SATURDAY
MONDAY 8.00am - 10.00am
With both senior teams missing some players, there was plenty of U18s playing in the main match at South. Wehadbeenpushedtwice already by them and it was there turn to take the chocolates after they took the game away from us during the 2nd and 3rd quarters. Our best were named Josh Jenner, Cam Ortlepp, Mackye Baron, Tyson Christophersen and Mitch Kelton. Congratulations goes to ZayneYoungonhisdebut, andfirst goal.
The less said about the reserves game the better, other than to thank the ones that are turning up each week, particularly those that train, and Fruity Norman for umpiring. Awards were given to Sam Shepherd, Tyler Harris, Tyler Horrigan, Riley Rolph and Shaun Butterfield.
ThegameofthedaywastheU18s. We held on in a thriller which is reward for the boys hard work throughout the year, including many playing multiple games. Best players were Kade Allen, Josh Glidden, Richard Kinyabugma, Teangi Stephens, Deacon Ilsley andReeceMcLaughlin.
The U16s ran into a hot South side andarenowhavetodoeverything right to play finals. Kade Allens return to football is going great guns and he picked up another best player award and should be shouting some of his teammates a burger! Other award winners included Tate Smith, Jackson
Driver, Chad McLaughlin and CooperTurner
School holidays are always tough in the underage grades, which coach Roulstone found this week against the top team. The team battled all day, with Cody Blanck, Cooper Harris, Fletcher Mobbs, Reid Hamilton and James Bryan takinghometheawards.

VAnother great day at Malseed park with the weather gods holding of with the rain thankfully fortheday.
The oval is heavy at best and the way some of our players are moving after the game resembles Billy ray in his hey days I am told!
With the weather being cold it makes for a chilly day, but the Auskicker’s didn’t care as they hit the field with Casterton Sandford kids and had a blast. Plenty of kids chasing the ball around was great to see and thanks to Casterton Sandford for bringing the kidsacrossforakick.
Great to see the Net set go girls have a game as well and enjoyed Billy Rays hospitality with a snag and drink after the game. The future of the game needs to keep growing so the more kids that play the better it is forall.
The Football is starting to get to the pointy end of the year and with the finals around the corner, Exciting times as we all start to build as a club movingforward.
The club is open for teas tonight so get back to the club for the awards and 200clubdraw.

Well the Bulldogs made both teams work for their wins in the encounters at McDonald ParklastSaturday
After trailing by5 points at half time, the Seniors only shook off the determined Doggies in the last quarter to win by 27 points. FrazerBradleyfinished with 4 goals; Chipper, Cargs and Dredgy finished with 2 apiece and singles to Jaxon, Gidda and Hamish McRae Cargs was named best afield. He's had a consistent and stellar season, rarely wastes a position and draws cover defenders when he has ball in hand. Ginny was superb across half back and wherever his opponent went. He even chimes in with the odd intercept mark (as did Boxhead).Frazerwasnextbest followed by Clint, Tunks and Hamish.
A solid win with players to return into the squad The coaches and leadership will have plenty to ponder It's pleasing watching players
develop their versatility to be swung by the coaches through p o s i t i o n s to s h i f t t h e momentum in tight contests.
I'm looking forward to today's gameagainstSouthGambier
In the Rezzies, the boys opened with a good first quarterbutthendealtupwhat a couple of players considered as one of their worst for the season HOWEVER, they did dominateafterhalftimetowin by 52 points Coach Josh appears to have shaken injury and booted 4 goals as did Digga. Matt Withers kicked two, Muzz and Brad finished with one apiece. Aus Fuller continued his good form to be named best on followed by Pidge who has his hands firmly on Best First Year Player, then the Man of the Moment 50 Game Superstar Scruff: then t h e t h r e e R e s p e c t e d Statesmen Brad, Nat and Digga.

The 18’s got a bit of a wake up call going down to a more committed North team. A couple of scoreless quarters in the 2nd and 3rd didn’t help and although coming back in the last couldn’t get there Best players were Kobe Bannon and Liam Delaney who also kicked a couple of goals , it was great to see him back after a long term injury, Cayde WatsonandMaxWhitehead.
The16’scontinuetoplaysomereally exciting team footy and this week Jace Maxwell was on the end of some good work picking up seven and the exciting Emerson Forbes kicking three. Jace was best with other award winners Brody Fox, Lachie Cameron, Jack Walmsley, IsaakBouchierandNoahMaxwell.

