FLIGHT TIME
A technical instrument first and foremost, the pilot’s watch delivers time as quickly and efficiently as possible, but you still want your timepiece to look good. Fortunately, the varied aesthetics from across the watchmaking world provide the perfect piece to suit your style. From simple yet striking to more detailed and complex, the sky’s the limit.
CLASSIC AVI
Breitling mark 70 years of the ‘Co-Pilot’ with the unveiling of three new released of the 42mm Classic AVI. Putting a universal spin on the rugged aviator’s chronograph inspired by the original 1953 Ref. 765 AVI Co-Pilot and four legendary planes, Breitling also surprised collectors with an extremely limited re-edition of a 1964 execution of the AVI Co-Pilot, reviving a classic sporting watch.
The new Classic AVI assortment takes the celebrated design codes established by the 46mm Super AVI and puts them in a 42mm format. The result is a rugged, easy-wearing watch that works for most wrists.
In the 1930s, Breitling’s Huit Aviation Department made its name creating precision cockpit clocks and dedicated wrist chronographs for the then-emerging field of aeronautics. Two decades later, in 1953, Breitling introduced the world to yet another novel flight instrument, the Ref. 765 AVI, a pilot’s chronograph with a rotating 12- hour bezel for recording flight times. The easyto-operate, highly legible watch proved such an indispensable tool for aviators that it was quickly rebranded the AVI “Co-Pilot”.
In 2021, that pioneering pilot’s watch became the inspiration
for the Super AVI, a collection of burly 46mm timepieces that, in their colorways and designs, honour four of history’s greatest aircraft: the North American Aviation P-51 Mustang, the Vought F4U Corsair, the Curtiss P-40 Warhawk, and the de Havilland Mosquito.
“People love the sturdy, understated look of the Super AVI, but not everyone has the wrist to pull off the extra-large size that gives it its authentic tool-watch feel,” says Breitling CEO Georges Kern. “The Classic AVI trades some functions to achieve the pared-down format our customers have been asking for. The Classic and Super models will now live side by side, providing more choice.”
The Classic AVI comes without the GMT complication that gives the Super some of its brawn. The introduction of the Breitling Caliber 23 chronograph movement further trims the profile and makes the Classic AVI attractive from a value perspective as well.
What fans of the range will find unchanged are the colour schemes dedicated to the four legendary aircraft: a black dial and gold brown leather strap to represent the versatile Mustang, a blue dial with black strap in tribute to the naval Corsair, a khaki dial with brown strap for the camouflaged look of the Warhawk, and a

black dial with black ceramic bezel on brown strap to capture the Mosquito plane known roundels and markings add bright touches to the hands and subdials. The planes’ engraved in stainless steel for all models, with an additional 18K red gold version of the Mustang. All can be worn on a choice of top-stitched calfskin leather strap
As a Classic AVI pro tip, scan the dial to locate the “hidden” GPS coordinates the spec stamps that used to appear on vintage cockpit clocks, including the ones made by the Huit Aviation Department. Meanwhile, the 46mm Super AVI assortment gets a bold new addition with the introduction of the black ceramic Mosquito Night Fighter. The Super AVI Mosquito Night Fighter gets its inspo from the Night Fighter 2, an all-black two-seater aircraft meant to slip stealthily through dark livery with a black ceramic case, black military leather strap, and black dial with anthracite subdials. The overall monochrome appearance contrasts strikingly with the titanium pushers, crown, and buckle.
As with all Super AVI, the distinctive design includes large, highly legible Arabic numerals and a sturdy case measuring 46 mm. Its knurled bezel and fluted even while wearing gloves. Pilots and other travellers will appreciate its ability to track a second time zone using the 24-hour scale on the inner bezel and the grey-tipped GMT hand. The engine of the Super Breitling Manufacture Caliber B04 movement, which provides approximately 70 hours of power. The movement is visible through the open titanium caseback, etched with the Night Fighter’s outline.
Rounding out the an extremely limited re-edition of a 1964 execution of the AVI Co-Pilot. The original Ref. 765 AVI, dubbed the Co-Pilot, was a workhorse timepiece designed to serve pilots in the often unforgiving conditions of a single-seat cockpit. Its size, legibility, and ease of use made
By the 1960s, the made it a watch to wear well beyond aviation circles. One particular 765 AVI from 1964, with a black bezel and reverse-panda dial, was a favourite of celebrities and sports stars, including the French skier Jean-Claude Killy, who famously wore it when he won gold in all three alpine skiing events at the 1968 Winter Games. Today, that watch is the subject of an extremely limited re-edition.
Each of the 164 a true-to-the- time hesalite crystal, as well as the baton indexes and lumed pencil hands used on the original. The re-edition also features modern improvements, like the durable amorphous diamond-like carbon (ADLC) coating that gives the bezel its black finish. To preserve B09, a current Breitling manufacture movement that is, appropriately, manual wind. The re-edition’s limitation caseback engraving “One of 164”.
PILOT BIG DATE FLYBACK
Zenith’s fascination with the world of aviation goes as far back as the late 19th century, when the Manufacture’s founder Georges Favre-Jacot believed that mankind was on the verge of finally conquering the skies - and that Zenith should be there alongside the brave pioneers who saw a world of freedom and infinite possibilities far above the horizon. In 1888, Zenith filed a trademark for the French term “Pilote”, followed by the English version “Pilot” in 1904. In the years that followed, Zenith would become one of the preeminent makers of specialized watches and dashboard instruments for pilots. Among the most notable of its countless adopters was Louis Blériot, who made history by making the first flight across the English Channel in 1909. Today, Zenith continues to uphold and build upon this unparalleled heritage with the latest generation of the Pilot collection.
