Rodalyn May A. Gerardo Chief Auditor Guam Memorial Hospital Authority
Rodalyn May A. Gerardo serves as the Chief Auditor at our island’s only public hospital, the Guam Memorial Hospital Authority (GMHA) since March 2019. As the head of the Internal Audit Office, Rodalyn provides independent, objective assurance and consulting services designed to add value and improve GMHA’s operations. Rodalyn began her audit career in 2002 as one of the Office of Public Accountability’s (OPA) first interns while completing her last semester at the University of Guam (UOG). OPA hired her as a staff auditor in January 2003 and she successfully climbed OPA’s ranks from Auditor I, Auditor II, Auditor III, Chief Auditor / Audit Supervisor, and Special Assistant / Audit Supervisor. Rodalyn was with the OPA for over 15 years and was the second most senior member of OPA’s management team. Rodalyn was instrumental in formulating and shaping OPA into the reputable audit organization that it is today. She has supervised numerous audits as well as provided guidance to her audit teams, resulting in the issuance of quality audits in compliance with Government Auditing Standards. Rodalyn’s interest in technology earned her a role as one of OPA’s TeamMate champions, and she was instrumental in the successful implementation of the automated audit management software in 2015. Rodalyn diligently worked on revamping OPA’s performance audit templates and successfully deployed the new TeamMate templates by October 2017, ahead of schedule. She also oversaw OPA’s Information Technology and Legislative Mandates committees. Rodalyn holds six professional designations: Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), Certified Government Financial Manager (CGFM), Certified Government Auditing Professional (CGAP), Chartered Global Management Accountant (CGMA), and Certified Internal Control Auditor (CICA). She is a member of the Association of Government Accountants (AGA), American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA), Guam Society of Certified Public Accountants (GSCPA), and Institute for Internal Controls (IIC). Rodalyn has served in several leadership positions in the Association of Government Accountants (AGA), from Treasurer, President-Elect, and President, to Education Committee chairperson and co-chairperson of various subcommittees.
