If some of these names do return, South will finally strive closer to resembling a full-strength team
F.L. We s t G a m b i e r v Millicent West Gambier is yet to win at home in the 2022 Bendigo Bank Western Border Football League and it must pull off something special to break the hoodoo this weekend. Rampant ladder leader Millicent is heading to Malseed Park and an even stronger squad than the one which disposed of South and Casterton could arrive. The Saints will be boosted by the return of Hamish Nitschke, who is desperate for some game time after a long 12 months since a knee reconstruction, while some young guns could also be coming down from Glenelg. These names will only enhance a team that is on a competition-high six-game winning streak. The Roos will have their work cut out trying to contain a Millicent team, which recorded 38 scoring shots on a windy round 3 contest at McLaughlin Park. Tom Nieuwerkerk has not stopped putting his head down in recent weeks and his teammates will try to slow down Millicent captain Jacob Carger, who has taken charge in the continual absence of coach Clint Gallio and star Tom Hutchesson. With wet conditions forecast West might try to amp up the tackling pressure to knock around the young Saints and give its clean ball users such as Lawry Bradley-Brown and Jordan Williams maximum opportunity to make an impact. Finn Grimes and Daron McElroy should have a good battle in the ruck which could have a big say on how close the game is on the scoreboard. Millicent is the overwhelming favourite, but the Roos would like to think they can replicate Casterton Sandford’s effort and take the game to the ladder leaders.

Last week saw us host the old arch enemy in North, unfortunately we could not t a ke t h e p o i n t s o n t h i s occasion and in the seniors it was a case of not taking their chances early and as they say poor kicking is poor footy. As a footballer growing up thru the 1970 and 1980`s it is d i s h e a r te n i n g to s e e n o football being played in the streets by the kids of today, that was what we lived for and we would rush home from school to have a kick with our mates. I know times have changed and we are a time poor society but the lack of skill is hurting the standard of football going forward. I counted up to 30 times that both sides dropped chest marks on Saturday with no pressure on them at all and this caused turnovers galore. Some would say climate change has affected footy as the seasons are not as wet and players are told to take the ball in their hands thus the skill in chest marks has dropped.

This week we host Millicent which I am sure it will be an entertaining game and you never know if we play to our best we can take home the points. S a t u rd ay n i g h t s e e s t h e “grooving roo “night, monies for the 500 club are due so get your tickets now and nomination for the Malseed cup are being accepted as well.
Congratulations to Tallan Dunn on making his Senior debut. Snow started on the bench and got some effective early touches when he came on a c ro s s h a l f fo r wa rd . I t ' s pleasing to see a depth of junior players that can take the step up to that level and cover shortages week on week. Cargs dominated across the four quarters with more than a m p l e s u p p o r t f ro m t h e backline and runners through the midfield. A comfortable lead halfway through the game was slowly clawed back in the latter stages and it was good to finish the game with a win.
The Reserves had a comfortable 8 goal win, with 4 to Digga and 2 to Alex Wesolowski, which shows the diversity in age and experience in the team on the park. With plenty of players unavailable, thanks to the under-age players who played 2 games and contributed to the timely win. The U16’s won in a close one with Ashton Lindner the only multiple goal kicker with 2 as
Millicent Red, Black & White well as being named best player. Other better players were William Wilson, Jett Werchon, Charlie Damhuis and Zach Ash. Big thanks to Alex, Jackson and Charlie who all backed up in the Ressies. T h e U 1 4 ’s m a n a g e d a comfortable win with Cash Kenny and Cruz Gibson both kicking 2. In the best were Lenny Tunkin, Sam Gronn, Teej Lawlor, Max Hunt, Alannah Pratt and Liam Cawood. Only the 12C’s on the back oval last weekend. The boys and girls in this age group are improving each week and although low in numbers there is plenty of talent there to give more than an even contest to their opposition each week. With a few more kids showing some interest after playing Gala Day last Sunday, hopefully we can bolster our numbers a little for the second half of the season. Preparation’s for Race Night on June the 4th are well underway, so keep an eye out for further details.

