UMPIRE APPRECIATION ROUND This week we turn our a en on to the unsung heroes of our game – the Umpires. Umpire Apprecia on round is an ini a ve of the AFL and SANFL aimed at encouraging all players, coaches, administrators and supporters of our game to appreciate the efforts of nearly 12,000 umpires na onally who officiate every weekend. Too o en the role of the umpire in our game is overlooked and taken for granted. All umpires who officiate do so with the best inten ons of implemen ng the 'Laws of the Game' to the best of their ability. This is a difficult task that is some mes viewed in a cri cal fashion. This weekend the MSEFL would like to show our apprecia on to all our umpires who take up the challenge of umpiring our game. The key messages we would like to promote as part of Umpire Apprecia on round are: 1. Playing, coaching and umpiring need to have a stronger rela onship – this refers to all of the key par cipants within our game showing a high level of respect for each other. As role models, coaches should always ensure they act appropriately towards umpires. 2. Umpiring is everyone's business – we all need to have a posi ve impact on the match day environment – this refers to players, coaches, parents, administrators, volunteers, supporters and everyone involved in our game having an impact on the match day environment. If there is abuse and in mida on towards umpires on match day then the environment can be considered poor, however if there is respect shown towards umpires and a level of tolerance then the match day environment will be posi ve. 3. New and inexperienced umpires are s ll learning the game – New Umpires to our panel are s ll learning how to umpire and should be encouraged and supported. No one gets be er si ng on the sidelines. To ensure all umpires are valued and treated with respect, not just today but for the remainder of the season we would encourage clubs to play your part by con nuing to encourage team coaches and captains to shake hands with the umpires prior to the coin toss, for all par cipa ng players to thank and acknowledge the umpires at the end of the game, just like you thank the opposi on and invite the umpires into the club a er the match. It is important that we all respect the role of the umpire, so this weekend, think twice about offering that gratuitous advice and instead pat the umpire on the back and say thank you!

a grade games

alex hentschke glencoe football club

Today Alex Hentschke plays his 100th A Grade game for the Glencoe Football Club. Alex, or as he is more commonly known, 'Sauce', began his playing days for Glencoe back in 2003 with the Junior Colts. He enjoyed premiership success in his junior career being a member of the 2005 Junior Colts and 2010 Senior Colts premiership teams. Alex con nued playing his junior footy with Glencoe through to 2011, where in that year he debuted for his first senior game with the club. Playing predominantly in the forward line, Sauce has made his mark as a big target up forward for not only the Murphies, but also represen ng the Mid South East at interleague level during the 2013, 2014 and 2019 seasons. He was a member of the 2019 A Grade grand final side and has demonstrated his strength and accuracy in front of the s cks to claim the leading goalkicker award for Glencoe in 2014 and again in 2021. Alex has recently ed the knot when he married the lovely Chloe so we wish them a happy life together. The Glencoe Football Club also wish Alex all the best today in his 100th A Grade game. All the best Sauce!

B Grade: It wouldn't be unfair to say it has been rough start to the year for Coach Donovan and his band of merry men in the B Grade, with another huge changeover of players during the week, giving us a list of players used only compara ve to the West Coast Eagles. It has been a credit to everyone that puts their hand up to play and keep making sure there is a team on the park every week. A silver lining to the changeover of players was that the 4 Richards (Adam, Shaun, Luke and Connor) brothers got to play their first senior game together. Conway Johnson also celebrated his 50th club game a er returning to the club a er a couple of seasons away. Unfortunately for the coach and his team it was another tough day at the office, with Nangwarry taking charge of the game in the first quarter and con nued to extend the lead at the end of every quarter to take out a very handy win. As always the effort was there and if we can keep everyone together and with a li le training the results will improve every week and we con nue to use Senior Colts every week which will only help in the future. Best for the week: Connor Twomey, Rory Na rass, Alex Lamb, Conway Johnson, Daniel Fisher.

is so important. The only certainty on Saturdays will be that Bob will be chasing every person in the ground to do the boundary or run the water. Surely there is someone out there that doesn't need to work or go to Aunty Flo's 93rd birthday and I need to go early, even though they are seen at 3 quarter me. We celebrated some milestones with Ryan Von Stanke playing his first game and we also celebrated 50 club games for Rhys Timms and 100 games for Tom Sullivan. The game was a tough hard-fought affair with our boys unable to pull away from Nangwarry with the gap all game not any more than a few goals, with the result only being safe when the final siren was blown. Best for the week was Kev Thomson, Tim Sullivan, Wade Chant, Kyall McClean and Alex Ridding. This week we are back at home for our first home game of the year, we also have our first func on of the year, Bogan Bingo, check it out on You Tube, let's grab your best moccasins and flannele e shirt head to the club for a great fun night. $30 per cket including a free drink on arrival. See Fraser for ckets. Will be a good night.

A Grade: A er a solid start to the year, the next challenge was a trip to take on the everimproving Nangwarry, the ever-changing landscape of 2022 every win is so important. With s ll a lot of unknown to come as we head into winter banking early wins

Senior Colts: Tough condi ons and a tough opposi on in Kongorong, and a typical winters day in Robe started off with us losing the toss and heading into what we thought was a 5 goal breeze. As expected Kongorong started well and kicked with it, to pile on 4 goals to 1, maybe not enough to put us out of the game. Next quarter we had 11 inside 50s to score 2.8. Robe couldn’t quite convert in front of goals but pinned it back enough to break the game even at half me. A er a half me rev up the boys came out firing with Ollie Hagge stepping up and taking the game on out of the middle. Captain Mason Keane, having a great year, also being our go to target around the ground. Max Robbo showing his class at CHF with his work rate at 100% is great to watch. Being 9 points up at 3 quarter me and having the wind may have let the guys start a-bit slow, allowing Kongorong to take the lead with 5 minutes to go. Credit to the Robe lads for grinding it out and kicking a few quick goals to steady us to a 31 point victory. Best players were Ollie Hagge , Mason Keane, Max Robertson, Hudson Peel and Flynn Peel. Steve’s Place player incen ve went to Kaiden Carter and Denton’s Sportspower Millicent player incen ve to Mason McKenny. Reserves: We played Kongorong at home, we had quite a few out but we ba led hard and came away with the win by 4pts. There were some good passages of play on the day, and lots of posi ves. In the best were Harry Hooper, Ma Jennings, Oli Hagge , Simon Ferguson. This week we take on Port Mac away. Come along to training this week to capitalise on skills for match day. See you then. A Grade: Last week, we took on Kongorong back on our home turf. The weather looked ominous and like it could pour down at any second. Lucky for both teams the rain held off and provided a beau ful day for football. There

was a clear breeze to the church end, which would play a significant role in the game. From the first bounce we had the wind and took full advantage, piling on 7 goals to Kongorong's 1. Jed Jarre taking the lead in the forward line kicking 4 goals to his name. The midfield brigade of Woody, Clemmo and Jordy from Robe marched the ball out of the centre with ease. Samuel Clements again using the ball well and racking up mul ple possessions for the quarter. Kongorong came out in the second with the wind and some newfound enthusiasm. They caught us offside and won the ball out of the midfield and kicked 2 goals for the quarter to Robe's 1. Harry Evans was everywhere for Kongorong and helped drive the ball forward. Robe went into the half me break with a 32-point lead and by no means out of reach for Kongorong. In the 3rd quarter the game would be won or lost for either side. Again, Robe had the wind and would pounce on the opportunity to kick some goals. Corben O'Dea ran well off half back for Kongorong and stopped many goal scoring opportuni es. But Robe were relentless in their forward a ack, kicking 4 goals with Lachlan Hentsche ge ng his kicking boots on and kicking 5 goals in the second half. In the last quarter, Kongorong again had the wind and were tough around the contest with plenty of bigger bodies and tackling pressure. They con nued to ba le right to the final siren and scored 3 goals for the quarter. Robe con nued to use the football well by hand and foot, running in waves. We also kicked 3 goals of their own. At the final siren, we came away with a 46-point victory. This week we take on Port MacDonnell and hope to con nue our 2-game winning streak. We will have to wait and see if their oval is in adequate playing condi on for this week. See you there Rooster fans.

