Junior Colts: We went down to Port Mac to face them in a ba le for 3rd posi on on the ladder. We were greeted with unusually bad condi ons for the ‘bay’ with a 40km/h south easterly making it very hard to move the ball up and down the ground. We kicked with the breeze to start but couldn’t quite capitalise. We managed just the 1 goal in the opening term but also let them kick one against it to e the scores at quarter me. The ball spent most of the me in our opposi on’s half in the 2nd and they were able to use the wind for their benefit boo ng 4 goals to our none in the second. I asked the boys to show some fight and determina on in the last half and to their credit they all stepped up and put their bodies on the line but couldn’t stop the momentum of the talented Port Mac side who ran away 10 goal winners. Some good individual efforts from Riley Bermingham and John Hinchliffe who both played their best games for the season. With three losses in a row now we need to get back in the winners column against Kalangadoo this week. Reserves: Wow what a stressful and hard week that one was, but what a win, couldn't be prouder of the boys last week. We had our backs against the wall with mul ple players out and many selected for Seniors. But somehow the boys went above and beyond yet again bea ng Port MacDonnell by 68pts. Would like to thank the senior colts that helped us out again and stood up on the field. Best for the day were Simon Ferguson, Anthony Kokiousis, Tom Emery, Elroy but all in all everyone was involved in an excellent win. See you on the track this week, we play Kalangadoo at home which will be a big game. Go Roosters. A Grade: Last week was an epic ba le between 3rd placed Robe and 4th placed Port MacDonnell, with both teams si ng on 3 wins and a loss. We travelled down to Port MacDonnell for their first home game for the season. Leading up to the game there were concerns that the oval may not be up to scratch with them not playing a home game for the season so far. To their credit and hard work, the oval looked and func oned well with no mud in sight and luscious green grass. Although the oval had a fresh look, the weather didn't provide pleasant playing condi ons with a strong breeze favouring the club end. The

wind always plays a significant role in all grades of football and netball at Port Mac and this round was no different. From the outset of the game, it was physical, tough, and intense. With a few of our key players out, it gave some others an opportunity to step up. Port Mac started the game with the wind and would look to use the advantage early. They penetrated their 50 on mul ple occasions with Kev Thompson looking dangerous and kicking 5 for the day. They kicked 4 goals 6 for the quarter. We fought hard into the wind, although we had fewer forward entries, we scored from all of them, kicking 4 goals 1 for the quarter. In the second, we would have the wind and it was our turn to use it to our advantage. We came out firing with Kaden Woodward ge ng it done in the midfield and up forward ge ng 3 goals for the day for Robe. Although the wind created an advantage it o en caused the ball to float over the forwards heads and out of bounds. We piled on another 4 goals and 3 behinds. We went into the half me break with an 8-point lead. In the last couple of quarters the wind couldn't make up its mind if it was coming or going. Port Mac came out looking for blood and the game intensity li ed for the remainder of the game. It would come down to who wanted it more. Majority of the half was played in front of the crowd sea ng with the wind pushing it out of bounds frequently. They had the wind and used it well and kicked 3 goals to our 1. Port Mac went into the 3-quarter me break, 7 points up. The game would come down to the last quarter. We again had the wind and looked to capitalise on the advantage. Jack Kelly was electric up forward for Robe kicking 2 goals and se ng up many more. We hit the front and were holding on to a 5-point lead as Port Mac were coming home with a wet sail and the wind advantage had all but disappeared. They con nued to send the ball inside 50. Our strong defensive unit of Jack Sneath, Brody Foulds and Egan Regnier took mul ple intercept marks and hustled right ll the end. We came away with a gutsy 5-point victory. It was a real team win with all players stepping up and playing their role. This week we take on the top placed Kalangadoo and will look to bring the heat at home. We will see you there for another Rooster spectacle.

Well done to the Junior Colts last week ge ng a big win over Kalangadoo. Following this week's game we have DJ VIrts, Libba and LT playing the tunes whilst we dress up with a le er from the word SAINT. Also don't forget to see Big Benny for ckets to purchase a horse for the Nangwarry Gold Cup Saturday June 25th (Hatherleigh at home). $30 a horse. 6 heats. First 2 from each heat through to the Gold Cup. Heat winners $50. Gold Cup winner $350, 2nd $150, 3rd $75. Horse names to Ben behind the bar paid in full by cash or EFTPOS only by May 24th. Also we have implemented a few rosters for the remainder of the season and there maybe a few more so please check these and make sure you give a hand to ensure home games run smoothly. This week's sponsors are PE Stump Removals and Village Pharmacy. Thank you once again to these loyal sponsors for jumping on board for the 2022 season. Peter and Gaylene Radley have been loyal supporters of the Saints for a number of years both on and off the field and we are lucky to have them. We also highly recommend Gambier Village Pharmacy for all you medical needs. Under 11: Really impressed with our under 11s at Kdoo. A li le slippery under foot to start this morning. But our boys were up to the task. Awesome on the ground, some great grabs taken and plenty of snags kicked. One thing that was awesome to watch was that outlet handball all day we were looking for it from a contest and it really set us up well up forward! Junior Colts: A great result for our Junior Colts against Kalangadoo. We started out strong in the 1st quarter with the aid of the wind. To K'doo's credit they played some good congested footy in the 2nd to slow us down. We reset in the 3rd and kept that momentum going the rest of the game. We played our best team footy of the year linking up well and working together to move

the footy from defence to a ack. It was great that a few of our first year and under 11 players were able to kick their first goals for the club. Best players were Calais, Benne , Harvey, Tayte, Blake and Orion. Senior Colts: Like most weeks this season, it was the same old story. We play some great patches of footy but for not nearly enough! It's fair to say our boys didn't arrive at the game un l quarter me and were lucky we weren't 10 goals down by then. Like I said last week we certainly need to train a lot more together to be able to improve enough to be able to get into a posi on to win games. Best players Archer Virtanen, Ty Dinnison, Benne Moy, Noah Virtanen, Taj Bell and Calais Bormann. B Grade: We came up against a very good Kdoo side, but the players we put on the park had a red hot crack. There was some very good signs of the way we want to play. Today we host Mt Burr it's a must win game to keep us in site of the top 4. Once again thanks for people filling in on short no ce. Best Sco , Rowe, Vesa, Milsy, Josh, Marcus. Goals Josh, Jordan. Bring on this week. A Grade: From a personal perspec ve it was the toughest week of coaching I've had, we take momentum from playing Port Mac into having 11 or 12 changes by the me we ran out against Kalangadoo. For our boys it was about learning as much as we could from the best team in the league and pu ng pressure on them. Though at half me it was 50+ points I thought our pressure was great in patches and forcing them wide to make their scoring shots difficult. Our boys ba led all day with young Ty Dinnison and Blake Neshoda really stepping up. We were without a bench for the last quarter and a half and it showed as Kalangadoo torched us. Full credit to Kalangadoo, they're the benchmark club in netball and football and I'm hoping that's where we get to as a club in the near future. Cheers LT

Junior Colts: Unfortunately last game I had to work, but a big thank you to everyone who stepped up and helped out with the kids it was greatly appreciated. A big thank you to the Hatherleigh boys and Dylan Clough for helping to organise this, great to see other clubs helping each other out. To our boys from all reports you played a great team game and came away with our first win. Best players for us this week were Charlie Bevan, Hudson Nowak, Reed Gardiner, Levi Thiele, Jayden Garner, Logan Carr. We had the bye last week and look forward to our next challenge in Nangwarry. Thanks again to everyone who helped out in anyway, it’s really appreciated. Cheers Tom Senior Colts: Last week we came up against a very determined Kalangadoo team that ran it up to us all game. Thanks to the boys that went over and played for them, you all showed great sportsmanship. The boys played good football for most of the game and are star ng to gel a er some hard work on the track over the last couple of weeks. Best players were Charlie Bevan off chb rebounded hard all day, Cohen Montuori is really star ng to realise he can have a big say in our results, Braden Manhood stuck all his tackles and pressured all game, Muhammad Abduvhobov is playing clever football and always puts his body on the line and Bradlee Lawson is working hard all game and having a very consistent year. B Grade: A er a great win the previous week it was a bit of a reality check for our B Grade to come up against a very strong Kalangadoo side. Congratula ons to a number of players who went up to A Grade to cover injuries. Thanks to the 3 Senior Colts who

stepped up and helped us field a side. We competed really well throughout the game but couldn’t stop the Kalangadoo side from transferring the ball from defence to a ack and scoring consistently. Best player on the day was our captain Zac Gray who led from the front. Other players to do well were Brock Sandow, Noah Telfer, Ben Ballantyne, Harvey Muhovics, Jayden Poulish, Kaz Neilson and Jack Francis. We looked forward to the bye round last week and expect to come out and be very compe ve in our next few games. A Grade: Effort was the aim of the day against Kalangadoo and very proud of the way the boys went about their football. I thought our pressure and a ack on the ball in the first half was great and the effort that each individual gave for the en rety of 4 quarters was something our supporters would be happy with. Credit to Kalangadoo, who are always going to be a tough opposi on and make the most of their chances, but scoreboard aside I thought we played some great football. Really pleasing to see guys step up and make the most of a different posi on. As long as we keep bringing that same effort and can build on it, the results will start swinging in our favour. Congrats to Brodie Hennink on his 200th, a great milestone and capped off with a BOG for us. Well done mate. 2nd best was Ed Ballantyne who played a great game followed by Wilbur Bowering, Captain Fiebs, Sammy Wallis and young Cal Sparkes who played well wherever he went. Looked forward to the bye week and ge ng some recovery in, bring on Nangwarry. Go Burr.