U14s must of had a late night because they didn't start well against the league leaders but in the second half the coaches must of gave them a rev up because the boys played some of the best footy for the year. MATCH REPORTS MILLICENT V CASTERTON SANDFORD Millicent secured the premiership points as expected at the weekend when they hosted Casterton Sandford and while the Cats s ll suffered from a lack of scoring opportuni es, courtesy to the relentless defensive pressure from the Saints, the accuracy from the Cats shoo ng stocks was much improved. The match also saw the debut of Ivy Lane in the second half in goals and while her opportuni es to score were rare, she finished with six from nine in a promising A Grade debut. Madalene Cleary was again the mainstay of the a acking line and at goal a ack she set up the play and finished accurately, while at the other end, Caeleigh Humphries con nues to anchor the defence, ge ng important touches to disrupt the always slick Saints frontline. The visitors nkered with their mid court this weekend, trying to find the best roles for Tessa Marra, Ebany Jarrad and Gaby Tomkins, with Marra spending the second half back on the defensive wing where she has been so consistent and damaging in her debut season as a Cat, The interes ng things from the weekend’s scoresheet for Millicent was the more shared s h o o n g re s p o n s i b i l i e s o f Ta b at h a Sanderson and Demi Verbena. The height of Sanderson so o en sees her domina ng the scoring a empts and she certainly again ne ed her fair share, but Verbena took a lot more shots and her 25 from 30 was a high return and an accurate one. Georgia Clarke played her first full game in the centre and influenced the match at both ends of the court, while the young back three of Por a McRae, Hannah Nitschke and Kayleigh Taylor denied the Cats me and space at every opportunity and created plenty of turnover ball. EAST GAMBIER V SOUTH GAMBIER It was a goal for goal contest in round two and it followed the same script at the weekend when East and South went head to head.
A low scoring contest compared with the other two matches of the round, every goal was hard earned as both teams applied relentless defensive pressure all over the court, crea ng turnovers and forcing teams into error with ball in hand. Missing Sarah Lock, with that troublesome calf, the Bulldogs slo ed Casey Horrigan into the goal a ack role and in the opening quarter the combina on of Horrigan and Amryn Bosko looked composed, ne ng 12 from 17, to enjoy a two goal quarter me lead. The arm wrestle con nued in the second with Bosko looming as a scoring threat with nine from 11, while the South shoo ng duo of Alyssa Duncan and Lara Munro were making every post a winner, ne ng 13 from 15 as a combina on as the half me lead sat at one for the home side. The Demons tweaked their mid court at the main break, bringing on the fresh legs of Ruby Richter to try and quell the influence of Tarsh McCallum, who was showing her skill in working in small spaces, u lising her speed to find good feeding posi on and deliver accurately to Bosko, while Imogen Walker and Mega Reid swapped bibs, tag teaming the job of denying star Bulldog centre Emily Hunter too much ball. It proved a masterstroke and with Munro ne ng nine from nine and Duncan five from six, the Demons ensured their dominance for the quarter, courtesy of some wonderful defensive gains by Grace Edwards and Ellie Bouchier, was reflected on the scoreboard and they enjoyed a five goal three quafrter me lead. The frene c final quarter saw plenty of errors and turnover ball and the shoo ng accuracy, par cularly for the Bulldogs, dropped away, but unlike in round two when South coughed up a lead and East was able to take the points, this me they held on for a 45-39 victory. Edwards and Bouchier dominated the rebounding stats and were able to keep winning the ball back for the Demons, especially in the dying minutes of the match, while Bo Creek never stopped finding a way to
DENTON’S
disrupt the Demons frontline with her aerial skills and willingness to just get a touch and chase up the loose ball. WEST GAMBIER V NORTH GAMBIER It loomed as an arm wrestle and for the most part it was as North Gambier travelled to Malseed Park to try and put a dent in the Roos 2022 campaign. It was expected to be a ba le of the goaling combina ons and the ability of each team to deny the star shoo ng duos too much ball and that was exactly how it panned out. North enjoyed a two goal quarter me lead, West made it a five goal buffer at the half and at three quarter me that had been reduced to two. Enter the Roos defensive line, with Amy Cram and Jade Ri er crea ng plenty of turnover ball and the en re West team making ball movement difficult for the Tigers and limi ng their scoring opportuni es significantly, while s ll maintaining their own level of scoring, and in the end they won that final quarter by 10 and took the points with a 71-59 victory. As expected, Sarah Ri er and Caroline Wakefield were the focal points – Ri er ne ng 49 from 62, with Wakefield conver ng 39 from 43. Both goal a acks were also important, with their ability to making space and deliver the ball to their shoo ng partners, while also taking the shots on offer and finishing so not surprisingly Lisa McGregor and Macey Griffith were both in their respec ve side’s best. In the end, the match came down to that dominant final quarter by the Roos where they generated 26 scoring shots to 10 and were able to run away with the win a er a ght three quarters. Ri er con nues to be thorn in opposi on team’s side and North tried both Zahra Crough-Heaton and Lauran Norman on her over the course of the match to try and find a way of limi ng her influence.