Well it is official, the Nangwarry Football Club is officially open. There is a lot of people who need to be thanked, however it would take a few pages in the budget to cover them all. So please accept this as an official thank you no ma er how small or big you contributed. Not the best day for the Saints against Port Mac with only one win recorded. The B Grade side is on the up and up and the boys are very excited about it. It has been a few years since Nangwarry had players who are missing out on a game and this is a good place to be. We should also take a moment to acknowledge the current A Grade side who for the first me in a very long me hit the front in the last quarter of the game. I think the Port Mac supporters may have been a li le worried cause the Saints supporters stood up and got loud. Luke you should be proud of the direc on you and the boys are heading and I am sure we will be rewarded soon. A very big thanks to those who put the word out looking for junior and senior colts players. We were fortunate to pick up 4 new senior colts players last week. Congratula ons to the “Wombats” aka Carly and Donny on best dressed from the NNFC Table Tennis Tournament. Well done to the “Re rement Village” Dion and Vesa who beat the favourites Special J's Joel and Jarrad. It was a good turnout on Saturday night. Next home game is music with the theme S.A.I.N.T. so pick a le er and come dressed with something star ng with that le er. Also coming up in a few weeks is the Nanga's Gold Cup. This will be adver sed soon. This week's sponsors are McDonalds and Pra Welding and Fabrica on. Pra Welding and Fabrica on deliver high quality products with a focus on aluminium. Their trays and canopies are fully welded construc ons and built tough to last. For more informa on and further build details get in touch with Angie and Joe. Whether it is a coffee, breakfast, snack, lunch, dinner or dessert be sure to call in to McDonalds Mount Gambier. Under 11: Our under 11s were impressive again last week. A li le drizzly in the morning but our boys were marking like it was a dry day, our ground ball gets were outstanding and overall just a good hit out - well done. Junior Colts: A disappoin ng result for our young Saints against Port Mac. We

came up against a much improved and much bigger side and we simply couldn't keep with them. Some undisciplined acts in the 2nd quarter led to us playing a player down for the rest of the game. Our side must remember not to let our frustra ons take over and the umpires call is final. Our young side didn't give up throughout the whole game con nuing to tackle and put pressure on Pt Mac over the ground. Thanks Smithy for the lend of 4 players throughout the game. Best players for Nangwarry were Tayte, Calais, Wya , Jordan E, Josh and Blake. Encouragement award went to Jack Barry. We need to regroup quickly as another big game awaits against K'doo. Senior Colts: We welcomed back a couple of guys to the club in Peter and Brandon and also welcome a couple of new players in Justyn and Jacob, we hope you enjoy your me with the club. Although the game wasn't great score wise, some of our ball movement coming out of the backline was first class and showed some of our skills are quite good. We now have to do some training together to be able to work for longer periods as a team and to be able to get into a posi on to win a game or two. Keep your heads up guys and I'll see you on the training track. Best players: Benne Moy, Ty Dinnison, Archer Virtanen, Wya Balshaw, Hayden Stewart and Brandon Bu on- Sanders. B Grade: What a fantas c win over Port Mac, must be the first win over them in 7 years. Big Chappo played the game of his life in the ruck. Sam Shaw made a comeback and what a game he played. The forward line had 34 scoring shots to come up with 14 goals. May be me for a bit of goal kicking prac ce lol. Over all a very sa sfying day. Best: Chappo, Sam Shaw, Craig Hicks, Josh Clayfield, Hoody, Jezza, Jordan, Marcus. Goals: C. Hicks 7.7, Jordan 4.4, S. Shaw 2.0, C. Bonney 1.0. A Grade: It was a big day for the club with the official opening of the club and the Reserves boys got the day started the right way with a big win. Our boys started slowly but kicked a couple to finish off the first quarter strong, we kept with the Bay Boys all game while managing to hit the lead with 10 minutes to go. Unfortunately their experience and composure got them over the line but for us that's another game where we take a lot from it, we keep improving and ge ng results. Cheers LT

Always a great weekend had in Robe, and we've missed it the past few years. A touch of retail therapy and some great coffee during the day, and enjoying the hospitality venues at night, and of course the football and netball! Under 11: We travelled to Robe for an even and well contested game of football. Our kicking and marking con nues to improve each week. Keep up the good work on the field. Encouragement awards went to: Intersport - Nathaniel Elletson, President's Award - Jimmy Whi y, Angelino Family - Connor Gordon, Coaches Award - Sam McInnes, Club Award - Brody Stevens and Donut King Havvi Beard. Junior Colts: As we headed down to Robe, in what is always a tough journey in footy, we were finally almost at full strength for the 1st me this season. We had several players that had yet to play a game together this year, but you would have never known that a er the 1st bounce. We shot out of the blocks early and in blustery condi ons managed to get scoring going. With accurate kicking in front of the big s cks all day, we came away with a good win. What was pleasing to see was the team play and looking to involve everyone in the game and the link up and passages of play around the ground. Last quarter was spent discussing best players as again an even team performance. Best on ground and the Rarcoola Structural Award went to Luke Allen who held down CHF and provided opportuni es to others around him. Deccy Richardson second best and the Rocks Shop Award, played a few different roles and was never far away from the play. Rhys Newton 3rd best and Spot-On Fishing Award, our Captain is really growing into the role, and finding plenty of the footy wherever he plays. Mick Mullan Award went to Jobe Janeway, his first game back for a while, and he was straight into a tough ruck ba le, working into the game and proving midfielders plenty of first opportuni es. Would have been good to have 15 coaches awards last week but it went to Harrison Elletson who is turning out to be a very handy midfielder/forward for us and finishing off in front of goal nicely. Nate Vs-D played a tough game and provided room for his teammates around him with his head over the ball approach received the Janeway Plumbing Award. A few things to work on during the week as we welcome Tant on our home deck. Go Hawks. Senior Colts: We headed down the

coast to meet a strong team in Robe this weekend. Knowing we were going to have a strong contest with Robe, being one of the stronger sides this year, we needed to bring our A game. Well it was a disappoin ng day to be a Hawk to say the least. Going away from our structures, and the run and carry we like to use up and down the ground, allowed Robe take full advantage of a strong scoring end with the breeze, and to get on top when it counted the most. With the last half more pleasing to watch, the leaders stepping up, we just weren't quite able to get across the line. With the loss I think it has definitely been a straighten up for the boys, and brought them back to having level heads. We will now reset on the track this week and hopefully get back to what we do best coming into this weekend's game. I'd also like to congratulate Mackye Baron on being selected to play at Glenelg last weekend! Great achievement! Un l next week, go Hawks! Reserves: Tough to lose a game a er leading for 90% of it, but Robe just kept coming and played a smarter brand of footy when it counted. Hopefully the game will be a learning experience that helps us understand the importance of ball use and voice. Harry Maddern worked hard all day and won the Commercial Hotel Award. Trent McNamara was a rock down back for the Collins Court Butcher Award. Andrew Juddford con nued his recent form to take the Club Tea Award, and Shaun 'he has arisen' Beard resurrected himself in a new role, and gave us great drive all day to win the Club Tea Award. Welcome to the club Lachie Pulford too who played his first game. Seniors: A slow start to the game which ended up being the end result. We fought back in the second half which was pleasing, however a solid four quarter effort, from the first bounce, is required if we are to get some more wins on the board. Aaron 'Kouta' Lightbody con nually rebounded the ball out of defence all day, giving us plenty of run out of the backline, to get the Commercial Hotel Award. Corben O'Dea took home the Collins Court Butcher Award, with Brayden 'Nugget' Leicester efforts across the middle being rewarded with the Club Tea Award. Tyson Modra con nued his good form, Club Tea Award and rounding out the best players Harry Evans, who got the Pick Ave Deli & Bakery Voucher, and Brad Long. Social - Lock in Coola Cup for the 30th July, ckets will go on sale soon, best night of the year!

Congratula ons to our players who have been selected in the Interleague squads to play on the June long weekend. Our footballers will be taking on Western Border and KNT at Kongorong while our netballers will be mixing it with the best in the state in Adelaide. Best of luck to those trialing. Miss Tiger is happening next weekend and is set to be a cracker! Have you been able to guess who our stars are yet? Tickets are $10 and can be purchased from Emma Gould or Jami Walker, families are welcome with Under 12's free. See posters around the club or our Facebook page for more informa on. Thank you to our valued sponsors who have signed up for this season so far. If you would like to sponsor or know someone who would like to please see Julie-anne Cytrowski or Janice Kelly to view our packages, there is something for everyone. Under 11: It was a cold and wet morning for the U11 who copped the biggest shower of the day. Even though the kids couldn't feel their hands they s ll bored in with great a ack for the ball. I am loving the development of all the kids this year. The team work is star ng to come where they are looking to give the ball to each other in be er spots rather than just kicking down the ground. We also had a couple play their first games for Tant - Oliver Warren and Beau Brown. Awards went to Oliver, Billy, Caleb, Asher and Zac. Junior Colts: G'day all, we came up against a strong Glencoe side with a lot of top age players. Cheers to Pricey for lending us a couple of players. Credit to our boys and girls who ba led hard all day! Best players were Ethan, Kaden, Jayden, Jed and Charlie. S ck together and a win is just around the corner. Senior Colts: G'day folks, what a wonderful day for footy and the boys did it jus ce by ba ling their guts out from start to finish. Very proud of all the young fellas, we stuck to our guns and tried to play the game on our terms. It was

always going to be a ba le with Captain Cushion and VC Baker carrying the water bo les in injury mode and Snelly Kelly on vaca on in the big smoke. This provided opportunity for some others to step up and stamp their name on the game and that they did. Everyone played well with the best of our young warriors being Brayden Rowe, Sambo Simmons, Brayden Hateley, Ryan Simmons and Jack Cytrowski. Well fought lads, keep ya heads up and soldier on. I really want to thank Jed Telfer and the Hatherleigh lads for helping out and offering your help with several lads. Thanks very much, and special men on must go to the League Execu ve for your support in helping to bolster the future of your league. Well done. Reserves: Round 5 was against Glencoe at home. Scores were ght throughout the whole game but went down in the last quarter. Plenty of moments where the win was possible, just s ll needing to piece them all together for a whole game. Best on ground went to Chris McCallum for his fantas c work on the ball and in defence, other best were Jack Patzel, Aaron Trowbridge, Jake Bromley and Blake Bowman. A Grade: G'day everyone. Last week we hosted Glencoe for the Neil Von Duve Memorial Cup. With a strong wind throughout the day it was clear there was only 1 scoring end and each team had to make the most of the quarter down that end. Both teams definitely countered with the wind but at days end the Tiges held on with a 3 goal lead to bring home the cup for the first me in 5 or so years. Plenty of work to do for our lads but a good win is a win. Bests in no order were Jordan Ha , Braydn Reilly, Roy Osborne, Jack Dawe, Jack Cytrowski and Marc Roberts. www.tantanoolafootballclub. spor ngpulse.net Find us on Facebook: Tantanoola Football and Netball Club