Miss Tiger is happening tonight and is set to be a cracker! Have you been able to guess who our stars are yet? Tickets are $10 and can be purchased from Emma Gould or Jami Walker, families are welcome with under 12's free. See posters around the club or our Facebook page for more informa on. Thank you to our valued sponsors who have signed up for this season so far. If you would like to sponsor or know someone who would like to please see Julie-anne Cytrowski or Janice Kelly to view our packages, there is something for everyone. Under 11: Extremely windy condi ons made it a tough game for the kids. Going into the wind was hard with kicks nearly going back over their heads, but they never gave up trying. We ended up changing ends to give both sides the opportunity to go with the wind. I'm sure the kids bragged about how far they could kick with the assistance of that gale. The kids ba led hard all game throwing their bodies into the contest with many great ba les and big hits. Again week by week the way all the kids are developing is great to see with more and more of them willing to get in the bo om of the packs and get themselves dirty. Awards went Maxx Bevan and Asher O'Loughlin, Joey Weir, Beau Brown and Sophie Sporer. Junior Colts: We headed to Kongorong last week and the weather gods handed us a shocking day for football. Our much younger team started the game really well with some great running, tackling and defensive work. We switched off for the middle two quarters then came out in the last and played another good quarter of football. I was proud of our much younger team against a team with a lot of top age players that have played a lot more football together, if we keep prac cing and s ck together we will get to a similar posi on. Best player where Kaden Bell, Jayden Hunter, Jedd Hardingham, Jake Bevan and Kobe Bromley. Senior Colts: With no Magic Mike it was le to old mate Boata to steer the ship with Ellis, Cade, Cory and Longy back for a kick - thanks Longy. The boys were up and about early
kicking the first couple with the wind however Kongorong being a good side started to run the ball and we only went into quarter me 2 goals up. When it was their turn they used the ball be er than we did and we were a li le loose in defending to be 3 goals down at the half. The boys got it back to only be down by a goal at three quarter me with some great centre clearance work helping us bridge the gap. The last saw them run away with it to eventually lose by 8 goals but the boys never threw it in but were a bit undersized. Keep at it lads - a win isn't far away. Best were Cade, Ellis, Sam, Jack and Kaden. Thanks to the junior colts who keep filling in and are doing a great job. Also thank you to Tom Winkley for doing the running and Jordan Ha for helping with the coaching. Reserves: Round 6 at Kongorong saw what can only be described as an absolute ba le. Only 5 goals kicked between the two teams for the whole game, even though there was a very strong breeze favouring one end but again s ll winless by the end of the game. Best players were Nick Cory, Zac Walker, Sco Bowering, Aaron Trowbridge and Rhys Po er. A Grade: G'day everyone. Last week we headed down to Kongorong to take on the Hawks. With captain Pi sy stepping back into the side and young Braydn Hateley making his debut, it was clear the boys were up and about to back up last week's win with another W in the books. With a very strong 1 end wind again the boys only instruc ons was to play smart and play smart they did. Short kicks into breeze and smart movement with it. While we lost our CHB early in the game adjustments had to be made, the boys did a great job working with the weather and injury management to put plenty of the score on the board to be able to come into the last a few points up. To come away with a 3 goal lead was a great end to welcoming the skipper back and introducing young Hateley to senior footy. Best in no order were Corey Barre , Jordan Ha , Darcy Pink, Troy Ha and Jack Dawe.

A Grade: A er a tough start to the season with injury and unavailability the A Grade are finding themselves in a good posi on of 2 and 1 with the bye already been taken. Last week we had our first home game for 2022 on the newly grassed oval that looked an absolute treat and credit to all involved. With another week that had a few selec on issues for the coach, but another good side was presented to the field for the important clash against Robe to try and consolidate a spot in the top 4. The team also celebrated the 100th game for Kyall McLean who is one of the most determined players that you will ever see and would run through a brick wall to make a contest and win the ball for his side. The game was played at a high standard considering the very windy condi ons and the scoreboard reflected this with both teams never being no more than a few goals apart. Unfortunately, a few key misses at key mes cost us dearly in the end, with Robe taking out a very good 4 point win. Best for the week, Mark Smith, Kyall McClean in game 100, William Macdonald, Tim Sullivan, Ben O’Dine, Jake Schleter.
this will only benefit the club for years to come. We also welcomed back Ma Byrnes who played his first game in a few years a er a nasty leg injury a few years ago. A er a ght first quarter, the Robe lads managed to take hold of the game in the middle 2 quarters and score a li le more freely that we were able to, especially in the near cyclonic winds that were presented on Saturday. In the last quarter even though we were s ll outscored our boys managed to stem the scoring a bit and even up the contests. As always the effort was fantas c and if we could get the same side on the park for 2 weeks in a row and even a training night the results will come. Best for the week, Ma Byrnes, Jacob Spehr, Rory Na rass, Daniel Fisher, Ryan Von Stanke.
B Grade: Another week and another challenge for coach Donovan in his quest for B Grade glory or a week that he isn't running around trying to find players on the morning of the game. Thankfully we have a group of keen Senior Colts that are keen to have a second game for the day. Not sure if it’s for the love of the game or to get out of boundary or water, either way it’s good that they are keen to help and also it is a great experience for them to play a li le bit of senior footy. This will be one of the posi ves of the year that some of the colts have had exposure to senior football and
Junior Colts: Last week we took on Robe at home. It was fantas c to finally have a home game even though it was in very windy condi ons. I thought the kids played the condi ons extremely well, both defensively and a acking. It was also very pleasing to see the kids playing a very unselfish and disciplined brand of footy. Our best players were Kai Gilmore who con nues his stellar season. 2nd Harry Carroll who showed great discipline all game. 3rd Will A will who ran hard all day and shared the ball around amongst his teammates. 4th Lincoln Bowd who read and ran the ball beau fully out of defence. 5th Zane Lewis who roved the ball excep onally well. 6th Zaylen Smith provided a big body around the contest and gave his teammates first use. Overall it was a great team game with everyone contribu ng. We must wish Casey Wilson a very speedy recovery from a broken collar bone and we hope to see you back on the track soon.

A Grade: Last Saturday we played at Glencoe eager to get a good start and we did just that. Our midfield got on top and managed to drive the ball into our forward me and me again resul ng in a good 5 goal first quarter against a very strong wind. The second quarter our midfield was again on top but due to some wayward kicking we only managed the one major alongside 8 behinds. The last half we focussed on our ball delivery and managed to dy it up pu ng on 10 goals and running out with a good win. Mikey Telford and Will Chay were everywhere winning the ball forward in every contest. Jack Skeer and Max Telfer were both very good targets up forward both bagging 3 goals while Sam Gray was brilliant down back with good composure. This weekend we are at home hos ng Kongorong in what will be a massive day for the club with sponsors day and also premiership reunions. Can't wait to see everyone out there! Go Eagles! B Grade: Well we made the bumpy li le drive down to spudville on Saturday to take on the ‘Coe, a er the week off the boys were keen to get into things. In not ideal condi ons and our goal kicking was a bit stray to start in the first half, we sharpened up our ball movement and forward entry to finish the second half off the way we want to play. Reidy con nued his good form to earn first best, Muzz had a good day across half back with his run and carry to open the game up with his silky ball movement to secure second best. The skipper chipped in with 3 goals and had a good day around the ground to finish third best. Fourth best went to Gilby who had a good day in and under. Ben Leopold showed once again what he's capable of doing and chopping anything off that came his way to take out 5th. Special men on to Rural who kicked one of the worst out on the fulls you'll see in country football and had the crowd in s tches - he also finished with 7 snag rolls. Big week for the club and a challenge for our boys coming up against Kongorong.