ROUND PREVIEWS SOUTH GAMBIER V NORTH GAMBIER South Gambier had a breakthrough victory over North Gambier on ANZAC Day and the Demons know the Tigers will be out for retribu on. The Demons enter the clash buoyed by another drought breaking victory over East Gambier, their first in seven seasons, and while they know they will need to be careful with ball in hand, it will be as much about the defensive effort all over the court. If the North feeders, Brianna Walters and Ash Kalantarian, are not put under pressure, they will deliver plenty of ball to Macey Griffith and Caroline Wakefield, the star Tigers shooter easily the most accurate finisher in the compe on to date. The job of working the mid court over me will fall with Megan Reid, Ruby Richter and Tully McShane, with all three coming off solid round seven performances. The North defensive line of Zahra CroughHeaton and Mel Renko is star ng to develop that all important chemistry, so South goalers Alyssa Duncan and Lara Munro will need to work over me to find space and finish with the accuracy they showed last weekend. It looms as another arm wrestle and it will be the team that limits their errors and looks a er the ball that takes the point. Their round three clash was a quality affair but there is no doubt both sides would be looking to produce less errors, both forced and unforced, as they look to try and shore up a top four finish. WEST GAMBIER V MILLICENT The top of the table clash didn't disappoint in round three and it looms as another nailbiter this weekend when West Gambier hosts Millicent.
The Roos were in control for much of that contest before going down to the Saints in a final quarter fade out so they will be hoping they show more of the form from last weekend when they dominated the final quarter against North Gambier to take the win. Both sides will be looking for ways to deny the star shoo ng duos from enjoying too many scoring opportuni es and that will require relentless defensive pressure from the mid court as well as circle defenders. Sarah Ri er is in outstanding form – not just the amount of shots she is genera ng but the accuracy of her finishing and her ba le with Por a McRae will be pivotal. At the other end Jade Ri er will be looking to make life tough for Tabatha Sanderson, who has become a strong holding op on at the post. The increased output from Demi Verbena at the weekend will not have been lost on the Roos and they will be all too aware of her ability to convert from long range. Verbena of course will need to shake off the persistence defence of Amy Cram, with the Roos goal defender con nuing to play career best netball over the past couple of seasons. The other goal a ack-goal defence ba le will also be match shaping as Hannah Nitschke looks to limit the influence of Lisa McGregor, who is the key link player in the young West frontline. Tara Bryant is part of that young mid court and the Saints will need to put some work into her because le unchecked her speed and strong drives will be damaging in ge ng the ball into the hands of McGregor and Ri er. In the round three clash, Millicent just found a way but it might be the Roos' turn to take the premiership points.
