Ensayo Lumínico

Rafel Egea transforma la luz. Utiliza las tendencias fundamentales de la naturaleza que se detectan a través de la cámara. Se apropia de la materia orgánica relativamente simple, que al pasar por sus lentes resultan en sustancias más complejas. En el universo orgánico, la tendencia es conservadora y la variación es revolucionaria. Egea ilumina esta transformación estética encontrando la belleza en la simplicidad. Los detalles de las formas naturales son la fuente de inspiración y creación de la naturaleza propia del artista. De una forma kantiana, Rafel nos enseña el papel esencial de la belleza natural. Pero a la vez, Rafel transforma lo natural con sus sutiles transparencias y así se acerca al concepto Hegeliano: “La belleza artística es superior a la natural, pues esta, es producto del espíritu”. Egea nos hace sumergirnos en una inequívoca reconciliación entre diferencias reales y la unidad real, escondida en el todo. Los organismos vivos retratados por su objetivo, asimilan las condiciones del mundo exterior de diversas formas. Tal asimilación de las condiciones exteriores y su transformación en condiciones interiores (creación artística), esta absorción y digestión del mundo exterior, son una de las características esenciales de las fotografías de Rafel. Retrata, con una visión sublime, la vida de la naturaleza, la suma de una serie de cambios formales casi imperceptibles a simple vista. Valida con su visión las palabras de Goethe sobre la exaltación de la naturaleza: “Cambia eternamente y no conoce ni un solo instante de inmovilidad. No tiene noción del reposo y maldice todo lo estático…”. Gracias a los ensayos lumínicos de Rafel Egea, podemos ver revelada la belleza natural que está presente en el todo. Transparencias, contrastes, juegos de sombra y luz, oscuridad y vida. Trabajando mayoritariamente en el anochecer otoñal, Rafel consigue extraer la luz hacia fuera del objeto (Como se ha podido condensar tanta luz en un lugar tan oscuro - Tanizaki). Light essay

Rafel Egea transforms light. He uses the fundamental tendencies of nature that are detected through the camera. He appropriates the relatively simple organic matter, which while passing through his lenses results in more complex substances. In the organic universe, the trend is conservative and the variation is revolutionary. Egea illuminates this aesthetic transformation by finding beauty in simplicity. The details of the natural forms are the source of inspiration and creation of the artist’s own nature. In a Kantian way, Rafel teaches us the essential role of natural beauty. But at the same time, Rafel transforms the natural with its subtle transparencies and thus approaches the Hegelian concept: “The artistic beauty is superior to the natural one, because it is the product of the spirit”. Egea makes us immerse ourselves in an unequivocal reconciliation between real differences and real unity, hidden in the whole. The living organisms portrayed by his objective, assimilate the conditions of the external world in different ways. Such assimilation of the external conditions and their transformation into interior conditions (artistic creation) this absorption and digestion of the external world, are one of the essential characteristics of Rafel’s photographs. It portrays, with a sublime vision, the life of nature, the sum of a series of formal changes almost imperceptible to the naked eye. Validates with his vision Goethe’s words about the exaltation of nature: “It changes forever and does not know a single moment of immobility. He has no notion of rest and curses everything static ... “. Thanks to the light trials of Rafel Egea, we can see the natural beauty that is present in the whole. Transparencies, contrasts, games of shadow and light, darkness and life. Working mainly in the autumn evening, Rafel manages to extract the light out of the object (How it has been able to condense so much light in such a dark place - Tanizaki). Serie Luz Vegetal

Lo que vemos ya está en nosotros: ideas primitivas a través de nuestra moderna experiencia. Es algo real y existente en nuestro imaginario primigenio, una afinidad espiritual con las formas arcaicas y con las emociones que éstas generan, que nos arrastra irresistiblemente a la fantasía. Es la materia simbólica de la que está cargado nuestro subconsciente, aquella que la conciencia olvida, pero que el hombre revive sin cesar en un ciclo sin fin. El arte es intemporal y las imágenes, como una forma de ilustrar sueños, anulan el tiempo cada vez que repiten el arquetipo del centro. Las simetrías, como fuerzas poderosas, nos recuerdan la irresistible belleza del Universo. Estamos creados de la misma materia de la que está compuesto el mundo, somos la misma luz.

What we see is already in us: primitive ideas through our modern experience. It is something real and existing in our primal imaginary, an spiritual affinity with the archaic forms and with the emotions that these generate, that drag us irresistibly to fantasy. It’s the symbolic stuff our subconscious is loaded with, the one that the consciousness forgets, but that the man revives without cease in an endless cycle. Art is timeless and images, as a way to illustrate dreams, cancel out the time each time they repeat the archetype of the center. The symmetries, like powerful forces, they remind us of the irresistible beauty of the Universe. We are made from the same matter of which the world is composed, we are the same light. Lidia Carrera

Rafel Egea

Nace en 1962 en Manresa, Cataluña. Vive actualmente en Sant Just Desvern y realiza la mayor parte de su trabajo fotográfico en el Parque Natural del Montseny, donde la naturaleza es la gran protagonista. Utiliza como medio para su obra la riqueza de la biosfera de este lugar, captando con su objetivo lo que no se ve a simple vista. En el año de 2017 fue finalista del premio de fotografía de la Fundación Vila Casas. Su mayor inspiración es el mundo natural. Busca un universo paralelo dentro de su propia realidad interior. Inicialmente, trabaja buscando luz, bordes de colores, reflejos en el agua, chispas en la oscuridad. Pero después ha estado trabajando directamente en la materia, capturando el toque mágico de la naturaleza. Fotografía transparencias frágiles y delicadas como buscando atravesar la anatomía de la naturaleza. Esta termina reflejando sus propios sentimientos y las imágenes que salen reflejan su espíritu. Durante mucho tiempo trabajó principalmente de noche, pero luego se dio cuenta de que la cantidad limitada de luz era una carga para su mirada. Entonces comenzó a trabajar al anochecer, allí se podía capturar una luz muy especial. Su trabajo es el trabajo de transformar lo que ve en algo delicado, sublime y sutil, la transformación misteriosa de lo sólido a lo translúcido.

Born in 1962, in Manresa, Catalonia. He currently lives in Sant Just de Esvern and does most of his photographic work in the Montseny Natural Park, where nature is the main protagonist. He uses as enviroment for his work the richness of the biosphere of this place, capturing with his objective that is not seen with the naked eye. In the year of 2017 he was a finalist of the photography prize of the Vila Casas Foundation. His greatest inspiration is the natural world. Searches a parallel universe within his inner reality. Initially, worked looking for light, edges of colors, reflections in the water, sparks in the dark. But then he has been working directly on the subject, capturing the magical touch of nature. He photographs fragile and delicate transparencies as if looking to traverse the anatomy of nature. It ends up reflecting his own feelings and the images that come out reflect his spirit.

For a long time he worked mainly at night, but then he realized that the limited amount of light was a burden to his eyes. Then he started working at dusk, when he could capture a very special light. His work is the work of transforming what he sees into something delicate, sublime and subtle, the mysterious transformation from the solid to the translucent. 29