Senior Colts: For round 6 we headed down to Glencoe to take on the Murphies. As we arrived to the oval the weather condi ons looked ordinary in what was a strong swirly wind. It did not bother the boys though as to start the game we headed into the wind with no troubles at all. Our midfield con nued their form using the ball well and crea ng space with short kicks and quick movement. Harvey Jones started off the game strong in front of goals kicking 4 in the first quarter with the team finishing on 8 goals. As we turned and went with the wind in the second quarter we put the foot on the pedal again pu ng up another 4 goals and having majority of the possession and inside 50's for the dura on of the quarter. The rest of the game played out in a similar fashion tacking on 4 goals in the 3rd and 3 in the 4th. Finishing off with a good win of 110 points. Best players for the day were Aus n Ne le and Blake Werchon, whom used their skill and composure to deliver the ball well even with troubling weather condi ons. Harvey Jones found the scoreboard once again boo ng another 6 goals for day. Je Faulkner provided his usual run and carry off of the half back flank and Tyson Atkinson using his ability well through the half forward and the midfield. We look forward to heading back to the nest this week to take on Kongorong in our sponsors day round. Junior Colts: Unfortunately couldn't get the job done against Glencoe, our backs were against the wall going in to the first change 4 goals down, we played a really good second quarter kicking a couple of goals resul ng in winning the quarter. Glencoe kicked 2 goals in the third making it tougher for us going into the last, we managed to hit the scoreboard in the last but couldn't get the job done. Can't fault the team’s effort across the game, we gave it our all, just a couple of mistakes that resulted in goals. I know we will bounce back and be be er from this experience against a good opposi on.

A great night at the club last week and a special thanks to Brad Long and Em Lightbody for coordina ng it all, and to those that made the effort to dress up in teams/partners, it certainly added to the atmosphere. Congrats to Dan and Jake on taking out the win, and Tilah and Riley for the best fancy dress. We hosted our close neighbours Tantanoola last week and got three wins from four. Reviews and best players are as follows: Under 11: Another even game last week against Tantanoola. Teamwork con nues to improve, as they are looking to pass the ball off, instead of kicking it down the field. It's great to see so many kids out there having fun, and their development from week to week is a reflec on on their efforts at training, so well done. It was also pleasing to see some Tantanoola kids join in for a game at half me of the Seniors game, even when it rained the whole me! Thank you to the ladies who came out and helped - the kids had a ball. Award winners - Inter Sport: William Beare, President's Award: Meeka Aikenhead, Angelino Family Award: Jackson Thomson, Coach's Award: Tyler George, Club Award: Harry Webb and Donut King: Billy Angelino. Junior Colts: With a few out, and a wind that was going to make it tough, we welcomed an undermanned and undersized Tant team. First quarter was a bit scrappy going into the wind but from there we worked our way through the game to come away with the points. Best players and awards went to Blake Telford - Rarcoola Structural Award, Rhys Newton - Rocks Shop Award, Declan Richardson – Spot-On Fishing Award, Ryan Angelino - Mick Mullan Award, Jacob Gordon – Coach's Award, Axel Page - Janeway Plumbing Award. Looking forward to heading up to Hatherleigh this week, in what is always a tough ba le on their big ground. Senior Colts: Great to be back on the winner's list last week. Mackye Baron returned from Glenelg and was in excellent form to take out best player on the day and receive the Ma hews Petroleum Award. MT Wheels Award went to Tyler Richardson for another solid effort, followed by Tommy Bellinger taking home the Swallow Drive Meats Voucher. Mick Mullan has been a great supporter of junior footy over the years and the Mick Mullan Award went to Declan Wright. Kur s Lasle received the Coach's Award and in sixth best was Bam Kent who con nues to grow in his footy, ge ng the Badenoch Deli Award. Let's keep up the good work fellas, get the numbers

out to training and con nue to consolidate on the work we have put in thus far. We take on Hatherleigh this week, and will need to bring our 'A' game for this one. Reserves: Watching the colts kick footys into the wind that sailed 50 metres back over their heads for a few hours, prepared us for the tough old grind. In a ght scrappy game, the boys fought really hard and got the job done. Our last quarter was definitely a big improvement on last round and whilst we have lots of work s ll to do, winning ugly is an important thing to know how to do. Dan Hann was excep onal all over the ground for the Commercial Hotel Award. Jack Mullan con nues to play mul ple roles for us at a high level and took home the Collins Court Butchers Award. The Judd train rolled on and Andrew Telford took home the Club Tea Award. Declan Robinson keeps ge ng be er each week and stood up around the ground for the Pick Avenue award. Bohdi Pannenburg rucked all day and gave everything for the team for the other Club Tea award. Big test this week against the Eagles. Seniors: Disappoin ng, as not the result we were a er, and lack of consistency plays a big part in that. More than capable of taking out the wins, but only with a solid four quarter effort by the whole team. We have some excellent quarters, then let the momentum lapse, only to have to chase. S ck to the game plan and the results will come. Captain Marty Von Stanke returned to the team in fine form, rebounding the ball out of defence, to receive the Bellum Hotel Award. Aaron 'Kouta' Lightbody was solid down back, and is having a good year so far, to take home the Collins Court Butcher Award. Tommy Hunter's work rate earnt him the Commercial Hotel Award, and Brayden 'Nugget' Leicester's effort saw him awarded the Club Tea Award. Corben O'Dea, even though slicing his hand open, received a Club Tea Award, and Will Vickery rounded out the best players. This week a er the game we will head back to the Bellum Hotel for award presenta ons and tea. All welcome. Next week the netballers are on meals, always a good feed, and there's kid's ac vi es planned to keep them entertained. Following that, we get a few weeks off, however we host the South East Zone Carnival and will need lots of volunteers to ensure the day runs smoothly, so please put your hand up to help out, don't wait to be asked. Good luck to all our teams today against Hatherleigh.

ROUND 7 A GRADE NETBALL PREVIEW Robe v Kalangadoo Robe will be hos ng Kalangadoo on Saturday, in what will be the match of the round. With the strength of Abbey Duncan combined with youngster Kori Collins in the goal circle for the Magpies, Robe's defence will have their work cut out for them. Kalangadoo's defenders Reanna Wetherall, Shannen Pulkinen and Lauren Kain will have to work hard to keep the ball from Robe's accurate goalies Sarah Laurie and Tori Gluyas. The match up of Sophie Wrightson and Ellen Ramke on the wing will be one to watch, with both figh ng for every ball. However, the experience of Kalangadoo may prove to be too much for the young Roosters team at the end of the game.
Nangwarry v Mount Burr Mount Burr are coming off of the bye this week and are heading down to Nangwarry. Hayley Burner will work hard to feed her goalies Ange Pra ad Tahlia Wilson with accuracy for the Saints.
Olivia Dean and Madi Hagge will fight to create every possible opportunity for a turnover in the defensive circle for Mt Burr. Nangwarry's defensive combina on of Tahlia Puckridge and Carly Ploenges will have to put pressure on Mount Burr's goalies, Ebony Clark and Zoe Brown. Clark's accuracy within the goal circle will prove beneficial for the Mozzies. Mount Burr will finish the day with the points.
Tantanoola v Port MacDonnell Port MacDonnell will travel to Tantanoola in what could prove to be a close game. Tant's Casey Walker and Madi Kelly will feed accurately into Emma Gould and Jami Walker in the circle, with the poten al for youngster Bella Poulish to also step into goals for the Tigers. However, the combina on of Alana Winter and Belinda O'Dine in the defensive circle will put the pressure on for Tant's goalies. The experience of Toni Gilmore and her accuracy in the goal circle, paired with Narelle Lewis on the ring will leave
minimal opportuni es for Tant's defenders. This game has the poten al to end with either team coming out on top a er a tough ba le down the court.
Hatherleigh v Kongorong Hatherleigh would be happy with their win against Glencoe last week and will come out riding that high when the whistle blows on Saturday. Demi Vanderhorst and Lara MacGregor's combina on in the defensive circle for Hatherleigh will have hands to every ball, making it tough for the Hawks' goalies. Riley Buckingham, Sarah Lucas and Emily Lightbody all have the poten al to play in defence for Kongorong and force any errors for Hatherleigh's goalies. Maddie Redman had an incredibly accurate game in round six and will be hoping to repeat that this week. Kate Wright and Chelsea Galpin's ba le on the wing will be impressive, with both figh ng for any loose balls. A er a tough game, the home side will come away with the points.