Introducing the Pilot Big Date Flyback, taking the pilot chronograph reference to new heights with a new version of its El Primero 3600 calibre, and a host of new functions that have been specifically conceived for the Pilot.
The Pilot Big Date Flyback comes in two distinct versions, both in a 42.5mm case. The stainless steel version takes a page from one of the most distinguished El Primero Flyback chronographs, the aptly named “Rainbow Flyback”. The chronograph’s minutes totalizer is done in alternating colours to more easily distinguish between the five-minute marks. The
central chronograph seconds as well as the chronograph minutes hands are done in a bright orange tone, another nod to the iconic El Primero Rainbow from 1997. The black ceramic version takes on an achromatic, utilitarian look with luminescent white markers and hands contrasting boldly against the opaline black corrugated dial.
In terms of performance, the new El Primero 3652 automatic high-frequency chronograph calibre integrates two functions to the 5Hz chronograph that are a perfect fit for the Pilot: the big date and the flyback function. Beyond its easy readability, the oversized date display in the Pilot Big Date Flyback features a next-gen patented compliant mechanism that advances and stabilizes both of the big date’s wheels in less than 0.03 seconds. Originally conceived for aviators who wore thick sheepskin gloves, the flyback function allows the chronograph function to be reset to zero and restarted by a single push of a button, simplifying the pilot’s operations and offering the possibility to record consecutive times without stopping. The El Primero chronograph calibre with its “artificial horizon” rotor is visible through the display back. The Pilot Big Date Flyback in ceramic is delivered with black and khaki cordura-effect rubber, while the steel version comes with a black cordura-effect rubber strap and a brown leather strap. All the straps come with an integrated quick-release mechanism for easy swapping without tools.

IWC Schaffhausen celebrates the 75th anniversary of its Mark series and launches two new versions of Mark XX. Harking back to the legendary Mark 11 developed for the British Royal Air Force, the Mark XX is the latest addition to the series. The two stainless steel novelties feature silver- plated dials and complement the colour line-up that already includes blue, green and black dials.
Over 70 years ago, IWC Schaffhausen stood at the forefront of an unprecedented success story when it engineered the Mark 11 for the British Royal Air Force (RAF). This instrument watch for pilots and navigators was not only the start of the legendary Mark series, it also set the benchmark for the technical features and functional instrument design of most modern pilot’s watches. In 2022, IWC introduced the Pilot’s Watch Mark XX as the latest addition to the series. After presenting the model with blue, green and black dials, IWC is now completing the line-up with two silver-plated dial versions. One is fitted with a black calfskin strap, and the other features a high-grade 5-link stainless steel bracelet.
The Pilot’s Watch Mark XX features a 40-millimetre stainless steel case, thoroughly re-engineered with a revised side profile and an improved lug geometry. The slimmer and more curved lugs provide an even better fit on all wrists. The graphics for the numerals and indices on the high-contrast dial have been refined to the smallest detail. Luminescent elements on the dial and the black hands ensure perfect readability in all lighting
IWC MARK XX
conditions. The Pilot’s Watch Mark XX is powered by the IWCmanufactured 32111 calibre. The automatic movement features a silicon escapement and a double pawl winding system, building up a five day power reserve. The front glass is specially secured to remain in place even in the event of a sudden drop in the cockpit.
Another practical feature is the integrated EasX-Change ® system, which lets the wearer change the strap or bracelet quickly and easily without any tools. A wide variety of straps and bracelets are available as accessories, allowing the wearer to customise their timepiece to their liking. The selection ranges from calfskin straps and stainless steel bracelets to durable, flexible and waterproof rubber straps in fresh and vibrant colours. This versatility, combined with the 10-bar water-resistant case, makes the Pilot’s Watch Mark XX a quintessential sports watch.
The new versions of the Pilot’s Watch Mark XX are available immediately through IWC boutiques, authorised retail partners or online at IWC.com. Additionally, they are eligible for registration under the My IWC care program, benefitting from a 6-year extension to the standard 2-year International Limited Warranty.
TYPE XX
Breguet’s Iconic Type XX Timepiece is Reimagined
Enjoying iconic status for nearly 70 years, accompanying the history of aviation - whether on pilots’ wrists as a precision instrument or on those of ordinary amateur enthusiasts fascinated by its legendary qualities.
The new Type XX brings a new momentum, a new generation and an all-new calibre. Four years of preparation preceded the arrival of this new generation of watches, this time, issued in two versions to meet all expectations: one military-inspired and the other drawing on the finest civilian models.
Taking cues from the emblematic first-generation models, Breguet has instilled a contemporary, dynamic and technological spirit into these watches.
For pilots, and more generally for air- crew members, keeping track of time on board an aircraft is a vital necessity. Operations such as measuring flight time or intermediate flight times, monitoring fuel consumption, taking bearings and carrying out manoeuvres all required instruments that watchmakers would render both more accurate and convenient to handle over the years: on-board chronographs and soon thereafter chronograph wristwatches.