We travelled to the picturesque Malseed Park last week to play the Roos of West Gambier, it wasn't a successful day for our footballers but I had a fine piece of scotch from the new BBQ so it wasn't too bad a day. I was going to hang around for the Trivia night but Fridge and Bully barred our group from entering, something about Belinda and Paige hadthemworried.
The Under 14's looked the goods in the first quarter but were unable to get the choccies on the day, better players were Billy Rhook, Jett Lykke, Nate Longhurst, Nathan Robbins, HarryButterworthandZavierCates.
The Under 16's showed some good passages of play but a scoreless second quarter meant they were playing catch up for the rest of the game, better players were Bay McKinnon, Coby Rice, Oliver Foster, ReghanParsonsandAlexHill.
The Reserves had a fair crack in the first quarter, fresh legs in Nathan Fidler and Michael Jarrad and the return of Senior players Conan Devereux and Sullivan Gibbs from injury gave the Ressies some bounce, unfortunatly West kind of ran away withitinthesecondhalf
Better players were Thomas Searle, Bevan Wombwell, Sullivan Gibbs, Matthew Thurkle, Jake Bunnik and KaneForbes.
The Senior game was a low scoring affair, Casey Jones was our lone goal kicker and we had to wait until the
last quarter to see that go through, but the game was played in the right spirit and our Cats made further improvements and will be able to beattheRooscomefinalstime.
Better players were Matt Killey, Gabe Parsons, Michael Krieger, Nick Schembri, Jarrod O'Brien and Ed Pritchard.
This week we play East Gambier at Island Park, East have really pushed us in the seniors so our Cats will need to be on the ball against the Doggies, with a bit of luck the President will be righttoplayhis150thSeniorgamefor the Club, I was watching him at West and he was riding every bump, stick around tonight for the best damn feed in town and celebrate the wins, CARNCATS!

VLast week we hosted the saints which felt like we were at Hamilton the few peopleoutanaboutwere strugglingwiththecold.
U14s were outsized and muscled but kept fighting itouttiltheend.
Best players J Saunders, T Dumigan,EClark,RGrigg, XFarmiloandCGifford.
U16s had a real crack despite coach Schultz being out with illness so thanks to Hooker for f i l l i n g i n b u t unfortunately they came up just short but played somereallygoodfooty
B e s t p l a y e r s C McCracken, B Sampson, S Telford, W Rentsch, T TilleyandAMcKinnon.
U18s was a good game the boys were hoping to replicatelastroundwitha win but unfortunately cameupshort.
Best players T Wilke, K McCracken, E Stratford, N BignellandTTilley.
Reserves starting to get some numbers back were competitive in the first half but got over run in the2ndhalf.
Best players A Dethmore, T McCourt, B Nash, R Clarke, G Janeway and D Smith.
Seniors after a month of close losses and few players down could of
easily capitulated against the reigning premiers but the guys showed grit in the freezing conditions to be up at half time, just down at 3 quarter time and half way through the last still be in it, only to be out done by the better side shows just how far they've come and they're notfarawayfromthat1st win
Best players R Lillicrap, N Lock,ShaunLock,CSlape, M S c a n l o n a n d M Rumbelow.
Last week Pat Gorback our A grade time keeper for as long as I can remember was not feeling well and had to be taken to hospital in an ambulance. Just letting everyone know he's feeling alot better and should be out soon but tells me he might have to have a week or 2 off. Special thanks to Terry and Riley Janeway for getting his car and dog homeforhim.

ITwasinthemid1970swhenPenoladelegateandformer championplayerandcoachMurrayMooneystoodupata Western Border Football League meeting to address delegates.
The Victorian clubs were hurting, lacking success and only Heywood in 1972 and Hamilton and Portland had reallymadeafightofittomakefinalsintheearly1970sas the financial might of East, South and other SA clubs startedtohaveabigaffectonVictorianclubs.
But Mooney would have none of the whinging, moaning and groaningcomingfromsomeVictorianclubdelegates andVictorianmedia.
While their argument that the league was becoming lopsidedhadsomemerit,Mooneywouldhavenoneofthat.
“Gentlemen,” Mooney said as he stood before them. “I won’thearanyoftheargumentsthattheleagueneedsto address the financial success of the SA clubs and the lack ofitontheVictorianside.
