A Message from Our… Lizelle Oreno - President “Hey all you Key Clubbers! Welcome back to another school year! We are excited to work together again in different service events to help others! We have had one busy summer with our weekly Braille events, Meals on Wheels, working at the Pasadena Ronald McDonald House, attending our Kiwanis’ meetings, and our awesome DCM’s! During the summer I’m also excited to announce that we were awarded as "Club of the Month" in July and we have our very own, Brennon Sao who was rewarded as "Member of the Month"! We have lots of exciting things planned for this school year and are eager to see many new members willing to join! I hope to see you all there for our first meeting this Wednesday, September 2!”

Aja Archuleta - Bulletin Editor “Hey Thunderpups! We have finally begun the school year, and that means Key Club Meetings! Hopefully we get to see you all attend on September 2nd, as that will be our first meeting in Villamil’s room. This past month of August has had many amazing events, from Braille to the Ronald McDonald House in Pasadena and our DCM. Also, thanks to our president and historian Lizelle and Van, we have an event for donating school supplies to children in the works, so thanks to them! September has a lot of exciting events coming up, so be ready and mark your calendars! See you all at the first meeting, Thunderpups!”

Articles “On August 30th, I attended Division 3 South’s DCM and Dog Toy Making event with my friend and fellow club president Lizelle Oreno. When we arrived at Palmer Park, we immediately found our fellow division members sitting at tables interacting with one another and preparing the old shirts for making the dog toys. Lizelle and I signed in, sat down, and immediately started interacting with other Key Clubbers, experienced and non-experienced alike. It was so much fun getting to know the other Key Clubbers of our division and helping each other make our dog toys! It was our job to cut up the shirts into strips and braid them into knots to donate to a dog shelter. Although I wish I made more, it was a fun and interesting service event to take part in! Then as we finished making our dog toys, it was time to start the DCM. Each representative from each club went up and spoke about their past and upcoming events their clubs had, which were all extremely unique and charitable. Afterwards, Gabriela, our LTG, ended the DCM with a cheer session and the upcoming events for our division, such as RTC and Fall Rally, which I was excited for as well. All in all, this month’s DCM was very fun, and I got to meet more interesting and funny Key Clubbers who were kind and conversational. I can’t wait to see what the next DCM holds, and I encourage you all to try and go to meet other members of our division and to participate with the club more!”

Member of the Month Steve Carbajal Month of

August

“Our ‘Member of the Month’ Award for the month of August goes to Steve Carbajal!

Steve is an active member in the club and is always available to serve community. Now a junior, the pressures of school have begun. However, he does not let that get in the way of his Key Club activity. For the month of August, Steve helped out teachers at Franklin set up their classrooms and get ready for the 2016 school year. Even though service hours were not mentioned, Steve eagerly came to help out in intense heat. He also helped support and represent our Key Club at Franklin’s Club Fair. During this time, Steve talked and promoted Key Clubbers to old and new students. He gave them his personal experience and shared the Key Club lifestyle. Along with other members, Steve was able to bring Key Club to the attention of many new students! Thanks to Steve, our club is still thriving and prospering in service events and participation. Steve is always eager to volunteer in any way possible. He also helps spread the word to make sure our Key Club has a large quantity of students as well as participation rates! Thanks to Steve, our club has grown vastly. You rock, Thunderpup!”

Officer of the Month Van Lau Month of August

“Our ‘Officer of the Month’ for the month of August is none other than Van! Currently our

Club’s historian, Van does a great job keeping track of the events and documenting the experience. Thanks to her, we are able to update our experience social media pages frequently with new pictures showing the rest of the community the wonderful things Key Club does and has to offer! However, Van does not limit herself to the duties of a historian. She also is an active member in the community and seeks to share the Key Club experience with other students and incoming freshmen. During the month of August, Van attended Braille Institute. Here she helped organize audio tapes to make it easier for access and shipment. These audio tapes allow the visually impaired the opportunity to experience the book or piece of literature. Van also helped spread the word about Key Club during our school’s Club Fair! She helped answer any questions incoming students had about our club as well as promote the Key Club lifestyle. Thanks to Van, our club has maintained a high level of service hours. She also helped spark new students’ interests in Key Club! Keep on howlin’, Thunderpup!”