A study of the company archives reveals that numerous “special” products - i.e. suited to the particular constraints of the aeronautical environment - were introduced from the 1930s onwards. 19-line aerodrome chronometers in an antimagnetic silver case, split-second chronographs, small 24-line on-board chronometers with a heat-insulated case, a thermostat and lighting, siderometers. All these highly technical timepieces were delivered both to military aviation and to the recently created French national airline, Air France.
In the 1930s, the company was already producing more and more wristwatches with a chronograph function and the postwar period confirmed the trend. The fashion for wrist worn chronographs was launched and has continued unabated ever since.
For pilots, time is so precious when aboard aircraft that it is necessary, for safety reasons, to establish a principle of redundancy. At the time, that meant backing up the chronograph on the instrument panel with another chronograph - and not just any model - strapped to the pilot’s wrist. If one became unusable, the other would take over. This was the whole point of the watchmaking instruments in which Breguet was to become a specialist, notably with the legendary Type XX.
The second-generation Type XX arrived in 1971 and is recognisable by its enlarged polished steel case, thick lugs and black bezel. Available with or without a 12-hour totalizer, it continued to feature a 15-minute counter. Nearly 800 of these timepieces were sold, most of them to civilians; while on
the military side, only 50 pieces were delivered to the Royal Moroccan Air Force. Orders were also placed by Aérospatiale (later Airbus Industries) and purchased by the Presidency of the French Republic as official gifts. The last ones were sold in 1986, spelling the (provisional) end of more than 30 years of a rich history.
After a barely ten-year absence, Type XX enjoyed a revival in 1995 with the appearance of the third generation in the form of Reference 3800 “Aéronavale” (without date) and subsequently Reference 3820 “Transatlantique” (with date). The new Type XX picks up the traditional aviation characteristics: black dial, rotating bezel, “flyback” function, now backed by the convenience of a self-winding movement. Aesthetically, it features a fluted caseband, a somewhat anachronistic legacy of the “historical Breguet” style.
The new Type 20 Chronographe 2057 is inspired by the 1100 delivered to the French Air Force between 1955 and 1959, whose name appeared as Type 20 in Arabic numerals. Its black dial has been modernised while remaining faithful to the Type 20 identity. The Arabic numerals and the triangle on 13 the bezel are luminescent and feature a mint green shade, as do all the hands. The 30-minute totalizer located at 3 o’clock is now larger than the 60-second totalizer displayed at 9 o’clock, and a date window has been added between 4 and 5 o’clock.
The second timepiece, Type 20 Chronographe 2067 is a direct descendant of the finest civilian Type XX from the 1950s and 1960s, notably a model made in 1957 and bearing the individual number 2988. While its dial is black as the 2057, it differs in several respects. First of all, its display: the 15-minute totalizer is located at 3 o’clock, the 12- hour totalizer at 6 o’clock and running seconds at 9 o’clock. Just as in the military-inspired version, the totalizer is sized differently to make the dial both more dynamic and more legible.
These two eagerly awaited new additions to the current collection are delivered in a havana-coloured leather presentation box reminiscent of an aircraft wing. Enabling owners to vary the look according to their personal wishes, the new chronograph is fitted with a calfskin strap along with an additional black NATO strap contained in its case. The rapid interchange 15 system (RIS) of the bracelets has been designed to enable the easy, independent and tool-free removal of the leather strap.
The 42 mm steel case is fitted with a fluted bidirectional graduated bezel. Its classic straight crown enables setting in three positions: 1) neutral, 2) date correction, 3) time setting. The 2 o’clock pusher starts and stops the chronograph functions, while the one at 4 o’clock resets and restarts the chronograph immediately, based on the famous “flyback” principle.

FREELANCER PILOT
Paying tribute to the Maison’s founder, the freelancer Pilot Flyback Chronograph blends mechanical excellence, vintage aesthetics and luxurious details. Mr. Raymond Weil was passionate about watches, music and flying above Switzerland’s picturesque landscape in his beloved plane. Those passions live on in his grandchildren, Elie Bernheim, CEO of Raymond Weil and Pierre Bernheim, Chairman of the Geneva’s Airport board, inspiring the family Brand to develop a new Pilots’ watch.
Housed in a 42mm case, the steel surfaces are coated in grey PVD, providing an elegant and adventurous aesthetic. This vintage aviation theme extends to the onion-shaped crown, a design standard on pilot watches, and the brown leather strap with rivets, reminiscent of those found on aeroplanes. Limited to just 400 pieces, the timepiece’s design celebrates its exclusivity through a distinctive propeller motif engraved on the sapphire case back.
The automatic movement inside the timepiece is the RW5530, a flyback chronograph movement that allows a simultaneous reset and restart of the chronograph with a single pusher and has a 56h power reserve.
This fully integrated movement features a column wheel and horizontal coupling, a configuration highly prized by watch
raymond-weil.co.uk
aficionados. Its column wheel controls the start, stop and reset functions which, in this instance, are thermally-blued, enhancing corrosion resistance and heightening its visual allure. The horizontal coupling indulges the wearer with views of the chronograph engaging and disengaging, a spectacle much loved by mechanical purists. The movement is adorned with perlage and Côtes de Genève motif. The W-shaped oscillating weight, the new horological signature of Raymond Weil, and the blued column wheel are visible through the engraved case back.
Baton style hour and minute hands sit above a deep green dial with applied Arabic numerals. Arrow-shaped indexes at 3 and 9 o’clock pay tribute to pilots’ watches of the past, while the richly textured hour is reminiscent of the tarmac. The hands and hour markers feature Super-LumiNova®, aiding readability in restricted light conditions.