NETball club notes 13 & Under: Pt Mac 49 Robe 15. Unfortunately, the girls couldn't get the win against Port Mac. Their girls were a lot taller and obviously older than us. It was a good learning curve for the girls playing in gale force winds and against such a strong side. The wind was definitely not in anyone's favour. Our defence line Aleisha, Holly, Lacey, Milla and Saskia - worked relessly all game against Port Mac's unbeatable a ack line. Our a ack line did their job and had some great passages of play. Unfortunately, the girls dropped their heads at the score but their efforts for the whole game were amazing. We have some things to work on at training this week! Special shout-out to Saskia who played half a game for us, up from J1s and did an amazing job! Best player (Salubrious Smoothies) went to Millie for her efforts in and out of the goal ring and Incen ve (Robe Seafood & Takeaway) went to Kaitley for playing her role no ma er the posi on! 15 & Under: Pt Mac 22 Robe 24. Great game girls. All of you worked as a team and worked hard all game to get the win! Our changes were so good and helped us play a controlled more balanced game of netball. Weather was terrible for our poor goalies and having 2 tall defenders probably didn't help for rebounds. Kicks, Georgie and Lucy all played well, just needed some extra height in that circle. Mid court with Tilly star ng in C was nice and controlled which helped our a ack line. Jenna and Madi played a great game at WD pu ng lots of pressure on their player. Ella played a strong game at WA and then moving to C working over me to return the ball to our scoring end. Emily had a ripper game at GD crea ng numerous turnovers and driving down court well. Charlie was strong at GK and when changed to WA increased her work rate and decided she now loves WA, was lovely to see! Tilly and Emily combined so well in defence, talking to each other and suppor ng each other, which is great progress for our team. Everyone played so well and encouraged each other which was so great to see! Can't wait to see you progress again :) Best player (The Pastry Place) - Emily for her strong game at GD. Incen ve (Union Café) Ella for her great control of the game. 17 & Under: Pt Mac 34 Robe 36. You know it's a good game when both your coaches lose their voices! We are so proud of your commitment and drive to win! You all pulled together as a team and backed each other. With strong winds and strong defence you all had to adjust your game to come forward - what a difference this makes to our game. You wanted it and you got it! Let's have this approach to the rest of the season! Best player (Pure Luxe) went to Mads for clean hands throughout defence and the back-up down the court. Incen ve (Loaves & Fishes)
NETball club notes went to Sienna who played a boomer and worked relessly for many turnovers. Keep that intensity this week when we take on the Doo at home. B Reserve: Pt Mac 44 Robe 4. A few niggling injuries influenced our overall game, and I don't think we can blame the wind for our inconsistency. S ll, we had a crack, with some great efforts across the court. The versa le Jess was a highlight. As was Mandz who defended well with an injury. I tossed Liv from one end to the other but she was s ll smiling and brought lollies. Courts had a taller tough opponent in WA but was making nice clear leads in GS (future goalie perhaps). Cass is star ng to se le in goals but the dicky knee put her on the bench. Robin is a dedicated player and scored the Calcu a (Salubrious Hour) for her efforts. Anne gave everything in the tank and was a great asset on the goal line to assist the a ack, earning her the club incen ve (Union Café). The coach felt like giving a couple extra cash incen ves; one to Imy who couldn't get a ball through the hoop if she tried but posi oned remarkably well there, and to Rhi who I refused to bench cos her fingers hurt, so she pulled a ripper last quarter in WA yep you heard correct. Thanks to Bai for team managing - you'll be back on the court in no me. B Grade: Pt Mac 34 Robe 13. Best player (The Eighth Le er) - Sophie Kokiousis, Incen ve (Pure Luxe) Mahalia Bathurst-Warren. A Reserve: Pt Mac 26 Robe 36. Great game girls, nice and controlled. The weather condi ons made for an interes ng game to say the least! Demi and Ash s ll performing and ge ng at rebounds they could. Ella played great coming on into goals for Demi and con nued the nice calm goal circle. Our mid court Keels, Skim and Kez combined well and used each other for backup all game, it felt like a million li le passes and dodges back, but we got there! Defensive pressure from Kim and Alannah was strong, turning over when they could. We changed the way we played to adapt to the weather condi ons which was so good and have us the win. Calcu a (Holiday) went to Demi Carter and incen ve (The Pastry Place) went to Kimberley Aus n. A Grade: Pt Mac 27 Robe 25. It just wasn't our day in the windy Port Mac condi ons. It made it hard to a score goals which made it hard for us to play our game. A er being down by 5 at half me we fought hard but just couldn't come away with the win going down by 2 goals. We are looking forward to coming out strong this week and playing our game against Kalangadoo. Calcu a (The Original Skin Clinic) went to Lucy Perkins for a great controlled game at WA and incen ve (Loaves & Fishes) went to Ellen Ramke for playing her role.
Junior 2: Mini Magpies had there best game yet! They even scored, 4 goals and they where so super excited! It was so difficult to choose best players due to everyone pu ng in their best efforts. Elana having her best game of netball so far with mul ple intercepts, Adele adjusted to GA and GS with ease and was a major asset, crea ng space and voice. Willow also staring, shoo ng 3 of the 4 goals in the last quarter! Ariella had a game at WD and had an uncanny knack for finding and chasing loose balls. Grace and Heidi both ge ng the ball and using it well each me. And to top it all off we had Tahlia, and Gracie working so well together, they used their height and experience to our advantage. Olivia had a great day playing GD for the first me this year, and really drive the ball from defence to a ack. With everyone on the court showing so much improvement it was a great day! Adelle and Olivia got the awards, with amazing games had by both. Junior 1: What a great defensive game li le Magpies with plenty of hands over the ball, quick footwork and ght defence with many intercepts and touches - well done. It is great to see the girls con nue to build as a team. Ella and Harper passed accurately and always backed up the goalies around the ring. Lexi, TeKani and Milla's pressure in defence was great to see. Jorja, Ma lda and Ashely's quick transi on in a ack was impressive remember to also look down the court. Best players: Jorja (Penola Recycling) and Milla (Kaboom). 13 & Under: Emily and I are super proud of these girls - for the second week in a row they followed individual instruc ons and played well together as a team. Ma lda (Wendy's award) took some real “specky intercepts” in defence, ably supported by Molly. Kiersten and Lucy (loved the front cuts and holds!) shared the DK hot chocolate award - they combined beau fully together. Ava con nued her consistent form and Zara's entry to the game ensured dominance through the centre. Lexi is showing more confidence, resul ng in handy turnovers while Emmity (Devine Gi s) really turned it on in the second half with her strong leads. Thanks to TeKarni for being available each week on the bench - the whole team is apprecia ve. 15 & Under: Great job girls! We need to keep working on the li le things throughout the whole game. We got our target and we finished the game off well. DK Coffee - Kiera, Boost Tegan, Paradise Pizza - Molly. 17 & Under: Another wonderful team game! We are really beginning to gel as a team and do our individual roles, which is so pleasing to see. Our pressure all the way down the court resulted in mul ple turnovers, which is being rewarded by our goalies who are shoo ng with such accuracy. Allara (Subway) created space all game, with speedy drives and clever re-offering. Abby (Fasta Pasta) read the play all game, taking mul ple intercepts before the ball could even hit their goal circle. Jenna (Wendy’s) moved
brilliantly in goals and then transi oned into the mid court where she did exactly the same. Thank you to our brilliant 15s - Maya, Shayden and Georgia, we appreciate your flexibility (and skill) each week. B Reserve: A me for our team to reset, and this game gave us the opportunity to try some different combina ons with lots of “posi ves” to work on. Emma M, Jodi and Angie played their usual consistent games and Gem (great passing and promising shoo ng!) showed her versa lity in the “other end” goal circle. Sam (Birdie Blue award) played well in posi ons all over the court while Chelsea (St Mary's award) surprised herself, more than others, with her s nt in defence. Emma S (Devine Gi s) showed how far she has come in a very short me. Maddy and Emily (best, hardest and most drama c “on court”) were limited with court me speedy recovery to you both. B Grade: We had a slower start and then we were building during each quarter. Our third was definitely our best with everyone on the court hustling hard to get any loose balls or hands over the ball. There was many changes at each quarter me and everyone was able to adapt and se le into the new posi ons. Need to keep building together as a team and working on our on court talk. Best players were extremely hard to pick with every player playing such great netball and adap ng well. Fasta Pasta - Steph, Pharmacy Rhianna. A Reserve: An interes ng game this week from the A Res. Firstly thanks Mel for coaching. We started a li le slowly ge ng in to a groove defensively against two very accurate shooters. Our full court pressure lacked a li le and is something to work on for the next few weeks. Maddy and Estella are working really well together and shot consistently all game. We started to breakaway a li le in the 3rd quarter against a very consistent Nangwarry but that was quickly halted with a couple of injuries. We hung on in the last quarter and came away with a not so pre y win. We'll miss Jamie and Lucy for a few weeks but take the opportunity to change things up a li le and welcome Shanen back hopefully this week. All things considered such a fun team and group who I'm keen to get back to this weekend. A Grade: Well done Magpies on working hard for four quarters to record a solid win. Re, Lauren and Shan certainly made hard work for their opponents, crea ng many intercepts and touches - well done. A ack again stepped up to the challenges presented and had some nice passages of play. Best players Kori (RSL) and Lauren (Shelton’s Butchers). A huge thank you for everyone's support and effort on the sideline and a er the match to make for a successful day, right from the young Lucy Egan (opps sorry - but thank you) to the more 'senior' mer.

