TO BE DECIDED THIS SUNDAY AT LEAGUE PRESENTATIONS
PRELIMINARY FINAL PREVIEW It will be do-or-die footy at Blue Lake Sports Park this Saturday when teams hope to keep their dream of lifting the 2021 Bendigo Bank Western Border Football League premiership cup alive. South Gambier already has booked a spot in every single grand final and its partner to the big dance will be revealed after Saturday's all-important preliminary final. Millicent and North Gambier have already enjoyed a number of engrossing contests this year, but none of the recent bragging rights mean anything when they face off for a fourth and final time. The rivals have won the previous two We ste r n B o rd e r f l a g s a n d h ave experienced unique journeys to the penultimate week of the season. After not winning a game in 2019, the Saints skipped the 2020 Limestone Coast Football League and poured all of their resources into this season and it paid off handsomely. Under the stewardship of returning playing coach Clint Gallio, it did not take long for the football world to sit up and take notice of Millicent once again. Few recruits have ever made a bigger impact on WB debut than forward Gene Robinson. The former Adelaide Crows SANFL player has been electric inside 50 leaving defenders for dust kicking 107 goals. Robinson's form has also peaked at the right time of year with his worst output an impactful four goals in his last five games. Although the next best Saints are Sam Willis and Jacob Carger with 17 goals, Millicent is not a one-trick pony. Willis and Carger are just two names to

watch out for in a loaded midfield boasting a lovely mix of enthusiasm and experience with the likes of Gallio, Frazer Bradley, Finn Grimes and Billy Shanks all capable of turning games around. The unit moves the ball fast with long and direct kicks, but the makeup of the midfield will be sweating on the fitness of captain Carger. The leader has been sidelined from the semi-final loss to North and most of the final round due to a calf injury and will give the Saints a significant amount of potency if available.

helped shift the momentum and flip the result. The come-from-behind win was North's first over the Bulldogs in 2021 and has given the reigning premier belief it has not lost its finals magic. Dylan Munn and Tom Scarth pushed hard, while Brett Shepherdson's rise from a B Grade to top A Grade performer within a couple of seasons reached new heights when he kicked a hat-trick of critical goals. Tall target Sam Stafford is also going to be a key figure in front of goals and has happy memories of the Saints kicking 15 goals in three games. Playing coach Justin McConnell will also be looking to stamp his authority having reached multiple goals just once in his last five outings. At the other end of the ground, defender Jake Schutz could hold the key when he resumes his tense one-on-one rivalry with Robinson.
A big source of confidence for the Saints will be thumping win in the previous Tigers' clash. An eight-goal effort from Robinson powered Millicent to a 53-point victory at home where Carger played an integral role. The Saints snuck into a second week of finals after their backline held East at bay in a low-scoring scrap at McLaughlin Park. The Bulldogs were restricted to just three goals across the entire game thanks to the hard work of Jordan Pratt and Craig Gysbers, while Zac Bradley is the one to watch in front of goals having made some big impacts. Fans should brace themselves for a nervous wait with the result possibly not settled until the final siren.

Under 14's The preliminar y final day will be bookended with North v Millicent contests. The Saints have made it to the penultimate week the hard way after finishing fourth, one game ahead of fifthplaced West. The side is led from the versatile duo Kobe Gibson and Jett Werchon and can draw confidence from a narrow eight-point win over the yellow and black just a fortnight ago. The Tigers have been touted as one of the flag favourites after finishing equal on wins with minor-premier and grand final participant South White. But North is suffering a dip at the worst time of the year losing its last three games. Despite the disappointing build up, the Tigers will enter the must-win game at full roar and would love to see Aaron Dally, Iowani Coleman and Cooper Turner do what they do best. Millicent carries w i n n i n g momentum, but a fully firing North could get the job done.