The central chronograph seconds hand is presented in bright yellow, a colour that is repeated on the 30-minute chronograph register. The 2-counter design provides a symmetrical and harmonious layout while the dial is encircled with a crisp white track aiding read-off.
Created in honour of Mr. Raymond Weil and his passion for aviation, this new limited edition will appeal to watch aficionados and aviation enthusiasts alike.
ProPilot Altimeter
In 2014, Oris became the world’s first watch company to introduce a watch that combined an automatic mechanical movement with a mechanical altimeter in a single watch. Now, the innovative ProPilot Altimeter returns in style, with an upgraded altimeter, a slimmer profile and a lightweight case.
Since 1904, Oris has focussed on developing high-functioning watches that deliver realworld value. Having developed more than 280 unique calibres and countless watches in that time, many of them offering pioneering, useful, easy-to-use complications, the brand doesn’t show any signs of slowing down.
The ProPilot Altimeter continued the tradition by accurately relaying the time, air pressure and altitude via a single dialentirely mechanically. Full of innovation, it became a watch pilots, mountaineers, hikers and so-called “watchnerds” aspired to.
Now, after a three-year project, it has been made it even better. The new ProPilot Altimeter has an improved altimeter module, capable of indicating altitude up to 19,700 feet or 6,000 metres (as before, there are two available configurations), where previously the scales topped out at 15,000 feet or 4,500 metres.
The new watch’s case is in lightweight carbon fibre produced using an innovative process developed and perfected by Oris’ partner 9T Labs, a spin-off from the prestigious ETH Zurich
university (Swiss Federal Institute of Technology). It houses Calibre 793, a slimline automatic with an improved 56-hour power reserve that sits inside a case 1mm thinner than the original.
These upgrades make the new ProPilot Altimeter one of the highest performing, most innovative watches we’ve ever created.

SU-MAN EXCLUSIVE
Sofitel London St. James were delighted to announce earlier this year that world-renowned, celebrity spa practitioner and facialist Su-Man has recently brought her unique fusion of Asian wisdom and Western science to facials that have been described as “a lifechanging experience”.
With a passion for wellness and a strong belief in the human body’s ability to selfheal, Su-Man has spent countless years perfecting her craft, training in traditional Chinese massage, Pilates and various healing arts to develop a one-of-a-kind approach to skin care that gives clients the ultimate ‘no-Botox face lift.’ She has an international reputation as a beauty expert.
Previously the personal facialist to the likes of Anne Hathaway and Oscar winning Juliette Binoche and having already had a successful residency in September 2022, Su-Man began her new residency at the hotel this April. Her brand-new treatment, the Digital Damage Resculpt Facial, will be exclusive to the Sofitel London St. James and involves ten-steps, focused on muscle stimulation, exfoliation and rejuvenation. The exclusive Digital Damage Resculpt Facial will be offered in the hotel’s awardwinning spa facility.
Complementing her existing list of revolutionary treatments, this 10-step facial was designed to combat the negative effects of long hours staring down into mobile phones by restoring skin brightness and definition around the neck and face area. Su-Man uses her
FACIAL
unique facial massage techniques combined with electrical muscle stimulation to activate facial muscles, reduce the appearance of a double chin, dropped jawline and sagging skin. The result is an elegant, sculpted, more youthful and radiant looking décolleté and lifted looking complexion.
After a bespoke skin analysis to tailor the facial to your specific needs, Su-man starts by warming up the neck muscles and then double cleansing with steam to remove make-up and sunscreen. Blackheads, whiteheads or pimples are then removed before exfoliation. Electrical muscle stimulation (EMS) is then applied before Su-Man focuses on the digital damage related problem using her unique massage technique. A soothing facial mask is then put in place and Su-Man treats you to a fabulous shoulder and head massage before applying products from her premium, award-winning skincare range. A unique system that harnesses the power of ancient Asian wisdom and cutting-edge cosmetic science.
Described as having the wisdom of ten thousand faces, Su-Man believes ‘beautiful skin happens when different worlds meet’ and her core philosophy is treating skin should be a holistic experience, that it is about connecting the physical, emotional bodies through massage techniques that allows the energy to flow and inevitably, makes the skin glow.
Treatment lasts 70 minutes and costs £350.00. Available Monday to Saturday.

MOROCCAN OPULENCE
Not just one of the finest hotels in Marrakesh, Morocco and Africa, this global big hitter is stepping up its game even further with a culinary addition to match its existing first class reputation. World renowned chef Hélène Darroze joins Royal Mansour to deliver a French feast for guests.
Leading the way in hospitality and style, Royal Mansour Marrakech is one of the most luxurious and exclusive hotels in the world. Boasting 53 private riads - each and every one offering unique design features - fast track service through the airport terminal and luxurious private transfer to the hotel, this is luxury travel at its very finest.
Royal Mansour Marrakech is a Moroccan oasis just a stones throw from the centre of the city providing the perfect location to enjoy both the stunning grounds of the hotel and the vibrant hustle and bustle of Marrakech.
On arrival at the private medina, you are welcomed by countless staff perfectly presented in traditional attire and ready to help with anything and everything you might need. There's no need to worry about your luggage as it is seamlessly whisked away without your knowledge on its way to your Riad before you've even set foot inside the incredible lobby. Check-in is as equally seamless and you are on your way to your new home in no time.