It is also fantas c to see so many keen juniors wan ng to umpire the J2's. Please support this eagerness and be sure to thank them as they are the future of our great club both on the court and umpiring. We will hold a clinic in a few weeks to help boost their confidence a li le more. Also this week I would like to give a shout out to Kaitlin Roisse er who not only coaches the J2's, plays Under 15's, last week when we were struggling to find a umpire she offered to umpire the 13's to free up another umpire to cover a senior grade. Thanks Kaitlin - the club truly appreciates it. Junior 2: Well done girls, what an improvement since round 1. Every week you girls are listening and picking up new skills, which is showing on the court. Remembering to use our voices will benefit the game. There was some great passes and play in our game. We welcome two new players, Allira and Cadence to our Junior 2 team! You girls already have showed so much growth. Best player - Cadence Ingley for listening and giving her best into the game. Junior 1: Well done Saints on an excellent game. You all switched on from the 1st whistle. Was a great game to see your skills improving? Asha, Darcy, Izzy, Lucy, Keeley and Immy all played a great defensive game, once again switching up our posi ons. Big thank you to Leah and Zoe for filling in. You both slo ed in well ge ng many touches. Some great leads into space and intercepts down the court. Great talk in the goal circle and rebounding. Excellent game by all good team effort. Best player Lucy . 13 & Under: Not a great game. With having three players already play a fast physical game in 15s, we were slow and red in our game right from the start. Kalangadoo increased scoring opportuni es each quarter while decreasing ours. We had some posi ves and hopefully will regroup, learn and not play like this again. I enjoyed the efforts from Paige and CJ. Both listened and try their best to what was asked of them. Great effort. 17 & Under: Thanks to the girls that sat bench for us last week. This game saw us come up against another very strong side. Although we were missing one of our girls the team adapted well to this. The game started off a bit slow for us, but a er a few posi on swaps the girls
NETball club notes really got the feel of the game. The defensive pressure was amazing down the court and our defence took many intercepts in the circle and were combining really well. Our mid court had nice drive down the court and passes in to the circle were more accurate which was really good to see. Our shooters moved and combined well with each other and were communica ng with each other well which led to many scoring opportuni es for Nangwarry. Best were Tanisha and Skye. B Reserve: A well-played game considering how tough Kalangadoo are. I changed things up big me and even through the score didn't reflect it seemed to work a lot be er than it has over the last few weeks. Best players Amy Long, Tara Stewart. B Grade: Bad luck girls. We always knew it was going to be a tough game. If we could have played the whole game like we did in the second quarter, it would have been a different score line. Shannon ran out yet another full game at centre and did great! I don't know how you do it a er having so long off! Bel played a much be er game in defence, the prac ce of keeping your head up and eyes on the ball has paid off. Let's keep our team spirit up with lots of talk and posi vity on the court and our first win won't be far away. Best players Shannon Pearce, Bel Spink. A Reserve: We were unlucky girls a er leading for half the game our lack of fitness showed, but credit to all 8 players who took the court and gave it their all even when they had not much le to give. Once again we were hit with Covid and had to make some changes but lucky for us we have some very versa le players. Megs had a tough day in the office being double teamed for majority of the game but stood tall and held her own to convert chances into vital goals. Hayley Vanderhorst used her freedom well to make space and move the ball around the a ack line showing us all that being pa ent can work. Demi combined well in defence with her old pal Carly and they made Kdoo goalies work hard for their opportuni es in goals and even a er the change at hal ime with Hayley Burner coming on Demi stepped up her game listening to Hayley’s talk and ge ng many turnovers. Our first six games have all been close and this is because we have a team of girls who are very capable and able to contribute to a great team game. Thank you also to Montana and Emily who sit bench week in and week out without taking the court. Hopefully you are learning lots. A Grade: Fantas c game ladies. We have proved week in week out we have the poten al to play some great netball. We just need to put it into 4 full quarters and the scoreboard will start to get a lot closer. Ange and Tahlia shot extremely well crea ng space and working around the circle well with Hayley. Eb had a fantas c game in the C running the whole game against a tough opponent. Carly and Hayley V worked hard in defence trying to stop some quick accurate goalies. Tahlia did a good job trying to stop the drive onto the circle and pick off some intercepts down the court. We should be very pleased with our efforts and the score certainly doesn't show the efforts you girls put in. Best players Carly Ploenges and Hayley Burner.
Thanks to our major sponsors Laura & Vicki Hairdressing, South East Property Sales, Kimberly Clark Australia, Your Choice Conveyancing, Banner Mitre 10, J&M Shanks Pty Ltd, Sonya Francis Photography, All in Balance - Brad Tilley Tax and Business Advisory and Komma Media. A big thanks to the following - Anne Hughes, Raelene Wallis and Lisa Sco for doing the match report over the last couple weeks, your wonderful support is appreciated. Junior 2: The girls were given a shock as they played their first game in the rain. Through all the rain, soggy hair and cha ering teeth they put forward their best efforts and came through with a great team effort. They were able to persevere in the weather condi ons and played a good game of chase whenever the ball wasn't in possession. Con nue the great work girls! Junior 1: Well done girls. A very cold morning to be out on the court, but it was great to see everyone have a crack! The slippery courts limited some of our passages of play, which highlights our need to prac ce strong passes and coming in front. Some improvements can be seen in crea ng space when feeding the ball down the court, which opens up opportuni es for our goalies in the a acking third. Best player went to Wren (Subway), who got her hands to the ball mul ple mes in the defensive circle! 13 & Under: Bad luck girls, a much be er game from the week before. The wet and windy condi ons didn't help our game. We s ll need to work on ge ng in front to receive to the ball. Also we will be working on our space awareness on the court in coming to the ball and looking out for each other, so we aren't leading in the same areas. Hope you enjoyed the break and we will come out firing against Nangwarry today. Thanks to Monique for scoring, Zumrad for ming and Simone for umpiring. Awards went to Callie - Andy's Bakery and Becky - Acky's Deli. 15 & Under: With unfortunate weather condi ons we done the best we could. S ll need to work on a few things and really apply what we have been doing at trainings. We put in that 110% in the last quarter which was a good fight which we should've applied all game. The transi oning from defence down the court is looking great. Well done girls for the effort and not pu ng our heads down. Thank you Bec for umpiring, Amanda for scoring and Zali for ming. Award went to Tilly Gamble Ducky's. 17 & Under: We once again went into this game knowing it was going to be tough, especially in the wet condi ons. It was good to see how we are star ng to implement the things we've been working on at trainings to our game. S ll plenty to work on but the girls’ performance was a lot be er. Thanks to Mandy for umpiring, Kelly for scoring and Pina for ming. Award went to Maddie Gamble (Andy's Bakery).
B Reserve: Well done girls, a great win. Going into this game we knew it was going to be a tough game to win. Our combina on on court worked well even with me making lots of changes, a very versa le team we have. We played tough defence all over the court crea ng many turnovers. Fantas c defence from Bec, Georgia and Dawn, strong one on one defensive pressure was great to watch, which turned over many balls. Great driving down the court from Hannah and Mia, bring the ball out of defence strongly. Our shoo ng team of Karen, Amy and Faith worked well in the circle, and finishing off with precision shoo ng. Kelsi ran hard through the centre, crea ng lots of space and presen ng front to the ball, I especially like your passing into the circle along with support from Hannah. Keep working hard girls. Thanks to Wayne for scoring, Stacey for ming, Ameila being my support on the bench and Madi for umpiring. Award - Millicent Chemist and Gi s went to Bec. B Grade: In wet condi ons we came out strong, that did not last, this game was lost in the first quarter. We seemed to lose our grit and confidence. The next 3 quarters we dug deep, we had some beau ful passages of play and there was more backing each other up, it is obvious that we need to do some work on our fitness and our basic ball skills. Proud of you all for not dropping your heads and figh ng all the way to the end. Lilly hope you are feeling be er. Thanks to Trish for stepping in to team manager this week while Tracey is off on holidays. Thanks to Karen, Georgia and Dawn for scoring, ming and umpiring. Best players were Sally Mueller and Madi Bowering with the award going to Sally donated by Sassi. A Reserve: Great job girls, each week there is improvements in areas of the game which is great to see. Just need to be able to finish off and score those goals. Strong defence again by Kelly, Macca and Zoe. Our a ack line is moving a lot freer and lots more space for opportuni es to drive into. Enjoy the week off but don't forget to do some fitness of your own! Wishing Larissa a speedy recovery. Thank you to Shannon for scoring and Courts for ming. Award (Millicent Chemist) - Amelia. A Grade: Our first quarter was our highlight of the game where we played hard netball with great defensive pressure and we were able to score off our turnovers. The second quarter was where we lost our intensity and want for the ball and let Kalangadoo take control of the game. We fought hard in the second half of the game but were unable to make up for the damage that was done in the 2nd quarter. A super game by Madi domina ng the defensive end and Laura ran hard all game. Sassi award went to Madi Hagge . Thanks to Jus ne for scoring, Charlie for ming and Tanya for being primary carer. Big thanks to Sonya for some amazing pictures on our socials and thanks to Lily also.

