Thanks to Stacey for scoring, Zumrad for ming and Kelly for umpiring. 15 & Under: A slow start but came away with a win. Everyone is s ll adap ng to the new team this year but are showing a promising young side. We need to work on our transi oning down the court and talking it up. Overall it was a good game. Thank you Bec for umpiring and Paul and Pina for scoring and ming. Award went to Macy Burns - Sportspower. 17 & Under: We went into this game knowing that it was going to be tough and had clear goals we wanted to achieve. The first half we came out playing the type of netball we know we are capable of. We need to work on keeping our heads up in tough games and suppor ng one another out on court, as this will help us to string together 4 consistent quarters. Let's take this loss as a lesson and make sure we come out firing this game. Thank you Jo for scoring, Clare for ming, and Ebony for umpiring. The award went to Faith
McKenzie. B Reserve: Well done girls, great game. We are playing such a great team game, backing each other on and off the court. Our desire for ball was great to watch along with ball pressure all over the court to create many turnovers. Our goalies combined well with whatever combina on was in the circle. Great defence and strong rebounding making hard for Pt Mac to score. It’s great to watch what we prac ce at training work on game day, and everyone working together to make to it happen. We need to come out firing today against a strong Kalangadoo side. A huge thanks to our baby of the team Macy for filling in as team manager, we love having you hang with us. Award (Sassi) went to Hannah. Thanks to Sally for scoring, Jazmin for ming and Stacey for umpiring. B Grade: Bad luck girls! We fought well for the first 3 quarters but unfortunately let go in the last. We did what we could without our full team thanks to Covid. Everyone adapted well to posi ons and we have applied what we've been doing at training. Thanks to Heidi for umpiring, Hannah for scoring, Amy for ming and Bec for si ng bench. Since Fi y Six award went to Tess Doecke. A Reserve: Nearly back to our full team! What a cracking first half you all played, applying some very strong defensive pressure against an experienced team. A few posi onal changes threw a spanner in the works and didn't do us any favours. Zoe and Macca combing well in defence and improving together each week. Great to see Heidi finally being able to pull on the green and gold for the year and gave her all through the centre. Leila and Larissa finding there rhythm together a er a week off thanks to Covid! Thanks to my right-hand lady Raelene, making my life easier on a Saturday. Thank you to Carol for scoring and Amber for ming. Thanks Jas for si ng bench again. Award (Sassi) Leila. A Grade: It's wasn't the best day out for us, credit to Pt Mac who really made us work hard in all posi on and we had to work extra hard to get the win. Let's regroup and pull together 4 consistent quarters this week against Kalangadoo. Millicent Florist award to Zoe Brown. Thanks to Karen for scoring, Allan for ming and Tanya for being our primary carer.
Junior 2: Kdoo mini magpies have once again improved so much in such a short me and this week was no excep on. Elana and Adele having a great game in defence, and Tahlia also snagging a lot of intercepts in the last quarter. Gracie was again the focal point for the girls and although having a tumble s ll impacted the game with her skills. Grace and Heidi playing half each and GS and WD also impacted the game and showed massive improvement already! Ariella played amazing at WA and found a lot more space and a lot more passers with her best game yet also. Altogether I am so proud of these li le gems, keep going girls! You are going to be incredible each and every one of you. Best players as hard as it is to choose, where Adele and Elana who both played amazing defence. Junior 1: Our li lest magpies had a fun me with plenty of change ups and excellent passing. We are all working really hard to defend and get intercepts by watching the ball and play. Everyone had a chance to score some goals and I'm so proud of the inclusive nature of this team. Ma lda Peacock - Hungry Jacks, Ella Cooper - DK Coffee. 13 & Under: We knew this was going to be a tough one but managed to have our noses in front at half me. Unfortunately, many unforced errors took their toll and Pt McDonnell took the points. However, lots of posi ves from the game - we know what we must work on and feel confident we can turn the tables next round. Keirsten (Subway) played a great game as did Molly (Bakers Delight) and Ma lda (Fasta Pasta). Ava picked up coaches' award (Devine Gi s). Must also men on Zara's cameo performance in centre. 15 & Under: A er a slow start, we drew away with a good win. We showed strengths in all posi ons. We played well as a team. We con nued pressure down the court which caused turnovers and created a great win! Shayden - Wendy's, Georgia - DK Coffee, Ash - Subway. 17 & Under: A new line up but our 15s filled the gaps capably. We had some brilliant patches, where it was evident that we had taken in what was addressed at training. The play flows seamlessly when we are able to u lise front cuts and direct leads, where as we ran into trouble when this didn't happen resul ng in poor spacing and passes being picked off. Brilliant leadership and direc on of play was shown by Kori (Wendys) in goals, finished off with high accuracy. Ebony (Boost) was relentless, using her quick footwork to her advantage which slowed down the opposi on's flow in a ack.
