Firefighter I Andrew Lee serves in the Search and Rescue Bureau of the Guam Fire Department. Lee was born and raised in Anigua, Guam and is a graduate of John F. Kennedy High School. He enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in June 1999 and served with the First Marine Expeditionary Force, Camp Pendleton, California. In support of Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraq Freedom, Lee completed multiple deployments in Asia and the Middle East. Throughout the course of his service, Lee received multiple awards and commendations. In June 2005, Lee served as an operations specialist with McNeil Technologies (Springfield, VA) and subsequently served as Operations Center Director for Dyncorp International and GLS (Falls Church, VA). In July 2009, Lee returned home to Guam and continued his work as a consultant in the private sector. Lee was selected as the guidon for GFD’s 20th Fire Cycle in 2013. Following service in the Fire suppression and EMS bureau, Lee joined GFD’s Search and Rescue bureau in 2014 and has been instrumental in the development and execution of training standards for GFD’s Rescue units. Lee received GFD’s Lifesaving award in both 2018 and 2019, as well as a Meritorious Award for service in 2018. Among his various pro-board certifications, Lee also completed emergency response dive instructor certification (Philippines) and technical rope rescue technician certification (Oakdale, CA). When off-duty, Lee shares his skill and training with our community as a volunteer with the Guam Waterman’s Club and Guåhan Napu, promoting water safety and the protection of our land and water resources. Lee is also a Coach with the Manhoben Swim Club and an advocate for the Guam Swimming Federation. Lee coached the Guam National Team in surfing at the 2012 Pacific Games in New Caledonia and continues to coach and train local and international athletes in developing water confidence, condition and skill. Lee is currently pursuing his degree in Fire science and Emergency management with Purdue University. Lee is the son of Jong Hwa & Choon Yi Lee and is married to Senator Régine Biscoe Lee. They live on Guam with their daughters, Mia and Nina and their dog, Padfoot B. Lee.