“My club (Penola) is struggling, and it is tough getting juniors to play in colts and we are finding it difficult to recruit players to Penola, but all sport, all footy leagues have strong clubs and weak clubs but we won’t move forward as a league and become an even stronger and betterleagueifwetrytobringtopclubs–theachievers–backto thelevelof theweakerclubs. What wemust do is encourage the weaker clubs to climb up off the mat and take on the stronger clubs. That is the only way forward and I will hear none of the talk that footy is dying in the WesternBorderFootballLeague.
“As everyone knows football success is cyclical and other clubs will have their time at the top, it is just a matter of workingharderandstrivinghardertogetthere.”
Mooneyreceivedastandingovation.Hemighthavebeen a Penola man at heart - they say he bled blue and whitebut he was also a league man and later would become league vice president - that is how highly other clubs ratedhim.
At the time, Mooney’s comments hit home because the Victorian clubs were keen to stop the recruiting ability of thesixSAteamsintheleague.
But there was a Victorian tsunami coming and it came in theformofcellar-dwellersImperials.
But first, back in 1972 Heywood showed how it could be done, apointwhichMooneymadeinhisspeech.
While some of the recruiting came from job transfers, Heywood climbed out of the wilderness in one of the greatfootystoriesinthehistoryoftheWBFL.
Former North Melbourne utility player Les Cameron arrivedandhewasafitnessfanatic.Hedroveplayershard inpre-seasonandtheywerethefittestsideintheleague. BillPickencameacrossfromoneoftheminorleaguesand madeahugeimpactasayoungteenagerbeforegoingon toplayforCollingwood.
Tough centre half forward and centre half back Peter RyanwasanothertoplayamajorroleforHeywoodwhile they also picked up champion inter-league rover John Martin who would later play and coach Imperials. Ryan wouldlatermovetoMountGambierandplaywithSouth.
WithCameronincharge,someofthelong-timeHeywood
players suddenly realised they could be a finals contender and in the first year of the final five Heywood madeittothe1972preliminaryfinal.
Other players to shine were key forwards Terry and Graham Grant, half back Joe Angelino, centre half back Joe Maziarz, ruckman Barry Davis with rover David Rose and his brother Rob on the forward flank. With Heywood picking up full back Dennis Alexander they had a strong “spine”withatalentedmidfieldtobackthatup.
As well there was veteran Russell Duncan who as a rover wontheWBFLgoalkickingin1966with54goals.
Sadly when selection time came around for the finals Duncan could not push out Martin or Rose from the rovingpositionsandhiscareerendedthere.
Heywood went all the way into the preliminary final before falling to North but it showed that with some clever recruiting, a little luck and a good coach any club wascapableofmakingthefinals.
Of the other Victorian clubs, only Portland and Hamilton were regularly in the finals and by the mid 1970s it was East and South and to a lesser degree North and West whodominatedfinals.
In 1974 there were the first signs of an emerging “super club”onthescene.
Imperials had lived in the bottom half of the ladder for muchofWBFLhistory
By 1974 they had some serious young talent but mainly were tough “street fighters” The Raymond boys –Stewart, John and later Eddie were all tough but could play, all they needed was a disciplined coach to blend the toughnesswiththeskilloftheyoungplayers.
Other young players included Stuart and Geoff Holcombe, wingmenPaulHabelandRichardHughes, and centreman Garry Slade. Hughes was a huge talent. He was always perfectly balanced and his drop kicks on the run arrived “lace out” to the forwards. But when Wayne Fletcher hit the scene as a 16-year-old everyone knew a future champion had arrived. He could kick equally well bothfeetandwasaprodigiouskick.Laterhewouldcoach North to two premierships in the late 1980s and won a WBFLMedalin1984.
It all came together when Imps appointed former South Melbourne midfielder Shane McKew as coach. He was hardattheball, hadplentyofskillandwasjustwhatImps needed. He took hold of the “street fighters” and taught them how to win by maintaining that toughness, but added that extra level of skill which made them the best teamofthelate1970s.
RuckmanGregRichardswasrecruitedfromtheHampden League and became an inter-league super star He had tried out with Fitzroy as a teenager and then later North Adelaide but his heart was set on country footy and his mates.
Paul Aron arrived from Oakleigh (VFA). He was strongly built and became McKew’s second in charge, playing majorrolesatcentrehalfforwardorontheball.
Then there was long drop kicking Dennis Crawford and reliableandbrilliantyoungcentrehalfbackAdrianQuinn who was best on the ground in each of Imps three successivegrandfinals–1976,77and78.