B Reserve: Started well with Jodi (Fasta Pasta) on fire in the first quarter. Pt McDonnell quickly narrowed the gap and soon had us on the back foot. Many errors made by all (including the coach!) but these can easily be overcome with some serious work. Deb (Federal), Emma (RSL) and Gemma (Devine Gi s) other award winners. Angie also had a good, controlled game. Deb finished off the day having to take the court for most of the B Grade game - a two week break most welcome by her feet! B Grade: A er a very shaky start to the game with errors made all over the court we were able to se le into a nice game of netball. Some great turnovers from Emily Mulraney in GD and the shooters in Gina and Rhianna conver ng most turnovers. Steph being thrown into a new posi on made some great moves and on target passing. First game back for Imogene at centre and she controlled the game all over the court. An injury allowed Deb Mulligan to take the court at GK who combined well with Emily. Great pressure from WD Meg Malseed caused some headaches for the Pt Mac a ack line. A very impressive game to come away with the win. Best: Emily Mulraney (St Mary's), Imogene Krieger (Paradise Pizza), Steph Bingham (Subway). A Reserve: What a week! We had a very very raw team coming in with two juniors and two B Grade girls helping our team out in a massive way. We had a bit of a slow first half ge ng into the game and figuring out how to play on Pt Mac’s experienced players. The second half of the game however had us coming in to our own and with very few shots missed and every turnover opportunity taken we were able to slowly peg back at Pt Mac. Lucy and Estella were a surprisingly dynamic defensive duo and with Zoe and Jamie's experience through the middle with Ebony's pace and determina on. Tegan and Maddie were outstanding with shoo ng accuracy when the ball got in to the circle. Amazing effort by everyone and I'm so proud of how the en re club supported us to make the game come together. Lucy Williams Birdie Blue, Eb Wurst - Federal Hotel. A Grade: Great team effort girls to come away with a solid win, again with an unse led line up. It is a credit to you all your ability to 'roll' with the interrup ons and give your best individual efforts for the team each week. A huge thank you and well done to Jamie, Maddy and Georgia for solid performances and willingness to step into A Grade. Great effort. Maddy and Kori worked themselves into the game and posi oned well for easy feeds. Lauren, Georgia, and Jamie made a ackers work hard for every ball. Terry White - Kori, Boost - Lauren.