Last week we ventured to Tantanoola in what turned out to be a cold day, as winter starts to set in on us. We came away with 3 out 4 wins from the football and a very successful day on the netball court as well. A er the game we held our first Rump and Red night. Thanks to all who helped set it up, especially Sarah and Donna. The night was a great success, and everyone seemed to enjoy something different in town. A er making his A Grade debut during the day, Harry Comley seemed to put on an A Grade performance during the night. Ted has also now made Cement Mixer shots a compulsory drink for a er game refreshments for the commi ee. The Junior Colts con nued their winning way as they currently sit on top of the ladder undefeated. They beat the current bo om side on the weekend by 76 points. They have great talent across the whole field but will face some real tests over the next few weeks when we face Hatherleigh and Kongorong. Hopefully Adam has them primed and raring to go for these 2 encounters and we can con nue our great form and look to head into the mid-season break with a top 2 spot. Best players from the weekend were Daniel Ferguson, with 5 goals, Thomas Richards, Leslie Jagger, Hamish Gordon and Declan Mutch. The Senior Colts were without their fill ins from the week prior but were s ll able to con nue their much-improved skills and game plan. Coach Pie was fresh off delivering a baby Friday (congratula ons to Pie and Caitlin on the arrival of baby boy Charlie, we wish you guys all the best in parenthood). Pie would have been happy with seeing the boys play some faster footy and kicking a bigger score last weekend. The Tant boys are struggling with numbers a bit as well this year, so it is a bit disappoin ng to see so many teams struggling to fill an U17's team. This is the 4th team I've seen this year where the side has only had around 10 players and relied on junior colts to play 2 games. This is the real issue the leagues need to solve to ensure the future of football in the South East, especially Mid SE. Anyway, we ended up running out 22-point winners, a er a bad last quarter. Best players were Ben Weedon, Patrick Langsmith, Brodie Pfitzner, Cam Brooks, Daniel Ferguson and Kaleb Price. The Reserves were again short on Thursday night, but this me it was mainly due to so many outs from the A Grade. Nathan managed to get a couple of players back and it obviously paid dividends as we were able to come

away with a 38-point win. A er a very slow start kicking into the wind and allowing the first 2 goals, we then went on to kick 12 goals to 4 the rest of the game. Credit to Tant for figh ng the game out, as they haven't won a game yet and put up a good fight. We s ll have a bit to improve on, and hopefully a fair few players to return. With a more prominent forward line we finally managed to score as we got the ball in there more o en. Best players were Trent Hawke, Tory Weaver, Jayson Finnis, Timmy Mutch and Shannon Megaw. I heard David King on radio during the week say, “It's not who play, but when you play them”. I feel this is very relevant in the AFL with West Coast at the minute for example. It can also relate to country footy even more. But we all know that teams with the best squad and the most depth make finals. When good players are out, the next in line needs to step up and play their role, prove they are worth their spot in the team and do their job. This is representa ve of our team at the minute, although we had a lot of players out over the past few weeks, we need to see blokes step up and play their role. We had a lot of players missing with Covid last weekend but watching the game you would think it was the Tant blokes who were playing with Covid as we avoided tackling them at all costs. Tant had 5 goals at quarter me, and we only had 5 goals by 3 quarter me. Thankfully we showed some fight in the last term to kick 5 straight goals and get within 12 points with 1 minute to play, but it was too li le too late. We played with poor work rate and poor decision making that didn't help our teammates. Hopefully we see a big improvement this weekend. Best players were Tom Edwards, Dylan Childs, Jake Blackwell, Andy Gray, Declan Hurley and Ben Swan. Congratula ons to Alex 'Sauce' Hentschke who today plays his 100th A Grade game for the club. Alex has celebrated premiership success in both junior and senior colts for us, and has been a strong forward presence for our senior team over many years. Today we welcome Hatherleigh in what will find out to be 4 very tough games. We then have a bye next weekend which will see us have our '50 Club' event. Please see Zacc Cocks for your ckets as it's a great day and plenty of money to be won. Go Glencoe!

A Grade: We hosted Tant last week with tricky condi ons and an up an about opposi on we were under the pump early. Tant’s pressure was really good resul ng in us making some poor skill errors we held a slim lead at quarter me. The second quarter we managed to get on top and score 5 goals stretching the lead at half me. In the 3rd quarter Tant keep applying the pressure and with some skill errors and some wayward kicking in front of goal we couldn't score as fluently as we would've liked. The last quarter it opened up for us and we started hi ng our targets and playing our brand of football which resulted in us kicking 7 goals in the last and running away with a big win. Up forward Jake Dowdy led the goal kickers with 7 goals while Darcy Bateman again had a big game on the half forward line winning every contest he was involved in. Mark Marriot again had a big day compe ng against a quality ruckman but also following up his great ruck work with second efforts and a heap of tackles. Jordy Galpin found plenty of the ball in the middle while Lewis Walker owned the wing with his pace and good ball skills. We look forward to the bye and then we take on Glencoe the following week. B Grade: Big congratula ons to our skipper on 250 games in the Eagles colours, plenty of success and individual accolades along the journey, good to even see you handball 3 or 4 mes satdy Muff. The boys started off slowly before really stamping there authority on the game and playing some good football to take out a solid 100 point win. Rural Bell bagging 9 goals and earning BOG, second best was big Reggie in the ruck giving his all as always. Big tree trunks Leopold played a good game across half back to take out 3rd. Li le Bowie took out 4th

playing another decent in and under game in the pivot along with Dylan Vanderhorst who got 5th. Couple of men ons to Muff who bagged 5 in his big game, and the couple of colts who got called up a er a few late outs. Go Eags! Senior Colts: The boys had a solid hit out against an undermanned Tantanoola side, in which it was pleasing to see some of our players pull on a red guernsey to make it a compe ve match. A er a disappoin ng loss last week, the group played a much be er team brand of football that seen them share the footy, ge ng each other into the game. Je Faulkner starred with ball in hand, se ng up the play off of the half back line. Blake Werchon was again solid all over the ground, finding me with the ball in all contests. Harvey Jones was dominant up forward and in the midfield, adding more goals to his tally. While Will Watson, Charlie Sims and Eli Kneen had great games in defence. We enter the bye 3 and 1 and look forward to the back half of the first round of games. Junior Colts: Back on the winners list last week a er a tough loss against Robe the week before. We focused on star ng the game well against Tant a er a slow start against Robe, the team took the feedback on board and started the game really well kicking 3.5 in the first quarter. The team played really well across all 4 quarters finishing the game with 14 goals 20 points, maybe some goal kicking prac ce this week at training ha. Ethan Marshall returned a er missing the last game and con nued is excellent form, Huddy Nowak was solid across the backline. Eli Sims and Coop Walters had their best for the year both ge ng amongst the goals. Harry Baker also had a stand out game sweeping off the half back.

ROUND 6 A GRADE NETBALL PREVIEW PORT MACDONNELL vs ROBE Port MacDonnell are set to host Robe for their first home game of the season. Both teams came away with good wins last week and will come out firing on Saturday. The combina on of Alana Winter and Belinda O'Dine in the defensive circle will put the pressure on for Robe's goalies, Tori Gluyas and Sarah Laurie. However, both Gluyas and Laurie's accuracy will be a focal point for the Roosters, with precise feeding outside the circle from Annie Hunter. Toni Gilmore's presence in the goal circle, as well as her experience and leadership on court will be an asset to the Bay, however Robe are si ng at the top of the ladder and will not want to give up that spot. KALANGADOO vs NANGWARRY Kalangadoo would have been happy with last week's win against the Burr. Abbey Duncan's return has given some experience to the Pies goal circle, and she combines well with youngster Kori Collins. Jayde Peacock con nues to work hard

for her side and Hayley Burner will get the job of trying to curb her influence, while working hard to help her side at both ends of the court. Reanna Wetherall and Lauren Kain in defence will be looking to shut down the high work rate of Ange Pra and Tahlia Wilson for Nangwarry in their a acking end, but Kalangadoo will come away with the win. KONGORONG vs TANTANOOLA Tantanoola are coming off a loss against Glencoe and will be looking to bounce back against Kongorong this week. Michelle Robinson had to step up into the WA posi on to fill Casey Walker's shoes last week and that may very well be the case again in round six. Riley Buckingham started in defence last week for the Hawks and then was swung into the circle. Sarah Lucas and Emily Lightbody combined well last week and may very well be given the job on Jami Walker and Emma Gould if Buckingham is needed in the a acking end again. Kongorong are definitely on the improve but Tantanoola will want to stay in

touch with the four and will come away with the points. GLENCOE vs HATHERLEIGH Hatherleigh are coming off fresh from the bye and come up against a strong Glencoe ou it. Sarah Edwards and youngster Chelsea Owen are working well together in defence and will ensure that which ever goalie combina on Hatherleigh decide on works hard for every shot. Both Demi Vanderhorst and Maddie Redman can switch from goals to defence and their strength may be required to limit the opportuni es to Jenna Paproth and Malinda Markiewicz. The tussle between Donna Jaeschke and Tegan Telfer in centre will be one to watch. Hatherleigh are s ll se ling their side, and this has caused disrup on to their season so far and they will be aiming to bounce back a er losing their last two games. However, Glencoe will be looking for cement their spot in second and will get the win.

