What are you looking forward to this Holiday Season?
Catherine Le, Marina PResident
This holiday season I may be a little old for Christmas lists and believing in Santa, but I do have a naughty list (members with 0 hours) and what I DO believe in is Key Clubbers spreading holiday cheer these next few weeks. The holidays are a time to reflect on ourselves and think of others instead, so I hope that everyone surrounds themselves with love and pays it forward these next few weeks!
I'm looking forward to break and actually being able to sleep for more than four hours. I'm also looking forward to the cold weather and Christmas music.
-Steven Chun, Edison vP I am looking forward to eating all the delicious food on the dinner table with my friends and family. Also, I am thankful for everything Key Club has done for me. It has given me an opportunity to be a leader and help others in need. Thankful for Division 4 West for being such a great group of ppl I can call my family.
Bridget Ton, Spirit Coord.
Holiday season means more opportunities for events. I'm looking forward to Clothe the Children! It's my favorite event by Kiwanis.
-Jasmine Le, Marina VP

Ah! It's cold in here, we need some dragons in the atmosphere! I look forward to this holiday season with all of the Christmas cheer and love in the air, Starbucks peppermint hot chocolate, ice skating, and of course winter service and Rose Float Decorating! The best way to stay on Santa's nice list is to make CARING your way of life! Blessings to all dragons <3
-Kendall Nakai, OV Pres
This holiday I can't wait to have spend time with family that I haven't seen in a while. I'm looking forward to relaxing from the stress of school and being able to attend events without worry of homework being due, but I'm also anticipating the end of college applications, so I hope for the best of luck to everyone applying over the break!
-Cindy nguyen, Marina President I look forward to seeing more Key Clubbers become active in the community. It would be the greatest present if the 300+ people that attended Fall Rally all continued having a great impact on Key Club.
-Alon Gary, Spirit coordinator For this holiday, I am excited for all the food and shopping! Also giving thanks to all those around me ! Happy Thanksgiving everyone!!

MY KEY CLUB STORY
Looking back at my high school years of being in Key Club, I wish I was more active in this tremendous heck of a club my freshman year. You all probably know me as the girl who lead the cheers at Fall Rally South, but I wasn’t that same girl a few years before. I remember going into Freshman year saying that I would join Key Club because there were cool people in the club. Honestly, I only joined Key Club for the popularity and the free otter pops. I saw so many people at the first meeting and I really wanted to go to the events aka Fall Rally South and the dances because I THOUGHT I WAS COOL. I didn’t go to any events my freshman year because I didn’t have any friends who wanted to go with me. I remember seeing tons of pictures of people having fun and I wanted to be a part of that memory. Sophomore year came and I met tons of new people who actually wanted to volunteer with me. I thought that I would give FRS a shot and it LITERALLY changed my life. I was so amazed at how many Key Clubbers there were and how spirited and caring they were. FUNNY STORY: I was so clueless during the session, I started screaming,”LOVE I LOVE MY LED” instead of LTG… I started going to more events and I met more people throughout the journey. I went to some service events and I loved helping people. I met a lot of people who are my close friends today and some cuties too ;)) Since I got closer to a lot of people in Key Club, it motivated me to go to service events. After that, the rest was history. I am now here as a proud Spirit Coordinator who just lead over 300 people at Fall Rally South. I cried at the last spirit night because I loved seeing everyone cheering their hearts out for this one heck of a family (see how I put family instead of club). After Fall Rally South, my heart melted because I would have never thought that I would be running around asking people how they felt. The first 3 days of being diagnosed by Post Fall Rally South Depression was very emotional especially when Preston sent me that video of 4 West cheering our ‘Drop it LIke it’s Hot’ session cheer…:’) Looking back at my journey of being in Key Club, I went from 0100 dragons real quick. I started off as a shy, clueless freshman who wanted to be popular, and here I am, a loud and proud, service lover. I have learned to be compassionate and generous to others. I have also learned to never use temporary hair dye because all of my shirts are now stained. Through Key Club, I have met my best friends that I will love to the end of time. I met people from all over Orange County, LA, and some from the Bay Area. If I did not join Key Club, things would be so different in my life. I am so blessed I spotted the group of students who kept on saying how they felt at Club Rush because LOOK AT ME NOW. It’s crazy how one little thing can change a whole perspective and I am excited to see what Key Club brings to me in the future.