NETball club notes Junior 2: This round saw us at Hatherleigh, playing against the girls school friends which they thought was the best. We played 6 quarters so the girls could have more of a run and they were well and truly exhausted by the end. They tried their hardest as they always do and scored some good goals. Awards went to Shelbi and Lidia. They both con nue to create many turnovers each week and both give 100% for the en re game. Well done girls! Junior 1: J1s played a great game at Hatherleigh. We worked hard in all aspects of the court. Defensively the girls had a hard task but made many turnovers which resulted in strong passing in a ack and many goals scored. It was a fantas c team game. Well done to all. Awards: Pippa and Emie. 13 & Under: We didn't get off to the best start, with stepping causing us lots of unwanted turnovers in the first quarter, allowing Hatherleigh to get ahead quickly. Luckily the girls se led more in the 2nd quarter, with a focus on a more defensive style of play. This resulted in lots of intercepts and turnovers throughout the game but we just weren't able to move the ball easily down the court. Summah played well in WD in the final quarter, with Rachael in GK ge ng her hands to more rebounds. Awards went to Tamika (McDonalds) for some excellent leads and goals in the circle, and Alexis (Donut King) for a number of intercepts throughout the game. 15 & Under: We knew it was always going be a tough game against Hatherleigh. With a very unse led start to our season and the majority of us new to playing together, we are s ll working things out. The end score I believe did not reflect the game that we did play. We did struggle with our movement and passing and our goals did not want to go in. These are things that can be worked on and we are very capable of improving. However at mes there was some nice passages of play and good defence, if we are able to be a bit more consistence with this we will close the gap next round. A huge thank you to our 13's who have been si ng bench and helping out when we are short. Denton’s Sportspower award – Grace Altschwager, Donut King award – Kailah Gledhill. 17 & Under: A er a couple weeks off we had a good hit out last week against Hatherleigh in a game that was definitely ours to win. A great first half saw us set ourselves up for a great game but unfortunately we lost our cool a li le in the third quarter, but a draw is be er than a loss so don't dwell on it, do the work, train hard and come out figh ng to prove ourselves this week girls! Jami and I are proud of how you con nuously step up as a team and play as one. Keep that up and we're in for a fabulous season of netball. Charlo e played a strong game in GS and earned herself the KFC award. Ebony worked relessly through the centre,
NETball club notes showing off her ability to transi on from offence to defence effortlessly and earned herself the Denton Sportspower award. Let's go Tiges! B Reserve: We knew we were going to be up for a challenge last week, coming up against a tough (and tall) Hatherleigh side, and it certainly was. Unfortunately they were just too strong for us on the day. We definitely have a lot we need to work more on at trainings, but a credit to our girls for pu ng in 100% and adap ng to some new posi ons and let's not forget rain! It was only a ma er of me ll we had to learnt to play in the wet. Best players go to Tarrah who controlled the flow of play down the court and constantly an op on and Kim who didn't stop all game and played an absolute ripper. Let's come out stronger this week girls, go Tiges! B Grade: Another week of Covid interrup ons for our team saw Amy M and Charli filling in for us, thank you so much ladies! Thank you to the girls for dealing with all the posi onal changes so well. A flat first 3 quarters saw us down by 5 at the final break but we showed what we are made of to claw our way back for a draw, 41 all. I'm super proud of how everyone played! Best players were Amy (Lima & Co) for her second best on court of the day and Kirsty (Sassi) who played a great game a er a hec c morning A Reserve: It was nice to have two weeks off with Easter and the bye. It also made it a li le bit harder to get back into the swing of the game. We knew we were up against a strong compe ve team and we just didn't give it exactly 110% in each quarter. We need to work on a few basic skills and just remember not to doubt ourselves. Let's work hard this week at trainings and come out firing this week. Best: Dannielle Vanderheul (Lima and Co voucher) and Amy Mason (Tantanoola Ladies Commi ee voucher). A Grade: A couple of weeks off and we came out firing and were rewarded with a nice win. Defensively you all worked so hard, Kate and Tayla you played so well together and got so many balls. Kristy you are just a work horse and provide so much drive in our team. Madi played a ripper through the middle and you are star ng to really gel into all the combina ons. Casey you played a very mature game despite having to come off but Ebs slo ed in beau fully and it's so great to see our juniors get some court me. A really impressive win but I think we know what we need to work on and that we need to keep up the good work at trainings. Despite a lot of the girls having returned from Covid you all played so well. A special thank you to Michelle for staying around and helping us and to our Tant trainers for helping our girls when we needed it. We really do have a Red Army around us. Awards went to Tayla Rowe - Gino's and Em Gould - Fi h and Madison.
