Isa Baza Public Information Officer Department of Education
Isa Baza is the spokesperson and head of communications at the Guam Department of Education (GDOE). In her role, she works closely with the Superintendent of Education, GDOE management team, and serves as a liaison to the Joint Information Center and various government agencies. She manages internal and external communication for the department by facilitating TV and radio interviews, managing local media relations, issuing press releases and overseeing crisis communications. Working closely with the Foundation for Public Education, she spearheads the Teacher of the Year program. She also currently serves as the communications chair for the District School Readiness Task Force, which was tasked with reopening schools in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic. Prior to joining the Guam Department of Education, Isa worked as a TV news reporter and anchor with KUAM News. While at KUAM, she covered topics including education, healthcare, military affairs, environment and regional security. She was featured in national and international media including CNN, BBC, MSNBC and Fox News. She also hosted and produced the show “Health Home and Lifestyle,” which aired weekly on TV8 and TV11. Isa is currently pursuing her Juris Doctorate degree from the Mitchell Hamline School of Law in St. Paul, MN, and is expected graduate in January 2021. She has experience working in the legal field at both the GDOE Legal Division and at Blair, Sterling, Johnson & Martinez. Isa received her Bachelor of Arts degree in International Studies and English from the University of Miami in Florida. In her free time, she enjoys reading, traveling, running and yoga.