RED, BLACK & WHITE There are just some things women should never say to a man, nothing defeats a man's spirit more than hearing the words "Here, just let me do that" women are thinking that they are just helping ge ng a task done quickly and efficiently as possible. What I hear is "Clearly you think I'm unable to do a simple job like hang a photo frame”, I need to walk over to a corner and think how incapable I am. Unless you are like Bronte who will gladly hand over his hammer grease, le -handed screw driver and glass hammer to someone very much more capable. Another thing women ask is "does this make me look fat"… it's a lose-lose situa on for us. The fact you are asking means you probably think it does. So we can confirm how you feel, or disagree and you think we are lying, when in actuality you probably look really good!! A favourite of mine is "you are soooo sweet" how do you not have a girlfriend"? Ummm because you won't date me!! The dreaded ques on "what are you thinking"? Hmmm.. I wonder if I've ever bought milk from the same cow twice? Why do we put round pizza in a square box, then eat it in triangles? Why would Cinderella's shoe fall off, if it fits her perfectly.? Shoe was on the other foot last week, going down to South by 37 points. In an even contest for the first half where the ball went up and down the ground in a fast and free flowing affair. Millicent held a slight lead of
2 points going into half me. Gallio was ge ng heaps of the ball along with Frazer Bradley, while Billy Shanks and Kade Bradley were solid in defence. Gene was dangerous up forward having to counter a south ou it that pushed back hard and covered holes. Premiership quarter seen south kicked 5 goals while Saints only managed 2. From there it was a game of catch up. Some uncharacteris c skill errors and poor decision making was costly for the Saints. Best player who gave everything and work rate was phenomenal was Gallio, Grimes ba led hard all day in the ruck, Bill Shanks showed poise beyond his years, Frazer Bradley who plays tall and small was everywhere and Brother Kade was solid in defence rarely losing a one-on-one contest. Goal kickers Gene 4, Willis 2, Eli Redman 1 Reserves had a 20-point win against East in the elimina on final. A er being well beaten the week before by East, Millicent come out and made a strong start pu ng on 2 majors in the 1st quarter and keeping East scoreless. 2nd quarter seen the Saints kick 2 more while limi ng East to 1 goal thanks to strong work from Gizzy and Jordy Pra in the backline. Next 2 quarters both teams scored a goal each per quarter. With Millicent in front at final siren by 20 points Best players were Jordy, Gizzy, Colby O'Connor, Harry, Ma Withers and Hamish Reilly

MATCH REPORTS 2nd SEMI FINAL A GRADE – EAST GAMBIER V MILLICENT When a grand final spot is on the line, things are always tough and uncompromising and that is how the A Grade 2nd semi final between East Gambier and Millicent turned out. No player took a backwards step as the a acking payers tried to find space and the defensive players looked to shut that space down. Ball movement for the most part was deliberate and slow as players commi ed to looking a er the ball and they had to as any pass that was slightly off the mark was reeled in by the defensive players from the opposi on. In a seesawing contest, East Gambier always had the edge as Tyne Bosko, Lisa Fyfe and Bo Creek wore their opponents like a glove, ge ng their hands to plenty of balls for forcing errors. At the offensive end it was all about the driving of Emily Hunter, the angle work of Tarsh McCallum, who will relish the week off given her foot injury could do with further rest, and the great ming and composure of Amryn Bosko. And when all of that is happening around Tenille Gray, who worked high up court, and then took control in the a acking third as she worked the ball with her team mates un l a good scoring opportunity emerged, it was a tough day out for the Saints defenders, who weren't able to consistently apply the same pressure as the previous week when the two sides met. Gray finished with an impressive 32 from 37, while at the other end, it was more a supply issue. The accuracy on the finish was there from Tabatha Sanderson and Demi Verbena, but the Saints a acking half just couldn't find enough flow as East disrupted their forays forward on many occasions. The Saints threatened a number of mes but each me they worked their way back to striking distance, East would li again and extend the gap, eventually advancing to the grand final with a seven goal victory. A RESERVE - MILLICENT V NORTH GAMBIER The influence of the respec ve goal shooters was always going to be a key factor in the A Reserve 2nd semi final and Millicent's Annelise Janssen and North's Alisha Bryan didn't disappoint as they anchored their respec ve teams' offensive line – Janssen ne ng 11 from 14 and Bryan 13 from 14 as the Saints took a one