We have a few players who have recently played their 50 club games. Congratula ons to: Sam Brierley who played her 50th last week – Sam is a happy go lucky kind of lady and always gives 110% on the court, normally in a defensive posi on. She is an important part of the B Grade side this year and will always put her hand up to help out. She has taken on coaching this year, helping out with the 15&U girls and the juniors. Hayley Greenfield who plays her 50th this week – Hayley is another important player in our B Grade team and always has a smile on her face. You will always see Hayley providing great drives down the mid court and giving 110% to her team. Congrats on your wedding last week Halz! Lauren Kenny who plays her 50th this week – Lauren played some junior netball for Glencoe and has retuned in the last couple of years. While Lauren is pre y quiet she provides a great focal point in the goal circle as part of the B Reserve team this year. Lauren always helps out by filling in when needed and was in best players for both games she played last week. Congratula ons ladies! Junior 2: Well done girls and boy on an excellent game. A fantas c improvement on last game, great sign for the games to come. Metalworx Award went to Bailey and Lico Award went to Billy. Junior 1: Great game girls. We were leading down the court really well and coming front to receive our passes. We applied all the defensive skills that we learnt at training which was fantas c to see. Eddie Kuhl Tyre Awards went to Emma for moving really well in the circle and showing some great leadership skills. Second best went to Mikayla for some great intercepts and working really hard to s ck with her player. Everyone played a great game making best players a really tough pick this week. Top team effort. 13 & Under: 32-15. What an amazing game by everyone! Everyone had fantas c coming in front and leading towards the ball. The defence on the court was really good with an intercept by everyone and the hand pressure over the ball. Dycer Construc on Award went to Taya Bellinger for brilliant shoo ng and coming in front. Second went to Layla Hawke for a fantas c game in C running and keeping up with her girl. Third went to Macy Williamson for her defence pressure and s cking to her player. 15 & Under: 24-27. Another great game. There were many turnovers and pressure applied to all passes down the court. The score does not reflect the team effort and how well the girls played together. Defenders made Robe shooters work really hard for front posi on and with ght pressure there many held ball turnovers. Our shooters worked well in the circle, pu ng into play what was taught at training. Maloney Plumbing Award went to Shae as she worked hard all game picking up many loose balls and contes ng passes. Second best went to Sienna who had a tough game but regrouped many mes and walked off the court with a smile. Great game girls but not quite enough to take the win. 17 & Under: 24-46. Great effort girls! We really came out firing in the first half
and all 7 players worked hard and combined well as a team! Some great movement in the circle and some good ball movement in our a ack end. Down our defensive end we had some really well med intercepts from all defensive players. Unfortunately with some good defensive pressure from the opposi on in the second half we got a li le stuck and let them get on top of us. Lots of areas to work on at training but we all now what these things are. 3 things to focus on this week are – treasuring the ball when we get a turnover, strong leads towards the ball and believing in each other no ma er who is on the court! DeGaris Lawyers Award went to Chelse who took some beau ful intercepts and Zoe M who drove well, was always there for a second op on and ran hard all day! A big thanks to Sarah and Donna for coaching last week – it was amazing to see the girls had their first win. B Reserve: 54-27. Great game girls! We played a great consistent 4 quarter game. Everyone played well in their posi ons and supported each other well. The defence worked hard all day and got some great intercepts. Goalies combined well together and were supported well by the mid court. Lets keep up the great work. Key 2 Sale Award went to Mikayla for great driving down the court and second best to Lauren for good movement in the circle. B Grade: 39-30. Well done girls! Not the best of games but we s ll came away with the win. A huge thank you to Lauren, Sam, Mikayla and Alarna for filling and playing 2 games – we couldn't have done it without you. Lauren (Planta on Treated Timber Award) shot extremely well in very windy condi ons and was well supported by Leanne (second best). Hoping this week will see us with a full team. Go Murphies! A Reserve: 35-48. Great effort, it was a very tough game playing against some very experienced players. A big thank you again to Zoe, Amber, Kayla, Madeline and Kelly for playing excellent effort working it around and being pa ent with one another. Everyone worked consistently hard all game and you should be all so proud of your efforts. Jessie and Zoe worked the best I have seen all year and was pleasing to see you both driving hard all day and being strong for all passes. Sam you shut down your player on mul ple efforts. Thanks again girls really top effort on court and the score doesn't reflect how you all played. B&P Travel & Cruise Award went to Bec and second best to Jessie. A Grade: 50-52. A really high intensity game girls! Even though we didn't quite get the win we played a good consistent brand of netball. Jenna (O'Brien Electrical Award) and Malinda (The Commersh Award) played really well in goals, presen ng forwards all day, figh ng hard and shoo ng accurately. Sarah had another amazing game in defence, taking heaps of intercepts down court. Thanks to Laura and Bec for filling in for us – Laura did a great job on the wing and Bec, who came on in the first few minutes a er Chantelle suffered an injury, was super tough in defence and caused lots of turnovers. Chelsea again worked hard all day on the wing against some quality opposi on. We were unlucky girls but heaps of posi ves to come out of the game.