FOR ALL YOUR BBQ & PARTY MEAT!

glencoe netball club The Glencoe Netball Club congratulates Angela Tweddle on an amazing achievement - playing 300 club games. As many people know Ang is a born and bred Glencoe girl and has been playing at the club since star ng juniors many moons ago. She moved away for a couple of years for study and had me off again later whilst having children. Angela has achieved many accolades in her netball career including League Best & Fairest (2013) and Runner Up Best & Fairest (2015), both in B Reserve. She has also received Club Best & Fairest (2013), Runner Up Best & Fairest (2018) and Best in Finals (2016) again in B Reserve. She also received the Muzzy Schultz Award (shared in 2019) for the Most Senior League Votes. She has been a part of the B Reserve premiership sides in 2018 and 2019 and is known for her solid mid court game (and occasional long bombs into the goal circle). Ang has been heavily involved within the Glencoe Netball Club as a volunteer for a long me and has carried out many roles including coaching, commi ee member, umpiring (mainly A Grade for the last couple of years), sponsor and Club President for the last few years – many of these jobs at the same me. Angela was recognised for her dedica on in 2014 when she received the Glencoe Netball Club Person of the Year. The amount of me and effort Ang has given the club over the years is phenomenal and we would be lost without her. The Glencoe Netball Club congratulates Ange on this milestone and thanks her for her me and dedica on to the club over many years.

In conjunc on with

port macdonnell NETball club notes Junior 2: All the girls played a great game last week and are con nuing to improve each week. Although it did look a li le scrappy at mes, they managed to score a few goals. All of the girls are star ng to come out of their shells and are really showing they can step up. Zariah (Hungry Jacks) really demonstrated leadership and got her hands to a lot of the ball. Des ny (Wendy's) she actually got in and had a go - keep it up! Junior 1: What a great defensive game girls. So many intercepts and touches, it was great to see everyone chasing those loose balls. We s ll need to work on our dodging and ming but our game is coming together nicely. It was good to see Kia and Peyton using a bounce pass in the circle. Keep up the hard work. Hungry Jacks award went to Lucy for awesome defensive work, drive and never give up a tude and Wendy's award went to Torah for a brilliant game in WA, crea ng space and passing well into the circle. 13 & Under: Very good game girls in the wet condi ons, we changed our play style to suit the condi ons; something we are doing very well. Some people played in posi ons they hadn't played before but they gave it their all and smashed it! We really are coming together as a team but there are s ll things to improve on. Best players : Lily Jacob - Fasta Pasta, Layla McPherson- Intersport. 15 & Under: A great first 3 quarters of netball, disappoin ng last quarter. We need to remember to stop repea ng the same plays or passes if they aren't working. We need to come front and posi on ourselves ready for rebounds at both ends of the court. Fasta Pasta best players - Jas who worked relessly in defence and Lillie for running the whole game out and trying to land on that circle. 17 & Under: Congratula ons girls on the massive win! It was great to see that we could work on the li le things and eliminate the simple errors. Everyone played a great game and was able to implement things that we have been working on at training into the game, making the transi on down the court smooth. Congratula ons to Lara, Ariella and Kate for playing their first senior game on Saturday! Best players: Imogen Jacob - Fasta Pasta, Mackenzie Millard - The Bay Pizzaria. B Reserve: It was pleasing to see you all push and challenge yourselves to work hard through the whole match. Well done everyone, it was a well-deserved win. Let's keep going and build onto our strengths to achieve the ul mate goal. Awards: Fiona Sco Shipwreck Bistro Victoria Hotel, Ainsley - Grantville Court Butchers. Lovely job ladies.

robe NETball club notes

B Grade: A slow start to our game. Skill errors of our hands hindered our goal scoring ability. The defence kept us in front with their ability to turnover ball. It took a while to adjust and se le in. Once we found our ming and ball delivery was pin point, we were rewarded. Trus ng each other and doing the prepara on before receiving the ball, opened up the court in the third quarter. Defensive efforts from around the top of the circle created turnovers. Treasuring turned over ball and maintaining possession is cri cal for our desired results. This was evident in the four quarters. Movement through the court was med beau fully, that resulted in some spectacular court play. Fresh legs enable us the capitalise on our hard work. Awards: Georgia Seidel Shipwreck Bistro Victorian Hotel Port MacDonnell, Candice Merre Grantville Court Butchers. A Reserve: Another win on the board girls - well done. A real credit to you all a er an extensive change to the line up to our team. It took a li le me to adjust and kick into gear but you all dug deep and shown that you can maintain the lead. Keyarnah and Cody showed they had a real connec on in the goal circle, while Montanna stepped it up a notch and made strong mely leads to the circle. Another consistent game from Isabella running hard all day and Kristy your hand pressure over the ball was fantas c. Izy, it was really lovely to see you step up and take on a real leadership role in the defensive end, you gelled well with the new inclusions of our upcoming junior stars - Kate and Arriella, who stepped up and played their first senior game. Congratula ons girls. S ll plenty to work on but we con nue to make those small improvements given our challenges. Keep con nuing to learn and grow girls and it eventually all come together. Looking forward to having Sarah back a er a week off res ng her shoulder. Best players: Montanna Millard and Isabelle Sneath. A Grade: Another new line up, but it seen us adapt and play consistent quarters and keep building on our transi ons. Our defence pressure all over court was great to see which allowed us to get turnovers and score on the opportuni es. We welcomed back Jess, who played an awesome game, was slo ed back into the team, like she never le . Two juniors Arriella Smith and Lara Wilson, got the opportunity to step onto the A Grade court for the first me, they both did an awesome job and should be very proud of their efforts and I can't wait to see what the future holds for these girls. Best players: Brooke Williams (Victoria Hotel) and Belinda O'Dine (Grantville Court).

Junior 2: It was a chilly start Saturday morning. The girls got out and went hard for the ball. Fantas c movement of the ball down the court. The girl's improvement is seen every week and they really are working well together and star ng to really understand the game and posi ons as a whole. So proud of all their efforts each week. Award (Sails at Robe) went to Mali Brooks for her fantas c game in defence, although shorter than her opponent she worked hard for rebounds and intercepts by really listening to what she was being asked to do. Well done Mali and high five to all the girls for last week. Junior 1: Was great to be back with my team last week! A er many cold complaints and a lot of “do we have to play today” Kongorong was ready to go! We started off a li le slow this round, and a er a few turnovers at centre passes, the girls stared to show off their newfound defence skills and snagging some great turnovers at the goal ends. Siarrah in GK grabbed every rebound and helped level the playing field all match, a welldeserved winner of the incen ve. Some fantas c leads and in the mid court brought the ball to our end with ease, with our shooters giving their all in a hard fight against K'rong’s height! As the girls skills slowly start coming together and they really start to remember all the rules, a few game plays and leading tools are really going to step us up as a solid junior side. 13 & Under: Robe 45 Kongorong 23. Best player (Saubrious Hour) – Lacey Brooks, Incen ve (Robe Seafood & Takeaway) – Millie Fennell. 15 & Under: Robe 40 Kongorong 14. What a great li le team we have. No ma er where I put you everyone gives 100%. It's lovely to see you all smile and enjoy your netball. Goalies all played well, moving around the ring more, just need to have confidence to put those shots up and not pass out. Mid court all played so well, crea ng so much drive and space around the court. Passing has improved so much when passing into our goalies. Defenders worked hard all game, crea ng turnovers where possible and driving them down court. Everyone played well and the awards could have gone to anyone. Best player (Union Café) went to Lucy Collins for an amazing game as GS, confident and strong! Incen ve (Robe Seafood & Takeaway) went to Tilly Yeo for her great driving down court. 17 & Under: Robe 43 Kongorong 19. Consistent team effort by all! Took us a moment to se le and play 'our game' in the first but a er that we took ownership of the ball and came away with a solid win. We've just got to remember to man up before we lead, we allow the defence the upper hand meaning we must work harder to get that pole posi on. Maisie played a solid consistent game earning herself the well-deserved best player (Loaves & Fishes) for the day. Mase, your commitment to your team and direc on down the court is second to none, your game is o en overlooked as you're doing your job but we want you to know we see you! Defence worked endlessly and adjusted their game to the a ackers each quarter earning many intercepts! Amalie took in all training advice and talk from the bench to take away incen ve (Me & Miss Jones). Took a moment but you finally got the hold on the ring - let's keep this up for future games! Goalies movement was be er by the second half, having one driving forward and one on the base. This ability to work well in the ring will be vital for those tough games coming our way. Hayley, the poor love played a blinder in C and kept to her game even when her opposi on players