CASTERTON SANDFORD V EAST GAMBIER The Cats are hos ng the Bulldogs, who are coming off a disappoin ng loss to South Gambier, and much will centre on the fitness of East goal a ack Sarah Lock. Like many teams this year, the reigning premiers have not been able to get their preferred star ng line-up onto the court and as the halfway point of the season approaches, the Bulldogs know it is me to start finding some consistency. If Lock has recovered from her calf strain and can team up with Amryn Bosko, it looms as an intriguing ba le with the new look Cats defence line of Caeleigh Humphries and Charlo e Rice. The Cats also have the luxury of Ebany Jarrad to slip into the defensive circle as well if required, while the ba les in the mid court also loom large. The East mid court is the only surviving combina on from their premiership lineup with the speed and smarts of Tarsh M c C a l l u m , t h e h a rd r u n n i n g a n d athle cism of Emily Hunter and the ght checking and intercept ability of Tyne Bosko, so the likes of Tess Marra, who has been outstanding on the defensive wing, Scarle Jarrad, Makayla Hutchins, Chloe Foster and Gaby Tomkins will need to pay as much a en on to their defensive efforts as they do delivering the ball into the shoo ng circle. Madalene Cleary con nues to be the shining light in the Cats goal circle, teaming with Foster the past few weeks, and she will need to lead the young Cats a ack line so they can find a way through the tough defence of Bo Creek and Morgan Amy, who are both as strong on the ground as they are in the air. East Gambier should bounce back and need to, if they want to con nue to push for a finals berth.

Also need to mention Leyna Bruggemann – the shooting machine, that not only scored 22 goals in one quarter but scored more than 50 goals for the match (well the three From the long range shooting quarters she played!!!) and at a of Holly Wilson, to the clever high accuracy rate. moves from Maya Clarke, from the defensive pressure of Lucy The 15 & Under A girls also Dening, who kept winning the picked up a hard fought, come ball back when East threatened from behind victory, with to score, and Kadie Attiwill, Maddison Harrold continuing who also got her hands to to impress every week, along some important balls as the with the rest of her team mates girls set up an early lead and – Gracie, Sienna, Bree, Sofie, held on valiantly. Lily, Charlotte, Kasey & Charlie. Perfect conditions on Saturday and a perfect result for Larnka Foran and her 13 & Under B girls – picking up their first win for the season.
In the mid court, Elsie Merchant just ran hard all day, Lucy Noonan made great decisions with ball in hand and defended well and Ruby Loring was really important in transition and, of course, there was the super coach. Larnka’s enthusiasm and positivity is contagious and she has worked so hard with this group so to see that improvement on the scoreboard as well was reward for everyone’s effort. Of course the win by the A Grade was also huge, as they sit inside the top four as of round seven. It was similar to the round two clash – it was goal for goal with t h e g i r l s h av i n g a s m a l l advantage at three quarter time but this time they worked hard and held on and didn’t let the reigning premiers run over the top of them. Grace and Ellie were huge all game but especially in the frenetic final minutes, while M e g a n , Tu l l y a n d R u b y continue to grow as a mid court a n d L a ra a n d A l ys s a a re looming as a tough shooting combination – oh, and it didn’t hurt to have Imi on court for this one with her experience and toughness and her second half battle with Emily Hunter was one of the highlights of the match.
Thanks again to all the volunteers who continue to pick up extra jobs as COVID still seems to attack us as each weekend approaches.