NETball club notes Junior 2: Not the best day for netball down at Kongorong with super windy condi ons, but the girls s ll all had smiles on their faces and gave it their all. Some good passages of play from our older girls and special men on to Lexi in her first game who did an amazing job and slo ed into her posi ons perfectly. Awards went to Lexi for an excep onal first game effort and to Polly for always having a go at her posi ons. Junior 1: The girls did an amazing job against Kongorong even though the weather was very windy. They all tried their absolute best passing to each other to get the ball into the goal circle. The girls who had a go at shoo ng had a tough job, however they never gave up. I love how enthusias c they were this game, pu ng all they have learnt at trainings into the game. Defence was a highlight as everyone got loads of intercepts and put strong pressure over the ball. The girls are also star ng to lead to space on the court in a ack. Chiara and Isabella received the awards as I loved how much effort they put in all down the court in both defence and a ack, showing great improvement each week. 13 & Under: A very different game with a much closer final score, well done girls! We were a few regular players down, then had to contend with the wind. Unfortunately, we once again got off to a sluggish start in the first quarter. Remember each week it's really important to keep posi ve not ma er what, and everyone start every game focussed and ready to give it our all. Our defence worked relessly again to achieve lots of intercepts and turnovers, and in the second half we were able to have quite a number of a empts at goals, though the wind didn't wish to co-operate. Well done to Tamika and Isabel for their pa ence when shoo ng into the wind, it was a very difficult job. Thank you to Emie and Renee from J1 for filling in. Awards went to Jaycie (McDonalds) and Rachael (Wendy's). 15 & Under: Well to say it was windy is an understatement. I first want to say what a great job our goalies Demi, Isabel and Tamika did shoo ng. Unfortunately, Covid hit our team again and took out Lailah leaving us with 6. Thanks to our wonderful 13's who step up to fill in and sit bench each week. You all do an amazing job. Each week we are coming together as a team and I'm seeing improvement all over court. It was our best game yet and we won by playing 4 full quarters. Keep up the good work and you will all keep improving. Hopefully it was the first of a few more wins yet to come. Great game by Bethan Roberts who received the Ginos Award and Kaitlyn Thomas the KFC Award. 17 & Under: Some wild weather condi ons last weekend girls which meant we had to change it up a li le and work on our short and sharp game. Started off slow with some different combina ons to get used to but we were able to hold on the whole game to get a good win on the board. A whole team effort with all 9 of your contribu ng immensely. Charlo e, you are coming out and improving every week which earned you the Ducky's award. Jade had a ripper in the wind, driving hard and being an op on all down the court which earned her the
NETball club notes Dentons award. B Reserve: What a day, what a game. Has been a long me since any of us have played in winds that strong, it was an extremely hard game for both sides, learning to adjust to the condi ons. Kongorong were able to adjust a bit earlier than us but we came home strong in the end, unfortunately we le it a li le too late. Best players went to goalies Hijisa and Tarrah who never gave up (even when the balls weren't even hi ng the ring). B Grade: Girls, what a comeback! Every week you impress me with your tenacity and fight to win! We had a lot against us on Saturday, it was a shocking day to be a shooter and we were missing both of our GA's! Laylah, you did an amazing job stepping into goals for the first me and you absolutely kept us in the game in the first half. Our defenders played a great game on some strong, accurate shooters, implemen ng what we talked about at training. Ffion pulled in some crucial intercepts at important mes in the game. Alice and Leah fed the ball in well in tricky condi ons. Switching Bek and Laylah at half me paid off, outscoring Kongorong 21-10 in the second half. A solid game, let's work in star ng stronger this week so we don't have to fight back. Tant 26 - Kong 21. Best players: Laylah (Chelsea Feast), Ffion (Somerset). Well done to Ella stepping up for her first umpiring gig! Thank you to Chloe for si ng bench for us and super-sub Amy for coming on twice in the rain to cover shooters injuries! A Reserve: Our away game at Kongorong was a very windy day, added with extra wind so it definitely wasn't a great day for shooters. We didn't come away with a win but it definitely was one of the best games we have played in the last few weeks. Everyone worked hard for the ball and backed each other up. We all came forward which gave us a lot of passing op ons to manoeuvre the ball. Michelle, Ella and Chloe worked hard in defence. Ella and Chloe worked their lanes well giving more op ons for space and passing. Sally worked well at WA finding the space to help bring the ball down when needed and great passing into our goalies. Rachel and Amy worked so well together in the circle finding the spaces to pop out, just a bummer the wind wasn't allowing your goals to go in. Very proud of everyone's effort in this game, keep playing like that and back each other up and having fun then we can only get be er from here. Well done girls. Best: Rachel Bagshaw - Heaven on a Hanger, Chloe McCallum- Chelsea Feast make up. A Grade: What a great game under such difficult condi ons! A real team effort last week; both a acking and defensively we had to really back one another and really execute our quick, short game so well done ladies! Without Jami which is somewhat disrup ve, not only losing a core team member but also our coach; however Bella, what a fantas c game you had, you slipped into that GA/GS and were absolutely seamless so well done on an outstanding game! Let's get out to training and work hard so we can come out bigger and be er this week and keep up the W's! Well done girls.
Junior 1: Great game girls. It was wonderful to see those li le sneaky passing being used into and in the goal circle. Keep working on our court plays and using our space. Donut King award went to Lily for a great game, coming in front and shoo ng well. Wendy's award went to Emily for a great defensive game and good posi oning and moving well down the court. Hungry Jack’s award went to Daisee for another awesome game in a ack with lots of touches and great passing. Keep up the hard work girls. Junior 2: Another great game girls. The weather definitely wasn't on our side, and made it very hard for our passes to go where we wanted. It's great to see that all the girls get along, and it shows on the court. Keep up the good work girls. 13 & Under: A strong four quarters of netball was played working as a team in all quarters. We were ge ng in front of our players which is something we have been working hard on at training. Windy condi ons for the goalies but they managed going into for all rebounds and having another try! Hopefully this strong teamwork and encouragement of others can hang around all season as it's great to see! Best players: Lily Jacob - Bakers Delight, Ivy Wilson - Donut King. 15 & Under: Windy condi ons made shoo ng really hard. Our moving in front and passing improved which was great to see. A tough fought out game, which unfortunately we weren't on the winning side at the end. Donut King awards - great game from Sophie L running hard and ge ng heaps of touches. Lillie’s front cuts to the ring were spot on all game. 17 & Under: Once again, star ng the game with a new line up, which is something we have to learn to adapt to earlier than towards the end of the quarter. With that said, we did the best we could, and that is all we as coaches ask for. Going into the last quarter it was anyone’s game, Robe just had the want for the big W at the end of the game. We have not been in that posi on yet, and there is nothing wrong with it. It prepares us and challenges us to learn to keep our composure in cri cal situa ons like this. There were so many small wins for all of you on the day! Take the posi ves away and bring them back next week against Tant. Best players: Kate Winterfield and Lara Wilson. B Reserve: A great team game girls, we played with pa ence and came to the ball on a very windy day. Paige ran hard all day and helped keep the ball short. Winning the Victoria Hotel award. Ainsley moved to defence and got plenty of touches and combined well with Fee. Lara had another ripper game
in GA winning the Pick Ave Bakery award. Credit to Robe who fought hard all game. Keep working well girls and use our space. Wishing coach Jenny a speedy recovery. B Grade: In very windy condi ons it took us a while to adapt and se le. Our defence worked relessly, crea ng turnovers and rebounds. Our mid court combined well with lots of touches and intercepts down the court. The goalies worked extremely hard ba ling the wind but also followed through to rebound well. We made some posi onal changes and all adapted well to them. Your talking and backing up of each other was great which is what a team does! A big thank you to the girls on the bench who helped us out. You all did a great job - very much appreciated. Hope Dee you are on the mend. Awards: Rachel Johnston Fi h and Madison and Chemist King, Jess Grigg Victoria Hotel. A Reserve: In extremely windy weather condi ons, we didn't achieve the result we were hoping for. We took some big knocks where we had to adjust to stand tall and take the ball strongly. The “Sneath” girls in defence ba led hard all day, with Kristy having an impressive performance for her first gig in at GD for the side. Sarah provided plenty of drive out of defence while Isabella and Montanna con nued to grow their connec on in bringing the ball into a ack. Great body strength from Keyarnah and Cody - it wasn't easy to score with such winds. You girls stood tall in what was a very physical goal circle. We must find within ourselves that when the chips are down, what it is that gives us the fire in our bellies to finish the game strong, despite the score line. S ll lots of wrinkles to iron out, but we'll con nue to work on those. We wish Cody a speedy recovery and hope to see you back amongst our team soon. Thank you again to our 2 wonderful juniors on Kate and Arriella, who con nue to sit our bench each week. Best players: Kristy Sneath and Keyarnah Smith. A Grade: Awesome game girls, the weather condi ons really made it hard but we keep figh ng right to the end. Our defence pressure all over court was awesome with everyone pu ng in the extra effort to chase loose balls. It’s great to see we are star ng to se le and play as a team and we didn't let the pressure get to us. Best went to Brooke Williams who played C for the first me and ran all game and to Toni Gilmore for great moving and a accuracy within the goal circle. Best players: Brooke Williams (Victoria Hotel) and Toni Gilmore (Chemist King).

