Fault: DPF Light flashing on Instrument Panel Cluster. Fault Codes: P1336 - Camshaft Crankshaft sensor range performance PCM - Engine Control Module Symptoms: timing chain rattle on vehicle start up. Possible Causes: timing chain could be stretched or has become loose. Repair Steps: 1. Connect DrivePro device a. Read out DTC for engine. b. If P1336 is set and DPF light flashing while the engine is running check timing chain. 2. Remove valve cover: once valve cover is removed, the timing chain, camshaft gears and valve train are exposed. 3. Check tension on the timing chain: check the timing chain for any slack by pushing on the chain on the tension side. No slack should be felt.
4. If any slack is felt, then the timing chain kit will need to be replaced. It is advisable to replace the oil pump chain at the same time.