North Gambier
Under 11’s North 2 vs West 20 Girls had a great start to the game but passing in the second half was our biggest down fall again. We had excellent defense and girls Indi and Isla really stepped up. Addie also played a great last 2 quarters. Despite our great defense we couldn’t get it into our attack line. We Improved a lot since last time which is important to keep doing. Best players: Indi Renko (sponsored by Treehouse) and Isla Brook (sponsored by Squashbrook)
Under 13A’s North 22 vs West 25 Everything went reasonably well and we stuck to our game plan until the last 8 minutes of the game. Then we lost 3 crucial centre passes and West used that to their advantage. We lost our rhythm and panicked. We didn't have time to compose o u rs e l v e s a n d t h e g i r l s w e r e v e r y disappointed after the game. This game taught us 2 crucial lessons. Firstly, we need to play for the full duration of the game up to the very end despite feeling tired. Secondly, the team need all 7 players to play to their full potential all the time. Best players: Raine D and Mia Griffith Under 13B’s North 22 vs West 23 Our girls played excellent netball this weekend and it was a great team effort by everyone from GS to GK. There was good defensive pressure and turnovers which we capitalised on. Our passes was accurate and the girls moved the ball with precision down to the court to our goalies. Accurate shooting by Carey Grivell and Jenna Baron kept the scoreboard ticking. Although we lost this game by one point, it was an excellent performance by our girls. Indeed, a game to build our confidence wit as we are going forward. Best players: Ava Halloran (sponsored by Halloran Diesel) and Tayah Jones Under 15 A’s North 68 vs West 32 A strong start and being consistent for 4 quarters continue to be our focus. Different player combinations throughout the game allows our team numerous options for different teams we come up against. Kelsie Anderson was a huge impact in her 50th junior game combining well with Ruby Mitchell. Macey Griffith continues to be a dominant goaler working well with Elodie Adam and Cara Nulty. Ava Collins worked tirelessly all game to shut down her player and direct traffic down the court. Maggie Collins did not stop all game, taking important intercepts and delivering precision balls into the goalers. Sarah Brown continues to be consistent in our attack end a reliable feeder. Best players: Macey Griffith and Kelsie Anderson Under 15 B’s North 30 vs West 17 A slow start today saw North on the back foot before finding their normal style of play. Providing multiple options to the ball was a focus leading into the 2nd quarter to relieve the pressure for the passer. Mia Dyson had a strong half combining with Megan Wells and Claire Mitchell had an outstanding game down both ends. Lily Brooks and Tora Jones combined well to get the ball on the circle, whilst Tillie and Summer worked tirelessly to shut down their attackers. Penny and Belle took crucial intercepts and provided leads down the court. Best players: Claire Mitchell and Megan Wells
Yellow & Black Under 17’s North 48 vs West 24 A slow start meant the scoreboard did not reflect the goals we had put in place. Our first half was quite scrappy, which resulted in too many unforced errors and a failure to capitalise on the turnovers we had created in defence. Unfortunately, this was a result of a lack of confidence for a number of players, which was addressed at half time. The second half was a totally different game of netball. The confidence and on court presence of players improved and we played at the high level we are capable of. The outstanding defensive pressure continued and was supported by beautifully time leads, precise passing, and accurate shooting. We achieved the goals we put in place and earned a positive outcome. A reminder to the girls that in order to succeed you must believe you can. Best players: Gianna Morello and Katie Dyson C Grade North 38 vs West 42 West came out firing this week and the North girls were ready for it! The pressure was strong by the defenders and the attackers worked hard to move the ball into the goalies. The girls, once again, pulled out a huge third quarter to bring the scores back level at three-quarter time, but after a good fight in the fourth quarter went down by 4 in the end. Best players: Casey White and Justine Forrest B Grade North 57 vs West 27 Well done girls on a great game, we are really starting to work well as a team and read the play off each other. Everything we have been working on at training in coming into play. Great to have Ash back on the court today with exceptional shooting by her and Bri. Once again Maddy and Amelia work well together feeding the ball right where the goalies needed it. The defensive pressure from Bri Lush, Gmac and Katie for the full 4 quarters was strong making West having to work hard to get the ball into their goalies. Great team effort girls Best players: Brianna Fuller and Amelia Redman A Reserve North 57 vs West 55 We were had some girls out again this week, but Lauren Norman helped us out starting GS. She and Cara Nulty combined beautifully in the goal circle. West are a quality side, and we knew we would be up