goal lead into the first break. It was much of the same in the second quarter in what was another arm wrestle. Ali Campbell was pivotal for the Saints as she hit the circle hard and fed the ball with precision to Janssen, who shot a perfect 13 straight, while Phoebe McInerney was performing a similar role for North with her hard driving and accurate delivery. Millicent led by three at the main break and decided to inject rising teenage star Olivia Dean into the contest to add some height to the defensive end as the match con nued its goal for goal theme with Millicent taking a five goal lead into the final term. McInerney was again cri cal with her hard running for the Tigers, while Shelby Gallio relished the move into the centre for Millicent and started to become an influen al player. North moved Libby Morgan-Howe to the centre in the final quarter and McInerney to the a acking wing and Morgan-Howe's pace started to open up the Tigers defensive end and with Bryan solid as rock under the post with 10 from 12, the Tigers threatened but just couldn't threaten enough, going down by four goals as the Saints booked a grand final berth. B GRADE – MILLICENT V SOUTH GAMBIER With Millicent and South Gambier entering the B Grade 2nd semi final on the back of their last encounter being a one goal win to the Demons, it was always going to be an epic ba le and it did not disappoint. Millicent coach and goal shooter Jacqui Ma hews certainly led from the front in the opening quarter, conver ng 11 from 14 as she took advantage of the hard running of Jackie Sunderland and with defenders Heather Douglas and Nicole Domaschenz snapping up the missed goals from South, the Saints looked set to power to victory, enjoying a five goal quarter me lead. Things se led in the second, with a scoreline of 11-all as South started to win way more possession and while Demons defenders Bella Morale and Charlene Riley started to make life more difficult for the Saints goalers, Ma hews s ll made her mark with nine from 11. In the third, South managed to claw back one

goal. In terms of possession and opportuni es to score, it was the most even of the match, with the hard running Sunderland and her influence at both ends of the court cri cal for the Saints and Morale and Riley star ng to make life even tougher for the Saints frontline. The final quarter flipped the game on its head. Jaymee O'Neil was sublime as she found space, conver ng seven from 10, as well as feeding accurately to Leyna Bruggemann. The defenders were also s ll having an influence, with Tash A will and Ruby Richter, who took the centre bib for the final quarter, pressuring the feeders and allowing Riley and Morale to completely shut down the Millicent frontline. South enjoyed 23 scoring opportuni es to Millicent's seven and in the end South Gambier booked a grand final spot with a five goal victory. C GRADE – MILLICENT V NORTH GAMBIER Millicent started this match with a bang. No doubt fuelled by dropping their first match of the season in the final minor round to East Gambier. Millicent centre Nicola Ba en and goal a ack Sapphire Sims were finding great connec on and with the defensive effort from the Saints denying North many scoring opportuni es, it was a tough opening stanza for the Tigers. Zoe Rout was working hard on the a acking wing for North Gambier but by quarter me the deficit was eight goals. North definitely se led into their work in the second quarter and with more scoring opportuni es, it gave a chance for Hannah Fox, who converted six straight, and Bailey Young, who was crea ve at goal shooter, to really shine and bring their team back into the contest. The deficit was nine at half me but the Tigers con nued to dig deep to try and claw back some ground. Kate Dyson, who had been damaging in the defensive circle in the first half, moved to centre and her ba le with Ba en was the match up of the quarter but in the end, North only broke even and it was nine going into the last. It was one way traffic in the last as the shoo ng combina on of Sims and Jodie Reilly ne ng 18 from 22 to put the result beyond doubt.

