n the occasion of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, held on 25 November, residents of the municipality of Yaiza raised their voices to boost awareness around a southern appeal against this scourge and, thus, to try to eradicate inequality and misogynist violence. In addition to others, the young artist from the municipality of Yaiza,
Verónica Lucía, took the opportunity to release – together with Yaiza Council – the trailer for her song No Más Nadas, a subject that appeals for justice with strong convictions like “Por las que ya no están, por las que sufren en silencio, por las que se han liberado… (for those who are no longer there, for those who suffer in silence, for those who have freed themselves…)”. Por su parte, la asociación feminista de Playa Blanca ‘Mujeres en la ola’ realizó un mural colaborativo en la calle Limones en memoria de todas las víctimas, en el que participaron residentes y turistas dejando su impronta de apoyo a esta lucha en forma de mensajes, dedicatorias, dibujos o firmas. Representantes públicos y trabajadores del Ayuntamiento participaron también del acto simbólico que las instituciones públicas realizan en memoria de las mujeres asesinadas, guardando un minuto de silencio, y que recuerda al mismo tiempo a mujeres y niñas que han conseguido sobrevivir.