dropped to an unacceptable standard. Very proud of you and hold your head high! Super consistent game by all, let's keep our “woo's” up next week when we tackle Pt Mac. B Reserve: Robe 20 Kongorong 21. As a coach this was a game I really wanted to get over the line for my team. Based on last year I believed we were in with a chance. It was goal for goal in all quarters except for a slip where we found ourselves 3 down, then we held our ground to be even. A loss by one goal is hard, especially knowing that everyone gave everything they had in the tank, and being aware there were 2 on the bench who didn't get a run at all. It was tough mentally, but probably a good game to teach us how to hold on for the win. We played “our” game, slow and determined, and we got results. It was tough, but it should be if you're neck and neck. I was very proud of this team on Saturday, all B rezzers played bloody well. We will learn how to take sides for the win. Goals are s ll a s cking point for us but Tuesday night sessions are allowing us to grow in many areas. As an exec member, I was chuffed to see many Robe netballers come over and cheer us on in the final stages. It meant a lot to our team that we had that support. Calcu a (Woodsoak Wines) to Amanda Clarke and my incen ve (Pure Luxe) to Cassie Obst who played a worthy consistent game which she has strived for following her previous match. A men on to Imy who umpired 2 games as well as played. We will miss ya face chik when you head overseas. B Grade: Robe 28 Kongorong 46. Another week of the team being saved by Under 17's. A few injuries had le our team short again last week. Everyone played a great game with the 17's absolutely killing the game, although we came down a er half me all players kept their heads high. Calcu a (Union Café) went to Libby Yeo for a great game in defence and incen ve (Steve's Place) went to Maddie Wirth. A Reserve: Robe 51 Kongorong 33. Fun filled and smiles all round, what a way to win. We played a great team game, suppor ng each other all the way down court. We had some amazing fast passages of play which gave us the upper hand early in the game. Defence was great, working hard and ge ng those turnovers and rebounds. Driving down court was so much be er, keeping to our sides and working with each other to bring the ball down. Having space awareness is something you can't teach, and today we did it quite well. Mid court and goalies worked so well together, we just knew where each other was going to be and worked the ball into the ring with speed and accuracy (well most of the me). Calcu a (Original Skin) went to Kimberley Aus n. Incen ve (Salubrious Hour) went to Keryn Moore. A Grade: Robe 83 Kongorong 31. Another great team game! Well done girls, 4 solid quarters of netball. The a ack line worked well, with a few changes from last week, Sarah had a boomer, showing her strength and accuracy. Tori had a cracker 4th quarter scoring 12 goals. Lucy and Annie combined well and fed the goalies with precision. Halle had a boomer at WD, ge ng her hands to lots of balls and taking many intercepts. Ellen had a great game at GD, she led down the court well and limited her goalies to only 1 goal in the last half. Alannah and Georgia both played well in GK, pu ng lots of pressure on talk goalies and making the most of all the rebounds. Congrats to Geo on her first A Grade game for the season. Calcu a (Holiday) went to Annie Hunter and incen ve (Loaves & Fishes) went to Sarah Laurie.

NETball club notes Junior 2: Great effort for our Mini Magpies again in the wet and cold condi ons. Areilla and Grace coming away with the best players, but in all seriousness, everyone deserved one. Adele and Gracie with another strong game showed their dominance in the team, with Heidi having a go at GA for the first me this season. She got some great space and kept going throughout the rain with great energy. Tahlia playing GS to start and then finishing string with GK and some great intercepts. Elana definitely didn't like the cold and wet condi ons but played GD for a half begrudgingly. Willow found space well and used her voice well also. In fact, they all showed improvement with their feet and passing, now to remember to get in front for the passes and keep moving into the space. All together I was very impressed with all of their a tudes and efforts they should be very happy with their game. Junior 1: Fantas c effort Li le Magpies in wet and cold condi ons. It was great to see some nice passages of play, with some good ming and strong shoulder passes - well done. The li le pocket rocket Ashley got plenty of intercepts (Wendy's Award) and Harper worked hard to apply ght defence. (McDonalds). 13 & Under: Very proud of the way all 8 girls played and more pleasing was that they listened to individual instruc ons and concentrated on implemen ng them! Ava (Hungry Jacks), Molly (Subway) were named best while Kiersten (Fasta Pasta) worked well with her three inexperienced teammates in goals. Lexi (Devine Gi s) and TeKarni showed really great defensive efforts with TeKarni also impressive in not being penalised for footwork errors. Thanks to Jorja for si ng bench. 15 & Under: It was a close game, but we were lucky to come away with the win. We did have some great passages of play but there was some passages that did let us down. We adapted well to posi onal changes as we are s ll trying combina ons out. It's important for us to play our game and not get swept up in the fastpaced game. Everyone did a great job and should be so proud of themselves. Georgia - Fasta Pasta, Chloe - Paradise Pizza, Gabby Subway, Shayden - Kaboom. 17 & Under: What a game by all 7 players. Our down court pressure was building all game, resul ng in mul ple hands to balls. The wet

NETball club notes condi ons made it hard to secure clean intercepts, but our backing up and want for the ball ensured we picked up countless crumbs all over the court. Jenna and Kori created space in the circle by clever movement, who were fed perfectly by Soph and Allara. Savannah made her opposi on work to find any space, while Abby and Eb worked over me in defence. Best players - Kori, Soph and Eb. B Reserve: A tough day out! But think all has been covered in our group chat. Awards: Jodi (Birdy Blue), Emily (RSL) and Gemma (Devine Gi s). B Grade: A er a strong start to the game with our now 8 players a er finding out we are another player down we managed to have a solid start. Goalers Gina and Rhianna proved to be a problem for the defenders. Mid court combined well with Imogene, Isobelle, Meg and Emily backing up from centre passes to make sure the ball got to out a ack line. Steph being thrown into any posi on made it hard for any player on her. Emily made sure there was no easy pass into the a ack line and turned over anything she could. A er numerous line-up changes the team se led no ma er what and con nued to extend the margin. All in all, the training in specific areas has started to pay off. Best: Imogene - Fasta Pasta, Rhianna Paradise Pizza. A Reserve: Kalangadoo hit the court firing against a tall Mount Burr. Applying consistent pressure across the court the Pies were able to break away early and maintain a strong lead throughout. Circle defenders Shanen Pulkkinen and Shanae Neale read the play and rebounded well, making it difficult for Mt Burr’s goalies to se le. Chloe Peacock and Georgia Gen le worked hard at WD, crea ng several turnovers which were capitalised on by a fast-paced mid court. Estella Searle dominated in a ack, moving freely into the ring, and shoo ng with precision. Supported under the ring by the reliable Maddy Bonanno, the duo were hard to beat. A Grade: Great team effort girls, to get a good win on the board and have everyone play their role. It was pleasing to see growth throughout the game, with the new look a ack line finding space and using the angles. Our defensive effort gave us plenty of opportuni es, with Re, Lauren and James applying ght pressure. Best players: Kori (Boost) and Re (St Mary's Gin).

A few close games last week against Port Mac and a draw. It is great to see so much improvement across all grades as the season progresses. I would like to thank all our volunteers who make themselves available each week to ensure the smooth running of the days. If you are available to help out no ma er how small it would be appreciated. Thank you to Dion Dinnison, who helped the netball club last week by unblocking the drains. It was greatly appreciated. Junior 1: A er a very slow first half, such a great improvement in the second half. Makes such a difference when you clear out and give space to come through. Thank you to Ella and Leah for filling in. Best players: Izzy (Penola Recycling) and Keeley (Baker’s Delight). 13 & Under: Good effort against a very good Port MacDonnell side. Pt Mac outscored us by 15 goals in the first quarter. I know it was horrible weather at the start but we need to learn to adjust our game to the condi ons. The last half was our be er quarters. We made lots of moves trying to stop their drive but we lack the want to get the ball, wasn't playing in front of our opponents and we played too loose in defence. Un l we start to improve these aspects we won't play as a team to enable us to win games. Pines Hotel award went to Kaylee for holding well, talking to her teammates and never giving up. Well done Kaylee. 17 & Under: Last Saturday’s game seen us come up against a strong team but the girls gave it a hundred percent and did not give up which is a credit to you all. The wet weather was not in our favour we just need to work on playing to the condi ons and controlling the ball down the court. We had some really good passages ge ng the ball down to our a ack line and working the