Imps had also recruited rover John Martin who left Heywood to live in Hamilton. Hamilton dual premiership rover Allan Knape also switched to Imps and would later coach the club and the WBFL league side. Other major
recruits were former Essendon under 19 defender Mike Noonan, half back Bruce Knee, ruckman Greg Walsh and toughnutcentremanIvanNewfromCollingwood.Oneof Imps’ great coups was recruiting dashing high flying half forward Neville Carracher, who was brilliant around the goals and would play inter-league after crossing from the WimmeraLeague.
Another of Imps young players to emerge as a real talent was full forward Neville Osborne. He was tough, but talented. A fast leading full forward he could take packs marks in the goalsquare and no full back was ever completelysafewhenOsbornewasaround.
Down back, Imps had the consistent Trevor Farrer and Robbie Herrman to take care of opposing half forwards andwithQuinnthisgavethemasolidouterdefence.
Imps soon adapted under the McKew leadership with fast,run-onfootball,kickinglongtoacontest.
By1975Impswereathreatandmadethefinals.
The following year it took the might of East Gambier and thegeniusofcoachGaryLazarustoholdthematbaywith former Port Adelaide and state forward Eric Freeman kickingsevengoals.
Lazarus’tacticsofplayingtworuckmenasa“wall”behind the ball stopped Imps’ flow-on game and proved a master-stroke.
But in 1977, despite West Gambier finishing top of the ladder they were never in the hunt and lacked the heart and hardness of Imps when the game was there to be won.
Imps won comfortably and the following year met their great rival East Gambier and came back from a 27 point deficitinthesecondtermtopinchasecondflag.
Imps won a third, but this was in 1980, at the end of the 1970sera.
Just the same, Imps showed the Victorian clubs could match it with the might of the SA clubs’ “dollar” and they did.

Millicent is building towards another finals campaign and while the Saints will not take the young South Gambier line-uplightly,theywouldbeconfident their relentless defensive pressure and slickoffencewillbeenoughtotakecare oftheDemons.
South will welcome back Tully McShane and her ba le with Daisy Tunkin will be intriguing as two young guns of the compe on try to have a posi veinfluencefortheirteam.
Por a McRae is coming off a strong performance in Round 11 and the star defender will certainly hunt intercep ons in the goal third if South isnotcarefulwithballinhandsandher ght checking will test young shooter Gracie Dalton, who has ore than held her own in her debut season in A Grade.
Of course, the number one priority is denying too much ball for Tabatha Sanderson, who is in career best form, and that means pressure out the front from McShane and Megan Reid on Tunkin and Lillie Paul, as well as plenty of responsibility on the shoulders of EllieBouchier, whowillneedtobalance denying Demi Verbena too much me, space and possession, while also fadingbacktoassistSophieWight.
Wight is gutsy and athle c with a good ver cal leap but she will need pressure on the incoming ball to be any chance ofcrea ngturnovers.
At the other end of the court Ruby Richter faces the daun ng challenge of Saints wing defender and spiritual leaderLisaDuldigandRichterwillneed to stay on the move, be pa ent with ball in hand and hit the circle as quickly as possible to create scoring opportuni es for Dalton and the in formcaptainAlyssaDuncan.
South has been in their past two contests before fading badly in the last quarter and stand in coach Felicity Walker will no doubt be looking for a four quarter effort even if the scoreboard does not fall their way, whiletheSaintswillbelookingtoshow no mercy as they con nue to work towards their quest for a return to premiershipglory
Casterton Sandford had a strong opening quarter against West Gambier last round and ge ng off to a similarly strongstartwillbekeyiftheCatsareto upsetEastGambier
TheBulldogshadastrongperformance against Millicent in the previous round anddespitenotsecuringthewinwould be happy with how the season is building, especially given they have basically put a different combina on outoncourtineveryround.
For Casterton Sandford Madalene Cleary and Ivy Lane are star ng to develop as a shoo ng combina on but they will be up against it with Bo Creek and Morgan Amy one of the ghtest checkingandwelldrilledcombina ons inthecompe on.
At the other end, Ebany Jarrad and Caeleigh Humphries will be relieved not to be facing a tall shooter, but Renee Henke and Casey Horrigan add another challenge – a moving circle that uses quick ball movement to find goodscoringposi on.
Tarsh McCallum looms large with the classy feeder always a danger with ball inhandsothelikesofMadelinePa on, who has really grown as a player in 2023, and the retuning Chelsey Galpin, willneedtomakelimi ngtheinfluence of the 2021 premiership captain if the Catsaretobeinconten on.
In reality East should return with the premiership points but the Cats are definitely improving with each ou ng and would be looking to further developaheadofaround13clashwith SouthGambier.