As you meander through the perfectly curated and cultivated alleyways and gardens to your riad, you lose yourself in another world of peace and tranquility with little more than bird song in the air. Vast green doors present themselves proudly against the terracota buildings along the way, a hint of what's to come once
you reach your destination. When you reach your riad, you can finally reveal what awaits you behind your very own gargantuan green door.
An inviting courtyard with views all the way up through your three-story riad is finished with beautiful tiles complete with a seating area to relax to the soft sound of running water from your accompanying fountain. This initial snapshot into the wonders beyond is more than enough to peak your anticipation with nothing left than to step inside and explore the fascinating interior your riad affords.
Opulence and luxury are beautifully blended with tradition to create an unimaginably inviting, vibrant and surprising style. Traditional antique furniture is paired with modern technology and perfectly finished bathrooms to provide an unrivalled interior space. Up on the top of your riad sits another pleasant surprise, a rooftop terrace complete with your very own sun loungers and plunge pool. These vary in size dependant on the level of riad you choose, but the 'entry level' Superior Riad is more than sufficient for a couple to while away the time with butler service on hand to bring any refreshments you might desire.
Soak up the morning Moroccan sun - just don't stay too long as it is sure to heat up, significantly - for breakfast al fresco or enjoy

an evening under the stars with that special someone. Why not indulge yourself with a private yoga session on the roof before making the most of everything else the hotel and Marrakech has to offer.
Should you choose to stay in the pinnacle Grand Riad which boasts 1,800 square metres of absolute opulence, you can enjoy your very own private entrance via an olive tree patio and whole lot more. A stunning central patio with retractable roof welcomes you into the riad with views directly through to the private pool and landscaped gardens while the dining room, bar, billiards room and professional kitchen are all set to host an evening of hospitality with your own private chef and personal butler service.
To the first floor you will find the expansive master bedroom, two additional guest bedrooms and a lounge that can be converted into a further bedroom. Each distinctly refined in their style and offering luxurious comfort for you and your guests. However, it's
the roof terrace that really makes this already impressive riad stand out. A total of three terraces with solarium boast a tented lounge, dining room, private hammam, fitness room, home cinema, outdoor shower, mini bar and of course, separate convenience. Your riad - whatever the level you choose - offers so much space and varied areas that you would be excused for not leaving the luxurious confines of it, however, there is much to see and do throughout the rest of the grounds, not least the truly stunning pool. Bequeathed with great Arab-Andalusian tradition, Le Jardin pays tribute to the palm grove to which the Royal Mansour owes its being. An extension, unveiled in spring 2021, includes a herb garden, an organic vegetable orchard, private elevated dining space and an artist’s residence, 'Atelier d’Artiste' - where you can enjoy an Art Therapy workshop exploring your creativity from art to pottery and even dance, taking you on a journey of discovery in both subject area and self.
royalmansour.com
Le Jardin delivers a host of varied areas where you can relax and unwind in secluded green spaces enjoying the soft trickle of water that runs throughout as an integral irrigation system or indulge in a day by the pool in one of the stunning pavilions where you can sit back with endless refreshment dipping a toe or two in the pool when the intense Marrakech sun gets a little too much.
Just a stone's throw from the pool sits Restaurant Le Jardin where you can enjoy al fresco dining in this open-air space with Asian and Mediterranean-influenced cuisine based on sharing, creativity and surprise.
Step out of the manicured gardens and you will find another new addition, an incredibly appointed demonstration kitchen where you can engage in a brand-new series of culinary workshops which promises thorough lessons in Moroccan and Italian gastronomy, from citrusy chicken tagine to remarkable ravioli.
You can also enjoy the same Italian flavours at restaurant Sesamo, created in 2019 by three Michelin-starred chef Massimiliano Alajmo, who is the youngest chef in the world to earn 3 Michelin stars.
The biggest of the culinary delights at Royal Mansour Marrakech however is reserved for the newly launched La Grand Brasserie and La Grand Table Marocaine which are now overseen by renowned Michelin-starred chef Hélène Darroze. Taking the helm and bringing her depth of knowledge and expertise to the hotel for the first time, this is sure to be a long-standing partnership

"The common point between a grand Parisian brasserie and a palace of Arabian nights such as Le Royal Mansour is the theatrical dimension which takes you to another world." Hélène Darozze
that will push the culinary offering of the hotel to new heights.
Delivering classically French flavours to La Grand Brasserie throughout the day and a unique take on Moroccan cuisine at La Grand Table Marocaine, you can be sure to indulge yourself in a delicious meal that will not leave you wanting.
Inspired by the lavish décor of the Royal Mansour, the idea of turning the restaurant into a true gastronomical theatre came to Darozze and consequently, throughout each service, her team of chefs, pastry chefs and waiters will share unique moments with guests. A privileged encounter during which a story will be told around a simple yet high quality cuisine in typically French fashion. Masterfully performed service, table side carving and flambéing, along with a bread trolley, and ice cream trolley will catch diners eyes before the stunning dishes do.
A different dish will be offered daily during the lunch service, with Sunday reserved for chicken, a traditionally French affair.
Once you've had your fill of French feasting, you might need to take some time out and there is no better place at Royal Mansour Marrakech than the truly beautiful spa.