ball around the circle. Our defence took some good intercepts throughout the game which was good to see. We moved the girls around some new posi ons which they adapted well too. Best was Montana and Maddi. B Grade: We are definitely star ng to see some improvement with some really good signs of play. With knowing we aren't the fastest side we need to remember to play our own game and not try and rush our passes. We had some great passages ge ng the ball out of defence without as much crowding which was so great to see. Welcome Shannon to the team, you fit in great to the side and brought your knowledge and experience to the team. We saw what we can do. And that we should be able to get a win this year! We just need to make sure we put in our 100% all game and remember not to drop our heads as soon as it starts to get harder. Best players: Chrystal Lock and Ellie Jones. B Reserve: Not our best game, a few things we let slip but s ll a lot of posi ves. Did a lot of player shuffling and everyone stepped up to try something new. Best players: Davina Shepherd, Kat Chaplin. A Reserve: Bad luck girls, we were so close. Taking the court each Saturday is hard when every week we have a different line up, or players are not playing in the original spot but credit to you all for making it work. Jemma had a great game in the defence ge ng her hands to a number of rebounds and intercepts. We welcomed Demi Ingley back a er 4 years away and she had an instant impact with her drive and many intercepts. Cassie and Hayley Vanderhorst are combing well in goals. Well done to Bella Colbert who played her first senior game, she listened and did exactly what was asked of her. Thank you to the A Grade girls for always si ng bench to cover our voids. A Grade: Unfortunately we didn't come away with the win but we are improving each week and we are s ll playing compe ve netball. We had some amazing passages of play and everyone did what was asked of them. We will con nue to grow and work on the things we need to and good things will come our way when we start to play 4 consistent quarters. Best players were Kylie Heaver and Ange Pra .

NETball club notes Junior 2: The girls started off really well in the first half with Lily and Alyssa ge ng to have a few shots at goals with the help of some really good centre work from Sasha, Allara and help from the defensive end from Meeka and Ashleigh. In the last quarter we had some really good defence from Sasha and Lily to be able to get it down to Willow in goals and managed to have a go in goals and get a shot. Awards were given to: Willow - Crave and Dessert Bar, Ashleigh Boost Juice and Allara Muffin Break. Junior 1: Every week these girls are improving more and more. Loads of intercep ons and ball turn arounds. Some girls playing both ends of court throughout the game showed their skills and talents and very capable of playing both a ack and defence. Well done everyone. Awards: Sophie – Boost Juice and Flick – Crave Dessert Bar. 13 & Under: By far the best game the girls have played yet! The overall scores certainly did not reflect on game play. From the beginning of the match, the girls had it together as a team. They worked together so well in defence and goals, with a total of 23 goals shot, (most amount all season). Rahni Janeway, Tahlia Davis and Imogen Vandepeer all worked incredibly hard in goals. Best player was Tahlia Davis with a $10 voucher thank you to the Angelino family and Harmoni Kent with a $5 Kongorong canteen voucher. Very proud of all the girls. Amazing effort. 15 & Under: Great game girls with everyone pu ng in 100% and a great team effort. Thank you to Abby & Rahni for filling in for us. Awards: Crave: Alisha and Hungry Jacks: Zahli. 17 & Under: Not the result we were hoping for, but injuries and Covid didn't do

NETball club notes us any favours. The girls fought hard for the game and didn't drop their heads which I'm very proud of but we know what we're in for next me and should come out stronger. Awards: Marnee Spring Crea ve/Crave Dessert Bar and Paige – Lima and Co. B Reserve: I am so proud of your composure throughout the game last week girls. It was a hard fought 4 quarters and you can all hold your heads up high. Le a, Tamika and Courtney held their own in defence with Natalie, Alisha & Stacey working hard through the centre. Elly, Alex and Stacey worked well in goals and although the wind was not our friend, s ll shot well and gave it their all. It was hard to pick our best players as you all did so well. Alisha – Fasta Pasta and Stacey – Vanity. Keep up the talking and working as a team as it is reflec ng in how we play. Keep up the good work. A Reserve: Much be er than expected condi ons in Robe with the sun shining. Looking to con nue to work on some consistent line ups, didn't pan out with injuries and changes. Plenty of effort and defensive pressure down the court was great to see. Some work at training to increase connec ons and flow will see us con nue to build. Awards: Georgia - Muffin Break & Jess - Chemist King. A Grade: Great effort girls. With an extremely undermanned side we did so good to get our basics right and control the controllable. Defence worked relessly and a ack took chances and had some fantas c passages of play. Even when mixing up the side everyone put in 100% and for that I am very proud. Thank you to Zara, Megan, Sam and Jaz for helping us out. Awards: Zara The Commercial and Emily Springs Crea ve.

Junior 2: Our li le girls played another good game in their first experience of real winter condi ons! No one ran off when it started pouring so I wish I could have given them all an award. They were drenched and freezing but kept going. Awards went to Rachel for an awesome effort and following her player and to Lily who just keeps going no ma er how big her opposi on is. Brilliant job girls! Junior 1: Another great game we had against Glencoe! It was slippery and wet which made it hard to hold onto the ball. But the girls never gave up and kept trying their best! I'm loving how determined they are in the court and always play with a smile. The girls are finding space now on the court, but s ll need to work on coming in front to get a pass. Zahli and Summah were given the awards as they showed great persistence all through the court. 13 & Under: Wet weather made for some new challenges, being our first rainy game for the season. We started well in the first quarter, but struggled to move in front of the opposing players and make clear leads to move the ball through the mid-court, all the way down to our goal circle. We will keep working on this at our training sessions. Our defensive pressure has really improved over the first few games, with Lani working relessly in C crea ng leads and pressure, and grabbing a number of intercepts. Although Glencoe's shoo ng was o en accurate, Summah grabbed rebounds whenever possible and got her hands to intercepts which was great to see! Awards went to Summah Brown for her improved defensive pressure and Ebony Gardin for her confidence to give WD a go in the final quarter and doing a great job. 15 & Under: It was great to see this week our team finally coming together a er a couple of trainings with all players a ending. On court we created more flow in a ack leading well and we were able to work the ball into our goalies which created more opportuni es to score than previous weeks and we did. In the last quarter while defending we all put in 100% and turned over the ball many mes but unfortunately silly errors were made in a ack throwing away the opportuni es we worked so hard to create. Everyone did give their all for 4 quarters so well done. Demi Bevan - TFNC Meal Award, Isla Gordon - TFNC Canteen Award. 17 & Under: Bad luck girls. Our first wintry game for the season saw us make quite a few li le errors right down the court. We lacked the consistency for the 4 quarters and the drive down the court. But we can see how bad you want it girls as you con nued to fight right up un l the final whistle. Holly you con nuously work relessly in defence against any player you come up against which earned you the Fasta Pasta award. Megan you are our li le quiet achiever. You listen at trainings and it is evident on a Saturday. We can see your improvement each week, you

may not be the flashiest player but what you bring to the team can not be overlooked which earned you the Gino's award. Lets put that game behind us girls and move forward. Onwards and upwards! B Reserve: We came up against a strong Glencoe side and were unfortunately unable to come away with the win. We were pre y lucky, the weather held out and we managed to even get a bit of sunshine. We are s ll making lots of errors and throwing away unnecessary passes and allowing the opposi on to score from them. We need to learn to slow down, look a er the ball and be sure of our passes. Best players went to Tarrah who once again played a ripper game, running the centre all day, not only being an op on the en re way down the court but ge ng many turnovers. Also our comeback girl Brit, who slo ed straight into defence as if she had been there all year. A special men on to Jade and Chloe for stepping up from 17s to help us out, thanks so much girls. Let's come out stronger this week. B Grade: Bad luck girls, it was a hard game against a tall, strong opposi on. It was always going to be a challenging game and now we know what areas we need to work on at training. Our defenders and mid court ba led hard all day. Ffion had some great drives on to the circle and fed the ball in nicely and was best on court. Laylah played well on the wings. Bek and Kim made an impact when they came off the bench through the game. Tant 21 Glencoe 64. Best players: Ffion (New Heaven) and Laylah (Lima & Co). A Reserve: We were up against a tough and smart team which meant we needed to really put in each quarter. We had some great plays through each quarter but we also made some small mistakes with our movements and passing. We need to start focussing be er at trainings and really put what we do at trainings onto the court during game day. We s ll need to work out our combina ons as a new team. Keep being suppor ve to each other and posi ve and we will only just build our team up from there. Best: Danni Fi h and Madison & Sally - Somerset Motel. A Grade: Not the outcome we wanted last week but I think it shows what we need to work on and that we need to put in the me at training. We had a bit of a shuffle around of posi ons and we saw Michelle Robinson come up and play a solid game at WD! You slo ed in well. Tayla you con nue to work hard all game long and it is so great to watch. We also had a junior who played her first A Grade game, well done Bella! You played amazing. Let's keep building on what we have been working on and apply them into our game. Keep working hard girls and I think another win will come our way! Awards went to Michelle – Ladies Commi ee voucher, Bella – New Heaven Indian voucher.