NETball club notes Junior 2: A er ge ng off to a slow start we were able to apply lots of pressure over the ball to create lots of shoo ng opportuni es for our goalies. Poppy and Myla combined well together in the goal circle. Georgie, Maggie and Violet had hands over every ball making it difficult for their opponents. Kaia and Charlo e provided plenty of drive down the centre of court and fed well into the goalies while Emma passed with precision to the mid-courters. Great listening girls, you were able to apply everything we talked about during the break mes. Awards: Charlo e Chambers (Java Cafe), Georgina Hassell and Myla Bowman (McDonalds). Junior 1: The first quarter saw the li le Eagles off to a great start with plenty of strong defensive turnovers. Capitalising on these turnovers with steady shoo ng from Tilly and great dodging and movement from Paige. Moving onto the second quarter saw great court play and calmness ge ng the ball in to the circle with Hazel backing up on the transverse line and Mollie balancing the court in the centre. Leyla kept up the defensive pressure taking mul ple clean intercepts. Third quarter had Alirah going into centre and the challenge wasn't just calling for the ball but adding direc on and she hit the goal well. Arabella backed her up well with good balance around the circle and confidence on a taller player (even with a sore wrist). The final quarter was a strong finish from the li le Eagles with Kirby shoo ng confidently and Livvi having complete control in the whole defensive line. Great teamwork with lots of talk made the game work well, you should all be proud of what you did girls. Thank you, Heidi, for primary carer and all the best to Helen to be back on-board this week. Awards: Mollie O'Connor (Toy Kingdom), Arabella Hassell (McDonalds), Alirah Bowman (HLC). 13 & Under: Unfortunately, we were our own worst enemy. We made a lot of errors and didn't gel consistently as a team. Defensively all over the court we worked relessly, up on our toes, making it tricky for our opponents. We had some good passages of play in our a ack line but need to work on leading strongly, find the front posi on and passing to our teammates. Awards: Luca Hamilton (HLC), Meeka Hales (Denton Sportspower). 15 & Under: We got off to a slow start and it showed on the scoreboard, being down at the first break. A li le reminder about things we needed to do seemed to wake everyone up and we were able to get to the front and build on that lead over the next 3 quarters. Deni had a super game ge ng plenty of intercepts and ps, Niah was her usual reliable self either in goals or defence. Kalli took a pounding and just kept bouncing back up in what was a super strong performance. Everyone picked up their game a er quarter me and had some great passages of play. We hope Hailey's ankle is ok and she is back on court soon. Thanks, Poppy, for helping out once again. Awards: Deni Brown (Dentons Sportspower), Ayrlie Chambers & Kalli Ne le (HLC). 17 & Under: The best start to a game we've had all season. We started off strong and came out figh ng. Unfortunately, the fight did not maintain throughout a consistent four quarters. Indi and Niah worked well together, being reliable and pa ent for effec ve scoring opportuni es. Demi and Deni had some great leads down the court. Halle had a great game, really star ng to find her groove on the court. Our defence of Imogen and Elly were able to create many turnovers and got their hands to countless intercepts. Elly stepped up and provided strength in both defence and goals and was very accurate. We definitely have a lot to s ll work on, consistency and selfdrive needs to be maintained through all four quarters. Thank you to our 15&U girls for si ng bench. Awards: Elly Redden (Ducky's Surf), Niah Faulkner (HLC). B Reserve: Wasn't the result we were
NETball club notes looking for, Glencoe's hunger for the win was a lot more evident than ours. We didn't play four quarters of consistent netball, although we did have some good passages of play, we did overcrowd and played behind we were missing that drive that we have been working on. We have a lot of work in the upcoming weeks, we just need to regroup and remain posi ve. Lucy Bell dominated in GK with countless amounts of rebounds and intercep ons, unfortunately once brought down for one reason or another we struggled to score but to the girl's credit they con nued to give it there all. Wishing Jo a speedy recovery with her heel and hoping Jess hasn't hurt her calf to badly. Thank you to Sophie Gibbs for si ng bench and Anneke for scoring. Thank you again girls for my beau ful flowers. Awards: Lucy Bell (Somerset Hotel), Staci Faulkner (Alternate Life) Sally Bateman (Kelsey Wight Fitness). B Grade: We had a tough task taking on the top team - Glencoe. We had a great training Thursday night with great intensity and we brought that intensity on the court. We had three players out last week, but it didn't bother me as our versa lity shows we s ll had a super strong line up. We started the first with some great plays and intercepts, but we were rever ng back to the old way and overcrowding. The defence were doing a good job but we swapped the defence around in the second and Georgia showed who's boss in the circle! Lucy Chant played the first half for us and she slo ed in like shed been playing all year with us. We won the 2nd quarter to be only 1 down at half me. A few more posi onal changes with Jas coming into C and Soph going back into the defensive circle. The third quarter was our premiership quarter going up by 4 with both goalies working well together and Hayley finding Charlie on many occasions! Nat was feeding well and working hard to keep the space open with Jas. Jas showed some great voice wen we needed it and was rock solid in a ack and defence. Ella was crea ng plenty of drive into a ack and making her WA work for every ball. Sophie and Georgia were outstanding in the defensive end giving the team many opportuni es to score. A great team game and an awesome win which I hope shows the tea what we are capable of. Thanks to Ellie and Paris for scoring and PC and Sarah for si ng bench. Awards: Georgia Gray (Somerset Hotel), Charlie Muhovics (Alternate Life), Sophie Gibbs (Demi Rose Hairdressing). A Reserve: We knew that coming into this game that it was going to be very physical, but the girls stood up to the challenge. Olivia was strong at GS, shoo ng and rebounding. There was lots of pressure all over the court which allowed us to get our hands to the ball. We need to remember to score on turnovers and not rush down the court. The first half our a ack were moving and feeding well with plenty of give and goes and re-offering. Some great passages of play in the last half. Millie ge ng her hands to numerous intercepts and Georgia driving into a ack, but our fitness/a tude lacked in the last and Glencoe ran away with a 6-goal win. Awards: Sarah Broadhead (Somerset Hotel), Millie Smith (Demi Rose Hairdressing), Olivia Sla ery (Alternate Life). A Grade: We welcomed Maddie P back for what we knew was going to be a tough contest and although lacking a bit of fitness her strength and presence was felt immediately. Maddie R had a ripper of game in goals shoo ng beau fully. Demi had a blinder in defence and seemed to be a real ball magnet. Erin played her best game for the season taking intercepts and being smart on the re-offer and drive. Another out of the box combina on that just seemed to work for us. Well done to all the girls for your support and 100% efforts in what is a very unusual season. Thanks to Grace for scoring and Abs for primary caring. Awards: Demi Vanderhorst (Somerset Hotel), Erin Watson (Beachport Hotel).
Junior 2: The juniors started strong against Tantanoola. Leading out the front and ge ng around Tantanoola's tall defence. Few goals were scored despite the wind but great prac ce with rebounding the ones that blew away. Best players went to Allara (Crave Dessert Bar) for her outstanding leading and performance, Willow (Kongorong Canteen voucher) for her defence and eye on the ball and Mackenna (Boost Juice) for ge ng some great intercep on and leads. Junior 1: This group of young Hawks are really star ng to se le in the posi ons and find their feet. By the third quarter there was no loose balls on the court with great chases and possessions. Sophie (Crave Dessert Bar) was excep onal and her intercep ons, rebounds and top defence shown in every quarter which got her in the best player. Belle ($5 Award) and Havvi (Kongorong canteen voucher) should out with their endless efforts, great leads and intercep ons which also got them in the best players. Well done to all the girls, it's really good watching your netball skills improve each week. 13 & Under: Congratula ons girls on your first win for the season, I’m so proud of you all. Rani and Imogen worked well together in the circle under the windy condi ons. Training has paid off and you all listened working the ball down the centre court with minimal stepping, Lacey, Paige, Jacquelyn, and Harmoni managed to get in front and bring the ball down. Great defence and rebounds came from Taliah and Molly pu ng the pressure on all game. You have all listened and put in prac ce what we learned at training so best players goes to the whole team! Congratula ons girls. 15 & Under: What an awesome game of netball to watch, with everyone giving their all for 4 quarters, well done girls. Thank you to Rahni, Imogen and Jacquelyn for filling in for us. Awards: Boost Juice – Hayley and Kongorong canteen voucher Holly. 17 & Under: Not the score we were hoping for but due to injury we were a bit undermanned and unfortunately lost it by 6 goals. The girls played a great game and put in a lot of effort but we need to fix the li le things as we kept losing the ball for ourselves. Best players: Evie Sealey - The Springs
