4 Symbolism The logo was inspired by the Runic alphabet, which is a writing system used by Germanic peoples of northern Europe, Britain, Scandinavia, and Iceland from about the 3rd century to the 16th or 17th century AD (Encyclopaedia Britannica). In popular culture, Runes have always been associated with rituals and magic. This relationship is established in the brand by incorporating the Runic style of writing with the logo. The ‘W’ in the logo is designed to resemble a cauldron, and is used as the icon for the brand.

8 Colour Each flavour is characterised by different colours, with Red for Unicorn Blood, Green for Goblin Sweat and Teal for Mermaid Tears. The palette was derived from the colour often associated with each creature. Colour was also considered in the choice of material for the box. A textured paper in warm white was chosen to complement the natural colours of the main product container.

12 Style The brand promotes a natural and handcrafted aesthetic through the product’s packaging, which includes a glass bottle wrapped in twine. Not only does this style reflects the brand’s theme but also suggests the product as organic. Moreover, the box features a minimal design, accompanied by a stylised line illustration to characterise the flavour. This allows the brand to appeal to a contemporary audience while depicting a modern take on witchcraft.

18 Materials A glass bottle is used as the main container for the product to create a package that is reminiscent of potion bottles. This was also done with the intention for the bottles to be displayed in the open. The only disadvantage of using a glass bottle is that the tea leaves would be exposed to direct sunlight. By wrapping a hemp twine around it, not only would it give less sun exposure to the tea leaves, but at the same time, renders an organic aesthetic to the package. A hemp twine was chosen because the material makes it easier to dye as opposed to other fibrous materials like jute. On another note, paper with a subtle texture is used to add a level of detail to the minimal design on the box.

19 Tone The brand was designed to evoke a sense of wonder and curiosity. Despite its dark theme, it remains playful and reliable through its colour scheme and contemporary style. It aims to pique the customers’ interest, urging them to try something different.
20 Relationship All aspects of the design were chosen to reflect the central theme of the brand that is witchcraft. This is evident from the logo design, which incorporates the Runic writing system, to the product packaging, using organic materials such as glass bottles and twine to create a more handcrafted look. In addition, the design evokes the brand’s curious and playful personality through its visual style and colour scheme. Using vibrant colours such as Red, Green and Teal the design maintains an upbeat tone despite its dark and edgy theme.