Big shout out to Ang Tweddle who is playing her 300th Club Game today – congrats Ang! Junior 2: Amazing game everyone, especially in the rain! There was some great passes, intercepts and leading in front. When we asked you to adjust and keep moving you all did it. All of you are improving so much and we are going to keep having an awesome season. Metalworx Award went to Shelby Weedon for reading the play, leading and ge ng a lot of intercepts and Encouragement (Lico Pty Ltd Award) went to Indiana Cooper, you are doing well as a first year and each week you are con nuing to improve! Great work to everyone! Junior 1: Good game girls – we had some good passages of play but there are a few things we s ll need to work on – let’s keep working hard and listening at training. 13 & Under: 39-3. Another great game by everyone! There were so many turnovers due to our fantas c hand pressure all down the court. We were the first to any loose balls, allowing our goalies to convert. Our defenders worked hard all day and got so many touches to the ball. Dycer Construc on Award was well deserved by Isabella – an amazing game ge ng many turnovers and touches. Second best went to Kloe who also had an amazing game – crea ng many turnovers and applying great hand pressure over the ball – well done girls. 15 & Under: 44-25. Wow girls what a game. You guys all played a great game -working hard each quarter. There were some odd posi on changes but you took the challenge and found that you could do it and played your posi ons well. Emma Porter got the Maloney Plumbing Award, she drove hard to the ball, chased balls and was always an op on - you played great at WD. Second went to Jena Jagger who played out of her usual posi on but again defended well and was always an op on. Great shoo ng by the shooters and feeding into the goal ring by the a ackers. You played a great game as a team and always encouraging each other. Great win – well done! 17 & Under: 24-22. Excellent win girls! All 9 girls played so well and each played their part in ge ng us another win! We played a nice steady and consistent 4 quarter game. We created space for each other, lead hard towards the ball and backed each other up really well. We showed that we can be a really compe ve team when we believe in each other and our abili es. It’s really pleasing to see that what we have been working on at trainings

NETball club notes are coming into our game. DeGaris Lawyers Award went to Caitlyn who had a ripper game at GK with many well med intercepts against taller opposi on and second to Zoe M who fed beau fully into the circle and got plenty of defensive deflec ons. Well done girls! B Reserve: 51-37. Excellent team game by everybody. Our a ack played a great open game with space all the way down the court and also some great feeding into our shooters by Jules, Mikayla and Lydia. Bri and Lauren were given plenty of opportunity and were conver ng well. Great defence by Krystal, Jasmine and Alarna. Key 2 Sale Award went to Bri and second best to Lauren. Well done girls! B Grade: 64-21. It was so great to finally have majority of our team back and come away with the win! The new Mrs Hentschke (Planta on Treated Timber) showed us that married life definitely agrees with her and didn't miss a beat driving the ball down the centre and causing many turnovers. Dom (second best) also had a great game in the middle rarely missing a centre pass or an opportunity to feed the goalies. Big thanks to Jules for benching. This week sees us a full team dare I say it... let’s go out and have a crack! A Reserve: 64-16. Excellent game girls with lots of pressure and transi oning down the court. Everyone played so well and finally with everyone back showed what future games will be like. Everyone showed great defence all day as there was so many touches and backing up by everyone. Abbie excellent game all round, with your shoo ng and holding (B&P Travel & Cruise Award). Tameka great foot work and all the work at training is star ng to pay off. Well done girls it was a great team effort and good percentage booster. A Grade: 72-43. Great job girls! A er a disappoin ng loss the previous round it was great to see everyone come out with a winning mentality. Chloe (O'Brien Electrical Award) had a fantas c game stepping up into GK. You really mixed up your posi oning in the circle and completely shut down your opponent. A really posi ve game down the a ack end also – our pa ence on the feed was great to see. Donna had a great game running hard all day. Ashlea and Jenna connected well through the middle crea ng plenty of space and Malinda held well under the post and shot accurately. Great game Chelse (Conmercial Hotel) you got your hands to plenty of ball and it is exci ng to know that you have the ability to get to even more! A wonderful team game by everyone. Let’s put out another strong performance today.

Junior 2: What an amazing job everyone did! It was great to see you having a go at using shoulder passes and making lots of leads toward the ball. Defensively we played ght on our players and had hands over every ball. Everyone listened intently to the feedback during the quarter breaks and tried to put it into their court play. Well done girls! Awards: Poppy Bowering (McDonalds), Emma McGrath (HLC), Violet Fitzgerald (Toy Kingdom). Junior 1: The girls con nued to build as a team against Tant. Their hands over the ball, quick footwork and ght defence made it hard for Tant to move the ball freely. Livvi and Paige shot accurately in goals and use their dodge and front cut to get front posi on. Leyla and Alirah were passing accurately and always backing up goalies around the ring. Tilly and Arabella did not give their opponents an inch and were rewarded with many turnovers. Hazel and Kirby's pressure in defence was impressive and their quick transi on into a ack was great to see. Keep up the good work girls! Awards: Kirby Carruthers (Corner Clip), Tilly Prouse (McDonalds), Arabella Hassell (HLC). 13 & Under: It is posi ve to see the things we are working on in training star ng to impact your court play. Defensively Poppy, Meeka, Olivia B and Grace made their opponents work for every ball, intercep ng and picking up loose balls. Olivia H & Leni provided plenty of drive in our a ack line, feeding into the goalies well. Whilst Sienna, Luca and Sylvie's circle rota ons were second to none – finding the front posi on and crea ng space for their teammate. Well done girls. Awards: Olivia Hassell (Corner Clip), Sylvie Barlow (Toy Kingdom), Grace Andre (Toy Kingdom). 15 & Under: Fantas c game girls. It's good to see things we work on at training put into our game. Rosie did a great job with the defenders, and it really showed all over the court. The goalies all shot beau fully and the movement in and out of the circle was lovely to watch. Keep listening, working hard and trying new things and our game will con nue to improve. Well done everyone. Thanks to Olivia for helping us out whilst home on holidays. Poppy for si ng bench and always our wonderful parents for scoring and ming. Awards: Hailey McGrath (Ducky's Surf), Eva Thomas (HLC). 17 & Under: A quite scrappy first half of netball, there were many fundamental mistakes, to which we really struggled bringing the ball down the court. The second half of the game was a completely different one, there was strong transi ons from defence down to a ack. We really u lised our determina on and fitness which brought the score back to a goal in it. To finish off with a draw a er being 9 goals down for most of the game is an incredible effort. Keep con nuing to listen, individually and as a team push ourselves and bring determina on and our games will improve and be more successful. Awards: Indi Howell (Ducky's Surf), Dakota Hateley (HLC). B Reserve: Congratula ons Fee Jackman playing your 200th game, a huge achievement. Was great to see Andrew's fear of jinxing you if he watched didn't come true. Going into our game we knew we had to put into place what we have worked on right from the start and to the girl's credit they did that, we came away with a good win. We used all the court and was much be er not crowding the space as have done in previous weeks. Sarah had another great game in goals alongside Nic and in the last quarter Jess. Nic herself felt her game wasn’t her best, however, a er the first quarter she made the decision to be the feeder into both Sarah and Jess and it paid off, her voice and guidance to Jess and Sarah was paramount. Jess transi oned from WA in the 3rd to GS in the last with ease and put up some great shots. Our defence line was really strong, Fee and Lucy

showing again how well they work together both girls taking many intercep ons and Lucy holding strong against her player and taking many rebounds. Amy had another great game playing half in WA & WD, her confidence is growing every week and she is just ge ng stronger and stronger. Sally and Stace dominated in C, both girls feeding into our goalies with pa ence and precision. Grace playing her half in WA and WD had some good passages of play also. Jo took the court in the last quarter at WD and applied a lot of pressure on her player and took a couple of specky intercepts. Thank you to Kez for your help on Thursday night and words of wisdom. Thank you to Dizey for scoring, Anneke for ming and Sara for primary caring. Awards: Fee Jackman (Sassi), Lucy Bell (Somerset Hotel), Sarah Beare (HS&RC), Amy Haines (Kelsey Wight Fitness). B Grade: We came out with our intensity a bit lacklustre in the first quarter, but we were s ll crea ng many turnovers and were up by 4 at the first break. We were all working really hard all across the court with Hayley and Ellie working nicely in goals and Nat and Paris feeding well. Georgia, Ella and Sophie were crea ng turnovers for us, but we were s ll making some easy mistakes with a 5-goal lead at half me. Meg and Charlie came on at half me making no difference to the dynamics; Charlie shoo ng 3 from 3 and Ellie shoo ng 9 from 10, Tant also stepped up their game with minimal misses in their goal ring. We got a li le flustered in the last which reverted us back to crowding and Tant con nued not to miss, the intensity was there un l the end; Meg Gray got some vital turns to keep us in the fight but unfortunately, we couldn't quite keep the ball in our posi on with seconds to go, Tant shot their final goal for the game to finish with a 41 all draw. A draw is be er than a loss and we know we s ll have some hard work to do. Thanks to Mel Gibbs for scoring, Harris for ming and Di for being my wing lady! Awards: Hayley Bell (SinceFi y-Six), Sophie Gibbs (Somerset Hotel), Nat Chambers (Igni on Fitness), Ella Major (HS&RC). A Reserve: We took a li le bit to se le into the game with Tant scoring the first few goals. We need to remember to look down the court and always having one coming forward to the ball. Jasmyne played her first A Reserve game for the year and didn't disappoint. Her athle cism and speed were phenomenal at WD, ge ng her hands to many balls. There were some great rebounds from Millie, Rosie and Lucy in defence. Once we se led, we broke away, Helen fed the goalies with precision passes, Olivia had a solid game at GS standing strong to be a focal point in the circle. Congratula ons to Niah Faulkner who took to the court for her first A Reserve game in the last quarter at WA. She got her hands to some great intercepts and drove beau fully into a ack. Well done! Our physical presence all over the court creates many turnovers. We just need to be pa ent bringing it into a ack. Well done girls, enjoy the week off! Thank you to Sam for scoring, Kalli for ming and Liss for primary caring/coaching. Awards: Jasmyne Bellinger (Somerset Hotel), Lucy Corman (Alternate Life), Millie Smith (Heaven on a Hanger), Olivia Sla ery (HS&RC). A Grade: Again, not the result we wanted. Another low scoring defensive game where we just failed to capitalise on turnovers. Some of our decision making was not the best and this comes down to ming and pressure. Abby and Dem came on and gave us a life enabling us to win the second half, so there are plenty of posi ves to work on. Chels gave us plenty of ball to play with and kept a dominant GA to 7 goals... great effort. Let's just keep working on our game, with hard work and posi ve a tude. Thanks to Grace for scoring and Cav for ming. Awards: Chelsea Galpin (Somerset Hotel), Demi Vanderhorst (HS&RC).