MATCH REPORTS 2nd SEMI FINAL 17 & UNDER – MILLICENT V SOUTH GAMBIER It was always going to be a ght ba le in the 17 & Under 2nd semi final between Millicent and South Gambier and it did not disappoint. It was all about the respec ve goal a acks in the opening quarter with Millicent's State representa ve Lucy Denton se ng up play at one end and Alyssa Duncan playing the same role for the Demons. At the first change it was the top ranked Saints by three goals and they extended that advantage to seven at the main break. Denton was again dominant, ne ng 13 from 14, but the rare opportuni es for rebounds that did present were snaffled by South goal defender Ellie Bouchier who rebounded strongly as well as ge ng some important deflec ons to keep the Demons in touch. Both sides swing the changes at the main break. Millicent introduced Saige Gibson and Sophie O'Connor into the contest on the wings, while the hard running Lydia Megaw gave her wing a ack bib to Tully McShane, with Georgia Ryan entering the contest at goal shooter and Alannah Clayton moving to wing defence to replace the hard working Ruby Richter. Denton and Rylee Kenny swapped roles for the Saints as well and Denton was again the focal point in the third as she ne ed 12 from 15, while Duncan con nued to be cri cal for the Demons. Missed shots for South though were turnovers as Olivia Dean and Por a McRae dominated the rebounding contests and by three quarter me it was an 11 goal advantage. The Demons fought back hard though, with Duncan conver ng 10 straight as she capitalised on the st4rong defensive work of Chelsea Dunn and Bouchier, while Alannah Clayton also created some turnover ball from the defensive wing. But in the end, the three quarter me advantage proved too much and Millicent advanced to the grand final with a six goal victory. 15 & UNDER A – MILLICENT V NORTH GAMBIER Minor premiers were missing Abby Denton and Edie Easterby and in the first half, North Gambier took full advantage of the disrup on to the line up in the 15 & Under A 2nd semi final. While the Saints got off to a great start, powering to an 8-2 lead on the back of Annelise Janssen shoo ng accurately, while for North, Ava Collins was the key link player, helping lead the comeback, along with the defensive efforts of Tenielle Human and Stella Mobbs and by the first break the damage was only two goals – the Saints with the advantage. Mobbs and Human con nued to make life tough for the Saints frontline in the second quarter, forcing errors on the feed with their ght checking and willingness to contest and with Macey Griffith ne ng seven from nine, the Tigers started to take control of the scoreboard going into the main break two goals up. Millicent midcourters Poppy Venn and Lillie Paul kept the Saints in touch but it set up a
mammoth second half. Both sides swing the changes in a bid to gain an advantage – Millicent injec ng 13 & Under A player Piper Paul into the mid court, moving Venn to the goal a ack role and moving Ella Easterby onto the defensive wing. North added Tora Jones to the defensive wing and the fresh legs of Luca Roulstone to the middle but it was Millicent that started to find dominance with their new look line-up. Maya Tarrant and Lauren Van Eeden really stepped up at the defensive end, holding the potent North a ack line to only three goals, while Piper Paul found the circle's edge and fed Janssen well to see Millicent work its way to a five goal three quarter me lead. Lillie Paul was the star of the final quarter as she con nually won the ball back while then using her speed to drive hard down court, while for North Gambier, Human con nued to create turnover opportuni es. Janssen, too, was unstoppable as she converted 10 from 11 as Millicent advanced to the grand final with a 10 goal victory. 13 & UNDER A – MILLICENT V NORTH GAMBIER Nothing split Millicent and North Gambier in the first quarter of the 13 & Under A 2nd semi final with the goalers finishing accurately, seeing the score sit at 12-all at the first change. Millicent's Emily Denton and North's Kelsie Anderson were also strong in the opening quarter, ge ng some important touches for their respec ve sides. It was all about Maggie Collins in the second quarter as the hard running Tigers centre dominated in a ack and won back some cri cal ball and at the main break, North held a one goal lead. Bella Coughlan was also cri cal in the second quarter for the Saints, earning some pivotal defensive turnovers and also using her speed as a key link player. Millicent flicked a switch in the third quarter as they started to apply be er full court tressure and the errors started to flow from the Tigers. Millicent keeper Eva Crowe started to get some touches and Mylee Lynch was strong on the drive, ne ng eight from nine, in a quarter that saw the Saints turn that one goal deficit into a five goal three quarter me lead. It was one way traffic in the last as Millicent powered to a 17 goal win on the back of hard running from Piper Paul and superb finishing from Ashlee Dean, who converted 12 from 15 in a dominant display. Claire Mitchell was outstanding for the Tigers in goals, while defenders Kelsie Anderson and Ruby Mitchell never stopped looking to win the ball back, while for the Saints, Piper Paul dominated the mid court, while Mis Gysbers also ran hard all day, having an impact at both ends of the court. 13 & UNDER B – MILLICENT V NORTH GAMBIER It was all about the defenders in the opening quarter between Millicent and North Gamier in the 13 & Under B 2nd semi final. Nerves were evident from the first whistle and there were planet of errors and impressive intercep ons,
especially from Saints defender Jeda Hibberd and North keeper Penny Coleman, as both teams looked to se le and at the end of the first quarter, Millicent held a narrow one goal lead. North took control in the second quarter as goalers Megan Wells and Mia Griffith started to combine well – Megan on the hold and Mia on the front cuts, and with some accurate finishing, the Tigers were able to build a four goal half me buffer. The hard running of Georgia Nulty (North) and Poppy Thorne (Millicent) was also pivotal in the first half and in a bid to gain an edge, both sides swung changes at the main break. North's accurate finishing in the shoo ng circle and the fresh legs of Lacey Allen, who came into the contest on the a acking wing, saw the Tigers threatening to take complete control but Tahnee Grosser had other ideas and she worked hard to find space through the tough defence of Penny Coleman and Mischa Human, keeping the Saints in touch with a five goal three quarter me deficit. The Tigers did take control though in the last to build a 10 goal lead by the final whistle, with the last quarter all about the two tall shooters Kalani Dunn for Millicent and Megan Wells for North.