Accessed through a private citrus grove, the three-story, 2,500sqm spa is the crown jewel on property with an elaborate white birdcage atrium bathed in natural light, the perfect welcome to a world of relaxation. CHAMPAGNE & SEAFOOD A Classic Combination
There is a reason why Champagne and seafood has long been a go to pairing. Champagne adds a layer of elegance to a seafood meal and when perfectly paired, a glass of Champagne can elevate any fish dish. The summer months are the ideal time to test these combinations with trips to the seaside, garden parties and holidays abroad offering ample opportunity for fresh seafood and Champagne. As such, the Champagne Bureau UK* shares its top tips on how to pair seafood with a range of Champagne styles.
The Food and Wine of Prestige
Freshness is unsurprisingly crucial when it comes to enjoying lobster and Champagne. As such, a vintage Blanc de Blancs would be an excellent choice. Vintage champagnes are matured for a minimum of three years but are usually matured for four to ten and exhibit nutty and toasted aromas, as well as honey and stewed fruits. The calibre of these wines and the complexity bought to them by ageing, makes them a wonderful companion to delicacies such as lobster.
Oysters and Umami
Umami is the key to this classic pairing. To some people’s surprise, umami flavours can be found in both oysters and Champagne. The levels of umami in Champagne are not evident on their own, however, when consumed with oysters an ‘umami synergy’ occurs – making the pairing particularly enticing. We would pair our oysters with a Brut Nature – this refers to a Champagne that has less than three grams of sugar per litre and no extra sugar added. A Brut Nature is distinctly crisp with light fruit flavours and floral hints and is an exquisite choice with fresh oysters.
Smoked Salmon
Smoked salmon and Blancs de Blancs make for a match made in heaven. This style is the epitome of refinement and freshness and works perfectly with smoked salmon in any form. However, we would always choose a classic smoked salmon blini with a herby crème fraiche and a squeeze of lemon. The subtle flavours of the blinis can still shine alongside the crispness of the Blanc de Blancs.
An Alternative Way to Enjoy Champagne
Fish and chips might not be the first thing that comes to mind when you think of pairing Champagne. However, this British seaside classic, just like Salmon is excellent with an 100% Chardonnay Blanc de Blancs. Blended exclusively from white grapes, Blanc de Blancs possess notes of white flowers, citrus fruits and apples, pears and spices which will cut through the batter and make your fish and chips feel much lighter.

No frills driving is becoming more rare by the month with the introduction of new technologies to 'aid' driving throughout the car industry regardless of the market segment and of course, the ever closer shift to fully electric motoring. Thankfully, there are still a handful of 'old school' machines to enjoy...for now.
GR86
Joining the GR Supra and GR Yaris, the GR86 completes the trio of sport focussed models from the Japanese marque. An evolution of the GT86, this is a car that sees improvements across the board, from power to handling in order to create a dynamic, enjoyable car for the road and track.
Maintaining the horizontally opposed 'boxer' engine configuration, capacity is increased to 2.4-litres for the GR variant with every aspect of the engine optimised for improved performance without sacrificing any additional space or weight. In order to achieve this, the bore diameter has been increased from 86 to 94mm in the naturally aspirated unit.
Power has increased from 200 to 234PS supported by an increase of 45Nm in torque taking it to 250Nm at just 3,700rpm compared to the previous 6,600rpm meaning a much earlier power delivery affording a smoother and more powerful acceleration. As a result, the zero to sixty-two time is inevitably quicker, shaving over a second off the time now achievable in 6.3 seconds when paired with the manual transmission - the only transmission of
choice when it comes to this car. If you would prefer one less pedal and less enjoyable experience, opt for the 6-speed automatic and achieve the same in 6.9 seconds.
As you're accelerating you can enjoy the satisfying growl released from the very apparent exhaust system which offers improvements of its own. Accommodating the larger displacement and higher output, the system has also received improved heat management and vibration performance.
Supporting the excitable tone is the close-ratio manual transmission which adds not only a significant amount of joy to your drive, but also control with a pleasurable short shifting gear lever and smoother shifts. The high revving (7,500rpm) engine allows for even more audible satisfaction.
Everything in the construction and setup of the powertrain has been optimised to offer the lowest centre of gravity possible with both the positioning and materials used helping. Working alongside the use of adapted materials throughout the rest of the vehicle maximising the cars handling potential.
toyota.co.uk
Continuing and building on the legacy of the GT86, this car maintains the ethos of front engine/rear-wheel drive drivetrain with a distinct focus on driver gratification and it delivers by the bucket-load.
Superb handling has been a hallmark of GT86 since its introduction in 2012, and has been pushed to an even higher level with GR86. Delivering the driving pleasure expected, this is a thrill ride that does exactly what you want it to do, when you want it to do it.
To enable this, the chassis and body have been reworked with the use of light but high-strength materials to provide extra rigidity while reducing weight, and the addition of reinforcements in key areas. Diagonal cross-members have been added at the front between the suspension and car's frame reducing lateral bending as well as an internal diagonal frame in the bonnet which combined
increase the front body lateral rigidity by a staggering 60 per cent.
At the rear, the upper and lower chassis has been connected with a ring structure and, as at the front, new fasteners link the frame and suspension mounts to give better handling under the G-forces generated when cornering. As a result, a continuous frame structure has been created giving an overall body rigidity increase of 50 per cent.
Combined with the same structural suspension setup as the GT86 - front independent MacPherson struts and rear double wishbones - the GR86 recieves performance tuning for an even higher level of response and stable handling. The shock absorber damping and coil spring characteristics have been optimised throughout to give the car planted, predictable handling and it is noticable on the road. The car is poised and consistent in its cornering and is lightning fast to react to steering input.