ROUND 5 A GRADE NETBALL REVIEW Mount Burr 36 lost to Kalangadoo 45 Kalangadoo had Abbey Duncan back for a game at GA which was a welcome addi on to the side. Kalangadoo scored the first goal through youngster Kori Collins (GS) and this was met with a quick reply from Mt Burr, moving the ball strongly down the court. Kalangadoo applied defensive pressure, rebounding strongly from missed shots. Both teams took me to se le into the game, each causing turnovers. Defenders Maddi Hagge and Olivia Dean for Mt Burr and Reanna Weatherall and Lauren Kain from Kalangadoo made it hard for goalies to get an easy shot. A very ght quarter with Mount Burr leading by 1 goal. Started goal for goal with Weatherall and Kain in Kalangadoo defence con nuing to work hard to contain Mt Burr's goalies Ebony Clark and Zoe Brown. Defensive pressure from Kalangadoo centre court were making it difficult for Mt Burr to get a pass from the circle edge, causing turnovers that Kalangadoo scored from. Their pressure all other the court meant Mt Burr's passes were not hi ng the intended targets. Mt Burr's centre Laura Schultz worked hard to drive the ball into a ack and feed her goalies. Kalangadoo had more scoring opportuni es this quarter demonstra ng their ability to feed their goalies and convert from forced turnovers, leading by 6 goals at half me. The quarter again started evenly with Mt Burr ge ng the first break a er a mely intercept by Hagget in the Kalangadoo goal circle, allowing Brown to convert and peg back one goal. Kalangadoo con nued to pressure the ball the en re length of the court limi ng the opportuni es for Burr to penetrate the shoo ng circle. This was a ghtly contested quarter with both teams working hard to make the most of any turnovers. Peacock and Schultz con nued to drive the ball down court for their respec ve teams in centre, but neither side was able to make ground with the scores being 8 goals apiece and the 6 goal margin remaining at three quarter me. Mt Burr's defence was under pressure with Kalangadoo scoring the first 3 goals. Peacock at C for Kalangadoo con nued to drive the ball strongly into a ack. Abby Duncan (GA) was the focal point in the Kalangadoo circle scoring 9 of their 14 goals with 100% accuracy. Ebony Clark (GS) for Mt Burr was matching her at the other end scoring all 11 goals for her side in the final term with only 1 miss. The pressure all over the court meant that Kalangadoo had more opportuni es to feed their goalies and win the quarter by a small margin of 3. Best players - Mount Burr: Madison Hagge and Laura Schultz; Kalangadoo: Kori Collins and Reanna Wetherall.

Nangwarry 20 lost to Port MacDonnell 59

Port Mac started the game strong, scoring the first 5 goals and with fantas c defence effort from Alana Winter and Belinda O'Dine they made Nangwarry goalies Ange Pra and Tahlia Wilson work hard for every possession. Narelle Lewis and Liza Mutch were strong around the circle passing perfectly into Brooke Williams and Kirby Carrison. Nangwarry's Ebony Lawson and Kylie Heaver were pa ent working the ball well around the circle but O'Dine and Winter would capitalise on any goals missed. Quarter me Nangwarry 4 - Port Mac 16. Both teams started the 2nd quarter with the same line up and Port Mac con nued their dominance at both ends with O'Dine and Winter con nuing to make it hard for Nangwarry shooters to get in shoo ng range. Jess Trench took some great intercepts to help Port Mac extend their lead. Brooke Williams needed to come off which saw Toni Gilmore take the court and she certainly made her presence known scoring 6 quick goals making it extremely hard for Carly Ploenges and Shannon Higgins to stop any balls coming in. Half me Nangwarry 6 - Port Mac 27. In the third quarter Nangwarry made some changes to try and bring the game back closer. Pra went back to GS and Wilson came out to GA, Burner went to C and Lawson to WD. Port Mac also made some changes, Williams came back on at GA, Gilmore went to GS and young Arriella Smith came on at WD playing her first A Grade game. These changes seemed to help Nangwarry get some momentum, with Ange Pra holding well in the goal circle and with fantas c passing from Heaver and Burner saw Nangwarry get some goals back on the scoreboard. Ebony Lawson did well at WD cu ng the drive to circle off and making it harder for Port Mac to get the ball into their goalies. Gilmore showed she is s ll a goalie to watch out for scoring 16 of her 18 shots for the quarter. 3rd quarter Nangwarry 16 Port Mac 46. The final quarter saw Higgins come off for Nangwarry with an ankle injury and Demi Ingley taking the court for her first game in 4 years. Port Mac made a few changes with young Lara Wilson coming on in GS making her debut for A Grade, Gilmore went to GA, Williams went to WA and Lewis came off. This was a more even quarter seeing both teams' goalies playing well and shoo ng with high accuracy. Burner and Mutch were having a great ba le through the C and Ebony Lawson got some well- med intercepts for Nangwarry. Port Mac’s defenders O'Dine and Winter were too strong for the Nangwarry goalies and with precise shoo ng by Gilmore they ended up with a great win. Best players - Nangwarry: Kylie Heaver and Ange Pra ; Port MacDonnell: Brooke Williams and Belinda O'Dine.

Robe 83 defeated Kongorong 31 A er a fast start with Robe taking a couple of tumbles and stopping for injury me it

was an unse led 5 minutes. However, the 2nd half of the quarter saw Robe work well together as a team, with Sarah Laurie shoo ng with accuracy. Robe finished the quarter with an 8 goal lead. With no changes made at quarter me Robe really stepped up and consolidated, making the most of every turnover, with Robe's Annie Hunter and Lucy Perkins feeding the ball into Robe's goalies with precision. Kongorong's Riley Buckingham and Robe's Tori Gluyas were having a good ba le in the circle, however Robe were in front by 20 goals at half me. At half me there were a few changes with Kongorong's Buckingham going into goals and changing their whole defence line up. Robe only making 1 change at GK, with Jennings going off and Georgia Perkins taking the court for her first A Grade game for the season. The third quarter once again saw Robe's Laurie shoo ng with accuracy, only missing 2 goals for the quarter. Robe were in front by 39 goals at the last break. Once again Kongorong made a couple of changes at three quarter me with Sam Fox going into WD and Jasmine McKinnon going into C. However, Robe upped their defensive pressure down the court, ge ng their hands to lots of balls and making the most of every turnover. Kongorong's Buckingham played a good last quarter scoring 8 goals for the Hawks. But Robe were too strong, coming home with a great percentage boost, winning by 52 goals. Best players - Robe: Annie Hunter and Sarah Laurie; Kongorong: Zara von Stanke and Emily Lightbody.

Tantanoola 43 lost to Glencoe 72 Glencoe won the toss and took the first centre pass of the game but were not able to convert with a miss from the goalies and the Tigers defenders were strong on the rebound. The Tigers had a slightly different a ack line than usual, and Glencoe's ght defence made them work hard for every ball but managed to get the ball safely into Gould. The Tigers got a few goals on the board before Glencoe did, but it didn't take long for Jenna Paproth and Malinda Markiewicz to find their range going into the first break with a small lead. Sarah Edwards and Chelsea Owen were causing havoc for the Tigers' a ackers and picking up any loose balls that came their way. Glencoe con nued to build on their lead with Donna Jaeschke and Ashlea Edwards finding each other well in a ack and delivering the ball into their goalies. Glencoe extended their lead throughout the game despite mul ple changes by the Tigers to try and spark their side. Glencoe's ou it proved too strong for the home team and took the points comfortably. Best players - Tantanoola: Michelle Robinson and Bella Poulish; Glencoe: Chloe Pfitzner and Chelsea Owen.