MATCH REPORTS 1st SEMI FINAL A GRADE – WEST GAMBIER V NORTH GAMBIER In the end, the damage was done in the second quarter and no ma er how many mes West Gambier challenged North Gambier in the A Grade 1st semi final, the Tigers maintained control and advanced to the preliminary final with a five goal victory. It was the Tigers who got the be er of the start, their defensive intensity from Noni McConnell, Maddie Whaites, Teneille Barry and Mel Renko, forced the West frontline into uncharacteris c errors but some late turnover ball saw the Roos fight back to be down four at the first change. It was in the second, though, that North, set up the victory. The defensive pressure remained unrelen ng and at the other end the pace and smarts of Brianna Walters and Ellen Brown worked the ball through the West defence to find star shooter Caroline Davey again and again. It was the Tigers shooter's most prolific quarter, conver ng 14 from 15 as North powered to a 14 goal half me lead. The signs were not good for the Roos who moved experienced defender Amy Cram back onto Davey and allowed Jade Ri er to run the front but it wasn't just at the defensive end that the immediate improvement came. The a ack line started to show more pa ence and with the hard running of Carlee Davey and Tara Bryant to find the circle's edge and the work rate of Lisa McGregor, the improved defensive effort and winning of more ball started to reflect on the scoreboard. West whi led that 14 goal half me deficit back down to single digits in the blink of an eye but then did allow some of those errors to creep back in late and North looked preliminary final bound at three quarter me with a nine goal lead. Again, West was not so quick to give up on keeping their season alive and they made a few charges at the Tigers in the last, ge ng as close as four goals as Sarah Ri er dominated the quarter with 12 from 13, and at the other end Cram and Ri er rebounded strongly and thanks to outside pressure from Bryant and Nikeisha Facey and also picked up some cri cal turnover ball to try and bridge the gap. But in the end, the damage had been done and

