The phrase warmth of a home brings visions of coziness, joy and beauty all at once. It also indicates the versatility of homes. Each home has a story of their own. It is the families and individuals who live there and add the color and shine to the brick and mortar that gives it a home accent. Designers aid and abet this process through the art and science of spatial management. A large part of The Design Source gallery caters to this residential segment. In this issue we have a special collection of homes of differing sizes and shapes and outlook. There is Garden with a House, built with the prime focus on the landscape around it. The home is incidental in the sense that it actually flows from and to the gardens around. Ar Hiren Patel excels in bringing nature to the hearth of the home. Atelier Design & Domain (ADND) take us through their story of creating a house which is designed to display the arts and sensibilities of those living in it. We also have a house by Ar Sudiksha Parekh Patel which brings in the old and young to live in togetherness. While The Motif House by Archana Kejriwal displays the glamour of the home owners in her project. And finally there is the Little Big House which is a seamless house without clear cut demarcations, which can transform its spaces according to the needs of those who live in it. In our non residential segment we bring you the very interesting transformation and conversion of an old dilapidated watch factory into a boutique Montessori and a Kindergarten. Our robust product gallery in turn brigs you some of the most recent and latest innovations and product launches to make the dream homes a reality.

The Garden with a House
We have different kinds of houses on display. We have shown houses with gardens, we have shown houses with a beautiful view of a garden, but here we display a garden and a landscape with a house. The prime focus of this project is the landscape. The house is really incidental and blends with this landscape.
It is a climate oriented house plan. It has a summer garden and a winter garden. Here the plan form is that of a “Z”. This creates two garden spaces on south side and north side. The south side garden is designed like a “forest” to help tree plantations to create shadows on the building. This garden gets sun in morning till late evening, and thus is ideal to use in winter. The north side garden has more lawn area. The shadow of building engulfs it in afternoon and evening. Creating green and cool shaded spaces which add bliss to the scorching summer months.

Flowers & Stars
lights by Petra Krausova Flowers and bright stars a reflection of the night sky - Petra Krausova’s light installation. LASVIT designer Petra Krausova, created a dynamically-lit sculpture titled Cassia that draws its inspiration from the universe and its star-studded sky, as well as the organic shapes of flowers in a meadow, gently moving in the breeze. The sculpture consists of a group of smaller pendants, approximately 15 cm in diameter, each made of hand-blown glass. Every individual pendant represents a flower or a star, depending upon how we observe them. Each takes on a slightly different shape thanks to the use of optical form that allows glass to expand in its open areas. Variations are further enhanced by the monochromatic color scheme that differs in textures from clear glass, sanded and opaque glass, to pendants with hand-painted gold segments.