Easily the match of the round, North Gambierishos ngWestGambier, with the Tigers arguably the ones that really need the win so that if they face the Roos in the finals, they have that belief theycanupsetthereigningchamps.
Every match up is cri cal and both teamsknowtheworkhastobedonein the mid court to stop the respec ve shooters – West’s Sarah Ri er and North’s Grace Po s – from scoring a prolificamountofgoals.
Mikaila Pi will be matched on Ri er, while Jade Ri er will take on Po s but pressure on the incoming ball will be key – as talented as those two defenders are, they cannot stop their opponentsontheirown.
In the centre, Tara Bryant and Mel Renko looms as a key ba le, while Zoe Malseed and Brianna Walters is just as key as the ght checking West wing defender looks to upset the always composed Walters, who is one of the most unassuming but damaging mid courtersinthecompe on.
Mikaela Horrigan will be matched on LauranNormanandthatisanothertoo close to call ba le. Both are tall and athle c and if Norman can deny Horrigan me and space that will go alongwaytohelpingtheTigers’cause.
North goal a ack Macey Griffith is a n o t h e r u n a s s u m i n g b u t uncompromising player and while she is a star on the rise, her opponent is a bonafide star, who just keeps ge ng be er–AmyCram.
Cram will use every trick in the book to unse le her younger opponent, while also rolling back to help out Ri er with Po s.
At the other end, it is two wily compe tors as West playmaker and former associa on best & fairest Lisa McGregor goes toe to toe with Noni McConnell – the Tigers’ ght checking, relentless goal defender who knows just how important it is that she does not allow McGregor to play her usual role as puppet master for the West offensiveplay
In the end, Sarah Ri er’s ability to not just challenge at the post with her heightbutherlongrangeaccuracymay wellprovethedifference.
South Gambier was well in the hunt for the first half against an undermanned North Gambier but in the end, the young Demons faded in the second half to suffer a 22 goal loss.
North was missing key defender Mikaila Pi due to illness and sharpshooter Gracie Po s but Ava Collins stepped into the defensive role and Stella Mobbs took the shooter bib and both applied themselves well and were keypartsofthevictory
South was missing wing defender Tully McShane with experienced campaigner Belinda Scanlon returning to the court to take on the tough challenge of limi ng the influenceofBriannaWalters.
In the absence of Po s, young goal a ack Macey Griffith knew she would have to step up and she upped her output with 25 of North’sfinaltallyof60.
Given Mobbs and Griffith had already combined for a half in the same roles during the 17 & under clash, the duo started strongly, ne ng 17 from 21 in an impressive opening quarter and by the first break North heldafivegoallead.
It was eight at the main break a er a hard fought second quarter with respec ve goal defenders Ellie Bouchier and Noni McConnell crea ng turnover ball and also proving cri cal as link players through the midcourt.
Another strong quarter from the young shoo ng duo in the third saw the lead at 13 and it was a long way back for the Demons who faded in the last, just as they did the previous round against East Gambier, with limited scoring opportuni es that saw the finalmarginblowoutto22.
It was a fi ng victory for the Tigers in star centre Mel Renko’s 150th game for North Gambier, while her opponent Megan Reid more than held her own against the tough compe tor and was South’s best, alongside hardworkingcaptainAlyssaDuncan.
GriffithandMcConnellwerebestforNorth.
East Gambier welcomed back star centre Emily Hunter for her first game as a Bulldog in 2023 and while the reigning Western Border Netball Associa on A Grade best & fairest was certainly influen al, she could not bring victory to her team mates with Millicent returning home with the premiershippoints.
Missing Kimmi Tincknell and Lauren van Eeden,MillicentinjectedNikeishaFaceyinto the defensive circle alongside Por a McRae and the duo developed across the course of the match as they looked to limit East’s scoringopportuni es.
It was a game of accuracy in the end, with Millicent’s Tabatha Sanderson and Demi Verbena combining for a 52 from 59 shoo ng performance, including a perfect 15from15inthesecondquarter
East, on the other hand, had a shakier start before switching on in the second half for a muchimprovedconversionrate.
As the most experienced of the Saints circle defensive duo McRae shone, working hard over the shot, rebounding strongly and also venturing out of the circle for some of her trademark intercep ons, while Sanderson was a rock solid target at the post for the Saints, benefi ng from some great feeding fromVerbena,DaisyTunkinandLilliePaul.