North advanced with a five goal win. A RESERVE – EAST GAMBIER V WEST GAMBIER The A Reserve 1st semi final between East Gambier and West Gambier was a rollercoaster ride, with both sides having the chance to set up victory in what ended up a three goal win for the Bulldogs. West started the be er of the two sides, with clinical ball movement in a ack from Zoe Malseed and Caitlin Carraill, finding Jasmine Davey and Claire Hunter in space with the duo conver ng 13 from 16 in a superb opening quarter. At the other end, uncharacteris c errors were part of East's game but the Buldogs were able to fight back towards the end of the quarter and what should have been a lead of a few goals, had been eroded to only one for the Roos. It was all East in the second quarter as Teagan Gray, who moved to centre, started to take control of the a ack line and with Casey Horrigan and Alysia Geraghty star ng to find be er space, the Bulldogs looked unstoppable, c o nv e r n g 1 8 f ro m 1 8 a s a s h o o n g combina on and rewarding the defensive efforts of Sharna McKinnon and Jasmine Rokov who were able to get plenty of cri cal touches. The nine goal half me lead and the form of both sides, with West making a slew of errors in that second quarter, made many assume East would run away with a comfortable win but the young Roos had other ideas and with Zoe Malseed and Mikaela Horrigan domina ng the mid court in the third and Hannah Fisher crea ng some pivotal turnovers, it was West who started to look the be er side. Davey converted eight from eight and Hunter only had one miss for the quarter as West started to play a more pa ent brand of netball in a ack, wai ng un l the right op on opened up. It saw the deficit at six by the main change and set up an epic last quarter. The Roos pushed hard with Toneya Carraill ge ng some important touches in the defensive third and Emily Dawe, who entered the game at wing defence in the second half, proving to be a cri cal link player and West had numerous opportuni es to draw level but in the

end, McKinnon was able to make some key defensive plays when it counted and Geraghty and Casey Horrigan converted accurately. Hunter was huge in the last quarter for West, ne ng 12 from 13 but in the end, East earned the right to take on North Gambier in this weekend's preliminary final. C GRADE – EAST GAMBIER V SOUTH GAMBIER East Gambier entered the C Grade 1st semi final hot favourites having defeated South Gambier on the past two occasions with comfortable margins but the Demons had other ideas and in what was a goal for goal ba le for much of the contest, South kept its season alive with a three goals victory. The Demons had their full compliment of players for the first me in many weeks and Breanna Forster and Kate Telford's hard running through the mid court allowed South to transi on the ball well, finding goalers Brooke Winterfield and Ella Egan in space. Both sides were challenged by the severe winds during the contest and it was not a great day to be a shooter, which is why the last quarter efforts of Egan, who ne ed nine from 12 when the game was on the line was so impressive. South led by three at quarter me with Egan leading the way at the start as well, finding good connec on with centre Maelee Dalton to help the Demons to that early lead. The Bulldogs bounced back though as Jacinta Clark started to have an impact at the defensive end and Daniela Waters started to find some space in the a acking end and ta the main break, South's lead was only one. It was another ght quarter in the third with plenty of turnovers and the margin was s ll one in favour of South heading into the last. Egan's last quarter heroics were matched by East's Waters, who also had her best quarter, shoo ng eight from 10, but in the end, South's ability to keep winning back the ball through Misty Dalton and best on court Jess McGregor was the difference and the Demons advanced with a three goal victory.

MATCH REPORTS 1st SEMI FINAL 17 & UNDER – WEST GAMBIER V NORTH GAMBIER It was always going to be an uphill ba le for North Gambier in the 17 & Under 1st semi final against West Gambier and once the Roos got off to a flier, leading by 10 at the first break, there was no ge ng back for the Tigers. That lead blew out to 20 by the half and by the me the final whistle blew it was a 26 goal margin as West moved into the preliminary final to meet South Gambier. The workrate of Zoe Malseed out the front of Sarah Ri er in goals for West was outstanding and with Tara Bryant driving hard to hit the circle's edge, the supply was accurate and o en as Ri er con nued to present strongly, finishing the match with 43 from 51, while Malseed also finished her opportuni es accurately. At the other end, Maddie Milich and Hayley Pearson were working hard defensively and when Hannah Seidel was injected into the defensive line as well, it made for a hard day at the office for the Tigers a acking players. Lauren Norman was the key target for North Gambier and she presented strongly all game, while the hard running of Gianna Morello was important, but in the end, West just had too much experience for the Tigers and ran away with the contest. 15 & UNDER A – WEST GAMBEIR V EAST GAMBIER West Gambier got off to a flier in the 15 & Under A 1st semi final on the back of Lucy Simpson presen ng strongly and ne ng 11 straight as the Roos built a five goal lead. Hard running from Leila Croker and Alex Hudson saw the Roos feeding Simpson from a good posi on and at the other end Ellie Xanthopoulos and Charlo e Sco created enough turnover ball to help the Roos to the quarter me lead. East shooter Ma lda Lamb was the best of the Bulldogs in the opening quarter, shoo ng six without a miss. East dug in in the second quarter with some early turnover ball and be er movement in a ack. Lamb was again the focal point with her shoo ng partner Ambah Beveridge using her strong drives to open up the space for Lamb. Jordy Davis was having a great ba le with