Crea ve and Crave, Kate Wright Lima and Co. B Reserve: Another close game girls. The wind was certainly making it hard to get goals and this was reflected in the low scoring. We were down a few players so Paige stepped up from U17 to play a great half through the centre. Courtney Sealey also filled in and was able to get a few goals in the very windy condi ons. Tamika and Courtney Hardacre played well again in defence and were able to turn the ball over on numerous occasions. Elly and Alex are ge ng used to playing together in goals. Alisha started in C and then played well on the wing moving the ball to where it needed to go. Nat played a great game in WA/WD and was able to get some turnarounds to get the ball back down our end. You can see that what we are prac sing during the week, you are pu ng into play on the weekends. Thanks to Taylah for si ng bench for us as well. Awards: Alex - Arena, Tamika Lima & Co. B Grade: Well done to everyone in our team! A very wild, windy day, this made it hard to get the ball through the ring. Brooke stepped into the GA posi on and took it in her stride. Solid defence all game by Maddie, Billie J and Taylah. Great ge ng in front and keeping short from Scout and Milla in the mid court. Very proud of the growth every week from our team! Look out Tant, we will get ya next me ;) 1st best Taylah Finnigan (Fasta Pasta) and 2nd Brooke Holmes (Chemist King). A Reserve: We were lucky not to get blown away! A four quarter grind that saw us adjust our game quarter to quarter with the condi ons. Defence worked hard and found their rhythm to get some great turnovers and rebounds which the a ack were able to reward them. On to this week with a li le less wind. Best players: Kaylah (Evolve) and Kayla (Arena). A Grade: Bad luck girls, we again had passages of play that were absolutely fantas c but we can't afford to let teams get runs on us. We are again pushing for 4 consistent quarters of netball to break through for that next win but I can't fault anyone's effort throughout the game with everyone bus ng their absolute guts. Best went to Kate Wright (The Springs Crea ve) and Evie Sealey (Birdie Blue).
ROUND 6 A GRADE NETBALL REVIEW Glencoe 39 lost to Hatherleigh 43 Glencoe started the game strongly, ne ng four goals before Hatherleigh were able to hit the scoreboard. The momentum turned quickly with Hatherleigh's Demi Vanderhorst ge ng plenty of hand to ball, enabling reentry into the Eagles' goal circle. The Murphies entered the first break trailing by three goals. In the second quarter Glencoe's new look goal circle of Jenna Paproth and Laura Edwards u lised the front space to reduce the impact of Hatherleigh's Vanderhorst. The Eagles' Tegan Telfer found her feet with plenty of easy access to the circle edge. Hatherleigh increased their lead to five at half me. The Eagles came out of the main break with a point to prove. The space game of Vanderhorst and Lara McGregor forced Glencoe into error, helping their team to a ten goal lead midway through the quarter. A strong rebound from Chloe Pfitzner ignited a run on effect of intercept ball for the Glencoe defenders, keeping the gap to six at the final break. Glencoe came out contes ng every pass in a scrappy final term. Hatherleigh's Maddie Redman stepped up for the Eagles, holding strongly and scoring the en rety of their twenty second-half goals. Sarah Edwards took some mely floa ng intercepts in the centre third but the lock down pressure of the Hatherleigh defence made it hard for Murphies to convert. The Eagles shooters had some late under the post shots, making it difficult for Glencoe to build any pressure in their defensive third. Despite winning the term by two goals me ran out for Glencoe with the Eagles running away with a four goal win. Best players - Glencoe: Laura Edwards and Jenna Paproth; Hatherleigh: Demi Vanderhorst and Erin Watson.
Kalangadoo 63 def Nangwarry 24 Kalangadoo started strong with the defensive combina on of Reanna Wetherall, Lauren Kain and Shanen Pulkkinen working relentlessly in the circle to provide plenty of scoring opportuni es for Kalangadoo, as they went into the first quarter break with a lead 13 to 5. Both teams remained unchanged during the second quarter. Kalangadoo's goalie combina on of Kori Collins and Abbey Duncan combined well to find space with ght physical pressure from Nangwarry's Carly Ploenges and Hayley Vanderhorst. Wing A ack Hayley Burner worked hard for Nangwarry, feeding her goalies Ange Pra and Tahlia Wilson accurately. Kalangadoo went into the main break 29 to Nangwarry's 12. At half me both teams made a couple of changes including Nangwarry switching Hayley Vanderhorst to Goal Shooter and Tahlia Wilson into Goal A ack while Kalangadoo switched Reanna Wetherall to Wing Defence and Shanen Pulkkinen to Goal Keeper. Tahlia Wilson relished the move out to Goal A ack, where she found space and rewarded her team's hard work accurately. Kalangadoo's Kori Collins used her speed to her advantage and made tough work for
Nangwarry's defence combina on of Tahlia Puckridge and Carly Ploenges. The final quarter saw Kalangadoo increase their intensity with Wing A ack Sophie Wrightson finding space and driving to the goal circle. Kalangadoo were able to convincingly run the game out strongly to finish 63 goals to Nangwarry 24. Best players - Kalangadoo: Kori Collins and Lauren Kain; Nangwarry: Carly Ploenges and Hayley Burner.
Kongorong 28 lost to Tantanoola 51 Round 6 at Kongorong saw some of the poorest condi ons so far this season with the wind not holding back from the first whistle. The first quarter of the game saw both the Tigers and the Hawks go hard at the ball in windy condi ons and both teams took me to se le. Evie Sealey for the Hawks was on from the second the first whistle blew, working hard with the front cut and making the most under of the ball under the post. The Tigers se led earlier than the young Hawks though with the a ack like of Tantanoola ge ng a good look at the ball themselves, giving them a 3 goal lead heading into the first break. The second quarter saw the wind not backing off, with the defensive lineups for both teams having a real good crack across the court. Bella Poulish for the Tigers and Riley Buckingham for the Hawks ba led hard in the circle, both at mes being influen al for their respec ve sides through the second term. The Tigers shooters had a dominant quarter in par cular with Poulish dominant in GA shoo ng 10 from 13 for the quarter fed well by Casey Walker and Madi Kelly who made their presence known in the second term. Tantanoola pushed their lead out by 11 at half me with the Tigers 22 to Kongorong 11. The Hawks went into the third quarter with work to do, with defensive pressure li ed all over for Kongorong, not giving the Tigers any easy ball. Kate Wright in WA worked over me for the Hawks both on the offensive and defensive while Kate Bromley also on the line in GD for the Tigers applied pressure and lead Tantanoola's defensive line to give her team a li . This quarter also seen Emma Gould out for a run at GA while Walker found another gear in the third term, leading the Tigers to outscore the Hawks 18 to 9 as they worked the ball down the court fast and with accuracy. Both teams con nued to fight hard defensively up either end as the windy condi ons didn't ease up. Bromley con nued down the defensive end for the Tigers working over me for her side whilst Buckingham and Poulish both didn't ease up pace in a thrilling contest down the court but it was the Tigers that could get it done in the windy condi ons and pick themselves up the win. Final score Tantanoola 51 - 28 Kongorong. Best players - Kongorong: Kate Wright and Evie Sealey; Tantanoola: Bella Poulish and Emma Gould.
Port MacDonnell 27 def Robe 25 Port MacDonnell's first home game of the
season saw windy condi ons that both seasider teams are familiar with. Top of the table Robe came out firing with some early turnovers, figh ng to keep their spot on the top of the ladder. In the absence of the Demon's Liza Mutch, Brooke Williams took to the centre and had a great tussle with Robe's Annie Hunter. The windy condi ons troubled Port Mac goalies Kirby Carrison and Toni Gilmore, however their great rebounding allowed the Demons to maintain possession. Rooster's Lucy Perkins showed excellent passing into the circle which supported goalies Sarah Laurie and Tori Gluyas. Robe's fast and smooth transi on across the court held them in front by 2 at the end of the first quarter. The second term saw the Bay's new defensive combina on of Alana Winter and Belinda O'Dine work relessly to limit Laurie and Gluyas' opportuni es in the circle. The ba le between Williams and Hunter was certainly one to watch as they con nued to be focal points for their teams. Despite Robe's defence taking advantage of all rebound opportuni es, Gilmore's shoo ng accuracy and support from playing coach Narelle Lewis on the ring created minimal opportuni es for Robe's defence. Port MacDonnell gained crucial turnovers which resulted in a 5 goal lead at half me The beginning of the second half saw the Demon's new recruit Katelin Liebelt takeover from Jess Lynch in the WD posi on. Liebelt worked hard to fill Lynch's shoes and impress in her first game for the Bay. Robe's Gluyas moved back to GS and gave Halle Carter the GA bib. Robe's goalies combined well with Gluyas doing most of the shoo ng, but the Demon's defence certainly didn't make it easy for them. Gilmore was apprehensive to shoot with the condi ons in mind, which resulted in a few easy turnovers for the Roosters. But when the experienced goalie was in posi on to shoot, she didn't miss many at all. Robe's Ellen Ramke came back into WD a er a quarter off with fresh legs to try to put pressure on the Bay's Lewis. In the last 5 minutes of the quarter, Robe defender Georgia Perkins le the court injured which put coach Kim Aus n into the GK posi on. The Bay took advantage of the change and got a few easy goals, holding a 6 goal lead at three quarter me. Robe came out hungry for turnovers in the final quarter, figh ng to keep their spot at the top of the ladder. Despite the immense pressure on the Bay, Winter was unphased and kept Gluyas scoreless for the quarter. Robe's defence were fierce and ght and kept the Bay to 1 goal for the quarter. Robe gained many turnovers however they didn't treasure them, and the ball went straight back to the Bay's possession. A late cau on for Gluyas and advance of play gave the Bay the confidence they needed to get through the game, resul ng in Robe's first loss for the season. Best players - Port Mac: Brooke Williams and Toni Gilmore; Robe: Lucy Perkins and Ellen Ramke.