East goal a ack Casey Horrigan’s influence grew across the match and her second half shoo ngaccuracyof11from15ensuredthe score never blew out and the Bulldogs were always in touching distance before going downbyninegoals. Hunter was at her dynamic best through the mid court and her 2021 premiership combina on with Tarsh McCallum looked as promising as ever but in the end, Millicent set up a 14 goal three quarter me advantage and despite losing the last quarter, remainedincontrol.
They might have lost the game but for Casterton Sandford, the clash with the reigning premiers West Gambier was a case
o f m i s s i o n accomplished as they significantly increased their own scoring againsttheRoosintheeventual80-40loss.
TheCatshadbeenblownoutofthewaterby West in the previous two encounters in the opening stanzas but this me they went toe to toe with the champs in an 18-14 quarter thatwasarguablytheirbestoftheseason. To be only trailing by four with Ivy Lane and Madalene Cleary combining well and shoo ngaccurately, thefourgoaldeficitwas hearteningbuttheimpressivestartdidseem tokicktheRoosintooverdrive.
The 24-9 second quarter saw West assert its authority as the defensive end stepped up the pressure and only conceded 10 scoring shots, while offensively, the new look frontline, with Zoe Malseed in centre in the absence of Tara Bryant, started to find its rhythmasWestpiledon24goals.
The match was also the A Grade debut of Ellie Xanthopolous at wing defence with Aleisha Pearson also making her first appearance on the A Grade court in the secondhalfatwinga ack.
As the match wore on, West con nued to build its lead and the final quarter saw an impressive shoo ng performance from the alwaysdominantSarahRi er,whone ed16 from 17, with Lisa McGregor, not only providing most of the goal assists but also notmissingagoalinthatfinalterm.
For the Cats, defender Caeleigh Humphries was again a reless worker who proved disrup ve where possible as well as driving hard through the mid court to help with transi on, while Chloe Foster looks to be making the wing a ack bib her own with a strong couple of rounds in the rela velynew roleforthetalentedgoaler
For West it was the Ri er sisters leading the way – Sarah and Jade – with the reigning tleholders certainly looking ominous with thefinalsfastapproaching.
With only 7 players available, the girls d i s p l a y e d p e r s e v e r a n c e a n d determination as they played six strong 'quarters'. The girls started strong from the first quarter, and this started from the strong defensive effort by Penny, Bella and Zoe who created many turnovers and kept South’s attacking end quiet These wonderful defensive efforts transitioned well to our attacking end where the girls work together to make the most of our opportunities and apply plenty of scoreboard pressure. Lacey fed the ball effectively to Claire who held strong and moved beautifully in goals combining well with Mia. It was another great game bythegirls, keepupthegoodwork.

We are lucky to have such a talented squad of under 15 girls in the A and B teams so when we had two of our A girls away this weekend, Claire, Bella and Mia all played a strong part in our win. This girls managed to gain an early lead in the first quarter and slowly build on this throughout the game Elodie was consistent as always in attack and combine well with Claire and Mischa in goals. It was not our day from the outset. South got the jump on us from the start, and it was downhill from there. We did have some great passages of play from defence to attack and we managed to sink a few good goals. The rotation of Ava, Mileyand Lila seemedimpenetrable in the goal ring for most of the game with quite a few ‘fancy’ shots making it in, adding to the girls already convincing lead. We could not have asked anymore of any of the girls today The smiles on faces at the end of the game listening to the girls pump each other up is every coaches dream. Well doneWesties.

This week we came up against Casterton. These experienced players are always a hard team to beat. Our young westies put up a good fight with some great passages of play Our defenders in Molly Thomas, Ruby Lamb and Chaneil Cowland worked hard to put pressure on the ball and get defections. The transition through the midcourt with Chaneil, Savannah Riddoch and Mackenzie Fisher has improved every week and they were able to feed into our goalies, Hannah Jackson and Isobel Richards. At half time Casterton lead 16-6. Going into the 2nd half saw Harper Linder hit the court at C and Aggie Thomas as GK. Again the girls workedhardtomaintainpossessionandscore.
The last quarter saw Casterton push away to win 40-14. This is 19 goals closer than last time we meet.Welldonegirlskeepworkingatit!!

The girls started off really strong in the first quarter scoring 10 goals. They all moved really well and worked together putting everything that they’ve learnt throughout the season into play Theycontinuedstrongthroughtheotherquarters with the defenders taking intercepts and stopping the Cats from scoring. Thank you to Ruby and Savannahwhohelpedoutthisweek.