TOYOTA GR86
This is largely thanks to the new electric power steering system (EPS) which requires just 2.5 turns of the three-spoke steering wheel to move from lock to lock, offering easy manoeuvrability. The EPS has a new column-mounted integrated motor that is both smaller and lighter, while also improving the cars responsiveness and “light” handling.
All of this performance requires an equal and opposite method of stopping and thankfully the GR86 boasts ventilated disc brakes to the front and rear, with 294 and 290mm diameters respectively, complete with optimised brake pad friction material. The floormounted, lever-type parking brake also remains, perfectly suited to the cars 'performance profile'. The system which features ABS, brake assist, traction control, vehicle stability control (VSC) and hill-start assist control as standard delivers responsive, sharp and precise stopping power allowing you to maximise the performance of the car whether on the road or on track.
The VSC offers five different modes to choose from dependent on your preference and driving conditions including 'sport' which deactivates VSC support and turns off traction control, providing you with the raw driving pleasure the GR86 is able to deliver.
A simple, driver focussed interior cabin has been specifically created with driver and driving at the fore. Ergonomically designed for a comfortable yet athletic driving experience with a low set
bucket seat and short gear lever for those quick shifts in easy reach, the race-style drivers position is perfectly suited to the car and its abilities.
This isn't a car built to be the most luxurious of road-going machines, but it achieves exactly what it has set out to do, and that is deliver a true driving experience that is so rare to come by in modern motoring. A raw, tactile experience that puts the driver fully in control without the need for endless electronics to aid your actions. Saying that, there are a number of safety and support features should you wish to take some time out from full-on driving and relax with some creature comforts such as adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning and pre-collision brake assist.
You can also enjoy the easy to use, functional eight-inch touchscreen infotainment system which offers everything from Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto® to the convenient reversing camera display. This is paired with a drivers seven-inch multiinformation display that adapts depending on your drive mode and desired visible information. When in Track mode, an entirely different display appears, featuring a central bar displaying the engine rpm as well as the selected gear, speed and oil and water temperatures - the essentials when on track - aiding you to execute even more accurate and efficient shift timing to shave those extra seconds off your lap time.
toyota.co.uk
Toyota have also thought about getting to and from the track, developing the storage capacity to accommodate a full set of wheels in the rear with the back seats folded, allowing you to swap out for your racing set once you arrive and return to your road set when you've had your fill of thrill.
Outside, the GR86 delivers everything you would expect from a car of this calibre. Its low profile, dual rear exhaust and sleek yet sharp lines provide an athletic aesthetic perfectly suited to its performance potential. The two-door coupe design packs a serious Japanese punch that is well positioned to receive some serious aftermarket modification should you choose.
This car has been developed and created specifically with that in mind. Every aspect of the cars cosmetics is primed and ready for adaptation to suit your style, but you don't need to worry about what's underneath. The engineering is prep'ed and ready for action whether you plan on taking it to the track or just enjoying the open road.
Sharp, precise and responsive with the added pleasure of being able to take full control, this is a car for driving enthusiasts and those looking for a weekend or track car that can be enjoyed to its full potential alike. Driver focussed with a lively performance profile to match, there are few cars you can find on the market today that can offer this level of driving pleasure and certainly one that you can drive to and from the track yourself without sacrificing your tyres!

Pininfarina Peugeot
The cabriolet iteration of this mid-sized, front-engine, rearwheel drive Peugeot received design treatment from one Franco Martinengo of Pininfarina, and it shows. A fantastic looking car with flowing lines from front to rear along with a subtle yet distinguished air intake on the bonnet, the Peugeot 504 Cabriolet
is not a car to be found regularly on the road.
This example is an even rarer sight as it is a right-hand drive version from the already limited production run of just over 8000 cabriolets that left the production line. Featuring the 2.0-litre injection engine, this example from 1974 is displayed in beautiful metallic champagne with a black leather interior.
The car is showing just under 64,000 miles with just one owner for the last 29 years and received a restoration circa 20 years ago with an additional engine rebuild circa just 1500 miles ago at 62,414 miles with the invoice showing all of the works carried out.
Not only has it undergone these substantial works, but it has enjoyed circa £4,000 spent this year including re-wiring, clutch slave cylinder, brake refurbishment, exhaust, underseal, cylinder head exhaust manifold and general mechanical re-commissioning to create the incredible example you see. As a result, it drives as a well-sorted and restored example should. A very rare opportunity to purchase a classic Peugeot 504 Cabriolet in such good condition that is not to be missed.
Whether its redecorating, rearranging or adding furniture, cleaning or accessorising, the aim of home staging is to present a property in the best possible light - and according to Charlotte Hodges-Peck of Savills Interior Services, these short term makeovers are on the rise.
“The number of enquiries for home staging in the first quarter of 2023 were up by 10% versus the same period in 2022, and up 30% more than in 2021. This is largely driven by clients wanting to elevate their homes, especially when it comes to photography, videography and the overall appeal.
First impressions count and so an inviting scene makes it far easier for someone to buy into a lifestyle.
Not only can a well-presented space draw buyers in from the moment they begin their online search, it can encourage offer to be made and ultimately contribute to a quick sale. In fact, 30% of properties staged in the first quarter of this year were under offer within a week of marketing, and 85% under offer within four weeks.