ROUND 4 A GRADE NETBALL REVIEW Mt Burr 44 def Port MacDonnell 37 The quarter started evenly with both sides scoring from their centre passes. Pressure passing from both sides causing many turnovers, with Mt Burr GS Ebony Clark and Pt Mac GS Toni Gilmore being the dominant goalies for their teams, with accurate shoo ng, with Pt Mac taking a 2 goal lead. Mt Burr 9 – Pt Mac 11 Both teams made no changes and came out strongly to start this quarter. Pt Mac pu ng pressure all over the court, especially with Pt Mac GD Alana Winter crea ng many turnovers early in the quarter. Mt Burr WA Meg Fennell and Mt Burr C Laura Schultz took some mely intercep ons and Mt Burr’s Clark con nued to dominated in the circle scoring all the opportuni es for her team, taking Mt Burr into a 1 goal lead at half me. Mt Burr 21 – Pt Mac 20 No changes for Mt Burr. Pt Mac made 1 change with Kristy Sneath coming off at WD, and Isabelle Sneath coming on off the bench. Both teams started evenly. Mt Burr con nued to put themselves under pressure with their passing. Pt Mac took a 5 goal lead midway through the quarter and consistently made Mt Burr work hard to score. Mt Burr defence in GD Madi Hagge and GK Olivia Dean were star ng to get on top of Pt Mac goalies and crea ng turnovers and strong rebounds and Mt Burr goalies Clark and GA Zoe Brown finding their range and combining well to take a 4 goal lead. Mt Burr 34 – Pt Mac 30 No changes for both teams and they started the quarter struggling to capitalise on their opportuni es. Mt Burr se led first with Schultz through the centre crea ng lots of ball crea ng many turnovers. Mt Burr defence stepped up making hard for Pt Mac’s goalies in Gilmore and GA Brooke Williams to score. Both teams se led and went for goal for goal late in the quarter, but by this me Mt Burr had set up a 6 goal win. Final score Mt Burr 44 to Pt Mac 39. Best players - Mt Burr: Laura Schultz and Madison Hagge ; Port MacDonnell: Alana Winter and Narelle Lewis.
Kongorong 44 def Nangwarry 37 With both sides going into this game winless, there was no doubt it was going to be a wellearned 2 points up for grabs. The young Hawks came out strong, the wind causing a tough task for both teams shooters, but the defensive pressure of Sarah Lucas, Riley Buckingham and Emily Lightbody created extra headaches for Nangwarry's a ack. Nangwarry stepped it up in the second quarter with Hayley Burner gaining some crucial intercepts, to help Cassie Dinnison and Ange Pra reduce the margin from 4 to 2 at half me. With the change of Rachel Perry and Kate Wright in the mid court, Kongorong's Tilah Buckingham and Evie Sealey had some great feeding into the circle and finished off well under the windy condi ons. Nangwarry's Hayley Vanderhorst, Shannon Higgins and Burner con nued with defensive pressure, Ebony Lawson and Kylie Heaver
moving well through the mid court. But it wasn't enough as the scoreline stretched back to 7, Buckingham in defence for the Hawks ge ng her hands all over the ball again and again. The young Hawks con nued this into the last quarter, finishing with as much intensity as they began, winning 44-37, their first win since 2019. Riley Buckingham was awarded the ANZAC Day medal for Most Valuable Player. Best players - Kongorong: Riley Buckingham and Sarah Lucas; Nangwarry: Hayley Burner and Shannon Higgins.