Surf City Marathon
PAST EVENTS My Surf City experience this year was an amazing, memorable experience. It was the first year I had ever worked the water station so it was exciting trying it out for the first time. Even though it took the van many trips to get us all to the station, the wait was worth it! The atmosphere we created as a group really helped make the 5am wake up call worth it. Being able to cheer runs and give them water really made me feel that we helped out our community in a positive way that shows our Marina spirit. Even though when we first arrived the person in charge didn’t know how to run the station too well, we were very successful in passing out water to most of the runners. I had a fun experience meeting Key Clubbers from Huntington Beach High School. It was fun being able to come together and enjoy this wonderful experience. It bothered me, though, how much water we had to throw away at the end. I understand having to throw away most of the water but not on the concrete. Overall, I felt that this Surf City Marathon was a very great experience that I wish I had been able to participate earlier in high school. It was an amazing event overall that should continue for a very long time and continue to have Marina Key Club as olunteers.
The walk out of the darkness suicide prevention is one of the most meaningful events that I have ever been to. It not only create awareness but also shows the world that these victims will not be forgotten. We first started off the early morning with putting up and signs and setting up the booths. Each of the sign had the victims’ name and quotes from the family. When setting up these signs, each and every one of the quotes touched the bottom of my heart. The love and care from all the families can be seen; however, although the victims are gone from Earth they will forever be within out heart. Next, my friends and I set up the foodand drinks booth. The amount of chairs and tables that I had to carry killed my arms to the point where I couldn’t even carry a table. After setting up, we went to the arts and crafts booth to make folders and notes that all had the key word “HOPE”. Hope is an important factor in our life that reminds us to try one more time even when the world seems dark and cold. The walk out of darkness is an amazing event that I will definitely like to volunteer at again for it brings all the families together to not only share their emotions and loss of a loved one but also to give hope to the world and those thinking of committing suicide. Although this event raised awareness about suicides, it also left me and hopefully the visitors with an awareness towards the importance of hope. A simple smile, a kind compliment, and an easy high five can give a lonely person hope that will hinder them from ending their life and leaving a world that is full of love and opportunities.

Ellis hill Tree Planting The Ellis Hill Tree planting was probably one of the most fun events I’ve ever been to. We were able to bond with members from schools from all over the division like Marina and ceanview. We had a pretty high turnout compared to most other events and we were able to get our hands dirty in the name of service. We were able to arrange piles of mulch with pitchforks and shovels to make way for the trees that would soon arrive. We were also able to cut down the weeds and clear many other areas to make the city of Huntington Beach a much greener place.

-Jonathan Wong, HB Key Club Yowza! This event was a blast. In this event we got to help out people and chill in a pretty well ventilated room. Then we passed out pamphlets for a while and that was pretty fun to interact and meet new people. Also, I got to watch some interesting performances by different groups and met some authors. Overall, the event was pretty exciting.

AddWith the election season coming up, and conclave coming closely. A new LTG will emerge and if any of you are interested in running to become the D30S 2016-2017 Lieutenant Governor, please email me at d04w.cnhkc.ltg@gmail.com to receive a step-by-step process for your candidacy. Even if you are the slightest bit interested but still aren't sure, please still email me. You can decide whether you would like to run or not, but it is important that you still have the opportunity to run. The position is extremely rewarding but also rigorously challenging, so please do not view the title of Lieutenant Governor as something you can easily earn. I ask that you heavily consider the weight of this position, because countless hours of hard work and dedication will be required Along with this, if you don't understand the duties that an LTG does but want to run, you should attend Candidate Training Conference. Even if you plan on not running this year but a future year, I suggest that you still look into it! subheading

Although I try to avoid giving Division Leadership Team members officer of the month, Bridget has made me think otherwise. She has worked extremely hard throughout all of October and ensured everyone has gotten the cheers down for Fall Rally. After reading the feedback forms from the Spirit Nights, there was an overwhelming positive response for Bridget’s teaching style and helpfulness. She stepped out of her comfort zone to assist other members and even took the initiative to start tasks that I was planning on assigning to her.
Club of the month-Marina Although October was a very hectic month for a lot of clubs due to Fall Rally being around the corner and college applications taking place, Marina never stops providing service for the members that they serve. They have served the most hours for October is constantly pushing for service. This club is always on top of their game, which is evident through their communication and they always announce new events to members right away.