Another advantage is that it can help house hunters differentiate one property from another, particularly in the initial stages of a search. We are increasingly finding that buyers at the upper end of the market want something they haven’t seen before which is why our clients are leaning away from neutral ‘one look’ interior designs.
Today prime properties have so much to offer from bars, spas and pools to cinema rooms, dog showers and tack rooms, so it’s about accentuating what you have to catch the eye and get people talking.”
If you’re thinking of staging your home, here are a few top tips:
HOME STAGING
1. Keep furniture and accessories in line with the property’s style, location and, ultimately, the lifestyle it offers but also think about incorporating statement pieces such as a glamorous headboard, some art work or a feature wall to help your home stand out.
2. Accentuate the positives. You can have some fun here. For example, if I were staging a home with a cinema or TV room, I’d add some gourmet popcorn, some cosy throws and perhaps a bar cart to really emphasise the theme.
3. Target multiple senses. While a viewing is obviously about what you see, it’s also about the whole experience. Candles and rooms diffusers create muscle memory and can be a great way to keep your property front of mind. If you’re dressing your home during the warmer months try incorporating light floral scents and natural fabrics, like cotton and linen. During the winter months, earth tomes and fireside scents work better.
4. Dress your property for the buyer’s or tenant’s needs. For example, if you have four or more bedrooms consider staging one as a study or office. If not, could your landing accommodate a desk? This can really pay off as having a dedicated work from home space remains in demand.
5. Including branded goods such as luxury soaps and accessories can be appealing. But there’s no need to go overboard or pay a fortune. Pitch them at the right level and position subtly. Here, less can be more and it’s about matching or complementing a lifestyle, rather than the brand names themselves.
6. You don’t need to do the whole house. Focus on the ‘decision maker’ rooms such as the entrance hall and the rooms in which people spend the majority of their time.
7. If you are opting to have your property professionally dressed, you can do this for a fixed period and, again, just concentrate on key rooms which is a great option for those looking for a shortterm, but effective solution.
POSITIVE ENERGY
with Julia Kendell from Kendell + Co.Julia is an interior designer for the London Homebuilding & Renovating Show (22-24 September, ExCeL) sharing her expert tips and ideas to help you create your dream interior. This month is all about creating good energy in your home for the Summer months ahead.
As the summer months approach, it's the perfect time to revitalize your living space and infuse it with positive energy. Whether you're looking to maximize daylight, incorporate biophilic principles, or simply add vibrant touches to your decor, these tips will help you create a fresh and inviting atmosphere for the season. So, roll up your sleeves, get ready to declutter, and let's dive into the world of summer home decoration.
Maximizing Daylight: The first step in embracing the summer vibes is to maximize the natural light in your home. Start by cleaning your windows to ensure they allow for an unobstructed view. Remove heavy drapes or replace them with sheer curtains that let the sunlight filter through. Position mirrors strategically to reflect light and make your space appear more expansive. Consider rearranging furniture to avoid blocking windows and create a clear path for sunlight to flow into the room.
Biophilic Principles: Embracing nature and biophilic design is a wonderful way to enhance the positive energy in your home. Bring the outdoors in by incorporating plants and greenery throughout your living spaces. Opt for easy-to-care-for varieties like spider plants, pothos, or succulents. Not only do they purify the air, but they also add a touch of freshness to any room. Additionally, consider introducing natural materials such as wood, stone, or bamboo into your decor. These elements create a sense of grounding and connection to the earth.
Swapping Out Cushions and Soft Furnishings: Say goodbye to winter hues and welcome the summer with vibrant, sun-inspired
tones. Swap out your dark or neutral-colored cushions, throws, and rugs for ones in bright, cheerful shades. Opt for this year’s trend colours of, oranges, blues, or blush/plaster tones to infuse your space with energy and warmth. Don't be afraid to mix and match patterns or experiment with mismatching prints for an added touch of playfulness. These small changes can instantly transform the mood of a room.
Declutter: A clutter-free environment is essential for a positive and energizing home. Take the opportunity to declutter and organize your living space, room by room. Start with the areas that tend to accumulate the most clutter, such as countertops, entryways, and closets. Clear out items you no longer need or use, and find designated storage solutions for the essentials. unSPIRAL CELLAR
The UK’s leading purveyor of luxury wine storage has launched a ground breaking new wine storage system putting a new spin on their renowned spiral cellars. Their new UnSpiral Cellar brings innovation that promises to usher in a complete new era of wine cellaring, offering an unprecedented design flexibility that makes the product as suited to a contemporary new build as it is to a traditional, period property,
This innovation is composed of a range of 38 ready-made and inter-changeable modular pieces, which can be arranged to create countless design configurations. The flexibility allows clients to design and arrange the modules themselves (or Spiral Cellars can do it for them) to create a storage configuration that best suits them, their space and their cellaring needs. Modules can be used to
create a stunning under-the-stair wine showcase, stacked to create a full height wine wall running the length of an entire room, or simply placed side by side to create a small furniture style piece - the possibilities are endless. Regardless of how it is configured, the UnSpiral Cellar is sure to turn any room, basement, garage, or even unused cupboard into the ultimate wine showcase.
Made from the same limestone concrete that the company uses to produce their iconic underground Spiral Cellars, the UnSpiral Cellar is a great value alternative to traditional timber. Whilst the UnSpiral is suited to ambient storage, it can also be fitted with climate control, making it a sure fire hit with serious wine collectors who want the same aesthetic and professional cellaring conditions of an underground cellar - but without having to dig down.