Croker in the middle, while at the defensive end Tonique Burford took some cri cal rebounds and forced some errors in delivery and by the main break it was a seven goal game. The tenscity and ght checking of Indi Dwyer and Tahlia Geraghty also saw East stay in the contest with both players also driving strongly in transi on. West had control of the third quarter as well, despite the Bulldogs hanging tough, with Imogen McGregor entering the contest at wing a ack but turning the ball over with some strong defensive efforts and Tully Lindner also doing some strong defensive work on the other wing as well as being a key link player. It was a 10 goal game at the final change and West finished strongly, with Simpson and Aleisha Pearson con nuing to combine well in goals and Sco and Xanthopolouos keeping the Bulldogs to only seven scoring shots, running out winners by 17 goals. 15 & UNDER B – MILLICENT V WEST GAMBIER Millicent's a ack started the game with swi ball movement between through the midcourt with their centre Alannah Pra and wing a ack Jaimie Lucas providing plenty of drive. The Saints Ma Fauchelle used her strength in the circle to be the top scorer on the court. West's wing a ack Halle Boult provided strong leads in a ack with Imogen McGregor finishing off under the post. Millicent went into the break with a four goal advantage. The second quarter started with errors from both sides in the windy condi ons. The ght defensive pressure from Bella Gysbers and M a c k i n l e e e A l c o c k r e s t r i c t e d We s t ' s opportuni es to score, while at the other end goal shooter, Hailey McGrath made the most of her possession shoo ng accurately. Pra con nued to dominate through the centre and the Saints were able to increase their lead to go into the break 18-10.
Millicent changed their midcourt and moved Pra to WA and her connec on Fauchelle the difference as they scored from their opportuni es. Alcock rebounded any missed shots by West and in the end it was the Saints who were able to outscore West by five to take the contest 32-21. Best players for Millicent were McGrath and Alcock and for West they were served best by Hudson and Boult. 13 & UNDER A – SOUTH GAMBIER V WEST GAMBIER South started strongly with Gracie Dalton and Kirsten Cole scoring from every opportunity a er some ght defensive pressure from the South defenders. South went into the break with an 8-goal win. South con nued to dominate the second quarter with Ruby Milich running hard through the midcourt, connec ng well with Kasey Sims to feed Dalton who con nued to dominate in the goal circle. West's, Swaye Lindner entered the game at centre and provided strong op ons in a ack. South went into the half me break with a 17-goal advantage. The third quarter was more evenly contested with South's defenders, Charlie A will and Bree Ridding working hard to create turnovers. Bridie Bell entered the game at goal shooter for South and West remained unchanged. West's Ella Jolley started to find more space in the goal circle and Lindner con nued to feed well. South led by 20 goals at three quarter me. The last quarter was West's best as Jolley scored 10 straight without a miss and goal defence Holly Jackson ghtened her defensive pressure to cause turnovers and restricted South to four goals for the quarter. South was able to win the contest by 12 goals with Dalton and Ridding playing four consistent quarters for South and for West, Lindner and Jolley provided their team with plenty of opportuni es.
West started the third quarter well, breaking the first centre pass and scoring the first two goals of the quarter. The Saints changes in a ack took them a while to se le and Annabel Judd took mely intercepts to help her side be within six at the three quarter me break.

Millicent and North Gambier have played three high quality, tight matches in 2021 and the preliminary final looms as another epic battle. Preliminary final day is unchartered territory for the reigning premiers but despite not playing anywhere near their best in the 2nd semi, they did only lose to a rampaging East Gambier by six goals so with some more hard work on the training track and a few tweaks, the Saints will still be a force.