against it. Being down all game by as much as 10 goals, our defence stepped up to turn ball over and our shooters finished off beautifully. An amazing comeback from a very young, inexperienced side. Best players: Alsha Coon (sponsored by K&S) and Alice Tentye A grade North 59 vs West 71 West are definitely premiership favourites this season and we were able to, for three quarters, match them all over the court. Macey grittith and Caroline were accurate under post. We turned ball over defensively for three quarters and score from these, getting within 2 goals in the third quarter. The last quarter saw West step up their attacking and defensive effort with caused b North to make errors and lose connections through the mid court and goal circle. We will continue to work on playing four quarters of high standard netball with a big game against South this week. Best players: Macey Griffith and Ashlee Kalantarian

West Gambier Blue & Red The weather gods were on our side last Saturday when we hosted North Gambier. We couldn’t have asked for a better day. Congratulations to Abby Egan who played her 100th club game. U11 - The girls had a ripper of a game against an improved North. We had excellent control and movement which resulted in some awesome passages of play. Was pleasing to see some of what we have been learning at trainings displayed on the court. Hard to pick bests this week but well done to Molly and Aggie. Thanks Ella for sitting bench for us. West 20 – North 2 Best players Molly Thomas and Aggie Thomas 13B - A fast, hard hitting opponent saw us fight for every goal of the game this week. A slower than normal start meant a little shuffle around, and the girls finding their feet nicely. Sara, Eva and Isla working extremely well in goals and keeping us up at the final whistle. Mid court working well with Sammy taking charge in the centre court, Isobel, Ella and with Hannah’s first game back saw some nice defence and tidy attack. Sara, Claire and Matilda holding strong against the North girls. Outstanding team work, confidence and endurance let us walk away with a 1 goal win. Super proud of how far you have come and grown as players!! Let’s go west!! West 23 – North 22 Best players Eva Povey and Sara Richards Game day awards: Sara Richards and Isla Lynch 13A - After a few strong wins we came up against an experienced North side who gave us a really good challenge. I was so proud to see each and every one of the girls put in to practice what they have been learning, despite being under pressure. Their teamwork and strive to win was inspiring and coming away with a win was icing on the cake. A special mention to Lara, Swaye and Alice for leaving it all on the court. West 25 – North 22 Best players Swaye Lindner and Lila Pearson Game day awards Lara Murdoch and Swaye Lindner 15B - This weekends game against North tested our girls defensive skills to their max. With a fast paced game in the sunshine Macy & Zarah worked tirelessly to turn over the ball. Our centre passes were unfortunately turned over a few times in the centre where north was able to take advantage. We swapped some players around and are incredibly proud of both Ava and Holly stepping up to their different positions and consistently trying there best. Our best players for the game were Macy and Miley for being absolute superstars, never dropping their heads and leaving everything they had out on the court. West 17 – North 30 Best players Macy Pearson and Miley Vivian 15A - Going up against a dominant North team was always going to be a tough ask. Imogen & Lucy continued to work well in the ring learning to read each others play. This week saw Ella Jolley dominate in the centre, a position she does not normally play, however she took it all in her stride. & showed how versatile she can be. A tough day for the defenders with Ellie doing a great job directing The younger girls kept the fight up until the end. Better luck next time girls West 32 – North 68 Best players Imogen McGregor and Lucy Simpson Game day awards Alex Hudson and Ella Jolley Under 17’s My little team of battlers had another hard game on their hands this weekend. We really pushed the North girls and pressured them at every turn. The first half of the game was very even but the Northies slowly got ahead which was hard to come back from. I asked the girls to be vocal and give 100% which they do every

week. We will keep working on our skills at training and hopefully peg the other teams back in future games. Halle Boult played a very consistent game at WA, her passes into the goalies were spot on. Stevi Clayton had the job of playing C for ¾ in an unseasonably warm Saturday. We then threw her into GS which she hasn’t played all season and did herself proud. Jordy Hereper and Aleisha Pearson still playing well together in goals. Our defence girls just astound me each week, they try and try their hearts out never giving in. Hannah Seidel is a great presence, encouraging her teammates all game. Hannah and Maddie Milch are becoming a gun defence duo. Kirra McKenny and Amity Sheedy backing them up and pressuring all game. The heart and effort these girls give every week is all I can ask for. Keep your heads up Westies. West24 – North 48 Best