Hatherleigh 33 lost to Tantanoola 42 In a game that was deemed a must win for both sides, saw Tantanoola come out on top and take the points. Hatherleigh started with the first centre pass, but it was turned over and the Tigers were first on the board. Hatherleigh struggled to get into the game in the first quarter with Tant focusing mul ple errors all down the court which saw them jump quickly and convert. Hatherleigh's Erin Watson applied plenty of pressure to Tantanoola's Casey Walker which saw neither player giving an inch and contes ng everything. The visitors went to the first break with an 8-goal lead. Both sides remained unchanged going forward, Hatherleigh's defence worked over me to create opportuni es for their side, but they con nued to waste them with errors. Emma Gould was a standout in the Tigers' a ack, who combined well with Jami Walker. Hatherleigh upped the defensive pressure and made Tantanoola work hard for every ball, yet the Tigers stayed in control extending their lead, going into the main break 15-29. Half me break saw fresh legs come on for the home side, whilst Tant remained unchanged. Abby Wight combined with Maddie Redman in the goal circle, and they started to find some good space and added to the scoreboard. Demi Vanderhorst came into the game at GK and was matched well on Emma Gould. An ankle injury to Casey Walker saw her leave the court and be replaced by Kristy Varcoe, and youngster Ebony Cytrowski filled the WD posi on. This took the Tigers a bit of me to se le and adjust to the changes. Hatherleigh's Chelsea Galpin worked relessly to gain possession and help li her side in the third quarter, however, it was the visitors who took a 12-goal lead going into the last quarter. The home side came out firing in the last quarter, they displayed some great passages and transi ons of play down the court, but Tantanoola kept their composure and stayed in control. The Eagles stepped up the pressure again and started forcing errors in which they were able to convert, they were able to win the last term, but it simply wasn't enough to take the win. Final score Hatherleigh 33 Tantanoola 42. Best players - Hatherleigh: Demi Vanderhorst and Abby Wight; Tantanoola: Tayla Rowe and Emma Gould.
Glencoe 50 lost to Robe 52 The match of the round between Glencoe and Robe certainly lived up to expecta ons with a hard-fought, ghtly contested match going down to the final whistle. The first quarter was played at an extremely high-intensity and a frene c pace, with both teams crea ng strong a acking play throughout the quarter. Sarah Laurie was the focal point for Robe in their goal circle, crea ng lots of space and finishing strongly with 11 from 13 for the quarter. Down the other end, Glencoe's goal shooter, Malinda Markiewicz was also crea ng good space and ne ed 10 from 11 for her side. It was Glencoe who got the early break, turning over Robe's first centre pass through a strong Sarah Edwards intercept. Glencoe's Chantelle Cocks le the court only a few minutes in with injury and was replaced by A Reserve player Bec Edwards. Glencoe took a one-goal advantage into the first break, with scores 1615. Robe came out firing in the second quarter, bringing Alannah Jennings into the match at goal keeper, which assisted in curbing some of Markiewicz's influence, and with Lucy Perkins stepping up to obtain a number of touches at wing defence. Perkins and Annie Hunter increased their defensive pressure in the goal third, making it hard for Laura Edwards and Donna Jaeschke to find the circle edge and Tori Gluyas started to come into the game by u lising her trademark longrange shoo ng accuracy to score 11 from 12 for the quarter. Robe went into the long break with a four goal advantage. Robe made a number of changes at the long break with Perkins switching into wing a ack and Ellen Ramke re-entering the game at wing defence, however, it was Glencoe who came out strongly, scoring the first five goals of the quarter off the back of intercepts and strong rebounding from S. Edwards. Jaeschke was running strongly for her side, crea ng lots of play and Jenna Paproth was moving well in the goal circle using her front drives to advantage and shoo ng with accuracy. Perkins stepped it up early in the third and was the main play-maker for Robe, driving strongly to ensure that the score did not blow out and Ramke also gained a number of important touches. Scores were all ed up at 40 a-piece going into the final quarter. Halle Carter took the GA bib for Robe in the final quarter, allowing Gluyas to move to GS, while Laurie came to the bench. The Robe defenders were able to get their hands to a number of balls in and around the Glencoe goal circle sending the ball down to Gluyas, who made good space for herself in the circle to net 9 goals for the term at 100% accuracy. Perkins con nued to dominate the a acking end. Glencoe did not go away, turning the ball back on numerous occasions but the supply was near con nuous from the Robe defenders and they managed to hold on by two at the final whistle with scores at 52-50. Best players - Glencoe: Jenna Paproth and Malinda Markiewicz; Robe: Ellen Ramke and Alannah Jennings.