players Jordy Heraper and Hannah Seidel Game day awards Halle Boult and Hannah Seidel C Grade - Very impressive outcome for the C grade girls in our second game against north, walking away with a win from nearly a 30 goal defeat last time playing them. Our girls fought the whole game not giving up and making every effort they could to be there for the next pass and always backing each other up. Some amazing work from both of our shooters working well in the goal ring and shooting our highest goal score. Credit to our defenders for holding their own and putting pressure on the tiges, very clean defence skills resulting in some great re-bounds and intercepts. A phenomenal effort to our mid courters working their absolute hardest both ends of the court moving the ball down into our shooters with some exceptional passes into the goal circle. Couldn’t be happier to walk away from the game having 2 wins in a row. The girls have come a long way and can’t wait to see the results for the next games. West 42 – North 38 Best players Karli Earle and Alyssa Campbell B Grade - The first quarter saw North dominate, but to west’s credit they fought hard with Maddie Milich fighting for every ball and doing west proud. The second half saw west dig deep and start to enjoy their game. Despite our best efforts North pulled away and came away with the win. West 27 – North 57 Best players Zoe Parham and Abby Egan Game day awards Kirby Hunter and Kellie Buck A Reserve - The girls started out pretty strong in the first quarter making beautiful leads and turning the ball over. Unfortunately they dropped their heads a little bit which then saw North take advantage and end up with the win… West 55 – North 57 Best players Claire Hunter and Racheal Langford A Grade - After a slow first quarter we built through the game to finish off strong. Happy with the last 3 quarters especially with our defence coming alive in the last quarter creating a heap of clean ball. Sarah presented as a big target and took so many balls in front which was a pleasure to watch. Mik and Tarz were consistent all game. It was pleasing to see we were able to build after a slow start and come away with a good win against quality opposition. West71 – North 59 Best players Sarah Ritter and Lisa McGregor This week we host Millicent. All junior and senior awards will be presented in the club, and teas will be available. Would be great to see everyone for a meal! Keep your eye on the red and the blue! Go west!!

A great outcome from the match was the turnover ball converted in goals by Kate and Annalise. Our transition was controlled with patience in congestion and speed when the opportunity presented. It was pleasing to see all players working on improvement every week regardless of the scoreboard. Let’s keep building week after week. B Grade Millicent 59 def Casterton 29 Best Players- Krystal Coghlan & Caitlyn Shanks Enchanted Beauty/Java: Kr ystal Coghlan & New Haven: Jacqui Matthews A much better display of netball this week, with overall defensive pressure creating many turnovers, utilised well by the attack. When we open the centre court and attack, and allow all players to take part in transitioning the ball, our game flows and space is created. Keep building girls, we are a solid unit but there's always room to improve! They are all developing an appreciation for the different positions and the role they need to play. Their close checking defence and clean hands created lots of scoring opportunities. The girls have been working on using their voices more on court and was great to see them all giving good direction to each other. 13Bs Millicent 26 def Casterton 16 Best Players - Indi Coghlan & Ella Matthews Java: Courtney Sigston & Boost: Ella Matthews The girls played a awesome game on great conditions on Saturday. Amarlie and Olive played consistently in goals, and got strong rebounds! Ella and Courtney were vital to the mid court, and when they slowed down their transition and balls into the circle, they delivered them beautifully! Imogen played a cracking game in wing defence, giving it her all, and Indi was dynamic with her movements all through the court. Isabelle and Audrey held down the fort in defence, with multiple turnovers and rebounds! Shoutout to Amarlie who also played the last quarter in goal keeper and did a fabulous job! It was a close game, but the girls provided a four quarter effort to finish the game strongly, winning by ten! We will be taking what we learnt from this week against West, and we are hoping for another tough game ! 11s Millicent 18 def Casterton 11 Best players - Bakers Delight: Lola Ferguson & Denton’s: Prudence Johnson A close, even contest this week for the girls with Casterton stepping out onto the court in great form! SENIORS: Our Under 17’s made the most of each ball they had with Zoe, Ebany, Madeline & Chloe ensuring it got down into the Cats attacking half but unfortunately lost 34-72.

A GRADE - East 39 lost to South 45 Such a disappointing game. Our defence was really strong turning over the ball but unfortunately, we couldn’t convert when it was crucial. We had good movement in attack and managed to slow it down to play more of a controlled game. We cannot let our heads drop.
